Keepers Of the Fruit
Merrit has the hots for his childhood friend Jake the Doberman point guard from around the corner. Thanks to Captain Issac's high school basket ball party the Doberman gets a chance to tell Merrit exactly how he feels. The first chapter in Keepers of the fruit, "My big brother Jake".
Ch.1 My big brother Jake
A Drunken Wolf Production
Merrit sighed sliding another stack of cans over the register one by one waiting for the regular beep to ring out before pushing it down the conveyor belt. Now that it had been a year since the white wolf started at Kroger, everything seemed to go boringly slow. "Thanks for shopping here," the wolf said over the counter before turning off his register's light and dropping the no admittance rope. He was grateful his best friend Jake put a good word in for him to get the job. The doberman was always looking out for him like a kid brother.
"You going to lunch?" Jake called from three registers down flicking off his register light and shooing away a few customers to another line.
Merrit nodded as the dog bounded over and wrapped a paw around his smaller shoulders. Jake was almost a whole foot taller than Merrit and was twice as thick making the wolf look like the doberman's crutch. With his free paw he reached into his Khaki pants and pulled out a few coins. "Captain Issac is throwing a little get together tonight while his parents are in Aspen. He bribed his older brother into getting us alcohol for keeping quiet about Jenny and "you know what," he said rubbing his stomach and stopping at the vending machine.
"I'm not ready to get in trouble for underage drinking," Merrit said flatly walking past the machines to his locker. He pulled out his brown sack lunch and headed into the break-room.
"Oh come on. It's Friday. What's four years. Besides, if i beg cutely you know you'll give in," he teased chasing him through the door and smacking his rump. Merrit yipped and grabbed the closest chair and buried his head into his arms. Jake grinned and slid a soda can over before going to the locker area.
Merrit sat up and pulled a turkey sandwich from his bag and munched quietly until Jake pulled up a chair beside him. He had to admire the doberman's care free nature. He seemed so unphased by the monotony of his job that he was still able to be extra polite and helpful to every one. He was so genuine that when Merrit came out to him two years ago, he pulled the wolf into a tight hug, and rested his head ontop of his. He even whispered, "I don't care. Your still my best friend and nothing will ever change that". He remembered crying into the dobie's arms the rest of the night as he petted his back softly. That also started the secret teasing.
"Your awfully quiet today. Something on your mind," Jake said smiling softly.
Merrit tensed up and shook his head. Those green eyes always melted him into puddles. "I'm fine. Lets hurry and finish work so we can get ready for tonight". Jake nodded and bit into his sandwich.
Merrit sat in the mirror grooming himself contemplating on the party that was already going on. Dressed in a nice sky blue button up and black slacks, he wondered if he was dressed appropriately. Not that it would matter he thought. Any guy he would be attracted to would either punch him in the face or make a huge scene if he said anything. If he turned to many girls down they might make assumptions. He chuckled at the thought. He was to short and lean to be the desires of the high school party population. Merrit sighed thoroughly defeated by his own self doubts. He pulled his cellphone from his pocket and texted Jake.
Me- I'm not going. You go ahead. Have fun
Jake- Get ready Scooby. Wear something nice
Me- I'm not ready to be the center of attention
Jake- Too many chicks will be there. Get over your self. Outside in 5.
Me- Fine x.x
Merrit walked down the stairs and down the hall into the kitchen where his parents were working on dinner. His father, a large black wolf with white ear tips, was hunched over the sink peeling potatoes. His mother on the other hand, a very slim petite white wolf, watched lovingly at her husband's struggles while she seasoned t-bone slabs. Upon seeing her son she looked him up and down. "Brute, He's growing up so fast, he's so handsome. Just like his father," she cooed.
The black wolf looked up, shirt and neck covered in large chunks of potato and nodded before going back to his chore. Ever since he came out to his parents his father had stopped talking to him. Now if his father was watching sports when he walked in, he would change the channel to logo or the musical channel. All the years of love and affection his father had for him seemed to go out the window. Now he wished Jake had never talked him into coming out to the pair.
