Alone in a harsh world-Chapter 6
A new day starts however a rival aiming to take Tirol away from Miri is revealed and further plots are set in motion.
CHAPTER 6
Sleeping in knowing that his duties would be shifted to the graveyard shift of duty might've been the best idea in Tirol's mind at that point however he found himself getting up earlier than Miri with several things in mind that needed to be taken care of before the guard duty. Slipping out of his mates snuggle and arms, he grabbed a robe hanging on the door slipping it on before leaving the room trying to avoid from waking her up since she still had about 3 hours to sleep it was up to her if she wanted to sleep in.
Stepping down into the kitchen throwing together a breakfast for the pair figuring that Miri would soon find out that he wasn't there, allowing the coffee pot to fill ¾ of the way which was general enough for Miri to last throughout the day. Having been married to her for nearly a year all ready, Tirol still didn't understand of how she could stand to drink the awful tasting liquid however the only thing that he could do was shrug.
Lucky enough he wasn't stuck with drinking it himself as the local store in the village had much more drink than coffee so one of the few things that he had bought when it was his turn to get groceries was something that he could stand drinking. Ranging from Pepsi to strawberry kiwi in bottles includes a case or two of bottled water for days when it was truly hot outside when the pair were training others.
Just as he turned back to the stove adding spices to the meal as he turned to the different pans in front of him, he heard Miri step into the room. "You are the last person that I would think would be up at this time in the morning especially when you don't have to be on duty until tonight."
"Had a few things that I need to do today including grocery shopping and getting the regular shots. Plus I have to meet up with Mcich to go over guard duty for the night." Tirol answered turning back to her. "What about you, love? You still have about 2 hours to sleep."
"Whenever you move and get out of bed it's easier to tell when you are up and I must say it's easier for me to sleep with you there. Although you toss and turn a lot nowadays, I would've thought you would've gotten more use to being in an unknown environment or being married." She explained moving over to the countertop retrieving a coffee cup from the cupboard before filling it up with coffee. "Not sleeping well?"
Letting out a sigh coming to a direct stop. "Something just seems to be bothering me is all, however it's nothing right now."
"Something like what my father had told you last night while I was talking with mom?" she asked raising an eyebrow which caused him to smile. "Love, remember what I told you about the senses being enhanced? Including hearing."
"I can tell that keeping secrets from you are going to be harder." He answered letting out a laugh. "Your father has a way of putting pressure on you when he figures that you may do something stupid."
"It's the general duty of an Alpha, Tirol..." she answered however there seemed to be something that she hadn't reveal however she wasn't about to let on what it was. Quickly changing the subject while retaking her seat, "oh before I forget, love. Tom has a few items that I special ordered the other day, can you pick it up while you are roaming around today?"
"Sure, a new set of weapons come in for you?" he asked with a smile. Miri's own collection of weapons that had once hung in her bedroom now sat in the couple's library hanging around the bookcases that held many collections of books of Tirol's and Miri's added to a nice family room for them to be together.
"Nah, more like hiking gear for the pair of us." She answered with a grin.
"Hiking gear? I thought we aren't allowed off the grounds without permission?" he asked even more surprised than ever about this.
"Mom gave the okay as long as we get back before we have our classes & without being caught or noticed." She answered with confidence.
"Miri..." he said a deep growl of frustration forming in his throat which only came out whenever something either irritated him or the wolf. "Come on, the reunion isn't that important to me not as the risk that may occur to us if we are caught away from the grounds. Either by your father or the enemy."
"Don't worry, Kia is supposed to be making a trip through there picking up supplies, mail and my new car. She will pick us up and take us back to pack territory well before we are missed." Miri went about explaining.
"You take a lot of risks for such a person being the boss's daughter." Tirol answered shaking his head. "You shouldn't risk such things for me."
"Again don't worry about me. The way that we've worked together we can pull this off." She said standing after finishing off what remained in her cup. "Do I have enough time for a shower before breakfast is ready?"
