Fallout-9- Dead ends and side questing
I hope people don't hate me for this but I'm temporarily ditching the plot for a while.
Kesha walked ahead with her team. Foley and David followed behind. Kesha would occasionally turn around to check on them. Tobias followed behind.
'So your one of the crazies too huh?' David turned around to the man behind him who had been silent so far.
'Crazies?' He asked.
'Yeah. Like Danny. Anyone Raana calls possessed is a crazy.' Tobias said with a serious look.
'hat, you mean-'
'Yeah. Every one of them has gone crazy. Totally off their nut. Mental. They just suddenly go off into this huge psychotic rage and attempt to kill anything around them.' Tobias fingered his knife meaningfully.
'How many of them?' David asked, trying to get as much out of him as possible.
'Two already. Tess and Danny. Raana did his whole "possessed" thing for each of them.'
'And you think I'm going to go crazy?' David asked. Tobias shrugged.
'Hopefully not, but statistics aren't in your favour.' He said.
'Well I hope not.' David said. 'I certainly wouldn't like to kill you all.' Tobias looked at David for a while.
'So what do you do?' He asked.
'I do lots of stuff. What would you like to know about?' Tobias shook his head.
'You do something special.' He said. 'Tess could see, I mean see for miles. She could hear the smallest noise, all her senses were pretty high as. Then one day she went off. She ran around, going nuts with this knife.'
'What did you do?' David asked. Tobias held up one hand and made a gun shape with his fingers, and mimicked firing a gun.
'Also, one week before she was going funny.' Tobias said as he moved in closer and whispered. 'She ate one of those rad-mouse things. Just out of nowhere. She began sleeping funny, lying on top of her blankets and curling up into a ball.'
'She was acting like a bird?' David asked quietly.
'Exactly.' Tobias eyed David. 'So what are you?' David was about to answer when a whistle came from ahead. 'Shit, here we go!' Tobias took a combat shotgun from his back and joined the rest of the group at the corner. David hurried along behind him. Kesha stood in the middle of the circle.
'Ok, the abbo's are just around the corner here, they're dug in strongly. Lenny, Tobias, you rush in and take cover on the left. Sully you cover them, give them a chance to get in closer, Raana you go in after and pick off prime targets. I'll covering with sully.' She turned to David, who slapped a clip into his magnum and took the switchblade in his free hand. 'Alright then, you go with Tobias and Lenny, your friend can cover you.'
'Understood.' Foley nodded.
'Let's see what you two can do then.' Kesha held one hand up, kept it suspended for a second and dropped it.
David rushed around the corner first. The things took too long to react and he shot one in the head. David ducked around a support pillar to his left as the abbos returned fire. Lenny strafed towards cover as he fired at the group, and then ducked behind another pillar. Tobias tossed a frag and ducked into cover also. A laser swept across the bottom storey windows, but to little effect. The creatures had superior position in the fortified building, they hid behind windows on the ground and second floors and had sandbags (snowbags) in front of the windows. The ringing from a sniper shot was the cue to proceed. David ran around the pillar and ran for the fortification. He leapt forward into a roll as a spike flew towards him. He fired at one in the window a couple of times as he ducked around a spray of bullets, a few hit him. He jumped through the window frame into the building. He ran around a wall to his left. He leapt at the abbo looking away from him and stabbed the knife into its throat. He wrenched it out and pushed the body through the window. He jumped onto the windowsill and jumped up to the second floor. He fired a round through the chin of the abbo in the window and jumped in. He ran around the wall to his right and fired. Out of ammo. The abbo swung it's spear towards David, catching him on the face with the sharp part and knocking him down. He rolled out of the way as the spear stuck into the ground beside him. He grabbed the spear and tore it from the abbo's hands and threw it back at it. The spear went straight through the things head and stuck into the wall above the window. The things head exploded in crimson as a 308 round went through. A shotgun went off somewhere nearby. He ran around the next wall to find a dead one. He turned around as Tobias ran up the stairs behind him. The two split up and searched the top floor. David heard a shotgun go off once, then the two met up.
