Alone in a Harsh World-Chapter 4
The two settle down for a normal life when something interesting comes up.
CHAPTER 4
Taking a sip of the juice once more before he would continue, Tirol let out a sigh trying to hold on to the sweet memory of that night. "We left our home for the cabin 2 hours later...none of us were able to sleep much after that so we enjoyed the fire until the knock came for us to leave. Lucky enough the helicopter landed near the house so no one really saw us leave, which allowed us to have a wonderful honeymoon away from anything troublesome of the pack."
"So everything went without a hitch?" Daphne asked.
"Aye, considering on how busy we had been since meeting together." Tirol answered shaking his head.
"So how did you get charged with attempted murder and rape?" Alva asked.
"About two months ago sometime after we had returned from the honeymoon, we got into a routine of work and being together. Daily on the clock to avoid from complications introduced into our systems, we went about going and getting injections to help suppress any kind of dangerous side effects from the drugs. We spent a lot of time together whenever we weren't busy with other things, nevertheless a month ago she became emotional and all that it became confusing at times."
"Sounds like she was pregnant at the time." Alva threw in causing Tirol to chuckle a little. Having to deal with his own wife with two girls, Alva could've offered a whole book full of advice on the subject.
"Well, anyways I went and talked with Kia about getting Miri a gift for our anniversary...
"However I honestly don't know what to get her, Kia." Tirol said walking with his sister-in law down a path leading away from his home. He was glad that she agreed to meet with him when she had a chance knowing that like him she was extremely busy.
"Mmmmm, true. Miri is a tough person to get something for. Do you have a price range?" Kia asked.
"None set; she has been an emotional roller coaster lately so I wanted to get her something great to show her how much she means to me." He answered.
"I think I got the perfect idea, can we meet before you two go for training in the morning?" she asked.
"Yeah, when do you want to meet?" he asked.
"Why not at the medical center after you get your injection. It will take only a few minutes."
"Okay, I don't see any problems with that." He said before saying good-bye as he started walking back to the house while Kia continued on toward her own place. Both were unaware of a figure watching from the shadows evil intent ranging through the figures brain.
Later that night as Miri lay in the hot tube allowing the water massage her shoulders enjoying the sweet calm night air that was coming with the night that blew right through the area. Walking up behind her, Tirol smiled as he brought up a glass of tea in front of her as he kissed her ear causing her to purr in pleasure as she leaned back into the kiss.
"Thanks, hon." She said taking the glass from him as he joined her easing into the water.
"How are you feeling? You seemed a bit off this month lately." He said looking a bit concern about her well-being. He had become a very caring person about his own mate's safety lately as he wasn't sure what was going on.
"A bit tired, don't worry love...I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow after our injections." She explained offering a sweet smile as if she already knew what was wrong but didn't want to spoil it for him wanting to surprise him.
"I will stay with you for it as class doesn't need both me and Dominic there." He said really concern as he knew that Kia would understand with Tirol wanting to be with Miri just in case it's something serious.
"Nonsense, it's probably just the flu or something nothing too serious. I will let you know when I get out and come to class." She said enjoying the tea.
"Well, I do have to meet with someone at the medical center anyways, so I can wait for you." He said although he knew that she was in the best of care at the medical center.
"Oh? What for?" she asked curious.
"It's a surprise for you," is all that he told her causing her to raise an eyebrow.
"What are you up to, love? Going against pack rules is not something that you want to do especially for you being accepted only a year ago."
"It's nothing, love, I promise as I am not going against the rules for this. I do have a few things that I need to take care of." He said offering a sweet smile. "You will see when it's ready, I promise."
Miri smiled once more going to lay back into the hot tub until something else popped up in her mind. "Oh that reminds me, our courier came back from town on a monthly trip and this came in the mail for you." She said handing over a finely address envelope to him.
Looking down at the letter as he flipped it open allowing his eyes to scan over the information before a smile crossed his face. "Looks like it's that time all ready, my high school reunion is coming up in a couple of days."
"Ooh sounds fun. When is it supposed to occur?" she asked sitting up.
