This is the fastest I have ever brought out a second part to an ongoing story. I am rather impressed with myself. But I have just started a new job, and now have very little free time to write in, so expect updates to get a little more sporadic from now on. They won't stop completely, but just so you knooow. ANYWAY! This is a continuation of the story and I have no idea how long its gonna go on for, but I like the characters quite a lot, so I think I'm gonna stick with it. So don't worry! THIS ISN'T THE LAST ONE!

Copyrighted to meeeee!

Gaia reclined in her large mossy throne-bed, resting her head on one hand, while the other idly stroked William's massive head. The huge dragon was sleeping soundly next to her, a soft rumbling emanating from his chest every time he breathed out. Despite telling him to go and protect half of the world, he returned every night to sleep next to her. She had wondered if she had made him too obedient at first, but actually found she rather appreciated his company. In front of her was a laptop. William had brought it to her a few days ago, and she now browsed through the "world wide web". It was rather impressive actually, this thing that humanity had created. This vast network of information that would easily fill hundreds of thousands of libraries, was contained and accessed through... well, nothing. There was no physical manifestation of the web; only what people saw through these brightly lit screens. It also allowed Gaia to catch up on the last few thousand years of history she had missed in a matter of days. It also gave her an insight into what was happening to her planet. She was not pleased. Not pleased at all. She closed the laptop, and the blue glow surrounding it vanished. She carefully slid off the bed and glided into the cavern where Valeriya was being transformed. The pod pulsated quietly in the dimmed light of this cave. Gaia went over to it, lightly brushing her fingers over the lid. It rippled and slowly turned transparent. Gaia gazed down at her second creation. Valeriya's body was in the middle of changing from human into a powerful avian. Crimson and gold feathers had already begun to grow from her body, and her size had grown too. Gaia turned the lid opaque again and walked back into her bedchamber. William was now sprawled on his back, all four legs in the air and his tongue hanging out. Gaia couldn't help but smile. He was terribly silly when he wasn't being an unstoppable force of nature. Climbing back onto the bed, she leaned onto his chest, planting a kiss on his chin. He growled softly and rolled over, hugging Gaia to him in his sleep. Gaia sighed and settled against his large, smooth chest. He really was utterly dependent on her. Exactly what she wanted.

The next day William was stalking through the Canadian Taiga, his target was a large moose grazing in a small clearing. Despite his somewhat mystical origin, he was still a living creature, thus he required food and water. Given that moose were large and in plentiful supply in this forest, they had become his chosen prey. The moose was completely unaware of his presence, until several hundred kilos of hungry reptile landed on it's back and shattered its spine. A swift and powerful bite to the neck was all it took to finish the moose off. The large mammal was dead before it even realised it, and William happily set about devouring it, bones and all. His large claws easily tore into the moose and soon the small clearing was red with gore. It took about half an hour for him to consume the large cervine, and when he was done, only the head and part of the ribcage remained. William let out a huge yawn, before getting to his feet and wondering off into the forest. He was not aware, therefore, of the hidden camera on a nearby tree that was sending live footage back to a research team on the border of the forest. At the other end of the camera, a group of zoologists were watching the screen with stunned expressions.

"Dave?"

"Yeah?"

"Did we just see a dinosaur eat a moose?"

"I... think so?"

"Right... Just checking."

There was a pause. Then,

"Everyone, conference room. Now."

After a few minutes everyone on the research team was gathered in the conference room. There were eight people in total. It was a group paid for by the Canadian government to begin cataloguing the species that lived in the Boreal forest. As much of it was uninhabited, it was mostly unexplored, at least by official and scientific standards. The team consisted of three zoologists, two botanists, two entomologists and one paleontologist who had been hired when the team had found numerous fossils that needed to be identified. Doctor David Petersen, Head of Zoology at the University of British Columbia, led the team. He sat at the head of the small conference table in their home away from home (a collection of porta-cabins) on the border of the forest. Professor Phillip Hammond, the paleontologist was sat next to him thumbing through a large book.

"Okay then." David said slowly. Placing his hands on the table in front of him. "I assume everyone saw the video feed?" he asked. There were nods and some mumbled yeses.

"Well... I honestly don't know what to say." He continued. "I am utterly speechless to be honest."

"Well..." Phillip said, pausing at a page in his book "One possibility springs to mind."

"And that is?"

"Saurosuchus. One of the apex predators of the late Triassic." He said, holding up the book, showing a picture of an animal that resembled a large crocodile, walking on four fully erect legs. "The only problem is that A, the late Triassic was about two hundred million years ago and B, this... animal we saw looks more like a Sauropod, crossed with a Theropod..."

"What does that mean?" David asked

"Sauropods were four legged dinosaurs, mostly herbivores. Theropods were mostly carnivorous but were bipedal. This...animal seems to be a mix of the two."

"Do the horns tell you anything?" David asked, tapping a finger on the desk

"Not really. If this is indeed a living dinosaur, it's had at least sixty five million years to evolve." Phillip said with a shrug.

"But how did it survive?" said Doctor Agatha Charlston, one of the botanists.