"Yeah, you should have enough time." He answered hearing her leave once more leaving him to his thoughts.
After finishing off a healthy breakfast and getting everything put away after being cleaned, the couple departed their peaceful home heading first for the medical center to receive their daily shots although the good doctor said that she was indeed close to finding the cure so they had hope. Giving a passing kiss once more before Miri departed, Tirol watched her leave before heading for his first destination figuring to leave the grocery shopping for last.
All around him vendors were already opening up with many offering a 'good morning' or 'Hiya' as he passed making things a lot more comfortable for him as he passed by finding the area much more relaxing and enjoyable as he passed by. Having been with the pack for nearly a year already, the once uncomfortable surroundings around him were replaced by a sense of homely and a more natural feeling as if he had grown up here.
The others that had considered him a mongrel pup and shouldn't be there among them had started accepted him although it was rather slow of a process. Nowadays they welcomed him as one of their own however that didn't mean that there were people that still didn't like him being there. Like before there was Jason, the male child in Tirol's eyes continued to make threats against him with the usual stuff about becoming the next alpha. However like before the threats had no grounds to him as Tirol always shrugged it off.
Nevertheless that position had fallen upon Miri being the next in line for the pack's female alpha position which included her mate...Tirol. When she had finally broken the news to him he found himself in a state of shock as this was one thing that Tirol never expected in his lifetime.
"Tirol!" a new yet shrill voice called out causing him to cringe at it forcing his step to quicken heading toward the first stop. The welcomes and unwanted people had their numbers within the pack however there was another type of female that made his skin crawl. Since their wedding and mating had been announced to the entire pack, the females that allowed their roaming eyes to follow him his first few months that he was there stopped happening allowing him to feel more comfortable. That was until he met Jasmine, the thorn in his side...
Originally one of the females that came from a different pack to receive the proper training with the new rifle and a new type of hand to hand combat that Miri had developed for special threats which he still couldn't figure out what kind of special threats that it was used for. Well that changed when Jasmine took weapons training with the rifle that she became annoying.
Like most of the females that were visiting, new blood for the pack were sometimes welcomed if not always, Tirol got the occasional tease or flirt which he went about kindly informing her that he was taken by another female being kind in the way he told her. Jasmine seemed to take the hint at first until it was let slip, by who knows who, that he had the future of becoming the pack's Alpha when the time came that things came interesting.
She started flirting with him with earnest and not always at the range, she learned that the easy way was not to do such when Miri was in the same area as Miri would always bare her teeth and immediately Jasmine would back off. It came to a point that he nearly reported her to the council for breaking of rules however she wasn't stupid enough to push it to the point that she would be banned completely from the pack and possibly face charges when she went home.
This entirely confused him until Miri revealed a different little item that didn't make the position that he was currently in any easier. Like a normal wolf pack, anyone can challenge either male or female Alpha for their position, although that just added to the confusion as Tirol wasn't even there yet. When he first heard of this, Tirol thought that Jasmine would attack either him or Miri but again it wouldn't allow her to gain anything.
However that didn't mean that she had a plan in mind for something in the future when and if the time came, as werewolves did have longer lives than normal human beings, which was a bit more troublesome in the long run. At some point, he came to think and somewhat realize that if she was going to try and seduce him then down the road try and kill Miri for her position then have power over the pack would be hers.
The one thing that she probably never realized was that Tirol no matter how much Jasmine tried, would always be loyal to Miri no matter what. When the visitors that she was with left, Tirol thought the troubles would be over with and he started to wonder when he would ever be right again.
A few weeks later a diplomatic group from the same pack that Jasmine came from arrived to setup negotiations with the pack not quite sure what it originally was about. Among the group as they passed through the villages main street heading straight up toward the Alpha's main house on top of the hill, stood Jasmine clad in body armor and outfitted with a P90 machine gun in a standby position.
