As feelings come out, so do other secrets. A family is torn apart as two find themselves growing closer together.

"You... love me?" The charcoal black fox asked me. Jacob was 17, with an average build and was 6' 3". On his muzzle were two white lines. On the top of his muzzle was one that extended from in between his eyes to his nose. The other white line was about two inches long along the right side. Starting from his left shoulder, a thick white line wrapped four times around his left arm, ending at his wrist. He had a particularly lazy style of clothes. You almost never saw him in anything but a t-shirt and blue jeans.

"Yes, I do. I have for a long time now, but I have never known how to express it." I said, looking at my feet. I am a dark blue fox, but very close to black. I am skinny, but with lean muscles, and only 5' 5". For being 16, I think that I am quite short. From shoulder to shoulder, there is a red stripe of fur on my back. It tapers on my right side, down my spine, all the way to the tip of my tail. I dress similarly to Jacob, usually in tight shirts and jeans. The most important part about me however, is that I am Jacob's only sister.

Jacob scratched the back of his head, and I could tell he was nervous. I didn't blame him. We had been close, a lot closer than siblings ever were. Not only was he my favorite brother, even though with Kyle being Kyle it wasn't a tough competition, but he was my best friend. Now, I threw a wrench in our relationship, admitting that I was in love with him. I anxiously waited to see what he would say.

"Y-you're not the only one." He said, and my heart skipped a beat, a few beats actually. He looked away, trying to avoid eye contact with me. I stood up from my bed I was sitting on and slowly walked over to him. Butterflies appeared in my stomach as I got closer. He looked at me when I was really close, almost touching him. I planned to do something that I had only dreamed about for so many nights. My nerves started to get the best of me as I stood there. Jacob opened his mouth to say something, but I never gave him the chance. I leaned forward, and planted my lips on his.

I felt him pull away slightly, but I pressed forward. After a few seconds, I could feel him lean into the kiss, and his arms wrapped around me. My arms rested on his chest as we stood there, lips locked onto each other's. Jacob was the one to break the kiss, much to my displeasure. Despite that, I felt overjoyed. I could not remember ever feeling that happy before, and my eyes began to tear up. After a second, I started crying.

"What's wrong?" Jacob asked worriedly, and I could tell he was afraid that he did something wrong.

"Nothing," I said, looking into his eyes "I am just so happy. So happy to be with you, Jacob." After saying this, Jacob leaned over and kissed me. The kiss lasted for only about a minute, but it felt like time had stopped for me. After we stopped, I looked at him, and he had the widest grin I had seen on him.

"W-will you do something for me?" I asked, the butterflies, who had gone away, return in my stomach.

"Anything for you." He said, giving me a quick kiss.

"Will y-you sleep with me tonight?" I asked, only to see a shocked and puzzled expression in his face. I realized what he thought I meant. "N-not like that. I meant in the same bed, not in the way as if we were mates. I'm not saying that wouldn't be nice, but..." I began to ramble, and he silenced me with a kiss.

"Of course I will. It will have to be after Kyle and the parents are asleep. Don't really want them to find out about us, at least not yet." Jacob said, and I nodded.

"How are we going to keep this a secret? Won't they notice that we are going to be hugging on each other and spending lots of time together?" I asked him worriedly. I knew that the parents would get mad and separate us, especially my dad. He was one of the 'hardcore Christians', being extremely devoted to god and does everything by the book. I didn't know how he would react to knowing about this. I hadn't even told him that I was an atheist just because I was afraid of what he would do.

Jacob just smiled and chuckled. "You're forgetting something. We are always like that anyway. They won't know the difference." I just nodded after he said that, and then held him tightly. I never wanted this feeling to go away, and just holding him made me realize how much I really cared for him. Just the thought that I could lose Jacob made me sad.

"Since no one is in the house, who is stopping us from lying together right now?" Jacob asked. Before I could say anything, he had laid me on my bed and got next to me. My back was against his chest as he held me, and I could feel his warmth, the rise and fall of each breath. Pretty soon, I felt the blanket of sleep cover me, and I closed my eyes.

I woke up to Jacob shaking me awake. "Come on, the parents are back." He said, gently pulling me off my bed. After a second, what had happened earlier came back to me, and I jumped at Jacob, almost knocking him over. I gave him a long kiss, and then had to break it when I was called downstairs. Reluctantly, I pulled away from him and went down to my mother, who was in the kitchen.