"I have no idea Aggy." Phillip replied, "It is possible it survived in the same way crocodiles survived. Evolution can move at incredible speed when the need arises."

"So what do we do now Dave?" Said Karen, one of David's zoology students.

"Well, we have to assume that this animal has had next to no contact with humans. As such, it is safe to assume it's going to see us as just another food source."

"Not to mention it's an ambush predator." Chimed in Lydia, David's second student.

"Ah, we don't know that for certain." David replied, "A predator of this size will have a very large territory. It could encompass wetlands and the Taiga plains. If that's the case, this thing is probably capable of chasing down prey as well."

"Scary." Karen said with a shudder.

"Very." David replied

"So what do you recommend?" Said Doctor Morgan Farthing, the lead Entomologist on the team.

"Extreme caution. I know you four will be excited for this discovery as well..." David replied, gesturing to the two entomologists and the two botanists "...but as this is not your area of expertise, I feel it would be best to go about your duties as usual, but never go out alone, and always take one of the shotguns with you."

"Dibs on the shotty!" Wallace the Entomology student said enthusiastically.

"Typical American." Said John Wills, the second doctor of botany on the team.

"I'm the best shot here and you know it." Wallace retorted.

"Sure thing... wally."

"Enough you two!" Agatha said with exasperation.

The next week, after no further sightings, David, Karen, Lydia and Phillip were standing in an old logging site about a mile from their cabins. The site had been abandoned about thirty years ago when the company operating it had gone bankrupt. The remains of old dirt roads still remained, allowing relatively easy access to sites across the border of the forest. They had spent most of the morning laying down bait trails to try and lure the dinosaur into the large cleared area, where they had set up a weighing trap. It was a large cage, open at one end with a large weighing scale hidden underneath a pile of bracken. On top of the bracken was half a cow. Everything in the trap had been carefully weighed beforehand, so they could get an accurate reading of its weight. This wasn't the ideal solution, of course. Common practice was to just tranquilise the animal and then weigh it, but they had no idea how the dinosaur would react to tranquilisers. They would either have no effect, or kill it stone dead. Nevertheless, they were armed with shotgun and tranquiliser gun just in case. They had computers and cameras set up in their safari jeep and were safely locked inside it a good distance from the cage. All four of them now watched with binoculars from the jeep. David was standing on the front passenger seat looking out of the sunroof. He was armed with the tranquiliser gun. Phillip was sat in the back, the door open and shotgun on his lap. Fortunately the air was very cold and still, meaning smells didn't travel that far. They had carefully positioned the jeep downwind anyway, just to be on the safe side.

"Do you suppose that cage will hold up?" Karen whispered.

"I dunno." Lydia replied, "I don't think scaffolding was designed to hold dinosaurs."

"It's only there to keep it on the scales long enough for us to get a reading. Now shush!" David said. They had been in the jeep for an hour and a half, but he knew it could be many more before they saw something, if anything at all. He sniffed quietly, and cricked his neck. He briefly glanced over his shoulder before looking back at the cage. Then his brain registered what his eyes had just seen. His body went rigid. He could feel Karen tapping his leg.

"David!" she squeaked quietly.

"I know! Be quiet!" he hissed back. This caused Phillip and Lydia to turn around as well. Behind the jeep stood the dinosaur. It was snuffling through the snow, it's white scales made it nearly invisible, were it not outlined against the green trees behind it. It moved slowly passed the jeep towards the cage. If they hadn't been desperately trying to keep quiet, they would have noticed it kept giving the jeep sidelong glances, its lips curling in what could only be a sly grin. As it moved off towards the cage a few hundred yards away, David let out a slow sigh.

"Jurassic Park hasn't got shit on this." Phillip whispered, his hands trembling slightly.

"Karen! Get ready to record the weight! Lydia, get the camera rolling!" David hissed, picking up his binoculars. Lydia slowly opened her passenger side door and slipped out, making sure she stayed next to the jeep. She had the camera out and was filming the dinosaur. Phillip was busy taking photos, his digital camera capturing image after image.

"Fascinating!" Phillip breathed "I think its scales change colour to blend in with the snow during winter!"

"What makes you say that?" David whispered back.

"It would make a lousy predator in the summer if it was white, wouldn't you agree?"

"That makes sense."

The dinosaur had reached the cage, which it appeared to be investigating. Then it moved away from the cage towards the trailer they had brought the cage on. It was still near where they had parked when they arrived.

"No! The cage, go to the cage!" David muttered.

The dinosaur was busy investigating the trailer though. It began pushing it with its head, its horns clanking against the metal. After a few more minutes, the dinosaur decided that the large piece of dead animal was a much more interesting prize. It turned and began heading towards the cage.

"How long do you reckon that is?" Phillip whispered

"Nose to tail tip? Gotta be at least... twenty... twenty five feet. Maybe four or five feet tall at the shoulder... Christ this thing is huge."

"It's beautiful..." Lydia whispered up at David.

"Don't drop your guard!" he whispered back.

The dinosaur had entered the cage and was busy sniffing the meat.

"Karen!"

"I know I know!"

