CHAPTER 7

"Since we have you all set for gear and all, lets get you a locker to store it before I take you to your route." Mcich said leading Tirol away from the gear storage cage located in a series of hall-ways in the back of the office. After leaving the office, Mcich had gone about showing Tirol through a different door which revealed more door-ways that crisscrossed all around the building coming to a single caged doorway with a tall elegant female sitting behind the cage.

"Morning Trish." Mcich called drawing the female's attention looking up from the books. "How's the family?"

"Getting in trouble as usual, boss. I swear that they can be a handful at times, I am glad that they are finally in school." She said putting the pen down before turning her attention to them.

"So what can I do for you this morning?"

"Need to get the gear for Tirol for patrol tonight." Mcich said patting Tirol on the shoulder. Since they had been working together for a year since he came to be with the pack the pair had gone about being friends since most of the friends that Tirol knew were back at his old home town.

"No problem with that, come on back to the supply room. Take a seat, boss it will only take a few minutes." Trish said motioning for Tirol to follow her into the caged area where Trist and another female went about taking measurements calling out numbers for area of his body in the end he ended up with a ton of supplies ranging from hands free radio with a ear piece to hook into his ear, a bullet proof vest, camo gear (although he doubted it was really needed) with a 9mm pistol plus holster. Since he was already situated with one of the new rifles issued to all of the guards for the village, he was set for weapons.

After getting the gear stowed into one of the empty lockers locking them away for his duty that night, Mcich directed him toward a rear exit of the building where uniformed guards and wolf guards were leaving the building sometimes in pairs or on their own. Stepping off to the side, Mcich began undressing in the process which caused Tirol to raise a eyebrow in surprise.

"There are two different guards as you can see out there, it allows us to keep two types of security around the village and options. Plus unless you want Jasmine to know where you are patroling, this would be the easiest way to do this." Mcich explained before taking on his own wolf form which had a dark brown fur. Tirol quickly followed suit in his own form after getting his own clothing thrown into his back pack before the change. Planning on meeting up with Miri after the patrol briefing when her class ended just for the heck of it, he didn't want to walk around naked although it may please some females plus that most would walk around like that if needd.

Following the next group of wolf forms out of the building, the pair shot toward the forest only separating from the main pack when needed heading down a separate path that lead up along the outskirts of the grounds. By his memory, he came to realize that the patrol route that he was assigned to tracked up behind the gunnery range and at first he thought it was because someone was trying to get him killed until he noticed it curve away before it even came close to the range leading up to a hill overlooking both the village and valley below.

In some sense the patrol route covered about ¾ of a mile giving the guards a good amount of ground to cover in their time and as Mcich explained it that the guards are exhausted by the time that they usually finish their shifts even after a total of eight hours but given time new guards usually get use to the route and routine enough that it wouldn't be too tiresome.

The entire trip along the trail usually went quiet allowing for Tirol to get a idea of the border line and trail with Mcich occasionally explaining something or with him asking a question once in a while before the pair turned back toward the guard building once more. However Tirol held back at the outer edge of the safe zone for the firing range bidding his friend a good day being reminded to show up for his shift at 10 pm.

Offering a nod before continuing up the path to the range staying hidden in the bush just about reaching the top where he found class was in full swing although by the looks of it the class was about to be letting out. Giving it a second before starting to consider changing back, Tirol stopped when he saw Jasmine standing near the path with a irritated look on her face glaring at Miri as she dismissed the class for the day. Letting out a breath of exhaustin wiping away the sweat with a towel nearby, she didn't turn around before she spoke. "Tirol's not here, Jasmine...so bug someone else." she muttered her eyes scanning the bushes where Tirol lay hidden offering a knowing smile before turning to Jasmine in which her expression turned sour trying to hide the knowledge in which she knew that Tirol was nearby.

"Whatever, bitch, the council wants to see both of you in the chambers." the bitch said looking around before continuing with a sneer appearing on her face. "You won't be able to have him much longer."

"Is that a threat, you slut?!" Miri growled whirling around with a evil glare on her face. Tirol could feel the tension coming off of his mate that he nearly jumped up himself cause he didn't like the sounds of it himself the way Jasmine was acting.

"A fact...like you and everyone in a pack, Tirol is subject to pack law and rule. You can't keep him to yourself forever! And I have found a way to make him mine!" Jasmine hissed like a snake she was.