Tirol let out a groan as he saw her give him a wink which told him that she was still shooting for him no matter what he tried. Of course Miri noticed the discomfort that he was feeling as they continued on towards the range away from the diplomatic. "You could always bring up what she is doing to the Alpha if her being here is going to because you distress."
"Maybe but if she is going to be busy on guard duty unless she breaks into our house we shouldn't encounter her at all." He answered letting out a sigh of relief. "Did your father say what they are here to negotiate for?"
"Somewhat, I guess that they want to see about exchanging pack members for a while something about bringing in new blood into the packs." She answered
"Oh that should be interesting." He answered.
"What? Aren't you concerned that you may be asked to go?"
"Personally I don't think that the council would be wise with that decision since that serum that we were drugged with could cause so much damage to a packs line." He answered shaking his head.
"Oh? And what about me? Are you worried about what our children may be like with that drug running through our systems?" she asked half concern half teasing.
"I know that we are strong enough to make sure that our children will have the proper support." He answered offering a grin. "Anyways, if the council did ask me, I would kindly say no and that I have my mate that I would want to spend my life with."
Disappearing into the guard building located the nearest to him that he could easily disappear without any kind of problems, Tirol waited for a few minutes before allowing a sigh of relief to escape from his lips. Since that day, Jasmine had continued to find ways of going up to the range to pester both of them; lucky enough her attention wasn't always on him however Tirol could still sense her intentions were the same.
"Morning, Tirol." Angie called from the front desk located in the main room as he stepped toward her. "Jasmine still hounding you?"
"Is nothing a secret around here?" he asked offering a grin. Angie was Miri's best friend so it's not like she wouldn't know the couple's problems, plus she was always once to tease him whenever she found the opportunity although the teasing wasn't a flirt just friendly batter. "Is Mcich in? I am supposed to meet up with him about guard duty for tonight."
"He just came in a few minutes before you did." She said waving him toward the door which leads into the back. "Come on, I will take you back there."
Smiling as he was glad to get away from the front door being in plain sight if Jasmine looked in, Angie lead him into a series of offices that ran about ¼ of the hall before stopping at a series of double doors at the end with the lettering 'LOCKER ROOM' stenciled in on the glass of the door. Stopping at one of the offices and giving it a light rap on the door and a response came a second later as she pushed the door opened. "Tirol's here, boss."
"Show him in, thanks Angie." Mcich said as Tirol stepped in before the door was closed behind him. "Morning, Tirol. I thought you would be sleeping in enjoying the morning away from daily life before you showed up."
"I cooked breakfast for Miri this morning plus I had a few things that I wanted to take care of before coming in." he said taking a seat in front of him. "How's your mate and kids doing by the way?"
"Doing great so far, trying to keep the rascals out of trouble isn't always easy as being in control of the guards. Do you still have that crazy chick trailing after you with the crazy look in her eyes?"
"That's the main reason why I am here first; I am trying to avoid her all together. I thought that she would be busy with protecting the diplomats to be bothering me. I am glad that I can get away from the range although I have a feeling she is going to be stalking me at night." Tirol commented.
"You could always complain to the council and get her banned from the grounds if it is making you feel uncomfortable."
"True, maybe I should do that after I leave here." He answered. "It would be easier on both Miri and I."
"Speaking of which, when are you two planning on having pups of your own?" Mcich asked finishing up the paperwork on his desk.
"Already trying, we had sex every free minute that we could spare, even more during her heat cycle." Tirol answered with a smile. Although it would be a new thing for him, Tirol was looking forward to being a father never once thinking things would be easy especially with a new environment.
"So you two may already be expecting, eh?"
Tirol could only offer a shrug as it was always the female that knew before the male did. "Unless she is keeping it a secret until the appropriate time."
"True, my mate didn't tell me about our first child until the right moment." Mcich answered with a slight chuckle. "Anyways, let's go get you checked out on gear and a locker and I will take you through your route for tonight."
