Woodberry

All the hell and madness outside the walls of Woodberry seemed completely gone. Children played in the streets and people worked normal jobs. The outside world seemed completely archaic and unknown. They had managed and had good build walls consistently under watch by guards who kept walkers at bay. Mikemon wobbled up and the first sight she saw was Tails carefully looking her over to make sure she wasn't bit.

Mikemon sort of yelled, "Why are you holding us prisoners."

Tails said, "Nonsense. We just took precautions. Here in Woodberry you're guest."

Kotemon came in and he didn't have his sword he moved his hand to where his sheath would be and growled, "Where are our weapons."

Tails said, "There nice a secure I assure you."

Kotemon said, "We wish to leave."

Tails concerned, "Trust me neither of you are in good enough condition. Plus it's getting late. You wouldn't make it that far at that rate. Best stay here the night. And once again I assure you're not prisoners you're guest."

Vector a large alligator entered in and whispered something to Tails. Kotemon watched carefully for the cunning and the mood. Tails said, "I have to take care of something at the front gate please wait here."

Tails went to the gate and had it opened. On the other side was Scourge and Blackgatomon on his motorcycle. Scourge came off and grinned, "Well I'll be damned. If it isn't the young fox that I once got to fight his best friends and conquer a world for the first time. How's the apocalypse?"

Tails asked, "What the hell are you doing here?"

Scourge said, "It's a complicated story. Believe me escaping fromChinawas one hell of a mess."

Tails asked, "You came all the way fromChina."

Scourge said, "That's just the tip of the ice burg. We got desperate and found this place. Anyway I was going make a huge trip. You wouldn't hold a grudge at the end of the world would you?"

Tails said, "Not sure. You're a bit unstable last time I checked."

Scourge said, "Then at least take her."

Blackgatomon asked, "What are you doing? I can't go anywhere without you. We've been together for the longest time. Years Scourge, years. I don't want to lose that."

Scourge tilted his shades, "Trust me, I'll be back and it will still be that way. I just want to check if anyone else made it."

She got off and he left she was allowed inside. Tails said, "Stay here a moment I've got to check something."

Tails went back into the house where the held medical treatments where Mikemon and Kotemon were.

Tails said, "We'll accommodate you to a house as soon as you're treated."

Mikemon said, "Thanks."

As soon as Tails left again Kotemon looked out the window and bitterly said, "As soon as you get better we should leave."

Mikemon practically sat up and asked, "What?"

Kotemon watched as Tails left, "I don't trust him. There is something off here."

Mikemon sat up fully getting upset, "After everything I've been through we've finally found a place to relax and you just want to leave based on one person who is trying to help us."

Kotemon asked, "Why do you suppose he knocked us out."

Mikemon said, "If we were in the same position I'm sure we would have done the same thing."

Kotemon looked at the people who seemed to be going about daily life, "These people haven't been out much."

Mikemon put her hands on her hips, "Maybe it's because they've felt safe here."

Kotemon said, "I don't feel safe. I feel more at risk than ever before.""

Mikemon said, "You can't do this. You can't just say you'll leave. For once just listen to me. This place is something we need. We could finally have protection."

Kotemon just walked out as Tails made sure Espio had close eyes on BlackGatomon. Tails came back and lead Mikemon and Kotemon to another house on the other end of this small blocked off area called Woodberry. Mikemon meet up with Tails outside as Kotemon sort of watch. Mikemon said, "Thanks for giving us a place to stay."

Tails said, "It's the least we can do. You'll find that here people are trying to get back to their roots. That's why the people here call me the governor. They sort of came to see me as a leader. So I was kind of put here. Took a while to get the walls up but it keeps the infected out. This is a safe place hell might be the safest place on earth."

Mikemon said, "Sure seems good. Are you sure it'd be ok to stay."

Tails said, "We have plenty of room and supplies to keep us going for years. We always welcome company."

Vector near the doorway and pulled Tails aside and whispered something in his ear. Tails said to Mikemon, "Well I'd love to stay and chat but I have some task to tend to."

Mikemon said, "Ok."

As soon as she came in and Vector and Tails left Kotemon said, "That was suspicious. There is something going on here and I don't like it."