"You look like you just woke up. Sleep all day again?" She asked me in her soft voice. I looked at her. My mother was just about as ordinary as you could find. She didn't have any unusual markings on her fur, and her fur was light blue. I looked an awful lot like my mother, although I was actually taller than her. She was wearing a black dress than ended just below her knees.

"I just took a nap." I said then yawned.

My mom just shook her head and mumbled "Lazy teenagers."

"So what did you call me down for?" I asked, wanting to know why she pulled me away from Jacob.

"I need you to set the table. Dinner has been cooking all day and it's almost done." She said, not even looking at me. I proceeded to set out everything, the plates, silverware, and the cups. After a few minutes, everyone was at the table, except for my other brother Kyle. He was still paintballing with some of his friends, and you could tell that my father wasn't too happy about that.

"Where is Kyle?" He asked calmly, though you hear the anger in his voice. Both Jacob and I shrugged our shoulders. I looked at him, and he looked back at me. After a few seconds, we both realized that we were staring at each other, and looked away. Luckily no one else had noticed. I could tell at that moment that keeping our relationship a secret was going to be hard.

Kyle walked into the dining room after a few more minutes of waiting. "Now that Kyle is finally back, let us pray." My father said, and everyone grabbed the hands of the person that was next to him. Jacob was on my right, which I gladly took his hand, and Kyle was on my left. I didn't want to hold his hand, at all. He was sweaty and he smelled like a farm had rolled itself in its own waste.

"Jennifer, grab Kyle's hand." My father said, staring at me.

"I don't want to. He stinks and even his paws are sweaty." I explained, and it seemed to slightly irritate my father even more.

"Fine, if you don't want to hold his hand, then you don't have to. But you have to say the prayers for us." My father said, and I sighed. 'Don't understand why I have to. It's not like anyone even listens to prayers.' I thought to myself.

"What did you say?" My father asked, and you could tell that behind his calm voice was pure anger. My eyes opened wide as I realized that my secret had come out. My father stood up and started walking around the table to me. Jacob stood up in front of our father.

"She didn't mean that." Jacob said as he was trying to protect me. My eyes started to water as a fight broke out in between them.

"Get out of my way Jacob!" My father shouted. They had been arguing for about five minutes, and my father was at his breaking point.

"No!" Jacob shouted back at him. I saw my father ball up his fist and pull his arm back. I quickly got up and jumped in between them just in time. Just in time for me to be punched in the stomach. I can't really remember what happened after that. There was some more yelling and arguing, and Jacob took me upstairs.

Jacob made sure I was ok and stayed by my side for a good hour before our father came in. I could see Jacob tense up as the man who just hurt me walked in. "I never meant for any of this to happen." He said, and I took it for an apology. "I understand that you might have different views, and I respect that."

"Is that why you punched her?" Jacob cut in, and our father narrowed his eyes.

"That punch wasn't meant for her." He said, then turned back towards me. "Despite the fact that I respect your opinion, no person who doesn't believe in God will live under my roof. You have two hours to pack your things and leave." My father left right after he told me that. My jaw dropped, I was being kicked out of my own house just for being the way I am. I started crying again, and Jacob tried his best to cheer me up.

It took some time, but I stopped crying thanks to Jacob. He helped me get packed, and by the time we finished, I only had ten minutes to leave before the time was up. "Where am I going to go?" I asked Jacob as I leaned on him. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.

"Do you think any of your friends could take you in till we get all this settled?" He asked me, and I nodded. I took out my cell phone and called one of my best friends, Taylor. After a minute, she answered. I put her on speaker phone so Jacob could hear too.

"Who the hell is this?" She said sleepily.

"Well hello to you too." I said sarcastically, then noticed that it was 11:30.

"Oh, sorry Jenny. Why are you calling me so late?"

"Sorry, I need a place to stay. I am being kicked out."

"Why?"

"My dad found out about my secret."

"Which one? The one where you forced me to eat you out when you were over here?" She asked, and I about died. My face became hot with embarrassment, and I noticed Jacob's ears perk up to hear better. I quickly turned off speakerphone so only I could hear her.

"NO!! I meant the atheist one. Never mind, I'm coming over. See you in a bit." I said, then hung up on her. I looked at Jacob, who had a sly grin on his face.

"So when exactly did this happen?" He asked.
