Delayed Embrace
The sights...The sounds of a busy city as seen and heard from ten floors up off the street, kinda makes you feel drunk...even without the wine. I don't think I've introduced myself, I'm called 'Barron'...I guess it's because my own fur is the color of a barren desert. I'm a Fennec Fox about Five foot Six inches tall...that's pretty tall for a Fennec in my opinion. You're probably thinking that I'm a poet or something because of the way I describe my home Havensfield; a suburb so to speak of Westgate City...nah...I couldn't write a poem to save my life.
I make my living as a runner for a company called 'Breakridge Corporation' it's not a bad gig...but there's definitely better out there. Actually, I haven't been living in Havensfield long, but long enough to inherit a great deal of money from an uncle who for one, I never really knew and two I didn't think gave a flying cowpie about me after the awful falling out we had. It has also been long enough to meet two kinds of women...the kind that only saw my money...and those who would USE me to get at the money. The last one, who actually cared about me, I lost contact with after we graduated from high school six years ago.
Sure, I've made my share of friends here...one friend I have here is one I graduated with and making a decent living for himself from what I can see as a bartender for one of Westgate's more upscale restaurants. I only asked one thing from my friends and that is that they don't treat me any differently because of my sudden inheritance, I mean...for pete's sake someone had to pass on in order for me to receive this seemingly generous windfall.
Once a month or so, I go to this place called "Gauter's", not a bad place really...it helps that my friend works there. Gauter's is a rather big place, it's one of those places where you have half of it as a restaurant and the other half a lounge and bar, usually it gets pretty crowded because it is commonly used for big corporate banquets, large parties and the like. Often enough, I go there to pretty much shoot the breeze with my friend, Sliver-a wolf roughly about six foot four inches in height is often in touch with the people we graduated with, and because of that...he has some pretty good connections. This time, I had no intention on just catching up...like me Sliver's single and on occasion, I'll try and set him up with someone, once in a while it actually works out, but Sliver never makes it last...or at the very least he doesn't try. Tonight, there really were some lookers in the crowd as there appeared to be a party going on in one of the other rooms, this got my attention as I looked to my friend asking 'Kinda busy tonight, eh?' Sliver got back to me while cleaning a few glasses 'yeah, some big corporation reserved the room for a banquet, the person who made the reservation said to not supply alcohol as this was both a banquet and a meeting of sorts'. He continued 'so for now, it's a dry crowd' Sliver explained, with the looks of some of the people that might change' Sliver was a good judge of people so I took his word for it.
I knew it wasn't Breakridge...our banquet wasn't for another month or two...it was always in time for 'Genesis Day' weekend, and we're MOST CERTAINLY not a 'dry crowd'. 'Hey, Red' as Sliver as well as one other would call me as a reference to a historical figure called the 'Red Baron'. He continued 'do you remember that vixen we graduated with?' sure enough I remembered as she was the only one who didn't make fun of me in high school, as I came back to my friend 'I'm assuming you're talking about Azure, why do you wanna know?' I asked him kind of taken aback. Sliver told me that he caught up with her a few months ago and found out that one of Breakridge's competitors 'AdvanTech' had hired her for the mailroom shortly after graduation. Six years later Azure had made her way into upper management, not bad if I do say so myself. Sliver asked me 'do you think this is who she works for?' I shrugged my shoulders 'could be, Breakridge has a lot of competition'.
Soon the party in the other room died down and some left, the rest filtered out and to the bar. I looked to Sliver "looks like you're on, bud" I said matter-of-factly. I caught him gazing at three women that came out of the room, A Brown Mare...not bad looking, but Equine aren't for me. A Red Wolfess...she definitely knew how to dress and make herself presentable, stunning, but Wolves freak me out. Finally a Blue Vixen followed, I damn near choked on my drink when I took a closer look at the vixen and I knew she saw me, I panicked and shot out of my seat. 'Hey Sliver, that red Wolfess was looking at you...make nice, got me?' He looked at me weird before retorting 'Red, where the hell are you going?' I snapped back 'I forgot about an appointment and I'm late, gotta go man.' I said as I made a quick walk out of the room and more or less ran home.