Mikemon raised her voice, "Will you get off it! There is nothing wrong accept your delusions of safety. Can't you just be happy that we were accepted here into a community? This place is safe and for whatever reason that tears you up inside."

Vector and Tails went to the one injured man who had survived the plane crash. Tails went up to him and asked, "What happened."

The general said, "We were being posted around the cities as a means to clear some areas. We were put in the copper to rendezvous with some soldiers that were posted not to far from where we crashed. They were stuck there and needed to get help. We were there back up and we couldn't even make it."

Tails insured, "Don't worry I'll go over there and pick them up myself and bring them right over. And you're sure of the location."

The general confirmed, "Yeah."

Tails turned around grabbing a silencer from the counter one that the general never even noticed. Tails turned around and shot him right in the neck."

Tails eyes gazed with a disturbed and yet satisfied look and grinned, "Let's go welcome some soldiers."

Tails took his most supportive and trained men in some normal trucks. They went to the location and fanned out. Tails came up to the soldiers who were ready to shoot. Tails quickly said, "Whoa I'm not infected. Your general informed me of your situation. I was getting ready to pick you up."

One of the soldiers said, "You meet up with our general?"

Tails said, "Sure did, were in a town not to far from me but I changed my mind."

The soldier asked, "About what?"

Tails shot the soldier and the fanned army the Tails in guns blazing taking out ever last solider then taking the military trucks and started to head back to Woodberry. When they had returned the people gathered along. Tails grabbed one of the helmets and pressed it to his chest, "The general that was in our care had told us about a group of soldiers that were not to far from here. Sadly when we arrived there was nothing left. It appears that the infected already taken them. So we took it upon ourselves to salvage what they left behind to strength our community. That is all."

The group dispersed and that was when Kotemon inspected the military trucks carefully. He noticed the blood firstly then he really took note of the bullet holes in the trucks. He went up to Tails and slightly tested, "I didn't know the infected knew how to shoot."

Tails asked, "I beg your pardon?"

Kotemon said, "The truck has bullet holes in it."

Tails said, "Must have been a misfire and all the tension of being surrounded by the infected."

Kotemon asked, "How's the general holding up."

Tails said, "Not good."

Kotemon returned to the house with Mikemon and Mikemon just gave him a look anticipating him actions. Kotemon said, "He can't be trusted."

Mikemon asked, "What is it this time?"

Kotemon said, "There were bullet holes in the truck."

Mikemon perked her ears, "I heard."

Kotemon said, "Than you heard that he said they were surrounded by infected. Accept there was no infected."

Mikemon asked, "How can you be so sure?"

Kotemon said, "Because I would have smelled it. The infected have a scent that I picked up on they smell like they've been dead forever and that smell would have carried over. I think his men killed them."

Mikemon sighed, "You can't keep doing this. We can have something here. Stop building a conspiracy."

Kotemon said, "I'm trying to keep us alive. He won't let us leave because he's afraid of his little community knowing the truth. We are getting out of here as soon as we can."

Mikemon looked down, "Stop saying we. I'm not going anywhere. I want to stay because it's safe and quite frankly your nuts."

Kotemon said, "What if I'm right."

Mikemon said, "If there was something going on there'd be more specious people. There would be obvious signs not some made up bullshit."

Kotemon said, "Fine. You rest in your dream world."

Tails had meet up with up a scientist who had gotten a hold of Kotemon's pets severed heads. There were still alive of course.

The scientist remarked, "This is remarkable. Whoever this guy is; is truly smart. He removed the teeth and arms to avoid any scratches of bits almost making them not a treat."

Tails asked, "Why do that?"

The scientist said, "The smell. I assume he knew that the other infected would be thrown off by this."

Tails just left to the general removing his head and going into a secret cabinet to get to his house without being seen. He placed the severed head in a water gar and it awoke as in infected he almost jumped back after he placed it. Tails went to his notebook and opened it looking at the names. Tails then went into another room with a fence one side. He opened the gate and took out a girl with a bag over her head. She was chained to the back of the fence. He took off the bag to see his infected daughters face. Tails got emotion, "I'm here Penny. Daddy's going to take good care of you know."

