Chapter 1
A woman stumbles out from behind some bushes, her cheeks wet with tears. She looks around then wipes her eyes and cheeks with her arm. The woman is a red wolf, in her early twenties, with one blue, and one green eye, and long, slightly darker, red hair, than the rest of her body, that hangs down to the small of her back. She stands about 5'6", and is wearing a pair of blue denim jeans, high cut but her pink panties are still barely visible over them, and a denim tank-top that matches her pants, the top has thin spaghetti straps and is low cut in the front with red strings hanging, tied, in the front between her breasts. She takes another look around then starts home.
She continues walking and after few blocks she turns and looks back at a restaurant across the street from the bushes. A black male wolf walks out laughing with a small lamb wearing next to nothing. They get into a car and the red wolf's eyes widen. The car drives by and the wolf smirks at her as he drives away. The girl falls to her knees and bursts into tears again. She falls forward onto her hands and knees and starts hitting the ground. "Bastard! You fucking bastard I hate you so much!" she screams. Her right fist becomes bruised and with another hit her hand busts open and starts bleeding. "Fuck!" She holds her hand as it bleeds, then standing up she starts walking again.
She stops at a bus stop tired and worn out, miles still left till she is home. Her cheeks are still wet but now with blood as her hand is still bleeding slightly. She sits there waiting for the bus, then, with her left hand, she reaches in her pocket feeling for something. "Damn... he took my money too. Guess I'll have to walk the rest of the way."
She goes to get up as a car stops in front of her. The passenger side window rolls down and the person calls to her. "Quantum!? Is that you?"
She jumps not expecting someone to talk to her. She walks to the window and leans down peering inside. "Melchoir? What are you doing here?"
"I should ask you the same thing Q. I thought you were with Marc, on a date or something." he scoffs at the thought of he man named Marc.
"Well...I....let's just say it's complicated at the moment." She pauses and stands up straight. She bites her lip gently the leans back down putting her left hand on the roof of the Intrepid. "Umm...Mel do you think you could maybe take me home I seem to have forgot my money there?"
"Of course Q." He leans over to open the door for her. "But tell me why are you out this far from home by yourself?"
Quantum climbs into the car. Not wanting to get blood on the door she closes it with her left hand. "Well it's like i said it's complicated at the moment." She buckles up and tries to smile at him.
Melchoir is a polar bear that stands about six foot, also in his early twenties, with light blue almost grey eyes. He Wears a suit The same color as his fur, giving the impression that he is naked, with a black tie. Melchoir turns on the inside lights to look at her better. "Jesus Q what happened to you? Did someone hurt you?"
She shakes her head. "No not exactly...I...". She pauses a moment trying to think of something to tell him. "I fell while walking, I busted my paw open. See?" She holds up her hand blood matting the fur. She smiles again still more blood matting the fur on her cheeks.
"Right..." Melchoir draws the word out longer than need be, then turns the lights off shaking his head. "Well i don't believe that one bit, not knowing Marc and the bastard he is." He pushes the brake and shifts the car into gear. The car starts moving down the near empty street. They stop at a red light and Mel looks over at Quantum, "So are you going to tell me exactly what happened?"
"I went for a walk and fell. Nothing more than that."
"I really don't believe that Q, I know your a bad liar I've always been able to tell when you're trying to lie to someone. We grew up together remember?" The light turns green and Mel starts the car back down the road. "You best be lucky I found you before some guy, that would hurt you, maybe kill you."
"Oh please Mel! You know i can take care of myself, hell there are mostly humans in this city anyway, you know I'm stronger than any of them."
"Yeah? Well there's been a lot more furs coming to the city lately. They're the ones I'm concerned about." He stops at another light. Then looks at Quantum "So what happened?
"Look Mel if I am lying then I don't want to tell you, okay?" She slaps her hand on the door causing pain to shoot through it. She holds her hand against herself rocking back and forth. She looks at Mel and with pain in her voice says "Can we just drop it for now? I'll tell you when i want....NOT before." She Scowls at Mel then looks away as the lights begin to flash at the empty intersection. "You can go now, I want to get home."
She sits back in the seat and Mel shakes his head. "Fine have it your way, but I do want you to tell me, and soon, okay?" He starts the car down the road again as Quantum nods her head.
He pulls up to her house in a nice subdivision on the outskirts of the city, he's barely stopped the car when Quantum opens the door and gets out. "I'll see you later Mel" she says leaning down to see in the car.
"You sure you're okay? Last time something like i think happened, happened you hit the drink."
"Yeah I'll be fine Mel good night." she shuts the door and walks to her front door. She reaches under the welcome mat and pulls out a key then, after unlocking the door, places it back in it's hiding spot and walks in side shutting the door behind her, hard.
Melchoir shakes his head then says aloud to himself "That's what you said last time Q." He shifts the car into drive and drives away, worry stricken across his face.