A couple of weeks had passed and Sliver's been calling me informing me that the Blue Vixen had been asking about me, I told him that I had been kinda busy the last couple of weeks. He didn't believe that as he told me to get my head out of my ass and talk to her, I was right about something though...that wolfess was checking Sliver out and now they're on the verge of engagement. He had also informed me that I was reeking of 'chicken stink' and, that the next time he sees that he's going to kick me in a place I never use. Sometimes, Sliver can be a real jerk...but he means well, hardly ever does he ever make fun of someone for his own jollies.
Another week went by and I had noticed some moving trucks down below, another advantage to living ten floors up off the ground, a lot of people have been moving to here due do AdvanTech's expansion into Havensfield. More time passed and I saw more and more of that Blue Vixen that I saw when I last went to Gauter's...this started to make me a little nervous, had she moved into the building or was she just seeing a friend? The trucks left almost as quickly as they came, and I thought no more of it until a couple days later when our building, in order to make this a friendly place to live...we do a kind of 'meet and greet' to anyone new coming into the building. I ended up running home from work that day and stupid me I drank a ton of water because it had been so hot in the office...someone had messed with the thermostat and as a result...I really had to go. When I got home, some people were in middle of their meet and greet and as I passed by all I heard was 'and you are?' from one of the residents, only to hear the blue vixen come back with her name. 'I'm Azure' she said, I froze, then panicked again bolting for the elevator...I wasn't being rude...I was holding half of Crystal Falls inside me.
I called up Sliver after I took care of business 'Azure moved in here! You sent her here didn't you!? Now what am I gonna do?' I yelled at him freaking out now. Silver only laughed a bit before going serious on me 'you don't have much choice...you have to make nice with her, also you have another chance to ask her out. Grow a pair and get your head out of your ass already, use the chance wisely or don't call me again...got me, Red?' he said sharply, man...talk about harsh. The heat from the office and running home and such left me extremely tired, I couldn't think straight so I went to bed early, I would figure out what to do tomorrow morning...Saturdays are good for thinking. I didn't get much sleep as images of Azure flooded my subconscious...huh...guess she made more of an impact than I thought. Her blue fur, red and silver streaked hair...and those ice blue eyes...not to mention she had a body to die for, and over and above that...she was smart as a whip, that was what I respected most about her.
The next morning, I woke up to find my bed in disarray...my body and my bed soaked in sweat as well as an odd scent in my room, it was as if someone had mated in my room. That settled it, today I was talking to Azure come hell or high water. Sliver might have been on to something all along, more and more I was seeing what he saw. It's only been a couple of days, and as I got out of bed and did my morning routine, I was beginning to wonder if anyone talked to Azure since she moved in much less gave her a hand with her unpacking. When I had finished with everything, I had set out to pick up a few things and as I left the building I had asked where Azure was, building management knew me well and had told me that she was in 502, five floors below me...coincidentally, her birthday as well...May 2nd. I knew that because she had told me as such in high school.
One by one I finished my errands, and on the way back I stopped in the bakery and bought one of those Super Big Cupcakes...for some reason this place made them freakin' huge. It was only about a day and a half to Azure's Birthday. . .and I figured this would be a good way of starting out, with that I finished my business at the bakery and headed home. When I got home and made my way to the elevator, I paused for a second before pushing the call button, once the elevator came to my floor I got in an pushed the button for the fifth floor, it seemed to take forever to get up there and the longer it took, the more nervous I became. By the time I got to the fifth floor I was in a cold sweat, I stepped out of the elevator, finding my way to 502...taking a deep breath I rang the doorbell, holding the macro sized cupcake behind my back.