"Will you be home by dinner," his mother asked taking the peeler from the large wolf's paws. He wiped his chest free of potato skins and walked past Merrit with out much of a passing glance.
"I'm probably going to eat with Jake later. I'm going to wait outside. I don't want to be in dad's way," he replied grabbing his wind breaker from the front closet.
"I'll talk to him Merrit. You go have fun". She kissed him on the cheek and straitened his collar. "He can be really stubborn some times.
Merrit agreed and pushed the door open. Already in the drive way Jake sat in his old white corolla wearing his favorite number twenty four lakers Jersey outfit with the matching yellow and purple hat. Sitting in the passenger seat with her arms crossed venting at Jake was the panther Jenny. "I was using birth control. He's the one that didn't want to wear a condom. Now he wants to keep it," she snapped.
"You knew what you were getting"... "Hey Merrit. Get in or we'll be late," he said cranking the engine and fixing his mirrors.
Merrit opened the door and hopped in. The cool air and the colors of pink and purple from the setting sun made the wolf feel a little easier about tonight. He leaned his head against the window as the dobie backed up and pulled out of the driveway. Merrit could faintly hear the sounds of his father yelling at his mother as the trio left the street.
The sounds of base knocking and music playing filled the air as they got closer to the party. Issac's family lived on the wealthier side of town and it always amazed Merrit on how big the houses were up there. As they approached Issac's house they could see cars lined up on both sides of the block filling the street back down to the next street over. Jake grumbled looking for a spot to park and ended up parking the next on the other side.
"Issac promised it would be a small gathering," the dobie exclaimed seeing all the furs walking into the large 6 room house.
"When the basketball team throws a party the whole school generally shows up," Jenny said moving her long black bangs from her face. "Lets get in before all the alcohol is gone."
"Says preggers," Jake snickered dodging a purse.
The inside of the house was a sea of red plastic cups, Styrofoam cups, and beer bottles. Almost every person had his or her choice of drink and was chatting under the mix of the dj spinning music. Some of the more tipsy girls were practically screaming along to Lady Gaga's "Bad romance" to the point Merrit couldn't help laughing. Jake dragged him by his paw into the kitchen where the rest of the basketball team was lining up shots next to a massive counter of booze. A tall panther wearing a white and green thirty three Celtics jersey was getting a noogie from a larger panther while the team tipped back shots. Jenny rushed past the duo almost knocking Issac over to jump into the arms of the larger panther. "Jamie," she exclaimed wrapping her paws around him.
Merrit wished he could wrap his paws around Jake like that. Place his head on his muscular chest and nuzzle the warmth. He smiled dumbly until Jake waved a paw.
"Hello in there? Cranberry screw driver. Sip it slow," the dobie said handing him a cup with a wink.
"Leave the neighbor kid alone and lets chase some tail," Issac said ribbing the doberman.
"Will you be okay?" Jake asked looking at the wolf's cup.
Before the wolf could respond the doberman was dragged off by the rest of the basketball team in their different team jerseys. He wondered if the rest of the teams would have their sports choice jersey on. Jake was carried off into the living room and disappeared amongst the crowd. It wasn't as if he thought Jake would be around him the whole night. He was one of the school's best point guards and was loved by the whole school. The team was only nice to him because Jake threatened to quit the team if they bullied anyone from school. After telling everyone he wasn't gay and just friends with Merrit did they accept the wolf.
Merrit took a sip from his drink and hacked for a second. Never had a cold drink taste so hot going down. With the basketball team and the main party in the living room Merrit watched idly enjoying the remaining two play around. Jenny kept begging her mate for a drink and he placed a paw on her stomach issuing a firm "No". Merrit took another sip a little more use to the taste and bobbed his head to the music. Some new "Pink" song was playing and most of the house was singing the lyrics. A black husky wearing a Miami spurs number six basketball jersey pushed past the blocking kitchen dancers and made it to the drink station. Jenny had her paw half way down Jamie's pants before he lifted her up and carried her out the back of the kitchen and up a flight of stairs. Two stair wells was cool the wolf thought to himself.
