To Drink is not to Drunk

He stared at the screen in front of him. He wasn't drunk.

His boyfriend stared at him with concern, working diligently at some form of paper work or another. Homework, maybe the Cat's own unfinished tax papers. He didn't know, he didn't really bother to care. All he cared was that his canine lover was there if he needed him.

His eyes slowly took in every word of a fan-fiction. He hated the anime and manga it was based off of, "Naruto", but he loved the fan's takes and alternate realities of it. They made it entertaining. Especially the intellectual ones. Those were nice... Yeah, so nice... This wasn't really intellectual though. And he wasn't really paying attention. He felt too jaded, his mind addled by a bottle and a half of alcohol that he really didn't enjoy. He rarely ever drank anything.

He wasn't drunk.

He never got drunk, he tried once. He was incapable of staying awake long enough. The depressent effect of alcohol worked a bit too well perhaps, and he passed out on his friend's couch before her birthday party even ended, and awoke with a feral cat curled up on his ass. Such a cute little kitten...

No, he didn't drink for the alcohol effect. He never drank for pleasure, and he never drank of his own accord. Only when it was offered to him so he could be polite did he drink. When he drank, it wasn't because he wanted to forget. Or because he was depressed. He drank because he wanted to pass out. He wanted the day to end. He could do it just fine on his own, but that way, he wouldn't remember his last thoughts when he woke up, just take in the new day and get on with whatever stress it presented to him. That's what drinking did for him: Helped him sleep and wake refreshed.

His girly little poodle of a boyfriend said something he didn't pay attention to, just turned his head and gave a pathetic smile.

"Go to bed." Was all his little trap said. And he didn't argue.

Shutting his browser and setting the laptop on the floor, letting his ambient electro music play in the background, he just laid down. He didn't know for how long, maybe about an hour, the mix was an hour and ten minutes and had just ended so it was probably a bit longer. His eyes finally fluttered shut when he felt the warmth of the one person he felt truly connected to press to his back. His thin feline tail curled around the dog boy and his mind went blank, succumbing to sleep.

"Koda?" He blinked. "Kooooodaaaaaaaaa~?" He rolled over in bed, noticing his husky's side of the bed wasn't empty. It was filled with something warm... and furry... and smelled a bit musky, but not in the sense of his male lover... It smelled...