There was no answer at first, on one hand I was relieved that no one answered, but on the other I was disappointed too, I was finally ready and no one was there. As I thought to walk away I heard a click, it was the peephole on her door opening and closing, as soon Azure opened the door with her arms crossed afterwards with a pseudo-angry look on her face. 'Are you going to introduce yourself this time, Mister Twitchy?' she asked, and rightly so, I fidgeted for a moment, then I answered as best I could. 'I'm sorry about that, it was rude of me to make tracks like that, but if I had stayed I would have embarrassed us both, something about peeing yourself kinda does that' I winced after I said that, wishing I didn't say that. I introduced myself 'I'm Barron, I live upstairs on the tenth floor...and you are?' I said with a grin of sorts. Azure tapped her head for a moment, then she saw the stripe on the left side of my face, as if this made her remember something those ice blue eyes of hers lit up 'Barron Mirimar?!' I smiled, it's been six years and she's remembered my name. 'That's my name...I still didn't get yours' I said with a slight grin, as she looked at me like 'you damn well know', I stood there waiting. She finally gave in 'Azure...Azure Seablaid, well geez! get in here, Red we have six years of catching up to do!'
Indeed we did, I found out that she worked for Breakridge before the split that nearly crippled the company, she was a runner for the R&D department two years before I came to work for Breakridge. She said she would have stayed with Breakridge, except she needed the kind of money that AdvanTech was offering. It made sense and I understood completely...it's not easy living in Brookside, rents and living costs are always on the rise, and Azure simply had to keep her head above water.
The day went on and I helped Azure unpack and get her belongings straightened up, eventually coming up on her yearbook...I was amazed that she kept it all this time. By now, people had helped her put her shelving back together and so as I unpacked what belonged there I put it in an appropriate place, save the yearbook which I had left on the table on purpose. 'Hey Azure, do you mind if I looked at your yearbook? My aunt's kids trashed mine a couple years back' she came back to me from the other room shouting 'you found it?...yeah, sure...go ahead.' After that, I sat down on the couch flipping through the pages, and I remembered how strange my school was, then I found our class photos, yeesh...I looked like a dork then, I wondered how is it that I didn't get beaten up then I saw Azure's picture. Just as I thought...she was so cute then...now...it's like she's made improvements on an already seemingly perfect person.
After long, there wasn't much left to do except clean up the mess we made, I had noticed that she hadn't eaten since probably before came over, and that was well over six hours ago and this gave me an idea and an opportunity to make my thoughts known to Azure. 'Azure, I'm about done here, would you want to go out and get something to eat?' I asked innocently enough. Soon she replied 'it would be a while before I was ready to go, is that okay?' I responded 'Sure, but I'd advise dressing nice, I have to go get cleaned up...so I'll be back in about forty-five minutes or so, alright?' she simply smiled and I thought I heard a giggle, before I left.
I showered, dressed and otherwise made myself presentable...I knew how to dress when I wanted to and when I was done and ready I went back to Azure's. She must have been ready before me because when I came back and knocked on the door, she answered almost immediately, I was awestruck when I saw her...she was in a crimson red dress that seemed to compliment the blue of her fur the same with the eye shadow that she put on, if I looked lower I probably would just stand there like an idiot all night. 'So...where are we going?" she asked, I raised my arm for her to take 'how about the place where you saw me run like a bolt of lightning? how does Gauter's sound?' I asked. She took my arm 'sounds good to me, let's go then' she said as we left the building, it left me wondering if she caught on to my interest in her.
We cabbed it to Gauter's and got there about twenty minutes afterwards and since they knew me by sight, strangely we were seated almost immediately, there was enough time to get a table cleared off for us as we sat down just as they were finished clearing. As time went on, I found myself more at ease around Azure, perhaps all I needed was some time to grow up to fully appreciate someone of Azure's Caliber. Things went well I thought, we caught up some more bringing each other up to speed. Eventually, Azure raised the question 'So, what's next for you, Red?' she asked me lightly scratching her glass with her neatly trimmed clawtips, I looked at her grinning 'Well...there is this girl I'm seeing, and I don't know...so far it's looking pretty good' I was really dropping the hint now. She stood up, grinning as well...which needless to say, caught me off guard. She looked me in the eyes...then gave me a quick peck on the cheek, she knew who I was talking about now, when she said 'Same here' back to me as I thought to myself 'Damn, she's smart.'