"What cha' drinking pup,"the husky inquired grabbing a red plastic cup and looking around at the counter of alcohol.
"Jake said it was called a screw driver. er.. Cranberry screwdriver," he replied trying to sound cool.
The husky grinned and poured himself a moderate amount of cranberry juice before filling the rest with Absolute vodka. He took a black digit and stirred his drink slowly before licking his finger tip. "So your Jake's boy. They tell me you two are.... close," he said with a wide smile.
Merrit shook his head eying the husky before taking another gulp. "Were just friends. I'm just a guy that lives on the next block. Nothing more," Merrit said trying not to turn a shade of crimson.
"That's good to hear. I was hoping I'd have a shot. Try the orange juice next time. Way better screw driver," the husky said wagging his tail in slow swings heading to the kitchen door back to the party.
Merrit growled softly clenching his free paw tightly. His head was already starting to spin and the husky's remarks were pissing him off. He knew every member on the basketball team and had seen the husky recently. Even so he knew he already disliked him.
"I don't know who you are but Jake isn't gay. And even if he was he'd already be taken," Merrit said dumbly finishing his drink in one gulp and slamming the cup down denting the cup.
"Is that so," the husky inquired. He stopped and looked over his shoulder with a devious grin on his muzzle. He turned taking a long draft from his cup. "Name's Torin Whitecrest. I transferred to Corinth High two weeks ago. Jake's.... not my type."
He re dipped a digit into his drink and lightly pressed it onto Merrit's nose. His instincts took over to lick his nose free causing the husky to chuckle. Merrit was in full blush from cheeks to ear tips. He had never had any one flirt with him before much less another male. He had been teased by Jake but that didn't count. His mood toward the husky had turned from hate to an air of mystery with in seconds. Torin pulled him close with the other paw until their chests were touching. "I'll find you a little later. I'm up for Beer pong," he whispered seductively into Merrit's ear.
Torin released him and licked his lips walking back out the kitchen. Merrit rubbed his cheeks until he was sure the red had vanished. His heart was racing but he wasn't sure if that was his screw driver or the husky. He refilled his drink, orange juice this time, and left the kitchen to find Jake.
In the living room things were getting more lively as everyone became more and more inebriated. Merrit's head was spinning slightly as he looked around for the dobie. There was a lot of handsome guys at the party tonight along with some decent looking girls but nothing to pounce on. The Owen otter twin's, the top two divers on the swim team, were at the party with their team captain slumped over their shoulders. Poor cougar was a light weight and had already had too many. Even some of the foot ball jocks were holding drinks flexing their muscles for the girls to see. Issac came walking down the stairs, his Celtics jersey torn hanging down showing hardened abs. "What happened" he could here being whispered as the music changed. "Sarah wouldn't let me get in on it. She was fussing about the stupid rumor," he explained as a few of the jv members of the basketball team questioned.
"Where is the rest of the team," Merrit asked as the panther pushed past the crowd.
"How would i know. Go look for your self. Your such a nuisance sometimes," he snarled grabbing his split jersey and headed into one of the down stairs rooms slamming the door behind him.
Merrit rolled his eyes and padded up the stairs. The three upstairs rooms alone could have eaten Merrit's house. He grinned at Issac and Jamie's baby pictures on the wall before peeking in the open door of the first room. Four random furs he wasn't too acquainted with and the shooting guard looked up from a large bong and waved. "Jake's boy. Come join us," the tiger shooting guard said sending out a huge smoke cloud. "
Maybe later," he replied backing out and closing the door. He could hear "That's Jake's boy" and coughing and couldn't help but grin. He peeked into the second room and saw Jake sitting on the bed. He walked in and fired away.
"Jake, i think i got hit on ... are you naked?" he said trying to peer over the dog's shoulder. Jake tried to stammer drunkenly and wrapped the comforter from the bed over his shoulders.
