The story must go on! Lee and Jessie try to relax, but Regis needs some answers...
Lee and Jessie collapsed on the sofa, still laughing. Granted, it was a bit mean of them to laugh at Eddie's plight, it was still too funny given his track record of women turning lesbian after dating the kangaroo. Plus after Eric being the victim of a gay bashing, it was a relief to laugh.
"I am so tired," Lee said. His body felt like a lead weight, trapped by the gravity of the sofa.
Jessie nodded. "I think a nap is needed." They had been at the hospital waiting room all night, and he felt he could sleep for a solid day.
Still chuckling to himself, Lee managed to stand up despite his exhaustion. "Sounds good to me," he said as he stretched. "I gotta go to the bathroom, though."
Jessie smirked, trying to give Lee's rump a playful swat. "You think you can stay awake for that?"
As Lee dodged the swat and left the living room, someone knocked on the front door. "I hope so, because you get to answer the door," he called from the confines of the bathroom.
Jessie shook his head. "We're popular today," he said to himself.
Looking through the peephole, he saw it was Regis. The sight of the large zebra made his stomach lurch, just like the last time Lee's older brother was at the door. He was dressed in a blue sleeveless shirt and blue jeans. And he was scowling.
The last time Regis was at their apartment, Jessie thought he was going to be in trouble with Regis. This time he knew he was in trouble, because as soon as he opened the door the zebra shot him a dark look.
"You'n me gotta have ourselves a talk, son," Regis drawled.
Jessie's ears flattened against his skull as his tail immediately tucked between his legs.
Oooooooh, shit, thought Jessie.
