WOLF - pt.17
#17 of WOLF
Part 17....comment, fave, rate and such. Much love~
Two o'clock came around and I found myself stood in the middle of the institution's gymnasium. I'd have preferred to be back in my dorm room reading Wonderland, but Lian and Miles had assured me this section of Haven's education system was a must.
The gymnasium was an enormous football-field sized space, with enormous stands that lined the walls on either side. There were no patterns on the floors outlining the kind of sports that were played in this hall. No sports were required. All the space was used for was these so-called transformation classes.
I was amongst friends, or at least that's what Lian and Miles had promised me. Everyone in that very small line in the middle of the gymnasium was an ititiate like me.
I was surprised to see Isaiah standing beside me when we filed in.
It had helped knowing someone else there who was going through the same ordeal as me, but an awkwardness had stretched between the two of us. More me, than him. He smiled and tried to make small talk, but I recoiled and seemed a little nervous around him.
I gave in and eventually feigned ignorance to the knot in the pit of my stomach.
Per rule of the gymnasium and this session, the six of us who were taking part had changed from our school uniforms into the pre-ordained attire required for the next hour or so. Loose bottoms bound at the waistband and ankles, vests and hooded shirts over the top. Running shoes fastened tight, and all of it done in jet-black with our individual logos and emblems emblazoned upon them.
I could glimpse the kind of animals we all were; one wolf, one crocodile, two tigers, one rat and one ram.
Lian and Miles were sat in the stands to my right. They had promised to sit in on my first session with Romeo and Juliet. I spotted a few others too that I didn't know, but felt like I recognised. Were the two sat at the top of the stands to my left part of Broderic's group? It was possible.
The tutors, Romeo and Juliet were in deep conversation with a man I had never seen before. He was tall, slender and dressed in a tailored black suit. A snake encircled the blade on his emblem, but he reeked of human.
Linus' representative perhaps?
I leaned into Isaiah and whispered, "I didn't know you were an initiate too?"
Isaiah leaned down so he could whisper back without being overhead all that much. A room full of heightened senses. It seemed pointless, but part of me welcomed the closeness of the croc. He murmured, "I was halfway through my initiation when Linus asked me for that favour. As a part of my punishment for refusing him, I have to repeat initiation. Transformation sessions included."
"Sorry to hear that," I breathed back.
He smiled back. "No need for apologies. But I am grateful...for your care, I mean."
I could feel a blush coming.
Luckily our tutors were finished talking to Linus' man.
Romeo stood at around six-foot-one. He was narrow-waisted and broad-shouldered like a swimmer. His skin was the deepest shade of chocolate I'd ever seen. His eyes were a startling yellow, with feline pupils. His hair was shaved close. An elaborate tribal design cut into the hair and dyed white-blonde. A thick silver loop threaded through his right ear lobe.
Juliet was his polar opposite. She was small at five-seven, and slender through and through. She was curved at the hips, while the small mounds of her breasts rose and fell as she stalked forward. Her skin was milky white, her hair a deep blood red, done in cornrows over her scalp and then allowed to spill free behind her in an untouched mass of back-combed waves. Her eyes were the same as her partner's, kitty-cat yellow.
The two wore the same dark-grey leather suit. It looked like a skin tight jumpsuit, showing every inch of their bodies, covered or not. Romeo had unzipped his down to the groin. His chest was sculpted, his stomach flat, the leather black underwear he wore on show. His sleeves were rolled back over muscular forearms.
Juliet's suit was unzipped down to her naval. Her breasts hugged the leather, not threatening to spill out at all. The two wore black, fingerless gloves and boots, both done in leather again. Juliet's boots had a slight heel to them which made her roughly the same height as me.
She touched her hands to her hips and grinned at us all like we were the mice she was hunting. "Right then, newbies. Question; who knows whats so special about the attire you are all wearing?"
No one replied. No one raised their hand. Isaiah had done this before. Why didn't he raise his hand?
I ignored it.
"Fine then. The suits your in are designed to expand and stretch with your full moon form. The running shoes are void in that equation, but everything else is designed to spare your modesties when your feral side takes hold." She glanced at Isaiah and then asked, "Who here has transformed before without the aid of the moon or SD?"
No one answered a second time.
"Has anyone here transformed partially? Hands into claws? Tail? Ears? Eyes?" Romeo called from behind Juliet.
I had. I raised my hand slowly. Isaiah looked sideways at me. Was he concerned? This may have been arranged under Linus instruction, but if Romeo and Juliet here could help me control my inner beast, maybe I could learn some control when under SD's influence too?
"Step forward," Juliet commanded.
I did as she asked and took four strides forward until I was stood in front of her. I heard a distant, exciteable whoop from Miles' direction and smiled.
"Name?"
"Jack Whyatt."
"The new wolf, right?" she asked.
I nodded.
She smiled and asked, "What can you partially transform then, Jack?"
I raised my forearms. "Hands, sometimes the forearms too."
"Ahh, claws, I assume?" she asked.
I nodded.
She grinned, "A fighter?"
"A survivor," I replied.
She smiled wider and nodded as if impressed. Then her smile vanished, "Show me."
I blinked back. "W-What?" I stammered.
"Show me. Transform your hands into claws. Don't tell me it was all talk?" she demanded.
"N-No...its just that...I've only ever been angry when I've partially transformed," I explained.
"Ohh, my bad," her features softened as she smiled sweetly, "Step back in line, please, Jack."
I nodded nervously and turned to return to my space in line beside Isaiah. I looked at the werecroc and found he had taken a step forward, hand outstretched, eyes burning with concern now.
A second later I was soaring, airborne with a splintering ache in my back. A moment later I smashed into the double doors of the gymnasium's equipment room and disappeared inside amongst the weight training kits and fall-mats that the usual wereanimals used to work out and spar together.
Romeo stepped up beside Juliet and murmured, "You may have gone too overboard, Jules."
Juliet touched her hand to her forehead, pretending to block out the sun as she whistled. "And here I thought wolves had better reaction times than that. Guess I was wrong?"
A second later the equipment room doors splintered and popped from their hinges. A great, long barbell span from inside and skittered toward the tutors. Romeo and the other initiates dived aside. Juliet sidestepped the barbell with weights and all, and looked to the broken doors.
I gripped the edge of the door frame. My hands had shifted into claws, long and black, white fur blossomed over the skin of my forearms and disappeared into the rolled up sleeves of the hooded shirt I'd worn. I was still slender and lithe, but my black hair had faded white and my eyes narrowed, maddened with rage.
_ I wanted to slaughter the pussycat that had hurt me!_