'That's the top floor clear.' Tobias told him.
'Bottom floor clear!' Lenny came up the stairs behind. 'looks like there nothing salvageable in here, so we're probably moving on quickly. Kesha wants us to meet outside.' David nodded and headed to the window. He ran up to it and dived out, flipping once in mid-air before landing on all fours. He approached Kesha and the group, minus Lenny and Tobias.
'Are you alright?' It took a few moments for David to realise the question was directed at him.
'Oh, yeah. Why?' Kesha ran her finger gently along the side of David's face. He was confused, but did not object.
'That does not hurt?' she asked.
'What are you talking about?'
'The scar on your face, you cannot feel it?' She asked. David shook his head.
'Pain is annoying, so I stopped a while ago.' He said with a shrug. Kesha gave him an intrigued look.
'Is that so?' she asked.
'Well ok then my turn. Aren't you cold?' David asked. Kesha shook he head.
'No. I am not. We have learned to endure the cold. Our bodies do not get cold.' She said.
'So you're not cold? You're hot?' David asked. Kesha sighed.
'I can see where this is going. It's very old.' She told him. David shrugged.
'Ok, I'll get back to you when I come up with an original pick-up-line.' He said with a smile. Kesha shook her head slightly.
'if you insist.' She clapped her hands together twice quickly. 'All right, we are moving out.'
[/////////////////////////////////////]
'Don't even bother mate.' Tobias said as he walked up behind David. Once again, the two were situated at the back of the group.
'Don't bother what?' David asked with a confused expression. Tobias nodded his head towards Kesha at the front of the group.
'Me, Lenny, Sully, we've all gone after her on separate occasions. Only one she ever fell for was Danny.' David grunted and kicked a stone idly.
'Tell me about Danny.' He said. Tobias sighed and looked up into the sky with a deep look.
'Danny was incredible.' He stated. 'He was a forx. A legend with a plasma rifle. Just took out anything he encountered. He could headshot a target running side on from sixty metres. And plasma balls travel slow. He was a great guy. Loyal, reliable. You could always trust him. Always calm. But then he went crazy.' Tobias went silent as he seemed to watch something in the distance. 'Stopped talking to people. Became quiet. If anyone came up behind him he would spin around and growl at them. Then he attacked Kesha.' Tobias looked at Kesha in thought. 'Kesha was the one who killed him. She hasn't been the same.' Tobias stared cautiously at David. 'So tell me what you do so I know how to kill you.'
David looked down at his hands. Smeared with dried blood. The blood of thousands. Enclave, ghouls, raiders, animals, mercenaries, muties, anything foolish enough to take a shot at him.
'Just run like hell and hope I die of cancer.' He said with a grin. Tobias smiled out of the corner of his mouth.
'That bad eh?' the two quickly turned their heads when three quick gunshots echoed through the air. David ran to catch up with the front of the group. He ducked around the corner of the building into the plaza outside. The enormous Stratus radio building loomed over the battlefield. Abbos stood around a fountain in the centre of the plaza. They fired at various PAWs standing on higher ground on balconies and up flights of steps. More abbos were swarming the area from the right. David drew his magnums and headed straight for the building. He recognized this place, and although there was plenty of stuff to kill, he had bigger fish to fry. He fired a couple of rounds into some nearby abbos as he headed straight for a flight of steps. He took a sharp left and leapt for a balcony, catching the bottom and hauling himself up. The balcony was at the east of the building, immediately next to a familiar road blocked by a bus. He watched over the raging battle out of the corner of his eye, but his main focus was on the road next to him. The next ten-minutes of battle were uneventful for David. He just stood there watching the road. I won't even detail anything else about the fight cause' I kinda just want to get to the cool stuff.
'What's wrong? Pussy out?' Foley called up to him with a grin.