"Well?!"

"Gimme a sec! Okay... minus the meat... and the bracken... oh holy shit... holy shit!"

"What! What is it? How much does it weigh?"

"Uhh... seven hundred and twenty three point one three eight kilograms."

"Jesus! That thing weighs nearly a ton?!"

"Y-yeah..."

"Quick! While it's in the cage, hand me the microchip!" David said. Karen grabbed a small silver case and flipped the lid up. Inside it contained a few tranquiliser darts, and one metal cylinder. She pulled out the cylinder and handed it up to David. He popped one end of the cylinder off, and withdrew a high tech looking dart. It was specially designed to inject a microchip that would allow the dinosaur to be tracked via GPS. He quickly took out the tranquiliser dart from his gun and replaced it with the microchip dart. Raising the rifle he took careful aim. Gently squeezing the trigger, the rifle spat, and the dart zipped through the air... and hit the snow behind the dinosaur with a little piff. David looked astonished. The Dinosaur had ducked. It looked up, straight at the jeep.

"Everyone saw that right?" David asked.

"Yes. And I think we should be going. Now." Phillip said, slowly sliding into the jeep, closing his door as quietly as he could.

"Lydia! Lydia get back in the jeep!" David hissed, handing the gun back to Karen.

"Did you see that? It ducked!" Lydia said, still filming.

A loud growl carried through the thin air.

"Lydia! Get the fuck in the jeep right fucking now!" David said frantically. The dinosaur had walked out of the cage, and it was walking towards them. It paused, before letting out an earth-shattering roar. The sound was unlike anything David had ever heard before, and he had heard every animal that roared. The closest comparison he could make was a combination of the T-Rex roars from Jurassic Park, a lion and a bull elephant. This roar was much louder than any of those though. This roar shook snow of nearby trees.

"Lydia get your ass in this fucking jeep right goddamn now!" David screamed, realising his mistake a split second to late. Even if it was a dinosaur, it was still an animal, and David knew when an animal was signaling a challenge. A challenge he had just accepted. The dinosaur broke from standing into a full sprint, snow flying up around it. It was about two hundred yards from them, but it closed that distance in a matter of seconds. The dinosaur's horned head slammed into the side of the jeep with a horrific bang. The jeep was launched into the air, practically folded in half. It crashed down in the forest, smashing trees and sending frozen dirt flying in all directions. The dinosaur snorted and turned to face Lydia. Lydia was standing where the jeep had been, her face was pale, and her entire body shook with fear. David slowly raised his head out of the snow. The impact had knocked him clear from the sunroof. The pain in his leg told him he hadn't escaped unscathed. He looked around and saw Lydia, backing slowly away from the dinosaur. She was looking off to one side, trying not to look it in the eye.

"Lydia! Play dead!" David yelled, pushing himself up to his knees. The colour drained from his face as he felt the bones in his fractured leg, break. He collapsed into the snow, but struggled upright again. The dinosaur was still advancing on Lydia, who was now curled into a ball. David pulled his binoculars from around his neck and flung them with all his might towards the dinosaur. They hit the Dinosaur on the back and bounced off, one of the lenses shattering. The dinosaur whipped around, and started making for David.

"Oh crap..." David said, freezing in place. He desperately hoped that thing about dinosaurs having bad eyesight was true. Then Lydia did something very, very stupid.

She saw that the dinosaur had turned, so she had got up and started running down the road.

"Lydia, don't run!" David yelled, but he was too late. The dinosaur chased her down in a matter of moments. It leapt through the air, it's jaws clamping around her waist. There was a horrifying scream as they skidded through the snow, leaving a trail of red behind them. The dinosaur looked up... with Lydia's torso hanging limply from its huge jaws.

"One bite... my god... one bite..."

David looked around and saw Phillip had climbed from the wreckage. Blood was oozing down his face and his hands were torn to shreds. Bone jutted out from his shoulder and one of his ears was hanging off. He was clearly in shock.

"Phillip! Stay still!" David cried, but either Phillip didn't hear him, or couldn't. He began crawling slowly through the snow. The dinosaur tossed Lydia's remains aside, turning towards Phillip. Blood dripped from its chin as it moved over to Phillip. It paused for a moment, studying him, before it pounced the shot distance, grabbing his head in its jaws. It bit down and there was a sickening crunch. David was terrified. He was next, he was sure of it. Years of studying dangerous animals and he was going to be killed by a fucking dinosaur. But the dinosaur didn't come for him. It raised its head and sniffed the air. It walked cautiously over to the jeep and grabbed the chassis in its jaws. With the sound of screeching, twisted metal, it pulled the jeep out of the trees. With terrifying ease, it ripped open the jeep, and stuck its head inside. There was a ripping sound and it emerged holding one of the seats in its jaws. Tossing that aside it went back into the jeep, this time pulling out Karen. She looked remarkably unharmed, but there was no way she could have survived that impact. The dinosaur grabbed her around the middle with its mouth, easily lifting her off the floor. It turned, and trotted off into the forest with its prize. David could feel himself going into shock. He couldn't handle what he had just witnessed. He'd seen people dragged from boats by hungry crocodiles, and people gored by angry rhinos, but he had never seen an animal tear apart three people and a jeep before. As he lay in the snow, he became dimly aware of the sound of an engine coming up the road.