"Good timing," a female voice said sitting up to reveal a leopard between Jake's legs. She wiped her muzzle casually and patted the doberman on the head. "Good boy. maybe a little longer next time," she nipped his ear before drifting back down to the party.
"What was that about," he mumbled very red in the face at the thought of what just happened.
"Pup... can you hand me my boxers please?" Jake, said embarrassed. He pulled the comforter tighter as Merrit approached with his silk bone printed boxers. "Thanks".
Merrit had never seen Jake look so ashamed and decided not to press the issue. Merrit grinned and peeked over his shoulder but all he saw was a pair of tan and black butt cheeks and a short tail before the scene disappeared inside the silk. The doberman walked around the side of the bed and grabbed his Jersey shorts. The door pushed open and Issac stuck his head in. "Did you finish with that stuck up bit... Dude.. wow.. hope it was good," Issac said watching Jake slip into his shorts. Jake snorted and slipped his jersey over his muscular chest.
"What's that supposed to mean," Jake said angrily pushed past Merrit to glare down at the panther. His green eyes piercing into the panther's. "Hmm?"
"I just figured.. I mean Dude, I'm joking. I know you'd never..." the panther said nervously as the doberman clinched his fists.
Merrit wasn't even in the same world as the dog stared down the cat. All Merrit could do was fantasize about how nice it was between Jake's legs. He would have given anything to have been in leopards place. A wide grin spread across his muzzle as different images of what the doberman's goods could look like flashed by.
"Hey pup, go down stairs and grab me another drink while me and Issac have a little talk," the doberman said stepping forward so his chest touched Issac's. Merrit nodded dumbly still drooling. Jake looked over his shoulder and barked," NOW!"
That snapped Merrit back down to Earth.
"Drink... yea.. got it". Merrit's ears folded back and his tail tucked as he slipped past the pair. He pulled the door shut and bolted down the stairs. "Diamonds" by Rihana was playing over the speakers as he passed a group of furs he assumed were heading up to the bong room. He had only seen Jake get seriously angry when ever his man hood was questioned or anyone messed with his boy. His head was really spinning now and was glad the living room had cleared up a little. Only a few couples were left slow dancing to the dj's tunes. He noticed most of the party had been moved to the outside beer pong table where the different jocks were roaring and chugging. He saw the husky Torin sink a shot getting high fives all around as the other side drank. He pushed through door to the kitchen were Jamie was helping a few of the girls make drinks. They watched patiently as he mixed a green drink up and poured it out to them.
"Ladies, i give you a June bug". He bowed then started pouring. "Jake's boy. Need a drink? I got some bug left," he said spotting the wolf. He offered the white wolf a Styrofoam cup. "Enjoy. That's Midori, pineapple juice, and a splash of whip cream".
"It's not for me," Merrit grumbled not entirely loving Jamie calling him Jake's boy. Though it did always have a nice ring to it he thought to himself. The basketball team called him that all time so it made sense that Issac's older brother would know the term.
"Don't let the dobie get too wasted now. He's your ride home," the older panther reminded.
Merrit nodded and carried the drink back out the kitchen. Over the lower pulse of the house speakers he could hear the leopard talking about her event with Jake. She made sure to make wide gestures when she was talking about the dobie's member. Merrit had no idea what Jake saw in her. Jake was a male with needs that Merrit only wished he could fulfill. He was about to say something to her but decided it was best just ignore her until the word "quick" came up. Just then Jake came walking down the stairs leaning against the guard rail looking a little more worse for wear. He stumbled over grabbing the white cup from Merrit's paw taking a sip. Merrit looked up and stupidly mumbled "your drunk" before trying to take the cup from him.
"I'm fine. Where's Torin. Heard he was looking for you. Hmm..," the dobie trailed off staring spears at the leopard who went red and slinked off with her two followers.
"She said she'd tell everyone your my lover if I didn't fool around with her. Pathetic huh pup," The dobie hung his head and leaned against the railing sitting down. "Seems kinda stupid to say I don't care what people think of me after that," he mumbled taking a seat on the bottom stair.