'Yeah yeah, keep talking Foley. We'll see who's laughing when a massive motherfucking abbo charges around this corner and eats the other one.' David snapped. 'And trust me. I will laugh.' David waited. And waited. A massive motherfucking abbo did not come charging around the corner and eat Foley. Muttering under his breath, David jumped down from his totally awesome ambush position and headed inside the building.
Disappointingly, it was remarkably similar to the galaxy news building. Some PAWs stood behind sandbags, chatting away to each other while others simply walked around on patrol. None of the "security" personnel paid the two any attention as they headed upstairs. A stereotypical balding man with a large scruffy beard sat in a faded chair, strumming idly at a banjo with a toothy smile. The man looked up as David entered and immediately jumped to his feet.
'Hooooeey! I knows who you is!' he shouted, hopping from foot to foot. 'You're James' boy! Yessiree! You be looking for him, ain't you be!' The man cackled loudly. Foley threw David a confused look, David shrugged in response.
'And you are?' David asked, hoping for something comprehensible.
'The owner and operator of this here radio station. M' name is Jeffery, but these here folks call me Dizzy Doug. No relation.'
'No relation to who?' David asked, baffled.
'Jeffrey.' The man replied with an enormous grin. David looked at Foley and mouthed something in confusion.
'So you know my dad then?' David asked.
'Oh, sure. He's paying' me a pretty penny to play his funk tunes in a few months time. Super-secret recording t'is.'
'Well do you know where he is?' David asked.
'Sure, but I aint gonna tell you, y' little hog-sniffer you!' The man suddenly charged off in the opposite direction from David, whooping and yelling loudly. He runs around the table in a circuit, continuing his incomprehensible yelling. David looked at Foley for support. Foley shook his head solemnly and headed for the door. David, making sure the geezer wasn't looking, dropped something on the floor and ran out the door after Foley. They exited through a different door from the one they had entered in. they now found themselves outside, but they could still hear the crazed man inside.
'Yeeeeahahahahahahhahaaaaa-BOOM!'
'What was that?' Foley asked. David grinned back at him. 'You didn't.'
'He started it.' David said in protest.
'What?'
'He called me a hog-sniffer.' David said. Foley placed his head in his hands for a second.
'We should probably get out of here then.' He said. 'Where do you want to go now?' David though for a second.
'Idunno. Can't we just wander around and kill stuff?' he asked hopefully.
'What about your dad?'
'Hell, I don't know. Let's just wander for a while and see if we can find anything out.'
[/////////////////////////////////////]
'It's too quiet.'
'Shut up David!' Foley hissed back as he crept along the wall of the trench. 'You're doing that on purpose!'
'Yeah I know. And it's not working.' David said with disappointment at the lack of monster-ambushingness. 'I've probably done it too many times now and jinxed myself.'
'Actually, come to think of it, it is a little quiet, isn't it? Foley questioned. 'I mean, the other parts of the trenches were full of abbos, but this area is empty.' David shrugged.
'All right, let's go over there then. That looks interesting.' David said, pointing at a ramp to his left. He veered off and headed up before Foley could answer. David recognized the building instantly. 'The museum of natural history!' he exclaimed as he approached it. Foley made a disgusted look.
'Ergh, you mean that place with all the ghouls in it?' he asked.
'They aren't that bad. Besides, These could be differrrrrrr-' David cut himself off as he saw a figure in front of the building.
'Holey. Shit. It's-'
'Beautiful...' David ended Foley's sentence for him. The figure lying on the ground in the shade of the building raised its head as it heard the two approach. It slowly got to its feet and walked over to meet them. Its skin seemed to be almost silvery in colour and glistened darkly, even in the shade. Her glossy platinum-blonde hair bounced gently as she walked. Her ears were pointed at the top and she had an incredible figure. Thin, busty and slightly muscular. Actually, the most notable thing about her was the fact that she was naked. Totally. She made no attempt to hide herself at all, whatsoever. Her sole article of clothing was a golden tiara that sat upon her head.