Karen had felt the impact, and everything had gone dark. Now a dull, burning pain in her ribs was slowly bringing her back to consciousness. She slowly opened her eyes and found herself staring into a large, ice blue, reptilian eye. She started up, but pain shot through her side. Her ribs were definitely cracked, if not broken. She tried to back away, but found she was hindered by deep snow. The dinosaur approached her slowly, and opened its mouth. Karen let out a small scream, throwing her arms up in front of her face. Something hot and slimy pressed itself all over her face. Karen recoiled, looking to see what it was. The dinosaur had just licked her. Its saliva was a strange syrupy texture, oddly yellow in colour with a slightly sweet smell. The rather thick film it left on her face made her skin tingle. It looked at her quizzically. Karen sat, terrified, unable to move or look away from the huge animal. This thing was easily larger than a grizzly, no doubt a lot more voracious too. It leaned forwards and pressed its nose between her legs. Karen shrieked in terror, trying to back away again, but her back hit a tree. The dinosaur advanced again, and Karen fainted.

William harrumphed with annoyance. Why did humans have to be so fragile? Or maybe it was his own strength he needed to control? He hadn't meant to send that car flying as far as he did. All he wanted to do with that other girl was stop her from escaping, but he had hit her rather hard... aaand trying to catch her with his mouth probably wasn't the best idea. That older man was going to die anyway though. Better to finish him off quickly really. This one had survived though. She was a perfect match for his mother's plans though. She smelled right and everything. He carefully picked her up with his front paw, and awkwardly placed her on his back. He shuffled for a few moments, trying to get her in position. When he was satisfied she wasn't going to fall off, he took a few steps forwards and sank into the earth. He emerged into his home with Gaia, walking quietly into the large cave. Gaia was there; placing a young looking man, perhaps seventeen years old, into a pod similar to the one Valeriya was sealed inside. Only this pod was about the size of a coffin, and made from a strange leathery leaf-like material. The pod was attached to a long thick stem that in turn hung down from a massive plant that dominated one wall of the cave. The plant itself actually went back into the rock a fair distance. Gaia had said it acted like a giant womb, but for what she wouldn't say. The pod itself was filled with long fleshy tentacles, which wrapped tightly around the boy as soon as he touched them. He moaned quietly, and several tentacles forced themselves easily into his mouth and nose. The lid of the pod looked like a pair of large leaves, which closed tightly around the boy. William was put in mind of a pitcher plant, but the function was radically different. The leaves of the pod bulged and squelched as the pod was filled with fluid. The massive plant slowly retracted the pod, and it vanished into its squishy recesses. Gaia looked up as William approached.

"Another one already?" She asked. William bobbed his head in acknowledgement.

Gaia walked over to Karen and carefully lifted her off his back.

"Hmm... this one is hurt. Try to be careful will you?"

William whined.

"Now don't give me that look, you know how fragile humans are."

"Sorry mother." William thought.

"That's quite alright. Now, your sister is nearly finished. With any luck those people you attacked will leave the forest. If I am correct about the way this sort of thing works, the Canadian government will spend many years in court over this case, and will issue warnings."

"We will have to contend with poachers, mother."

"Nothing you can't handle I'm sure." Gaia said dismissively, placing Karen into a pod. The girl groaned as the tentacles wrapped around her.

"This 'internet' is a remarkable tool humanity has created. So much information, I have learned a lot in a very short space of time... No wonder governments want to control it." Gaia continued as the leaves of the pod closed. There was a soft whimper from the pod as it filled with fluid, before retracted.

"Now then." Gaia said, standing up, beckoning William to follow her. He obeyed and they went into the bedchamber.

"As you've been such a good boy, I feel you are due a reward. But you're going to have to do some extra work before I give it to you."

"Yes mother."

"Good boy. Now, all I want you to do is become my pet."

William's body went rigid as the command was given. His mind and body were suddenly swamped with pleasure, and he slumped at her feet, panting slightly. Any intelligent thought he had was washed away with the tide of bliss, leaving only what Gaia desired. She perched her soft voluptuous form on the edge of the bed, spreading her legs and beckoning William forwards. He obeyed, head bowed in submission. Gaia's soft pussy was already glistening with the golden nectar her body produced in vast quantities.

"You know what to do." Gaia said. William did indeed know what to do. He lay down before her, placing his snout between her legs. Opening his mouth, he gave Gaia's pussy a long, luxurious lick. She let out a deep sigh, placing her hands on his horns. He licked again, the sweet taste of her nectar filling his mouth, her scent burning in his nostrils, turning his mind to soup.

"Mmm... good pet." Gaia said, grinding her crotch against his face. He whined at her.

"Keep at it, pet." She ordered. The word pet was not being used as an affectionate term any more. It was what he was. Nothing more than her pet. He continued lapping at her nether lips, more of her sweet juice filling his mouth. His big, thick, hot, slimy tongue pressing against her, sliding it's entire length up and down, causing Gaia to gasp and wriggle. Her grip on his horns tightened, holding his head against her.