We began to reminisce about high school and got to talking about our high school crushes...she was almost surprised to hear about my crush on her, she then told me that she had one on me as well, but thought I was avoiding her because of the crowd I hung out with. When I told her it was because I couldn't gather the courage to ask her out, She smiled first, then told me 'you know, all you had to do was talk to me...I was your friend too, then' I answered back 'I know, I just didn't want to ruin that by doing something that I didn't understand, the whole idea was foreign and scary to me.' She asked after that 'what about now? is it still scary?' I simply shook my head. Soon, we agreed that the time for crushes has come and gone and should be left in high school and also wanted to see where this could go, from the vibe I got...there was nothing to stop us from going all the way...to the altar.
We had left Gauter's about an hour and a half later, we both told each other jokes got into a few debates over world issues, local news and just general opinion and a good time was had by all and we decided to walk back. Now that I think about it, it wasn't that long of a walk...but we were no more than a half a block's distance from home when a Rottweiler jumped out of the shadows, brandishing a weapon. Needless to say, this scared the hell out of Azure...but was able to quickly get it together, the Rott demanded money, I refused and he came in to attack. I dodged him and in three hits, he was out cold, one hit to disarm...one to stun...and one to knock the poor guy out, Azure had called the police and by the time I was finished...the police were there. The cops were looking for this guy, to get him off of the streets and into rehab, as I was told by the arresting officer. I explained what happened and what I had to do and I was let go, and after all was said and done, I took Azure home...she was shaking like a leaf, the look on her face, I'll never forget as it was one of sheer terror. What should I do now? Would it be inappropriate to stay over until she felt safe? should I go home? or wait to see if she asks me to stay? I became concerned, but held off my decision until we got back, she was in bad shape.
I waited, she was simply too scared to be left alone, I assured her that I would be back that I needed a few things from my place, so I went home as fast as I could and in a flurry of motion I grabbed two changes of clothing, toiletries and an old teddy I kept for sentimental value and packed it all up in a duffel and raced back to Azure. When I got back, she was huddled inside a blanket, I guess she changed, while I went to get my belongings, I sat down next to her, putting down my duffel as I gave her a tight hug, letting Azure know I was there...finally she stopped shaking.
Next thing I knew, I felt something on the back of my head...Azure had hit me upside my head. 'Ow! What was that for?' I asked rubbing the back of my head, she replied 'You could've been killed, showing off like that!' it seemed that she thought on that for a moment 'but you weren't showing off...were you?...you were protecting me?' she sounded so surprised that anyone would come to her aid or her rescue. 'I meant what I said at dinner, Azure...I love you and no one...I mean no one will harm you as long as I am around, okay?' I said kissing her on her forehead. 'I have something for you' I mentioned as I pulled the teddy out of the bag, she looked at me curiously 'you gave me this when I was too scared to leave home to venture out on my own, please take it.' I pleaded, she was taken aback, then took the teddy.
A few hours had passed, and we were both tired...'I'm afraid that I have nowhere for you to sleep, Red' Azure said to me, I came back 'it's okay, I can sleep on the floor.' Azure next said something that caught me off guard, I totally was not expecting this when she asked me 'Why not come to bed with me? it's big enough for two.' I fidgeted for a moment 'I can't azure...it wouldn't be right.' A frustrated look came upon Azure's face as if not understanding what I said, then just as quickly it dawned on her, throughout high school, I prided myself on being a decent person. 'It'll be okay, Red...besides...I don't yet feel completely safe, so please?' she got me there, leaving me little choice...she was on the debate team in high school and she was damn good so I wasn't winning this little argument, so I conceded and took her up on her offer, considering this a test of my restraint.
Night came and went...nothing happened, but on the other hand I didn't think I would enjoy being in bed with someone else. It wasn't bad, just one thing bothered me...when we fell asleep we were close, but not too close...and when we woke up...I woke up with Azure in my arms. She took a light sigh, I didn't hear it...'See? that wasn't so bad...was it?'. Azure asked, chuckling. 'No, not at all' I said kissing at the back of her neck 'how are you now?' I asked concerned a little bit taking last night into consideration. 'Better' she said, but continued 'but now, I don't want you to leave' that last bit seemed to have come out of nowhere. 'Shh...I don't want to leave either, but understand that don't want to be a burden either' I said.
