Chapter 3 - Feelings
#3 of Opposites Attract
"What the fuck did you do to her?!" Jason let out a low growl.
The vixen giggled and then looked at him, almost taken back by his face, "Goodness calm down. I didn't do anything to her. I just had a little chat with her that's all."
He couldn't control himself, he grabbed her shoulders and turned her body to face him directly, "You LYING whore! What did you do to her?!"
The vixen grinned giving him a sinister look, "Oh Jason I thought no one knew I liked it rough. I might like sex but I can assure you, I'm not a whore. I've been dreaming you'd grab me like this." She winked at him as Jason was purely disgusted by her antics.
"You listen to me if I find out you did ANYTHING to her. I swear to god, I'll hurt you in ways you never thought possible." Jason normally never resorted to threats but he couldn't help it.
Kristina was a shady woman, not too many people in school had good things to say about her. She would become jealous by petty things, she would do whatever it took to get what she wanted. Jason was the exception. He was the one thing she could never get. Despite all of her attempts to try to get with Jason, she couldn't. Jason saw some of the things Kristina did to the guys on the football team. Last summer, she was going out with Frank but the relationahip was getting "boring" by her standards. It was when Kyle made the team and Kristina took a liking to him in an instant. So one night Kyle and Kristina had a romp around in the bed and Frank found out. It nearly resorted to fists but Frank found out Kristina flat out told Kyle she was single.
That was the kind of girl she was. Thus, Jason never believed a word that came out of her mouth.
The vixen only growled playfully and snickered. "Oh come on now, love. I know you couldn't find it in you to hurt a woman. Besides you'll thank me in the long run for it."
The bus stopped and the vixen stood up and placed her finger on the tip of his nose. She let out a seductive murr, "Thanks for letting my fantasies know what those strong paws feel like. It'll help a lot when I think of you tonight."
She walked away from Jason, her tail wagging behind her seductively behind her. She stepped off the bus and stood at the base of her driveway and waved to Jason as the bus pulled away. Jason looked away and placed his middle finger against the window for her to see. Everyone else on the bus was silent looking at Jason. "What the fuck are you all looking at?" He said turning his head and looked out the window until the bus reached his house.
He stepped off the bus, shoulders slouched down. He wanted to know what had happened. He wondered it must have happened after lunch after he stormed out. He wondered if he stayed in the lunchroom, he could have stopped whatever happened. He slowly walked up to his house and inside. Even his arrival at home wasn't welcoming. His mother was still in a bad mood from this morning. She seemed like she hadn't moved from the couch from this morning. He also noticed a quite a number of beer bottles on the coffee table in front of her. She only looked at Jason when he entered the house. He only passed by on his way to the stairs up to his room shutting the door behind him.
He tossed his book bag on his bed and sighed ploping himself on the bed as well. He stayed there for a while just staring up at the ceiling looking over the events of today. He shook his head, thinking about his plan to be nice to Kelly had horrifically backfired on him. He lost time as to how long he laid on the bed but suddenly his ears perked up hearing the front door opening. He moaned knowing it was his father and an impending arguement was about to ensue. His father never liked when Jason's mother drank. Saying it was a bad example and that she was beginning to drink more and more. He was worried that she was becomming an alcoholic, but she didn't want to hear any of it.
Suddenly, it happened. He could tell Jason's dad had made his way to the living room by the remark he made. Soon they were off to the races again, arguing. Jason had such a bad headache and hearing them bark er... meow at each other wasn't helping. He looked at the clock and saw it was only 4:30. He sat up in bed, who knew how long they would go at it for, but Jason wasn't in the mood to listen to it. He walked over to his dresser and grabbed his wallet. He quietly snuck downstairs, his parents made their way in to their kitchen. Jason swore, he was going to replace the kitchen table with a boxing ring one of these days. He snuck to the front door and made his escape.
