Schande's Story-Chapter 6
#6 of Schande's Story
CHAPTER 6-
Schande was back at the orphanage. He was in a cage being gawked at by the other kids. He was tearing up, he didn't like being stared and laughed at. He saw a husky in the back looking at him sadly. He reached for it, calling for help. It didn't work, the husky was getting farther away. He was about to lose him when...
There was a knock on the door. Schande jerked out of his dream.
Schande: "Come in."
The door opened, and in walked the guidance counselor. She was a beautiful otter, and she was Schande's favorite person in the whole school, besides J.J. of course.
Schande: "Mrs. Jameson! What a nice surprise!"
Mrs. Jameson: "Hey there sugarpie. How are you?"
Schande: "Meh, can't complain."
Mrs. Jameson: "That's good to hear. I wanted to let you know that you'll be getting another roommate!"
Schande stared at her. His heart started to sink. Great, another person to think he was a freak. Why did the school have to put him in a four-person dorm? Why couldn't he and J.J. have their own room?
Schande: "Really? Who is it?"
Mrs. Jameson: "You're about to find out! Come on in sweetie!"
A husky stepped into the room. He was about a head taller than Schande. He had sleek gray fur, with white fur down his front, around his snout and eyes. Schande gasped and widened his eyes. He couldn't believe who it was!
Schande: "Seb?!"
Seb: "Schande?!"
It really was Seb. His best friend from the orphanage. Schande hadn't seen him in six years, and thought he never would again. They shouted, "Oh my God!" at the same time and ran up and embraced each other. Mrs. Jameson looked at them amusedly.
Mrs. Jameson: "I see no introductions are needed! I'll let you two catch up."
She left the room. Schande turned to Seb.
Schande: "Is that really you, Sebastian Marsh?"
Seb: "The one and only!"
Schande: "I don't believe this! I thought I'd never see you again!"
Seb: "I know right? How have you been?"
Schande and Seb sat on the bed and talked for hours. They had so much to catch up on it was scary. Their conversation was interrupted by Schande's phone going off.
Seb: "Nice phone! Where did you get it?"
Schande: "Let's just say, being Chuck E. Cheese isn't a bad paying job!"
Seb giggled. Schande got a text from J.J. Who, come to think of it, was supposed to have been back hours ago.
"Hey Schande, I'm at a party with my dad, so I probably won't be back until tomorrow. See you then sexy! -J.J."
Schande: "Well, that explains a lot! I was starting to worry."
Seb: "So Schande, What classes do you have?"
Schande (ticking off the classes with his fingers): "Sign Language, English, Algebra, Spanish, Marine Biology, Culinary, and History"
Seb (signing): "I need to make sure to get the same schedule as you."
Schande looked at him in shock.
Schande (signing): "You can sign too?"
Seb (signing): "Yeah, my uncle is deaf, so he teaches me a lot of signs."
Seb and Schande had their entire conversation in sign language after that. Schande looked at the clock after a while, and jumped little. It was already 10 PM.
Schande (speaking now): "Wow, it's late! We should get to bed."
Seb: "You're right. Good night, Schande!"
They hugged and went to bed. Schande couldn't believe it, his best friend was in the same room as him, after six whole years! He couldn't help but smile as he drifted off to sleep.