'Greetings my weary travellers.' She said in a smooth voice, which flowed like a silvery river. 'You must be exhausted. Please, follow me inside.' She turned around and headed back towards the entrance of the museum. Foley simply stood and stared at her ass, but David, being a more capable and intelligent person, follower her and stared at her ass at the same time.
The inside of the museum was dark. A few candles were lit near a grand entranceway cast eerie shadows of a giant animal skeleton that sat beside them. The two men followed silently, entranced by the creatures beauty. They eagerly followed through the entranceway and froze in shock. There were heaps of them. They ranged from silver-blue to grey green hues. And they were sexy. Very sexy. They stood facing the men with their bodies in full view.
'Foley, please tell me I'm awake here.' David whispered in awe. The ranks of women closed in and circled the men. The first one stepped forward and spoke.
'We are the Galish people. We live here, the underworld.' She said, holding her arms high. 'We wait in loneliness, hoping, and waiting. We wait for suitable mates to come in from outside, so that we may bear child, and continue our race.' David's jaw dropped open.
'So now, we may feast, so that tonight, we shall perform the ritual of the virgin blood.' She says as she lowers her arms.
'Ritual of the virgin blood?' David asked, shakily.
'Yes, the ritual.' The woman said. 'During the night, between you, you shall lay with every virgin in the underworld, so that our race can continue to survive.' She turns and motions to the men over her shoulder. The men follow her, heads clouded by fantasies, as she wades through the parting crowd. Once again, to preoccupied with hormones to ask those sensible questions to themselves.
[/////////////////////////////////////]
David ripped a hunk out of the bone of meat before him and chewed vigorously. This meat was awesome. He felt something touch him on the shoulder. One woman with silver skin was leaning against him. She seemed to be purposely pressing her breasts into his shoulder as she did so.
'My my, what a beast you are...' she crooned seductively as she ran a finger down his side. She suddenly flicked her leg up into the air and over David legs, and sat straddling him. She leaned forward, pressing herself into him. She pressed her nose to his and gazed into his eyes.
'I cannot wait for this ritual to begin...' she breathed huskily as she reached down. She grabbed hold of his shirt in both hands and ripped it open, pressing her naked body into his bare chest. She pressed her mouth to his in a fiery, passionate kiss as her tongue probed the inside of his mouth. She slowly withdrew, leaving a trail of saliva between them, and swung her leg off him again. She stood and headed for a room on David's left. David sat still for a moment, breathing heavily and trying to make sense of this dream-like scenario. A couple of women gathered around him and pulled him to his feet. They held on to him closely as he followed the first. David followed through a set of drapes. Most of the women stayed outside, except the first. The woman stood beside a bed and motioned for David to approach. He acted obediently and followed. The woman pressed herself into him once again, kissing him. Her hands groped and grabbed at his belt, pulling it free and she pushed him backwards onto the bed. She readily joined him, straddling him once more. She slid her tongue across her hands and placed them up on her shoulders, and ran them down the front of her body, rubbing them around her nipples and then sliding them down to David underneath her, pulling down his makeshift trousers and underwear. She lay down on him, kissing him again as she shifted her body about, dragging her wet, sticky flesh across his. David lay his head back, closing his eyes in bliss. He tilted his head forwards and opened his eyes again when she stopped.
'FUCK!' He swung his fist up into the air in alarm as his claws slid out. The thing flew off and landed on the floor beside him. It hissed terribly and rose back up again, glaring at him with menacing red eyes. What was once a woman was now a hideous, demonic monster. The things ribs were spiked and protruded from its stomach, soaked in blood. Its finger bones had extended out the end of its hands and had formed claws, and its face was a contorted half skeleton bat-demon-thing head. Boney, sinewy wings had sprouted from her back. David pulled his pants back up in a hurry and jumped to his feet, seething in anger and panting heavily. He had been so worked up for what he thought would come, but was now denied. He bit his lip as he stared down the monster.