"Jake, no one would have cared if your turned her down. Your too awesome of a guy for anyone to say anything,. You could just squash them".
He rubbed the dog's head fur before sitting beside him. Jake sighed and leaned his head on Merrit's shoulder. "Thanks Scooby. You corrupt me just right".
Jake yipped as Torin sat down between them squishing both of them to either side from above. "Jake the quake. Can I snag a ride back with you. Frank's upstairs ripped out of his head. Tiger over did it," he said boldly nuzzling Merrit causing the wolf to flicker red.
Jake laughed wrapping his arm around the husky's neck standing up. "Let me finish my drink," he said kneeling down taking the husky with him grabbing his drink off the Floor. "Wonder how long Trevor is going to keep his dad from busting the party. "He tipped his cup back swallowing the last of his June bug.
"That's why i want to leave. Sarah, that sleazy leopard, grabbed him when the Dj left... five minutes ago,"Torin said breaking the dobie's death grip on his neck.
Merrit looked around and leaned over the rail to look up the stair way. "Where's Issac. I want to thank him for the party".
Jake fumbled quickly for his keys and started striding towards the door. "I locked him in the upstairs closet. "I'm.......... an evil drunk," he cackled in what he thought was an evil laugh raising his paw and pointing in the direction of the front door.
Torin grabbed Merrit's paw but he quickly pulled it away. Blushing deeply he tried to stammer something but fell silent. Too many people were still there and he felt too embarrassed to start a scene. Things seemed to calm down more as they walked down the walkway out of the house. At least the cool night air seemed to make Merrit's head feel better. With the full moon high in the sky, the walk back to the car was relaxing. Most of the cars that earlier blocked the street left nothing but tire tracks and plastic cups in the empty spaces as proof of the previous non vacancy. Merrit felt a little more sober now as he walked watching the dobie march in front of him. Torin tried again now a little further away from anybody that would notice them and Merrit allowed it gently locking his digits with his. Both their tails wagged happily as they padded in the moonlight.
"How'd you find out about me. I mean.. you know. Being gay," Merrit whispered turning red again.
The husky scratched the back of his head. "I asked Jake". He smiled innocently and squeezed Merrit's paw tighter. The husky had some really handsome features he thought to himself. Fluffy short black fur that gave way to a lean creamy white stomach that could be seen through his jersey sides. Cute triangle ears and a thick well kept fluffy tail. His blue eyes stood out the most almost seeming to twinkle as Merrit caught his gaze.
"He flat out told you?" Merrit asked breaking the silence.
"I've seen you two leave school together after practice and asked if you two were an item. Once he said you two were just friends, it was just a matter of waiting to meet you.... "face to face".
Torin stopped and pulled Merrit close enough to smell the vodka on his tongue as he spoke. "Like this," he whispered nuzzling the top of his head. He could smell the husky's cologne. It had a mild forest spice smell to it that complemented his natural scent. Merrit took a deep sniff nuzzling back.
"Hike!" Jake barked dropping his keys as he hiked them back.
Merrit fell backwards but the husky's faster reflexes kicked in snatching the keys out of the air.
"Can you drive. That last sip did it for me," he mumbled leaning against the passenger door.
Torin pulled the wolf to his feet and unlocked the car doors. Jake slipped in and rolled the window down leaning his head against the space. Merrit climbed into the back seat but angrily stared daggers at the back of the dobie's head. He truly was an evil drunk Merrit thought as he buckled his seat belt. He didn't get to ride next to either of his cohorts. Torin Revved the engine and the old corolla took off into the night.
Light posts and street signs faded into the distance as the trio headed back into the less wealthy area of Corinth. Merrit leaned his head out the window wondering what different destinations the other cars that passed were heading to. He shuffled his feet and looked up into the rear view mirror. Torin caught his eye and winked getting a red faced wolf. His first taste of alcohol wasn't as bad as he had been led to believe by all the propaganda at school and his parents. It just dulled his senses a little and made his head swim. Thoughts seemed to float more easily in and out of his head as he rode in the back seat. He wondered if the vibration he felt on his leg was his phone dieing. He wondered if his father would ever accept him and grumbled remembering his mom and dad fighting as he left earlier.
