The Beginning of it all-Part 2
So this is the second "chapter" or whatever you want to call it for my little story. I know I am by any stretch a writer, but either way I tend to dab in it when I get the chance and an idea.
The Beginning of it all
Part 2
Trainings
Of course anything strange that happened, even in a small village such as this, tended to spread quickly. It didn't take long for the news about me to spread around the village and to other villages in the area as well. The only problem with something such as this is when information as important as this reaches foul ears. And in this case something that had been slumbering for hundreds of years had awakened at the sense of my presence.
Several years went by and my powers grew as they did. Word even reached us about a wolf village a great distance away that had a pup born there with special powers as well. But as I said there were plenty of, "outbursts" of my powers, but it was never something to worry your self about. At the age of about 5, generally the time normal training is begun such as cooking, building, hand to hand along with weapons combat and several other skills, my life would begin to get complicated having to go through all that along with my, "special" training. One thing that was noticed by my parents and the elders as well was the fact that my outbursts were becoming less sporadic. When I was first born they would happen a lot more frequent and what happened was a lot more noticeable. But as I grew in age it seemed to have slowed down. The only thing that they could guess was I instinctively learned how to control my powers. The problem was learning how to actually use them properly and on command.
Mornings were always magical no matter how you looked at it. You wake up to the sun shining through your window, the sounds of the birds and the water flowing in the creek. Even though I'd wake up to that every day I always hated it in a way. Never liked school, bleh.
"Come on hun you have to get moving or you're going to be even later!" Shouted my mom, "You know what time you have to get going!"
All she could hear was me grumbling and growling softly to myself. "I'm hurrying as fast as I can!" Quickly taking a glace in the mirror to see if my fur is too messed up. I was about 12 years old at the time and a lot of times I watched how I looked because everyone always had their eyes on me. Hehe of course that didn't stop me from being a goof. Then my ears twitched as she shouted once more. Making me quickly turn and run, skidding into the kitchen and coming to a sudden stop as I ran into her, "Hehe sorry."
"It's alright just try not to keep doing this so often." She said as she kissed me on the forehead and handed me my lunch, "Now get your tail moving you're already late as it is." All I could do was laugh and run to the door, but before heading out it I turned around and stuck my tongue out at her, quickly closing the door behind me. Even though she was a little pushy at times she was still a great mother. Though I did tend to be a brat with her.
It wasn't very far where I had to go, only about 100 yards away from my house. Of course I almost always kept my eyes straight ahead or on the ground since I always get looks when I'm out and about. First I had to go to my hand to hand combat training. I had always enjoyed going to that and my weapons training, even though they were the hardest things out of the day. Days were always long, hard, and slightly lonesome, but I always pushed through them and made my own fun whenever I could.
"Crap! Crap! Crap!" I growled to myself as I raced along the streets. Passing many others in my village as my feet pounded on the ground and getting odd stares as I shot by them. Whenever I was late like this I never really paid attention to what was going on around me, because as I ran through the streets I almost ran into a cart that was being pushed out in front of me. Except that didn't end up being a problem as I gracefully jumped over it and continued on my way.
"Hey you're late! Get a move on!" Shouted Gengi, he was the trainer in charge of our hand to hand combat. As I heard his voice I snapped out of my trance and quickly looking up at the field saw many other students standing around him all waiting for me to get there. All I could do was roll me eyes, run up to them and bend down placing my paws on my knees and pant heavily, "You know if you weren't so late waking up then you wouldn't have to rush so much to get here."
"Yeah....I know....", saying through hard pants, "Heh, but you know me..."
"Well now that you're finally here at least we can begin. Alright everyone break off into pairs so we can get started." Even though I was a little winded I still cringed. I had loved the training, even though it was usually hard, just hated having to find a partner. As I said word of my powers spread fast. The grownups understood and were not afraid, but it was a different story for the ones my age. I was somewhat of an outcast with anyone my age and didn't have any friends to speak of. So training was always a little awkward for me. Of course it did have its up sides. When Gengi didn't force me to partner up with someone he would partner up with me. It meant my training was a lot harder, but I learned a lot faster. Because I'd get to work with someone that knew what they were doing. Plus I wouldn't have to hold back as much because he could take it a lot more. Of course I'd end up being the dummy then whenever learning something new which again was kind of a down side.