Just then, I heard my cell go off...I thought to myself 'who in the thousand hells would call me on a Sunday?' Sliver knows not to call me so early, let alone on a Sunday 'I'm sorry Azure, I need to take this call' Azure pouted a bit, but accepted it so I took the call. It was my boss, there was a guy I worked with that was supposed to come in, monitor the office so to speak and take care of anything that came his way...he called my boss claiming to be sick and there was no one else available, my boss apologized and said that he'll take the next two weekends to make up for today. I hung up with my boss, hanging my head...I wanted to spend more time with Azure, it was infact her birthday. I went back to Azure and explained everything and what it could me if I refused. 'I swear, Azure...I'll be back around four o'clock and if you want to go out, we'll go anywhere you want, okay?' she gave a coy smile and nodded. I did my time in at work . . .there was nothing to do and nobody there to monitor...a waste of six hours of my time, after that I went home, showered and changed and went back to Azure like I promised. I came back and something was different...as if Azure was setting something up, but was not quite finished yet, I soon found Azure ready to go out, she said she needed a few things and asked me if I wanted to tag along, this was a perfect opportunity to see the more playful side of Azure, I jumped at the chance.
She went clothing shopping, tried on a few things, showed them to me...including a swimsuit she bought...when she shown me, I went red in the face...the rest of the day I couldn't get the image of her body out of my head...and from time to time, it would show, I think she saw it once. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing that side of Azure, but when we got back I had to be at my place to receive a package, and when I told this to Azure...again she pouted, she was up to something damnit, but once again she understood. So I went home, and the package came more or less on time, I had ordered a pair of drumsticks for Azure...she was a damn good drummer, I had the privilege to see her play, I noticed last night a pair of broken drumsticks, heh, I guess these came just in time.
I wrapped the drumsticks up, then went back to Azure's and I knocked on the door, when I heard a voice 'it's open'...I shrugged and opened the door walking in. When I closed the door...the lights were dimmed, the table was candle-lit, I knew it...this led me to say 'Someone's been busy" she came back at me saying 'Did you actually think I'd sit still today?' Azure got me there. I was amazed at the surroundings, and I haven't even seen Azure yet, 'Of course not, it's just this could send the wrong signal' I said jokingly.
Whatever she was working on, she turned it down before walking to me wearing a low cut shirt, which showed off her upper body well, as well as a form-fitting skirt. 'I would think the signal would have been loud and clear' Azure said getting right to the point, coming close to me, putting her arms around my neck. 'Don't you think we're rushing things a bit?' I asked, out of concern, she looked at the ceiling, rolling her eyes a little 'hmm, no I don't think so, think about it...it's not like we're complete strangers, we knew each other so well in high school...we're just picking up where we left off.' She wasn't going to let up, so I smiled 'alright, alright...I should've known better than to argue with you' with that she kissed me on the nose, then went back to what she was doing, she was making dinner for the two of us, I tried to help but she shooed me out of the kitchen and not long after that dinner was ready and she brought it to the table, but not before I left a surprise on her counter, out of her way.
Dinner went well, making idle chat...her jokes were ten times better than Sliver's and soon I was laughing really hard, and some how she made them funny without being vulgar. One more thing bothered me...what was she up to? I mean if the signals she's sending are what I think they are...I'm in trouble...I love her but, I don't want to do something to mess that up. It seemed like she picked up on that because once again she came over to me, making me scooch my chair back, as she sat down side-saddle on my lap, putting one arm behind my neck, then put her other hand lightly on the side of my face, just over the stripe. 'Red, it'll be okay...even though Sliver can be a real jerk sometimes, he is your best friend and told me that you're not used to this kind of attention' she said comforting me a little 'you don't think any less of me for that? I asked with he shaking her head 'No, infact the world needs more people who think about who they're with as opposed to forcing themselves upon others' She said reassuringly, this calmed me down enough to finish dinner.