"Don't test me, you are pushing the limits of the visitation rules. Watch yourself!" Miri warned as Jasmine just threw her a evil smile before continuing down the path back toward the village.

"You know I wonder if she truly knows that you are the next in line for Alpha not me." Tirol commented pulling on his vest having changed into his normal form after Jasmine turned away stepping out of the tree line. Breathing hard her heart beat thundering in her chest although it started to return to normal she let out a exhausted sigh before turning back to him.

"With that bitch, who truly knows. If she isn't careful I will rip her head off. No one tries for my mate without a fight."

"And I would never cheat on you, my love." Tirol said giving her a tender kiss. "Don't forget that."

"Thanks, love." she said returning the kiss. "So were you able to get the errands done already? Is that why you are hiding out in the bushes spying on me?" Tirol let out a laugh before shaking his head.

"No, I was heading to the village when Jasmine called out for me so I ducked into the guard building and got shown around by Mcich when I decided to stop by before I got back into town. I guess it going to be a long day if the council wants to see both of us." he answered shuddering. "Maybe they have a request for both of us to take a vacation."

"I don't think our luck is that good." Miri said shaking her head. "I guess we should go and see what they want."

"Ahhhh do we have to?" he asked offering a teasing pout. "Maybe I should go back to wolf form just incase we run into that bitch again."

"Won't matter as if she saw us together she could probably guess who the wolf is or she would start spreading rumors around that I am cheating on you." she answered shaking her head again, her long flowing hair seemed to dance in the air. Tirol had to agree with that assumption knowing how things would just get more terrible for them if that was to happen. However something was just driving him insane when he looked back on a few things.

"Miri, I am sorry to ask this but it has been making the wolf feel uncomfortable." he told her stopping her for a moment with a surprise yet confused expression playing across her face. "Jasmine said that she found a way to make me hers...is there something that I am missing?"

Miri took that all in looking a bit confused until her eyes looked away letting out a laugh in cofidence. "There is a way but its really unheard of and I doubt that you would hear about it unless you look closely. You see in the past, packs have had trouble with a male taking on two females for mates and those females fighting among themselves on gaining superiority and being their mates' first and favorite. And there has always been bloodshed in which entire new pups have been lost and a good number of werewolf packs have been lost because the numbers have dwindled to nothing because of the problem.

"So the councils have gotten together and set down several rules which follow:

1. A male can only have one mate to reduce the problems of fighting between both females in the family group.
2. A female can still fight for a male and rank in the same way following rules set upon the pack in the past.
3. A female can go about claiming that her mating between her mate and her cancelled if she believes that the male has been untrue to her or if she finds out that the other female in question is with pup.

And those are the rules."

"Why do I have a feeling that number 3 is where Jasmine is aiming for?" Tirol asked raising a eyebrow.

"Maybe, however if the female that is claiming such finds out that the mate of the male is also pregnant then the claim becomes null invoide. If the female still wants to make a claim out of the male, the rule states that the first female to give birth and that blood tests show that the pups are the males then the mating is nullified. However if the female that is the males mate already pregnant and gives birth before the other then the male can choice to either support her and the pups or..."

"Or he can have nothing to do with them..." Tirol said feeling his stomach tossing around. The one thing was that if he ever found himself or another close to him in that situation it would be a hard decision even for him to do but he was taught better that he would try to do the right thing. Miri could see the discomfort playing across her mates face causing her to shake her head almost.

"You have stepped into a whole new world here, love. It is tough to leave behind those that you love and the laws that you grew up with then thrust into something completely different." She said wrapping her arms around him giving him a hug before changing the subject. "I have a feeling that this probably has something to do with why the diplomatic group is here."

He nodded his head in agreement as they continued into the village without another sign or trouble from Jasmine which allowed him time to let out a sigh of relief. "Knowing how much of a smug look she had on her face, I will have to agree with that thought. Although I had thought that with us being mated we wouldn't encounter this problem." Since coming into the pack and settling down almost into the new life with it being almost normal for him except for the certain new rules that he had to follow, things had gone from easy to a lot harder in little less than a year.

"Makes both of us targets, and since I am the next for the position of Alpha in the pack the other position to my mate. That's why my parents and I have been encouraging you in areas that are essential for leadership...the pack will look to us one day to make the proper decisions that would keep us alive and not risk the pack. This way also once my parents step down from the council, we will be ready to take over."

"What did I step into when I became your mate and bodyguard?" he asked with a tease and grin his mood having changed to a brighter one. Miri returned the smile giving him a kiss as they stepped into the council building immediately being ushered into the council chambers without a question or word being asked or said why they were here.