"Slide it in."

William placed the tip of his tongue at her entrance, and slowly pushed it inside her pussy. Gaia let out a lusty moan, forcing herself down onto William's long tongue. William nearly gagged as she used his tongue as her fuck toy, slowly riding it up and down. Her juices spilled over his snout and ran down his chin. Gaia began bucking her hips into his snout, gripping his horns and using them as leverage. William enjoyed being used like this. This is all he was. Gaia's obedient pet and fucktoy. Gaia was moaning loudly now, her pace increasing, then without warning she slammed her hips into his muzzle, letting out a loud cry. Her cum squirted out of her, liberally coating William's tongue and face. William eagerly swallowed as much of the thick, sugary cum as he could, his body filling with a drug-induced warmth. Gaia let out a few short, squeaky gasps, her body spasming against him. She closed her eyes and let out a contented sigh. Releasing his horns, she pulled away, his tongue sliding out of her with a wet squelch. William quickly drank up all the cum he could. Gaia meanwhile, had climbed onto the bed. She stood on all fours, her jiggly bum raised in the air.

"I think you've earned your reward, pet." She said. William got to his feet and approached her, placing is front paws on the bed. His long reptilian shaft slipped out from a barely visible slit near the base of his tail. It was long and pink, wider at the base, tapering to a tip at the end. He placed his large paws on her butt cheeks, gently spreading them. Leaning down he slid his tongue deep into Gaia's anus. She moaned and gasped as he slid his tongue in and out of her anus, making it slippery and wet. Withdrawing his tongue with a pop, he rolled her over, placing the tip of his cock against her sphincter. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and let out a loud, wanton moan as his cock slid inside her. Arching her back she forced more of his dick inside her, internal muscles clamping down. William let out a pleasure-laden growl, and began to slide his cock slowly in and out of her. Gaia gripped him tightly as he began to rock her back and forwards with his thrusting. She could feel his big dick throbbing inside of her, his glistening slit dripping slime onto her bum as he thrust in and out. Her sphincter clamped down against his cock, making him growl and hiss, drool and the remains of her femcum dripping from his lips. Gaia smiled, he was extremely close to cumming, but he wouldn't. Not until she told him too. Her inner walls began to pulse and throb, gripping his cock, holding it inside her. William let out a startled yelp, but didn't resist her dominance. Her arse was milking his dick, and there was nothing he could do about it. His hips bucked against her, his orgasm was so close now, and it was nearly painful.

"Aaah... Cum for me pet." Gaia commanded.

William let out a soundless roar as he came to her command. His seed spilled forth in a molten torrent, filling Gaia and oozing around his cock, running over her butt and down his legs. A second long squirt issued forth, and William's knees buckled. A third powerful squirt caused him to collapse next to Gaia. They lay there, panting. Cum oozed from Gaia's anus in a slow and steady stream.

"Good boy." She said, patting him on the muzzle. William licked her hand and chirruped at her.

Valeriya floated in darkness. It was warm and comfortable, and felt oh so good. The feeling that wrapped her body was exquisite, wet and warm. Her body would shudder occasionally as a wave of intense pleasure rolled through her. Every time she tried to gather her thoughts, she lost concentration and any coherence in her mind melted away as bliss filled her. Now though, it was becoming slightly easier to think. Like her mind was returning to her body after leaving for a very long time. Thoughts began to coalesce in her head after travelling from a very long way away. Her body shuddered again as another orgasm rolled through her, the tentacles throbbing inside her vagina and anus had given her so many. More than her drug-addled brain could recall. More than she could remember as her sluggish mind began to return. After a while, her mind began to form images. It was a bit of a surprise after so long with nothing but glorious darkness. She saw Gaia... her mother. A feeling of belonging settled on her when she saw this image. She belonged to Gaia, belonged by her side. Her mother... loving and kind, soft and warm as a summer's breeze, but at the same time she was strong and hard like a mountain. Valeriya belonged by her mother's side, with her... brother? Did she have a brother? Of course she had a brother. She knew him too. Strong and dependable, loyal and caring, but fun and silly too. Valeriya felt herself smiling as the images slowly faded to black again. Valeriya didn't know how long it had been since her thoughts had returned to her, but this time she felt different. Her body felt different. It felt incredible, almost like she was wearing a skintight suit. She tried to flex her muscles, and was surprised to find she could move a little. As her muscles stretched, it was like something slotted into place. She suddenly felt complete. As she drifted once again into darkness, she briefly wondered why she felt so... big.

William raced through the forest, streaking over streams and fallen logs, his massive paws ripping through the ground as he went. He arrived at the massive spruce, and without slowing down, dove into the earth. He emerged in the bedchamber, which he noticed had been made considerably larger. He didn't stay long though, hurrying through into what he called the "birthing chamber". Gaia was already there. She turned as William arrived, panting slightly.