"Too slow again!" Growled Gengi as he knocked me down again making me plant my nose into the ground cause me to groan loudly, "You need to stop being distracted by some many things when you need to concentrate on the task right in front of you." He said proudly as he stood up and crossed his arms in front of his chest. He wasn't very big, but he could look it when he wanted to.
"I know," saying through gritted teeth as I slowly stood up, whipping my nose to check if it was bleeding or not. "I'm trying to clear my mind." Which I was, but there was always a lot going through it and then there was also the fact that I wasn't trying my hardest. I always held back because I didn't want to scare anyone more. Then I chuckled and grinned saying. "You know maybe if you gave out more ice cream then we'd all try a little harder, " then I began to laugh, "Or we could have a really big water battle!" I always tended to be the jokester, especially when things started to get too serious. Don't get me wrong I knew how to be serious. Heh it's just this way was a lot more fun.
But that's when he got that gleam in his eyes, came up to me and grasped my shoulder, "Naki now is not the time to make jokes. You above everyone else knows how serious this training is. Now stand up straight and lets go again" he said as he squatted down and got into his battle stance.
I just quietly sighed to myself and closed my eyes, thinking, "Alright, you want me to be serious about this and try then try this on for size." As I slowly opened my eyes and watched everything around me melt away until it was only me and Gengi getting ready to attack on the other side of me. He wanted me to concentrate then I'd concentrate and right now I could hear every beat of his heart and every breath coming out of him and then he was coming at me again. Except this time was different because as he moved towards me I saw every move he made and knew exactly what it was he was going to do. Right before he was about to strike I smoothly sidestepped him and saw the shocked look on his face. I also knew that he saw the grin that I wore on mine as well and then he was on the ground. At that point everyone else came rushing over to see what happened and saw Gengi laying on the ground with a shocked look in his eyes, "See teach I can concentrate when I need to. Now look at what I can do!" don't know why I did, but I decided to curl into a ball and roll around on the ground a bit. Which did help to take some of the stress away from everyone and it made Gengi laugh too.
And to think this was only the first part of the day. There were some of my more normal classes like math, reading and writing along with teaching us how to hunt, cook and basically on how to survive. At the end of every day I was always tired. Some more than others, but my day always lasted longer than everyone else. Because I always had my, "special" training at the very end of the day. I had enough time to run home, eat quickly and then head off to the elders hut.
"Jera I'm here." I said timidly, poking my head into the small building and looking around the room, "Hello?"
"I'm over here Naki, please come in." He said startling me a bit. I swear when he wanted to he could become invisible or it could be the low light in the small room. I just did as I was told and slowly walked over to him. I had always had a dazed look when I walked in there, because there we're always so many interesting things to look at. I quickly reached him though and lowered myself to the ground and crossing my legs. I was already trying to prepare myself for tonight because trying to refine my powers was always more mentally draining than anything else. But tonight was surprisingly different, "Tonight will be a little bit different from usual Naki." As he said that my ears perked up a bit and I looked up at him.
"What do you mean?" I asked extremely curious. They were always very serious and strict about training me and it was odd to find out it was going to be different.
"Tonight I would like to simply talk to you about a few things." He said, studying my face as I looked at him. "There is something in the records that I had found, but hid from all the others because I didn't want them to get worried about it and I believe you're old enough now to understand." I just slowly nodded and got comfortable because I could tell this was going to be long.
He went into this long spiel about how the last time powers like mine showed up there was a great demon that was sending it's minions throughout the land to attack the villages. The last husky to have these powers had fought the monsters, confronted the demon and sealed him away. However he had sensed something that just didn't feel right and he's afraid that if his feeling is right then the demon, which was never given a game simply just called, "The Dark One" has somehow broken free from his prison and I may have to face him in the future. Simply....I was afraid. Because now this was just one more thing to weigh on my mind. But he eased my mind a bit in telling me if I continued my training right then there should be nothing to worry about. Though it didn't help that I was a worry wort.