"Hey now, do you honestly think that the council will agree to allow us to leave the pack grounds again after the last incident nearly cost us both our lives?" he asked handing over the letter to her.
"Doesn't hurt to try anyways as I told you, you don't lose your complete freedom when you join a pack, it's just that this way any occurrence of a possible accident happening would be unlikely. So let's say if you were still on your first full moons where you were experiencing changes, then the council wouldn't agree to it. However you are way past those so the possibility of being allowed off pack grounds is likely and just because there was that incident, what are the possibilities of it happening again?" she asked stating the facts.
"You got a point there; it would be nice to see my old friends once more. Would you like to come?" he asked putting the letter down before returning to hot tub.
"You couldn't keep me from joining you in on this one." She said grinning.
The problems started from there as the two began getting ready for the reunion; the next morning after he had gotten the proper injection and some screening was done, Tirol met Kia in the visitor's area. Quickly she offered him like she promised the perfect gift and idea for the anniversary time for the two giving him a wink before leaving him to do the rest of the planning. Taking the items and knowledge offered with great care, he started back toward the area to the proper area to wait for Miri to come out.
When he came into the room, he found that she was chatting with the doctor about something that he couldn't make out properly forcing him to take a seat putting away the material away wanting to avoid from spoiling the surprise for her. Tirol was even more surprised that the two didn't ask him to come forward so he could find out what the doctor had found out about the exam.
Moreover as they finally did separate and Miri approached him did he get a feeling of a mixture of happiness and uneasiness not about something else but of Tirol's commitment all together. "Everything okay?" he asked her as they left the center heading for their own duties. At first she didn't answer him looking to be deep in thought until he placed a hand on her shoulder giving it a gentle shake.
"Huh? What?" she asked if coming out of a daze.
"What did the doctor say?" he asked her again.
"Oh ummm nothing. Did you talk with the person that you were meeting?" she asked.
"Yep, got everything that I needed right here." He said offering a smile patting the bag slung over his shoulder.
"Are you going to tell me what it is?" she asked with a curious smile.
"Okay, I will give you a hint...it's for our anniversary." He said with a wink.
"Oh and Kia is helping you with the planning?" she answered with a tease.
"Oh come now, I am not going to tell you that, I don't want you to be bothering my sister-in law for information." He told her giving her a grin. "Now are you going to tell me about what the doctor found out?"
"Now, that would be telling. Anyways, it will be your present." She answered in kind.
"Oh, not even a hint?"
"Any hint that I do give you would give it away."
"Okay, I give up."
The next day after finishing up classes for the afternoon and assisting with putting away all of the gear for the afternoon knowing that the next group would be there soon. That was one thing about the weapons training nothing got boring around there as there were two different sets of classes as everyone learned about each weapon at a certain age. When he first started working with Dominic learning what he needed to trying to fit into the pack in the process, Tirol was able to find out that although it didn't seem like it there were several youths that needed to be trained and it wasn't always youths from this pack.
Amazingly there were several other packs that would come to the grounds not only for keeping the pack relations but also that when a new weapon or something that may help other packs survive longer is discovered or built, then its passed on. That's where Dominic and Tirol's job came in was to properly train who was sent to them in the proper use of the new AK. And boy did it get busy at times to the point that by the end he was ready to fall asleep when he and Miri climbed into bed.
One of the most interesting things were that word did spread around that Tirol wasn't a born werewolf which seemed to cause a uneasy stir among of the elderly members of the visiting pack until they came to view the new weapon. Then they got a sense that even if he wasn't a true blood, Tirol knew what he was doing with the weapon well before the council would ever allow him to train anyone.
One of the funniest things that Tirol seemed to experience when there were females in the students that would visit them was the occasional inspection of him as he continued to go through the layout of the weapons. However they soon got the idea that he was already mated to Miri although he still got a few friendly ones that he kept shrugging it off because he wasn't going to be found untrue to his mate.
Locking the final weapons case in the shed, Tirol walked back to where Miri was sitting on the ground resting already clearly sweating from the matches. Retrieving a water bottle from his bag, he flopped down on to the ground besides her offering it to her which she took it gladly.