"You are just in time." Gaia said with a smile. William trotted to her side and sat down. His head was considerably higher than Gaia's when he sat down. She glanced up at him. He realised what he was doing and quickly lay down, nuzzling his snout against her waist. Gaia smiled and stroked his head. The huge pod shuddered violently, bulging in places. The sound of something large thrashing about could be heard coming from inside. The sides of the pod bulged and some blue slime squirted out from around the edge of the lid, but that was it.

"The lid is stuck! Quickly, William!"

William sprang forwards at Gaia's command, large claws digging into the side of the pod. With a mighty heave he tore through the walls of the pod. Blue slime burst from the pod, carrying something large and bedraggled. The tsunami of goo knocked William off his feet and sent him sliding across the floor. He struggled to his feet, dripping with slime. Valeriya flopped around in the slime, her clawed feet scrabbling against the floor. Then... Blue fire erupted from her body, burning away the slime but leaving everything else untouched. With a mighty crow, the Phoenix was born. As the flames died down, Valeriya stood, her wings partially unfolded, helping to stabilize her shaking body. Her feathers gleamed in the light, shining and metallic in appearance and colour. The feathers on her breast were a deep rich gold, while the feathers on her back and wings were a red-copper colour. Her head was like that of an eagle, her silver eyes glittering. She opened her large hooked beak the colour of rose gold, and let out a soft caw. A crest of feathers on her head fluttered, rising slightly, before lying back down again. Her tail was long and elegant, more like a bird of paradise than an eagle. The skin on her powerful looking legs was a brighter gold than her breast, and her large, razor sharp talons were as black as onyx. Her beak was slightly open as she tried to recover from her rebirth. Her chest was heaving as she gulped in air. William approached slowly, and Valeriya hopped away, eyeing him nervously. William whined and stopped moving. He could see her much more clearly now. Her beak actually had a black tip, with a metallic red sheen. William estimated the size of her body was about six or seven feet tall, but her wingspan was truly colossal. She spread her wings and let out a tremendous call. William guessed that, from tip to tip, her wings were at least twenty five - thirty feet in span. She flapped them and sent a powerful gust of wind buffeting through the cave. She screeched again. This time William responded with a roar of his own, easily drowning out the sound of the Phoenix.

"B-brother?"

William blinked. He had definitely just heard her voice in his head.

"Brother, is that you?"

William suddenly felt connected to Valeriya in a way he hadn't felt before.

"Yes... I'm here sister." He responded. Calling her sister... it felt so natural.

"I feel... I feel... amazing." Valeriya slowly crumpled to the floor. William darted forwards and caught her on his back before she actually hit the floor.

"Poor dear. She must be exhausted from her birthing. Bring her to bed with us." Gaia said, beckoning William to follow. He struggled slightly with Valeriya's massive wingspan, but eventually managed to get her into the bedchamber. The bed had gone, but the entire room had become more like a nest. The moss had become larger and fluffier, and walls had grown around the edges of the room. William carefully climbed over one of these walls and into the nest. It felt incredibly soft and comfortable under is paws. Gaia lifted Valeriya off her brother's back and settled her in the nest. Valeriya chirped softly. William trilled in reply. Gaia knelt between the two, gesturing William to lie next to her. He did so, his huge body easily able to hug both his mother and his sister. Gaia started stroking Valeriya's head gently scratching and rubbing it all over. Valeriya cooed with delight, her large intelligent eyes slowly closing behind golden eyelids. Gaia began humming, an enchanting sound that filled the cavern. Then she started to sing. It was soft and wordless, but William felt his body relaxing. His mind began to drift off, and soon both he and Valeriya were sound asleep. Gaia continued singing even as they slept. She finally felt fulfilled and satisfied. Her children were born and together they would change the world. Lying back between her children she smiled to herself, song becoming a hum. William and Valeriya snuggled up to her in their sleep. Gaia finished humming and gently stroked their heads. They were such cute children.

"Change the world... It's about time humanity changed with the world." She said quietly to herself. Perhaps she should have done this millennia ago, when humanity was still coming into it's own. But then her new race might have evolved into the same destructive form. Mixing human and animal... perhaps they would have a better appreciation for nature? Would her new offspring treat her world with respect?

"I wonder what I should call them?" She mused aloud. Valeriya let out a quiet cheep. Gaia sighed and closed her eyes, settling down with her true children. The lights in the cave dimmed to a faint glimmer. Naming the new race could wait. For now, she just wanted to enjoy her most beautiful children.

As winter slowly began to fade, and the snow began to melt, David Petersen sat in his apartment in Vancouver. He was slumped in a chair; empty vodka bottles littered the floor. His eyes were bloodshot and his chin was dark with stubble. The University had blamed him for the death of his two students, but as they had both signed waivers nobody could sue anyone. Still, the University had fired him anyway, making a public display for the baying press. All his research had been taken from him and the forest had been quarantined as a search was made to try and find Karen's body. He told them they wouldn't find it, but this just seemed to make things worse. Not only was he a murderer, but an incredibly unsympathetic murderer too. Then, a few weeks ago, people had started to go missing. People living along the more remote borders of the forest were vanishing without trace. Camps were found along some of the quieter walking trails completely deserted. Drag marks and strange paw prints confirmed suspicions of the culprit. Of course the press had blamed him for this too. Blaming him for giving this "Prehistoric Terror a taste for Human Flesh". All in all, his life was in the shitter. There was a pounding on his door. He sighed, got up and got dressed as the pounding continued. He grabbed his phone, his wallet and his keys, pulled his boots on and grabbed his jacket. The pounding on his door was becoming more insistent. He finally walked over to the door and opened it. He gazed blankly at the angry looking bailiffs.

