The Godfather
A story i wrote a while back. Probably one of my favorites.
The Godfather
Special Thanks to Rainstar and EdgeHusky.
The bag was quickly pulled off of Cary's head, and he looked up. He found himself in a dark alley, damp from the rain. Puddles scattered the cobblestone alley. He was being by the arms by two large bloodhounds in pinstripe suits. Circulation in his arms had slowed almost to a stop because of the paws' strong grip on his limbs. A large muzzle kept his snout shut, not that he would have said anything anyway. Sounds of footsteps began resonating down the alley. Cary looked up as the approaching figure said, "Take the muzzle off". The bloodhounds obeyed and violently removed the restraint from Cary's face. "Now, isn't that better?" said the figure with a chuckle. With a glance, Cary recognized the figure and a short growl escaped from his snout. Just as soon as he did this, a hard metal baton delivered a blow to his back, causing him to yelp loudly. "Now, now, we don't need any of that," said the figure in a loud voice, his words bouncing down the empty alley.
"What can I do for you today, sir?" said the cheetah sitting in the office in the back of the speakeasy. It was adorned with wood, silver and random fur tapestries on the walls, which distracted Cary. "Uhh, who are you?" asked Cary hesitantly. Sitting up, the cheetah responded, "I'm Rainstar, the mob boss. You said you needed a favor." "Well I need someone to be taken out for me," With a smile, Rainstar responded, "That's not going to be cheap, but we can do it," Cary needed a co-worker taken out. Somehow, he had gotten some blackmail on Cary. A couple of months ago, he was short on cash, and had to do some work for illegitimate clients. It had gone well, except for some information that Cary accidentally failed to destroy. "Who is the target?" Rainstar asked, ready to scratch down the name with a gold fountain pen. Cary swallowed "Edge,"
He knew he was going to have remorse over this, but it was the only way he could keep his job, and he couldn't trust Edge to keep his Husky snout shut. "Alright, it will be about two-hundred, which we will collect after the deal is done. Quality assurance," the cheetah grinned and stood to shake paws with the wolf sitting across from him. Price was not negotiable with the mob, but Cary knew he couldn't afford it. The wolf reached his paw across the desk and shook paws with the cheetah.
"Rainstar" growled Cary as his heart sank, in recognition of the figure. The tall cheetah wore a white pinstripe suit and held a confident stature as his tail flicked slowly from left to right. "Don't you dare address me, mutt. You know why you are here. You don't fuck with the mob and not expect some sort of response from us," said the spotted menace with a grin. The cat motioned toward the two bloodhounds and released Cary. Blood began flowing through his limbs once again and the feeling in his paws returned. His body was throbbing in tempo with his heartbeat, which was going a mile a minute. No one leaves this type of confrontation without a scratch, and Cary knew he wasn't going to be an exception.
"You ask us to snap someone off, then don't pay up? Where do you think you are, pup? We run this town. New York City may have a mayor or a city council, but the mobs are really in control. Did you really think we weren't going to find you?" Rainstar said in a monologue. "Huh!? Did ya?!" with that shout, the cheetah sent his balled up paw straight into Cary's stomach. It felt as if he were hit with brass knuckles. The punch sent Cary to the ground in pain. "Stand the fucker up, I wanna see his tail" Rainstar sang out. Cary's emerald eyes shot wide open. The mob was notorious for taking wolf tails clean off. His entire body weight was pulled up by the two bloodhounds strong grasps on his arms. Cary let his body hang. Sneering, the cheetah examined Cary's beautiful red tail, which was far between his legs. "Look at that boys, that would look so great as a new bath mat!" Rainstar shouted and the two bloodhounds chucked to one another. If it weren't for this response, Cary wouldn't have realized bloodhounds were holding him.
Suddenly, the Cheetah appeared in Cary's face. "Does it hurt, pup? Huh? You want it to end?" Rainstar asked mockingly "Answer me you little shit," "No, I love this," said Cary with a grin as he looked up to face the cheetah. Before he could respond, a punch was given right into his muzzle, and blood began oozing from his mouth. A second blow was delivered into his gut, which made Cary topple over onto the ground. The world was spinning around him and the blood pouring from his muzzle mixed with the puddle of water on the ground. Pain coursed through his nerves, making it impossible to move anything. Once again, his body was lifted, but not by his arms this time, but by the scruff of his neck. His body just dangled freely from his neck. He was hoisted to the level of Rainstar's face, who was holding him up.
"You learned anything, pup?" asked the mob boss. Cary let a deep growl escape his snout, and showed his bloody teeth as blood dripped off of his muzzle. "If I teach you one thing, it will be manners!" he shouted, and let Cary fall to the ground, face down. "You wolves are all the same. You think that you can steal from us and then just run? Then you show blatant rudeness to us!" Rainstar kicked Cary in the side several times. "Get up! Stand up and face me!" Slowly, Cary stood and faced the assailant. "Good boy! Who is a good puppy?" taunts shot from the cheetah. Cary responded with a slow, unsuccessful swing at his muzzle. Successfully dodging the hit, Rainstar rebounded and sent all his strength into a blow into the side of Cary's snout.
Cary fell to the ground, defeated. "You know, I should have killed you instead. Edge seemed like a more respectable Husky than you. What a waste. But I'm not going to kill you. I'm going to bring you so close to death that you wish you were in Edge's place," Several direct kicks were sent into Cary's side. The puddle Cary was laying in now consisted of more of his blood than of water. Tears began to mix with the blood as well. Whimpers began flowing from Cary. "Awww, does the puppy want to go home? Poor thing." Rainstar kneeled down to taunt Cary. The bloodhounds chuckled again. "You see this?" the cheetah pulled out a switchblade, and clicked it open. "This will remind you to never cross the mob again," The whimpers grew in volume from Cary. He tried to get up to run, but his body was not responding.
He felt paws being placed on various parts of his body. Suddenly a sharp pain exploded in his tail. Yelps screeched from Cary's snout. Seconds turned into years as the pain continued and grew exponentially in intensity. He wished he were dead. Wishes of simply hearing a gunshot appeared in his mind. Then there was remorse, then nothing as the injured wolf passed out.