She kept trying to bite him but he was just out of reach. He was annoyed by this and forced the bag back on her head and shoved her back inside closing and locking the gated fence. Tails left to check in on BlackGatomon.

Tails walked to her place and stood as she remained seated he said, "Everything ok?"

BlackGatomon said, "I haven't gone this long waiting for Scourge."

Tails sat beside her not getting to close, "I wish in knew what it was like to have that love you have."

BlackGatomon said, "It's so scary at times. I never knew I'd meet him under such strange circumstances. And we've been in love for five years. And every time I see him the love is rekindled again. I never knew that we were going to spend that much time together. We chose to be together and we haven't strayed away from it. It scares me that he left. I know he means well."

Tails asked, "Where would he be going?"

BlackGatomon said, "To check for other survivors."

Tails asked, "He thinks there out there?"

BlackGatomon said, "He knows."

Tails asked, "How can he be so sure?"

BlackGatomon said, "He knew his friends would make it. He'll be looking for them out there somewhere."

Tails stood up and said, "He is brave and I hope that he finds them after all we can always offer them sanctuary here."

Tails left and went to check up on Mikemon again. Tails made his way to the other end and got to the house and went in. Mikemon came out first and asked, "What is it?"

Tails said, "Just wanted to check up on you."

Mikemon smiled, "You seem to check up quite often."

Tails said, "Well I get around."

Mikemon randomly asked, "Are you single by any chance?"

Tails was flustered and said, "Well that sort of came out of nowhere."

Mikemon looked around and just felt sort of shamed, "I guess it was. After all by the size of this place and you being in such a high place. I should have known you were with someone."

Tails sort of teased, "Well I didn't say that did I?"

Mikemon stepped out further, "So you are single. Well this is odd. Well I'm sure you're busy anyway."

Tails reminded, "I came you check up on you so I have time."

Mikemon said, "Well I'm sure it would be weird to ask you out on a sort of date."

Tails asked, "Sort of date?"

Mikemon said, "Well under the circumstances it'd be a bad idea to leave so I thought a walk through this area would be considered a sort of date in my book."

Tails almost laughed, "Well that's a funny way of thinking about it."

Mikemon looked down, "You think I'm dumb don't you."

Tails lifted up his hand and grabbed hers and said, "Come on let's go."

She looked up and let him lead her to the wall. They made there way up a ladder he singled for the guards to go take a break.

Tails sat down looking out there and said, "Must have been tough out there."

Mikemon said, "It's sad too. I had only recently got back with my sister."

Tails quickly asked, "Sister?"

Mikemon said, "Her name is Gatomon. She and I go way back. We had made so many plans together."

Tails softly muttered, "I can see the resemblance."

Mikemon asked, "What?"

Mikemon said, "Oh I was just saying how cute you were. I sort of tend to get shy about this sort of stuff. I haven't had much luck especially with everyone worried about the world out there."

Mikemon blushed slightly, "Oh well thanks. Sometimes I even like to pretend like none of that nonsense is happening."

Tails asked, "How did you get separated from your sister?"

Mikemon looked out, "We had found a farm. The place seemed safe for only so long. We were in a group. But the infected came at out I was forced into a forest while the other drove off."

Tails asked, "So they left you there?"

Mikemon said, "They thought I wad died. Even I thought I was but I kept going."

Tails asked, "So do you think there still alive."

Mikemon said, "I'm sure they are. But listen I'd rather not keep talking about it."

Tails said, "No, no I completely get it I'm sorry. It's just that whenever I hear that there I survivors I can get pretty rallied. I guess it's just me trying to protect everyone I can."

Mikemon looked at Tails and said, "I see why they made you governor. You had the qualities of a true leader. You get out of you're way and try and helping others. That's rather noble of you."

Tails sort of blushed that time, "I try. So what made you want to ask me out anyway?"

Mikemon said, "It's sort of been on my mind. Being in a relationship anyway, I know it sounds odd but..."

Tails slightly grabbed her hand, "I get it. Thank you."

Mikemon asked, "For what?"

Tails said, "Getting my mind off the madness for a bit. I want that too."

They looked at each other for a brief minute then leaned toward each other for a quick kiss. There was a break and another more loving look in both there eyes and then another much longer kiss.