"Just fucking take it. Take everything, I don't care anymore." He said, pushing past them and heading outside. The crisp spring air was refreshing on his face as he got into his car and drove off. He wound down the windows and headed towards the Boreal Forest. It took him quite a few hours, but he eventually arrived at the sight where he had lost three people. He stopped in the old logging site and got out his car. His boots squelched in the mud as he looked around. Everything looked different with less snow about. There was a large warning sign up at the treeline cautioning people about the presence of a dangerous animal. He walked to the boot of his car and opened the boot. Inside his boot was a long case. He took a small key from his pocket and unlocked the case, opening it to reveal a .585 Gehringer. David picked up the elephant gun and checked it over. It had been expensive, but he didn't really care about paying off his credit card debt now. He placed the gun back in the case, pulling out a leather bandolier, pushing the large rounds his gun fired through the leather loops. Taking off his coat he attached the bandolier to his chest, slipping his coat back on and pulling his full rucksack out of the car. Fastening the straps at the front, he then slid the gun into a waterproof bag, slinging that over his shoulder as well. Closing the boot lid, he marched off into the forest.

It took a few days of hiking before he found signs of the dinosaur. The Canadian government had put a bounty on the dinosaur, stating that it had become a dangerous man-eater, and had to be put down for the safety of everyone. The scientific community had been outraged at this, saying they should just ban people from entering the forest. David hadn't really paid attention to the ridiculous argument. He had already made up his mind by that point. He was sloshing through partially melted snow when he discovered the hunter's camp. There were three tents in a small clearing. Each tent had been ripped open. Several trees around the clearing had large chunks missing from their trunks. Clearly they had tried to fight back. After a few minutes of searching, David found a path that had been smashed through the undergrowth. There was a trail of blood heading down the trail, so he followed it. The blood trail went up a steep incline, emerging at the top of a rocky bluff. David knelt down and crawled to the edge of a large rock. He peered over the side and saw the ground dropped away towards a wide river valley. He pulled his gun out of the back and set up its bipod. He adjusted the scope and scanned the length of the river. There was no sign of anything down stream. He swept his view upstream and caught a glimpse of something large moving along the shore. He focused the scope, and then loaded a round into the chamber. There was a crash and David saw a man burst out of the trees and begin running along the river. His clothes were torn and there was blood on him. There was another crash, and the dinosaur emerged from the woods in a shower of splinters and dirt. David watched as it closed the distance rapidly. The man tripped and fell on the uneven rocks. The dinosaur reared up, about to finish the man off with a blow from its huge paws. David squeezed the trigger. And the gun kicked, the shot echoing around the valley. He saw the bullet impact between the dinosaur's shoulder blades a few nanoseconds later. He saw blood spray over the rocks as its heart exploded through its chest. The beast toppled over backwards and landed in a crumpled heap, blood oozing over the rocks and into the river. David got up and began making his way down towards the body.

It took him about twenty minutes, but he eventually made it down to the river and over to the man. He was sitting on a rock; his hands were shaking as he wiped blood off his face with a dirty rag.

"You alright?" David called as he approached.

"Y-yeah... thanks." The man said. He was clearly a hunter. He wore a bandolier of shotgun shells around his waist.

"Damn... I was sure this fucker was gonna get me." He said, breathing out slowly. David climbed up next to him, placing his gun down against a rock. He took off his backpack and pulled out a mintcake, handing it to the man.

"T-thanks!" the hunter said, eating it with still trembling fingers. "Wish I thought to bring a gun that size." He mumbled through a mouthful of minty sugar.

"What happened?" David asked.

"We were after the bounty. Damn thing came outta nowhere. Tore our camp to shreds. Our guns did fuck all. I had a Winchester 70 and put a round right between its eyes. Barely cracked a scale. Bastard swiped at me, broke my rifle and my arm. My mate hit it point blank in the side of the head with a 10-gague slug, all it did was piss 'im off. Never seen any animals take that kind of firepower."

"Never been big game hunting then?" David asked

"Not unless you count moose."

"No."

"Then no, I ain't."

David stepped carefully over the rocks to where the dinosaur's body had landed. The hunter stepped beside him.

"Jesus! I didn't realise it was so fucking big!" the hunter said incredulously. There was a snap. David looked up. The hunter's head was facing the wrong way. As the body slumped, David saw the dinosaur's tail, and jumped back as it slammed into the rocks. It was have it the hunter across the face so hard his neck snapped. There was rustling sound, and the dinosaur slowly got to its feet.