He walked down the sidewalk, his head hung low and his paws in his pockets. He watched as some of the younger cubs were playing basketball in a driveway. He continued walking figuring that his parents were going to be occupied for a while so he decided to head towards his favorite diner. He continued walking, wondering about Kelly and what Kristina may had possibly done to her. Minutes went by as he was comming near to the diner. He looked up and stopped in his tracks. He could have swore he was seeing Kelly in the diner window.
He gasped as he ran up to front door of the diner. Blasting through the doors. Out of breath he quickly made his way to the booth the young skunkette was sitting at, "KELLY!" He stopped himself at the table trying to catch his breath, his paws on the table holding himself up. He looked at her with a concerned look, "Oh thank god I found you. Are you alright? Tell me what that bitch did to you..." He said his anger surging again as he thought about Kristina.
Kelly was hesitant. Her head staring down at her milkshake. Jason heard a sniffle come from Kelly. Slowly she brought her head up to look at Jason. Her eyes bloodshot and glossy with tears. Small trails of her cheek fur was matted from the tears. "J....just go away, Jason."
Jason did his best to calm himself down. He sat down in the seat across from Kelly as her head lowered again. "Kelly please.... Tell me what happened."
There was a long pause from her. Her finger tracing up and down the cold, foggy glass of her milkshake. "It doesn't matter what she did. If it wasn't her, I'm sure it would be someone else."
Jason shook his head trying to figure out what she was saying. "All I need to know is what Kristina did to you."
Kelly clinched her paw, "Is it that simple?" She looked up at Jason as she sniffled again. "Can you fix this? Can you honestly make anything normal again?!"
"I..... I don't understand?" Jason giving Kelly a confused look.
Kelly cursed to herself as she was finally starting to calm down before Jason showed up, only to make her hysterical again. "When I moved to this school no one gave two shits about me. No one talked to me, no one looked at me, no one BOTHERED me. As crazy as it sounds, I was happy with that. Then an orange, A GOD DAMNED ORANGE ruined it all. No big deal I thought. Nothing more than a funny rumor to flow around school and within a month it would be back to normal. Fine, what that Frank kid did was uncalled for but he's an asshole anyways. But YOU!!" She pointed at Jason with a claw extended, causing the cat to recline back into the booth. His ears retracted back. "You had to try and make things better. You had to bring all the attention you carry around with you and get me involved. Since then, my school life has been nothing but hell. It's YOUR fault people now look at me and gossip about me. It's YOUR fault people now want to mess with me. It YOUR fault that bitch Kristina felt the need to teach me a lesson by punching me in the stomach a couple times." Tears now streaming down her face again.
Jason was speechless, he never wanted such things to come about. He tried frantically to figure out a way to help but nothing seemed like it would help. "K...Kelly I...."
Kelly was on the verge of sobbing now. "You're a popular, good-looking athlete and I'm the god damned ugly book worm, but it was MY FAULT for thinking I could like you!"
Quickly getting up, the young skunkette ran out the door of the diner leaving Jason in the booth while others looked at him. "Son of a...." He quickly got up and reached for his wallet and grabbed a five dollar bill and threw it on the table and then ran off after Kelly. Bursting through the entrance door again he saw Kelly walking down the sidewalk. "KELLY WAIT!!" He yelled as he ran after her.
Kelly heard his footsteps as he ran towards her. "Jason please, just go away!"
Panting a little from his run, "Kelly just listen to me...." He reached and put his paw on Kelly's right shoulder. Kelly stopped and turned around quickly and with quick swipe her paw made contact with Jason's muzzle causing a loud "pop" sound. Jason put his paw on his cheek and watched as Kelly continued to storm off. Walking after the skunkette once again. "Kelly please, if it's my fault let me help..." Again Kelly stopped and a loud growl was heard as she turned around quickly her arm cocked back ready to slap the feline again. This time Jason wasn't going to let her slap him as he caught her arm but Kelly suddenly burried her head into his chest and began to sob again. Jason instinctively wrapped his arm around Kelly to try and comfort her. Kelly sniffled and coughed as she wrapped her arms around Jason and hugged him tightly.