"The classes never get easier, huh?" he asked which she nodded to it.
"Never, how about you? You still getting the females gawking at you like a piece of meat?" she asked laughing at him lightly with a smirk on her face. Even though he had been getting the looks of desire from the females, she knew that he was faithful no matter at times when it didn't seem like it.
One thing that was asked of each member of the pack was that they treat visiting pack members like members of your own pack, and it was the same for the visitors. So when the females tried hitting another male of the pack, it's generally a good idea to explain that they be told that the male is either mated or may not be interested. Of course that didn't mean that relationships between two werewolves from two different packs didn't happen, when male or female couldn't find someone that they thought might be a good mate in the pack would probably find someone from a visiting pack. Miri went about explaining that it was how new blood was brought into the pack and how alliances were strengthened also.
Tirol was amazed to learn that Miri's older sister had in fact fallen in love with an Alpha from a different pack. Reaching back into his memory, he remembered that he did meet her and her family, actually Tirol's nieces actually played with their children the most throughout the night.
"Once in a while, but I have gotten use to them by now. I remember how Kia told me about that being normal but I still not use to it." He commented shrugging once more. "Hey, I am about to go to see your father about the reunion, up for coming along?"
"Always, anyways there isn't a lot to do right now until the next group comes in." she said finishing off the bottle of water tossing it into the waste basket before standing up offering a hand to help him up. Smirking as he stood up using her hand to get him standing once more, Tirol looked forward to getting away from the open terrain and back into the village. Making their way down from the hill top passing several members of the visiting packs that were waiting for the next class who offered the pair a nod as they passed on by.
As long as they don't disrespect or disrupt the pack territory or day to day life and goings on, they could do anything that is permitted while they stayed with the pack. Nevertheless, there were rules agreed upon by all pack councils far before their life time to the point that if the visitors would to do anything in the sort that was listed, they would be asked or told to leave the grounds immediately. Then on the extreme cases or conditions both packs went about setting up required to be followed everywhere no matter if the person(s) were visiting a pack.
In the conditions, both packs will set punishment for the person(s) from what Dominic and Miri had told him was there were cases in which that the members were usually banned from returning to the pack grounds ever again. Now many that weren't use to the pack and the rules that set up even for humans visiting, many would think that it would cause conflicts within the packs or other packs which may have led to a war.
However even in the worst of the conflicts that have happened, if a group or individual visits the pack and does something to cause a problem there the pack has the right to ask or make the person leave. Now if it was someone in that pack that causes the incident then they will be dealt with by the council and a set of actions may be taken further because of the fact that the person(s) has insulted the packs honor and that cannot be forgiven.
Proceeding into the council building knowing that the council wouldn't be in the meeting hall at this point causing the two to head for Turek's main office located on the upper floor of the chambers. Finishing the long climb up the stairwell as Tirol groaned turning to Miri once more. "Geez don't you guys know how to keep things on a two story building?"
Miri giggled at that offering a grin. "You will get used to it, don't worry not all of the buildings have stairs or more than 2 levels."
"Good cause I would suggest setting rules for those kinds of things." He answered as they stepped up into a good size office where they were welcomed by a secretary that was going through mail as they approached. Looking up from her work, she smile offering a greeting to both even Tirol which felt even more welcomed.
Making sure that the Alpha wasn't currently busy to see them, she gave them the go ahead where they found Turek working over daily reports pertaining to something. Looking up, he offered a welcoming smile to them. "Ah, my children...so nice that you stopped by. I was going to stop by before the council went into session as I wanted to let you two know that since the other packs have received new training from you two on new weapons developed, that a couple of attacks were stopped."
"We can't receive all of the credit, sir...Dominic and everyone in the pack deserves credit also." Tirol said.
"That's true and everyone will receive similar acknowledgements of course." Turek answered setting the files off to the side before turning back to them. "So what brings you to my office today? Let me guess, that you two have decided to give me and your mother grandchildren."
"Dad!" Miri called out in surprise a bright crimson blush offering a laugh. "Please we will let you and mom knows when to expect grandchildren. No we came here for a different reason."