We went out after dinner, to see a movie infact...neither of us remember what movie it was. We might have gone to see a movie...but we barely paid attention to it as by the end of it we had been staring at each other up until the last few scenes where the last little bit of resistance between us...shattered and we started kissing. No. We started making out...right there in the theater and we didn't care who saw us. As things progressed, Azure did something I wasn't expecting, she had reached her hand from my chest to my crotch, running her delicate fingers down to where my sac was and began to rub there, forcing my arousal to come about. After a while of this, I stopped her slowly while kissing her on the lips 'Let's take this home, where we could be more comfy, hm?' She whined a little, but soon agreed that the seats weren't too comfortable and so we went home...in a hurry of sorts.
She more or less hung onto my arm the whole way home, playing with my long ears, which I didn't mind really. We got to her place when something snapped in the back of my head 'Aw, Nuts! I forgot something Azure, I will be right back!' and with that I jetted to my place to get the package that came earlier, originally I was going to send them to Azure...but then she moved here so it made more sense to give these to her in person. As I went for my door, I heard a knocking...I answered the door, no sooner did I open the door Azure jumped onto me wrapping her arms around my neck kissing me on the lips 'I saw the cupcake you left for me, you remembered!' I laughed a little letting Azure climb off for a moment 'I'm not done yet' at this point I handed her the package she unwrapped the drumsticks and her eyes went as big as quarters.
'I noticed your drum set and your broken sticks, now you can make music once again, happy birthday, Azure' She eyes teared up, putting the box on the table, placing her hands on the sides of my face planting a deep kiss on my lips, I then returned the kiss to let her know that she wasn't alone here. After a while, she broke the kiss starting to lead me to my room 'this is it' I thought...then out of nowhere, my nerves started to show again when Azure spoke softly to me 'Like I said earlier, Red...it's not like we're complete strangers, we're just picking up where we left off ' this eased me a little. 'Just do me a favor, hm...if at anytime you're uncomfortable with anything, let me know and I'll stop, okay?' with that she smiled and kissed me again like she did at the movies, caressing my sac again as my hands rested on her shoulders.
Things were heating up as she caressed my netherregions, as my hands moved from her shoulders, sliding them down the sides of her midsection getting to the bottom of her shirt as I broke the kiss 'mmm, do you want me to take this off for you?' I said as I continued to slide my hands at her midsection. She must've liked the touch as she was breathing through her teeth while nodding to answer my question, all the while the massaging has made my sheath stir and swell up inside my pants, my tip rubbing up against the denim that made up my pants. I then happily obliged Azure by removing her shirt by sliding my hands to her waist, bringing them up slightly so that my hands slid under the bottom of her shirt. Azure wriggled at my touch with a kind of anticipation as I slid my hands up to remove her shirt, they would travel all the way up running my digits over her ample, yet firm breasts, she helped me out by raising her arms so I could get the shirt off.
No sooner did I do that, she undid her bra letting it drop to the floor as I tossed the shirt aside. The shirt didn't make it to the ground before Azure managed to unbuckle, unbutton and loosen my pants enough to let them drop to the ground as the shirt landed I dropped my boxers, stepping back a bit to remove them both from my legs, the room soon was flooded with my scent. Azure took in a deep breath, as I watched her breasts heave and drop, I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing, I took another step back to get a good look at her. She had markings too, they were kinda cool, the blue formed up into two pair of fangs underneath her breasts and at her belly button, it was as if the blue fur was trying to eat the white fur up. She put her hand on her hip, shifting her weight to one foot, grinning at me with a kind of piercing gaze 'So, do you see something you like?' I walked up to her and kissed her on the side of her neck as I heard her murr a little 'of course I do, but there is still one problem...how is it I'm naked' I paused tugging at her waistline with one of my fingers and then continued 'and you're not?' she chuckled a bit 'is that all? well, I know how you like to do things all by yourself, so what are you waiting for?' I simply shook my head, went back to her, nipped at her neck reaching around unclasping the hook and lowering the small zipper to where it meets about a half an inch above her full tail, it became loose enough to give way and drop to the floor as she lowered her panties and kicked them off as we now stood there in the buff.
The mix of scents, flooded both of our noses...we were both ready, the question was....who was going to make the first move?