Jason was a wreck with emotions. He didn't know what to do but he knew he had to fix it. The first thing he needed to fix was making sure Kristina got what was comming to her. Jason pulled Kelly away after a while as Kelly seemed to calm down again. Jason placed his thumb on her cheek and wiped the tear away and smiled at Kelly. "Look Kelly I'm sorry for all of this. I didn't mean for things to turn out like this. But I want you to know I will do anything within my power to make sure things are better for you again."
Kelly nodded stepping away from Jason, wiping her arms across her cheeks to finish clearing out the tears. "Why are you doing this? Why are you trying to help me so much?"
Jason stood there silent silent for a moment as he pondered the reason himself. "It's what friends do Kelly." Hoping it was a good enough answer for Kelly. Seeing her smile was enough for Jason. "Do you live over by here?" For some reason the thought popped into his mind.
Kelly shook her head, "No, the diner was close to school and I didn't want to go home right away...For obvious reasons. I'm probably a good three miles away from home."
Jason nodded, "Well I don't want to head home quite yet, and three miles is quite a walk. How about I walk you home? You know, to keep you company."
Kelly didn't respond rightaway. "I.....I would like that." Kelly said as she began to blush heavily.
The two began to walk as Jason followed Kelly. Walking through series of small neighborhoods and streets. The sun beginning its long desent towards the horizon. Jason had to admit it was a nice walk, the two remaining silent for a while before Kelly spoke up. "Jason... thank you for helping me... for just talking to me. It has made me feel much better to know someone at least cares about me and wants to help me" she said softly.
Jason looked at Kelly. He felt bad for her, he felt like at that moment he was her only friend. Somewhere in his mind he felt he wasn't too far off. He looked off in front of him, "Everyone needs a friend. The world's far to lonely to try to live it out by yourself." They continued walking as Jason thought about who else really knew Kelly, and among other things. Such as what does she do on her free time, who she hangs out with, does she even hang out with anyone. He couldn't imagine how lonely she felt from time to time. A part of him felt good giving her an outlet every once and a while.
Kelly smiled. "Thank you for being my friend, Jason" she said softly.
Jason only turned his head and smiled back at Kelly.
They walked silently for a while longer, passing a few blocks as they came close to where Kelly lived and soon they took a turn and walked down her street, approaching the small white 2 story house. "Well, here we are...I guess I'll be seing you tomorrow at school?" she said as she opened the door.
Jason nodded, "Yup. I'll see you in class tomorrow."
With that Kelly stepped into the doorway of her home. She stopped and for a moment looked at Jason and smile, "Good bye Jason. And thank you again....for everthing." The front door making a gentle click as it was shut.
Jason smiled as he suddenly felt warm inside. He turned and walked down the steps of porch. As soon as he was off her lawn Jason reached for his cell phone. "Now to take care of Kristina." The phone continued to beep as he scrolled his list of contacts before finding the one he needed. He pressed the "SEND" button. A few rings later and young tom grinned. "Hello Aunt Elaine.....I'm doing good how about you?......Listen I have a problem and I know your just the person I can talk to...." His grin grew, "By the way how things going with the cheerleading squad?....Good good, well I needed to talk to you about one of those girls..."
Kelly let out a sigh as a smile creeped along her face again.
"Kelly is that you?"
With a jump, Kelly turned her head to see her mother standing at the kitchen entry. "Where have you been?"
Kelly felt a little nervous not exactly sure if her mother was angry or not. "I...I decided to stop a diner after school with some friends."
The elder skunk turned her head to see Jason walking away from their house. His cell phone against his ear. Kelly's mother suddenly flashed a small grin, "Who's he?"
Kelly blushed a little looking down at the floor. Her paws clasped resting against her front. Quietly as if making sure only her mother heard, "He's..... he's just a boy I like."