"Impossible..." David breathed. He scrabbled back to his rifle, loading another round into the chamber. The dinosaur began moving towards him. The gun blazed again, this time the round smashed into the side of its head, taking off half of its face. It didn't even flinch. There was a gristly crunch, and its face began to repair itself. Blood and fragments of bone seemed to be running in reverse as its face reconstructed itself. David began desperately loading another round, but the dinosaur swatted the gun out of his hands. He gazed back at it in terror. He noticed that patches of its white scales were turning green. It seems Phillip had been right after all. It pinned him down with its huge paws and opened its slavering jaws.

"This is it!" David thought, and screwed up his eyes. Yet all the dinosaur did was let out a deep breath, right in his face. Its breath was sweet and intoxicating. David lost control instantly, his body slumping against the rocks. The dinosaur licked his face, and then slid it's tongue into his mouth. David couldn't resist, and it tasted so sweet, so why would he. The tongue withdrew, and he found himself slowly blacking out.

When he awoke, he found it was in darkness. His body was wrapped tightly in something. Something wet and warm, full of slimy fluid. He couldn't move his body, and there was something in his mouth and nose. His body felt strange, like it was... changing. He didn't know how or why, but that's how he felt. Her tried looking around, but something coiled around his head, holding it in place. There was a strange wriggling feeling in his ear, then he felt something force it's way through his ear canal. There was a moment of intense pain, but it faded rapidly. David shuddered, and his mind went blank.

Valeriya blinked. She was lying down, apparently. Nestled in something of great comfort. She slowly raised her head and looked around. She was in a familiar nest. Her nest. It belonged to her and her family. She sat up, stretching her neck and wings. Wings? She flapped them experimentally. Of course she had wings! Why wouldn't she have wings? It seemed absurd to think otherwise. Without thinking about it she began preening her feathers. There was a thumping sound, and William landed next to her with a thud. Valeriya squawked with surprise.

"You're awaaake!" He chirruped jubilantly.

"W-William?"

"Yeeeeees?"

"Why is your face green?"

William looked confused. Then looked down at his paws, which were also green.

"Oh that! Apparently my scales change colour with the seasons, like mother!"

At that, Gaia walked into the room, whole areas of her body were a bright spring green. Here black eyes changed to gold, her hair had become nut brown, small leaves grew from it, and her robe had become soft spring leaves.

"Welcome back to the waking world my dear." Gaia said with a gentle smile.

"Mother!" Valeriya crowed.

"My beautiful daughter."

Valeriya spread her wings and Gaia hugged her. Both of her children were larger than she was, but she didn't mind. Releasing the Phoenix from the hug, she turned to William.

"You have work to do. You can see your sister more when you return tonight." She said, patting him on the nose. He whined at her, trying to make his eyes as big and as round as possible.

"Now William." Gaia said sternly. William whined again, then licked her hand and bounded out of the cave. Gaia licked her hand as she watched him go.

"He's grown so fast. You know, when he was first born, he was only the size of a large tiger. Now He's taller at the shoulder than a human!"

"He is rather large. I hope he doesn't move much in his sleep."

"Oh he sleeps like a log."

"Oh good."

"Already speaking like an adult? I am impressed my dear."

"Should I not, mother?"

"Mmm... I rather like the fact you are maturing faster. It means I don't have to wait as long to set up my plans."

"Plans, mother?"

"Indeed." Gaia said, sitting down in the soft moss. Valeriya settled down next to her, folding her wings and resting her head on Gaia's lap. Gaia began to idly stroke her warm, soft feathers.

"You see, your brother is patrolling the entire northern hemisphere of this planet, searching for people who carry a fragment of my seed."

"Your seed?"

"Yes. It was something I created. The Seed of Life. I used it to sow life on this world when it was just a barren ball of rock. I know not how I myself came into being, only that I awoke at the semi molten core of this planet, with the desire to create more life. Once life had taken hold, I watched and nurtured it, guiding it. I culled it if need be, but never extinguished it entirely. One day I decided to create a form of life that had all of my wants and desires. That could think and reason at a level none of my other creations could. So I sowed the seeds of Humanity. At the start, they were brutish and violent creatures, but I allowed them to evolve, to work out their aggression. But all they ever seemed to do was invent new and more interesting ways of killing each other. Now I see they have come too far. They are destroying my world without care or conscience, save for a few. A few genuinely good humans truly wish to save this world. Within these humans, and humans with the potential to save this world, or the sleeping desire to, I have planted a tiny sliver of the Seed of Life. Both you and William have the ability to control these humans, to guide them back here. Here they will be transformed into a new race. A race that is part human and part animal. They will be the first, and with them I will cull the human race. Any who desire to join me as the cull begins, any who will willingly submit to me, will be saved. The others will be culled. The world will be born anew, just as you have been."

Valeriya listened intently. It was a great plan! She'd always wanted to be part of a big, loving family.

"So... does that mean I will look after the southern hemisphere?" she asked

"Indeed it does my dear. Bring me all you can find bearing the seed. When our family is complete, we shall rise to the surface and make ourselves known."

"I can't wait!"

"Neither can I my dearest daughter... neither can I."
