The Beginning of it all-Part 6
The Beginning Of It All-Part 6
Confrontation
The smell was almost instantaneous. It was the strong smell of death. All around me the stony floor was riddled with bones. But that wasn't what I was looking at. On the walls and even the ceiling there were what looked like runes carved into it and upon my paw touching them they seemed to glow. "This whole place looks like it was used to contain that monster." I said, hearing my voice echoing of the walls, my finger tracing along the walls at I walked along. "But somehow it broke the seal." Just then I stopped what I was doing and tilted my head, twitching my ears in the direction of the nose and slowly slid into the shadows at just the right time as a group of goblins began to come around the corner.
As I watched from the side they walked past me talking to each other. They were laughing and joking about a village they had just pillaged and about all the people they killed there. Once I heard that my blood began to boil. But I was still able to keep my cool and once the last one walked by I slowly sidestepped out of my hiding place and began my work. One by one my paws worked as I picked them off until I was down to the last one. They didn't even realize what had happened until the last one heard the soft growling in it's ear. "So it's fun to kill innocent villagers, huh?" I didn't have to actually see it's face to know that it's eyes had widened and it's breathing quickly picked up. Once it could get itself to move though it tried reaching for it's dagger it had, but I moved as quick as lightening and in less then a second there was a splash of blood and it's hand lay on the ground. "That wasn't a very smart idea." I growled at it as I walked around it slowly, listing to it howling in pain and grabbed a hold of it's neck. "Now you're going to tell me exactly how to get to your leader or this is going to be a very bad day for you."
"Why should I help you at all? My master will just end up killing you anyways." As it spoke this I reached down and grabbed it's other hand and twisted it. Breaking it in one fluid motion causing it to howl in even more pain.
"And what would make you say that? I've gotten in here and killed all of your little buddies." Slowly beginning to wrap my paw around it's throat as I glared down at it. "So again are you going to make this easy on yourself or do I get to have a little bit of fun?" It looked back up at me with it's dead looking eyes and saw the flames burning in mine and knew I wasn't lying. It then slowly began divulging to me exactly where I had to go, nodding and questioning everything it said to see if it was trying to mislead me or not and as far as I could tell it wasn't.
"You...you're going to let me go now aren't you?" It stammered, feeling the fear growing even stronger in it's black heart.
I shook a clawed finger at it and continued to glare at it. "Oh now we both know that wouldn't be too smart. You'd either run off to your boss or get more of your buddies and try to take me down. So that means you're not going to be going anywhere." At that point it really began to struggle in my grip so I simply let it go and watched it try and run away from me on legs that really didn't seem to want to move it fast enough or right. I just coolly reached for one of my daggers and hurled it at it right as it was about to turn the corner. It made a sick thud as it struck the creatures back, causing it to slam against the wall and slide down it, dead. I quickly walked over and pulled the dagger out, whipping the blood off on the side of my leg and reattached it to my hip and looked around. "Alright, now if that little creep was telling the truth then this is the way I should be heading..."
Oddly enough I was heading into the right direction. There were a few more obstacles that I had to deal with along the way, but easily surpassed it. A few more groups of monsters were along my path, but I just hid from then and let them pass in peace. Didn't want to waste my energy on pieces of scum that weren't worth my time. The other problem I had to deal with was a few traps that were either set up years ago or had been placed there for intruders such as myself. But the obvious sight that told me that I was heading in the right direction was how the runes on the wall were becoming even more elaborate. Except as I passed more and more of them I was amazed even more at how beautiful they were....too bad they were used to contain something so horrible.
Soon after that though my movements began to bounce off of the walls even more and the hallway began to open up into a huge and brightly lit cave. The runes were even inscribed on the ground as well in here and the area around my footpaws lit up with each step I took. "This is just simply amazing." Whispering softly, but even doing that the echo made it sound like I was shouting. But apparently I was too distracted because just then I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and jumped into the air just in time to avoid a gigantic tail that was attempting to smash me against the wall, landing again on a huge boulder standing in the center of the room.
"I have been waiting for you!" Boomed the gigantic voice, causing stones to fall from the ceiling as it's voice bounced off the walls. That's when I turned my head in the direction the tail had come from, watching as it was pulled back into the shadows. That's why I hadn't really seen anything when I first stepped in and along with it being so bright in here compared to everywhere else. "I had thought that my army had put an end to you, but there was something else that told me otherwise! Mainly the fact that I'm still trapped inside this accursed cave! But since they were all too stupid and paid for their mistakes I decided to take care of this business myself!"
I just simply smirked and crossed my arms in front of my chest. "Heh well your biggest mistake then was letting me live and not making sure that I died." As I begin to crack my neck and each one of my knuckles, as I closed my eyes and lowered my body's center of gravity. Just then my eyes flashed open and a grin spread across my face a bright flame flashing across my eyes as I began to shout at it. "And your other mistake was attacking those that I cared about and killing my parents! I will not let you get away with this and today is the day that I kill you!"
A deep chuckle filled the air from the direction of the creature and I saw bright eyes open from it's place in the darkness. "For something so small you sure have a lot of courage! No matter, because I will be able to crush it and your body shortly!" Just then it shot out from it's place in the dark at me with sickening speed. Seconds later the rock I was standing on was shattered as it threw it's body against it. Causing it to explode into a million pieces. I nimbly jumped off of it at the last second and landed on another one. "Heh impressive!" It bellowed. "At least this won't be boring!"
"Heh you know what? You talk too much." I sneered at it and began to launch myself at it. Pulling my daggers off of my side and dodging it's arms as it reached for me to crush my body. As one of it's arms crashed into the ground I ran up it and onto it's back, digging my daggers in repeatedly and dodging it's grabbing hands. Except at one point it had succeeded in grabbing me and threw me against the wall. My head bounced off it with a sickening thud, but I stood up and shook it a few times, glaring it at. "Hehe is that all you've got!?"
At that it reared it's head and bellowed loudly. "You are going to pay for that you little pest!." As the fight ensued it was apparent that I wasn't making very much headway and monster knew it. "You may as well give up now and just die!"
I just stood up from my place on the ground and looked up at it, wiping the blood away from my muzzle. "Oh no this is far from over. This fight has just begun!" As soon as those words left my muzzle I changed my shape and shot out from under it. Flying high above it's head. "This could be my only shot to do some real damage." I thought to myself. "I have to act quickly before he realizes what has happened." I concentrated and quickly brought a huge bolder to me, changing it's shape, creating what looked like a giant arrowhead. "This is for my family...." I growled at it and increased the weight of the object. Sending it hurtling down towards the creature. But it had realized what I was doing at the last second and instead of ending it's life and the fight I only impaled it's arm, ripping it right off of it's shoulder.
As it's howl of pain and anger filled the air around me I could tell this had just made things worse instead of better. As the battle ensued many blows were given and dealt and the longer it continued the more obvious it became that I was slowly loosing.
And then everything came back to reality and came full circle. As I continued to rub my arm and tried standing up I realized just how much blood I had lost and began feeling extremely light headed. I knew if I didn't end this soon I could pass out and that would be the end of me. As I began to try and undo the first buckle his whole arm crashed down on top of me. Then I thought the end was coming to me. Because my mind began to swim and my vision started to get blurry. But not a second later out of the corner of my eye I saw a great flash of light and the monster fell to the ground twitching in a heap.
As unconsciousness stole over me and my eyes began to close all I could see was the form of what looked like a grey wolf walking up to me. I could barely make out his lips moving and saying something, but it seemed as if the words would not reach my ears. As I passed out the words thank you was not the first thing that had risen to my mind, but rather. "I think I'm in love......"