Inside they found the chambers bare like normal with the occasional guests talking with the council at a rather large table set up in the middle of the room with many of the chairs having been removed for it to be better situated in the room. Sitting around the table, the diplomats from the couple's earlier discussion were in deep discussion about something as they stepped up. Among their numbers were Jasmine and Jason who looked as smugged and rotten like their normal appearance.

"Ah, thank you for coming you two. Tirol, seems like you are the hardest person to find this morning. Lucky Jasmine talked with Miri just a few minutes ago." Turek called standing up from the table with a smile.

"Yes, well when you are being stalked by the messenger day in and day out its difficult to get things done these days." Tirol commented loud enough that everyone in the room heard. The diplomats cast a disapproving look along with the gather council toward Jasmine who looked or tried to look shock and innocent at the accusations that were just made against her. Clearing his throat once more before turning back to the task at hand, Turek's look brighten up.

"I am guessing that you are both wondering why you two have been asked here?" the pair offered a nod. "For the past several months, negotations have been going on about exchanging blood to strengthen relationships and bloodlines between the packs. We are currently looking for volunteers to go and it seems Ms. Jasmine has her eyes on you Tirol for a possible volunteer."

"Uuuuh, sir...you can probably understand my uneasiness about being asked to however volunteering to go to a different pack just for exchanging blood is that something that I do not feel comfortable with. Having been mated to a very wonderful lady that has been a wonderful mate to me since we met..." Tirol answered politely choosing his words carefully. At the corner of his eye, he could see a ugly look that both Jason and Jasmine were giving, with Jason acting like he was gagging and Jasmine rolling her eyes about his comments. "Also I do not this with the current situation to be the proper time for me to leave, sir and you know what situations I am talking about."

Turek nodded his head in agreement knowing what his son in law was talking about. "It has been discussed with the diplomats and they understand the current situation nevertheless, they wished to ask you to consider it for a few days."

"Eh, I will take it underadvicement, however I truly doubt that I will agree with the idea, sir." Tirol answered truthfully. "I know I am part of this pack and under the laws..."

"Its understandable about your uncomfortable with the idea, Tirol. The diplomats again are aware of the situation. That is also why we asked Miri to be present to offer her own thoughts about the idea and/or support."

"I would have to agree with Tirol about his uneasiness of the request, father. I am also flattered by his comment however we will discuss this for a few days and talk with you if he changes his mind." Miri said which caused Tirol to look at her in surprise.

"Very good, thank you for listening, Tirol. I will tell you right now that Jasmine will not hound you or stalk you any further trying to convince you." Turek said after conferring the chief diplomat.

This allowed Tirol to let out a sigh of relief knowing that now he could go about his day without being harassed. Taking a closer look, he noticed that the smirk on Jasmine's face was gone and by the looks of it she was about to protest the actions against her however a sharp look at her shut her up rather quickly.

"You can go back to what you were doing, you two." Turek said offering a wider grin to them and without further word the pair departed in a far better mood than that morning. Once the doors closed, Tirol let out one final sigh of relief.

"That will clear up the day of being stalked."

"Yes, although you could've just ignored her as you worked."

"And let her ruin our plans yeah right. Anyways that does free up lunch, what did you want me to bring you for lunch this afternoon?"

"Surprise me, you seem to always come with interesting items." she said giving him a wink. "In exchange, how about I bring breakfast and meet you on the end of patrol in the morning?"

"Oh even more enticing and the day after tomorrow is our anniversary." he said grinning which caused Miri to laugh in returning the grin.

"Its nice to see someone that knows when they were mated/married." she told him looking up at the wall clock for a few minutes. "I got to get back to class, see you later then?"

"Always unless something keeps me. May I can get something else going for your gift."

"Arrrgh, you tease! See you later love." With a parting kiss the pair departed their separate ways heading for their own jobs.

However from a balcony over looking the grounds below, two figures watched the pair as they separate heading for different parts of the village. One figure with eyes of jealousy and despire while the others eyes were filled with lust and greed their thoughts both set on a deed that would set off a series of events that nothing would be the same ever again.

"You get everything that you would need?" one figured asked not taking its eyes off Tirol.

"Aye, right before I had to come in. I have everything set for tonight just got to wait until he is alone then I will have him." the other answered with cofidence.

"Good, just be ready for the series of events to come with what you are about to set off."