'I...am going... to kill you... so hard...' he muttered between breaths. The thing threw its head back and screeched loudly in response. David leapt forward with lightning speed. He stabbed three claws straight through the things neck and threw its body to the ground. He charged out the opening with a fierce yell. A flying thing dropped to the floor in front of him, burning. The things swarmed around Foley, who was firing erratically into the middle of the things with his laser rifle. One suddenly dived at him from behind.
'Foley! Six high!' David shouted. Foley spun around to face his attacker, but he didn't shoot it. He opened his mouth wide, drew his head back, and yelled at it. Within milliseconds the air burst into a flaming cone, engulfing the attacker. David charged into the fray to join the fight. One of the monsters flew at him straight on. Bad idea. David swung his arm up and caught it around the neck, then slammed it into the ground, snapping its neck instantly. He swung his arm around and sliced through one to his left, and continuing his spin, grabbed another one out of the air and smacked it against the ground. He swung that one's body up and smacked away another that was flying at him. One flew at him low suddenly. He flicked himself backwards to the ground. He held his claws up as the thing flew over top of him, cutting itself on his blades. He jumped quickly to his feet, only to have another fly at him from the front. He reached his hands up quickly as the thing tried to tackle him. He grabbed hold of two of the sharp, bloody rib bones sticking out of its chest and held it back. The thing writhed about, trying to get free. David mustered his strength, and pulled the two bones apart in opposite directions, ripping them from the blackened skin in a shower of blood. He spun the bones in his hands to face downwards and lifted them up high with a roar, then swung them down onto the creature, sticking them into its back and out the other side. He placed on foot on the things back and pushed down as he pulled the bones back out again. A couple came at him from the left now. He lashed out quickly in a bloody flurry with the two bones, blocking, parrying and countering every strike aimed at him, then with one incredibly overdramatic attack, he sliced one bone across one's neck, spun around, pivoting on one foot and dodging a flailing claw, tossed the second at the furthest away one and hitting it in the face, then raised the first bone-spike again above his head as he stepped towards the final one and swung it down with full force, piercing the things skull and killing it. David stood panting, scoping for any other hostiles. After realising the area was evii-demon-monster-chick free, he itched his nose for no apparent reason. He turned over to Foley, who was approaching him with a happy look.
'What're you so happy about?' David asked. Foley tilted his head back and burped. A wisp of fire flickered out. 'So what? You can shoot fire from your mouth. Big deal. I'm a cross between a motherfucking tank and a ninja, but you don't see me going around smiling hugely and burping.' David said with a shrug,
'What's wrong with you Mr cranky?' Foley asked tauntingly. David stared at him with a "no shit" look.
'Dude, I just got deprived of a dozen pussies. Sexy silver-skinned ones, and man am I pissed off!' David yelled. Foley smiled back in an annoying way.
'So? Just have a wank or something. You'll feel much better.' He said. David paused to think, then shrugged.
'Whatever then. Turn around.' He said.
'Fuck off. Find somewhere else to wank.' Foley shot back. David turned around and began walking away, muttering to himself.
'Stupid Foley.... Thinks he's a fucking bigshot...'
[/////////////////////////////////////]
'Hey spyro, pack your bags, we're blowing this joint!' David called as he approached Foley, happy once again.
'Spyro?' Foley asked.
'Yeah, he's this little purple fire-breathing dragon from this Xbox game I had.' David said with a grin.
'Oh, thanks.' Foley muttered. 'Wait, you had an Xbox?'
'Oh yeah, sure. Back in the vault. Actually, do you know one thing that really annoys me, even to this day?'
'Your mum?'
'My mums dead.'
'Oh...' Foley looked at his feet awkwardly. 'go on...'
'Well, I was only halfway through playing skyrim when my dad ran out on me in the vault.'