"Jake, can i spend the night tonight," the wolf asked pulling himself up by Jake's head rest.
Torin slammed on the brakes and skidded to a screeching halt. All three of them leaned forward against their seat belts as the locking mechanisms caught. Torin looked as if he had been shot and stared blankly out the wind shield.
"What The hell man!" Jake yelled sitting up after freeing his body from his restricting seat belt.
The husky blinked, scratched the back of his head and smiled dismissively. "My bad. This is my house," the dog said pointing to the red bricked two story house on their left.
"Fuck," Jake yawned out unclasping his seat belt. "I'm super sober now," the dobie joked as the husky got out of the car.
Merrit hopped in the front and Jake re strapped in.
"Let me see your phone Merrit. I want to add my number. I left my phone in the house to charge," the husky said leaning into his window extending a paw. Merrit reached into his pocket and flipped it open. "Its dead," he sighed remembering the vibration earlier.
The husky leaned in and pecked him on the cheek. "Get it from Jake. It should be on his roster list. Call me?" he asked standing up.
Merrit nodded and the husky whispered "Goodnight" before walking up his driveway. Merrit sighed and melted into his seat. Jake let a low " pffft" mashing the gas peeling out blowing through the stop sign at the end of the block.
"You could have waited for him to walk into his house," Merrit mumbled not even looking at the dog.
"What? Worried some one's going to rape and pillage your new boyfriend?"
Merrit crossed his paws and leaned back in his seat. "You never answered my question."
The doberman smiled and wrapped a paw around the wolf's shoulders pulling him close. "Yeeeees, you can spend the night."
Even though they didn't share a blanket, he still got to sleep with Jake on his king size sleigh bed, and that was good enough for him. He smiled remembering the time Jake's dad caught them snuggled up in his bed. It took Jake telling them for months he liked girls and Merrit was just his friend. Seven years now he had lived down the block from Jake and he wished the time hadn't of gone by so fast. Senior year seemed like such a far away goal and now it was right around the corner.
"Home sweet home," Jake said making sure he was still in one piece giving himself a once over. The dobie pushed his car door open and heaved himself from his seat. Merrit followed suit lifting one of Jake's arms helping him walk strait. Merrit snagged the keys from the tipsy dobie and pried at the door. Thankfully Jake's dad replaced the broken over head porch-light. He slid the key and freed the bolt pushing the door open. The pair laughed at each other locking the door and stumbling up the stairs. Merrit was sure glad Jake's parent's were asleep for the night. They wouldn't have been happy to know their son had committed several crimes earlier that night. Merrit pushed the dobie's door open and flopped him on his bed. The dobie turned on his night stand lamp then kicked off his shorts and heaved his jersey over his duo colored torso. Merrit caught a glimpse of the dog's bulge against his silk doggie bone boxers before the doberman pulled his comforter down and over his lower half. "You coming to bed," the doberman teased turning on his stomach and grinding his bed slowly.
Merrit crept to the bed trying to hide his arousal. "You can be a jerk sometimes." He threw a pillow at the dog and laid on top of the comforter. "You gonna be okay in all those clothes," he whispered tugging on the wolf's windbreaker.
Merrit grumbled standing back up. "Torin would be sooooo jealous if he knew what i got to see," Jake baited more as the wolf unzipped his jacket and started unbuttoning his shirt. "OW, take it off sexy!............ Too much?" he snickered as Merrit stared dumbfounded at him.
Merrit slipped out of his slacks holding them in front of himself to block Jake's view. "Where's the other blanket." Normally it was on the bed but this time it was no where to be seen.
"My aunt came into town yesterday and she's using that one in the down stairs guest room." He lifted the comforter exposing his muscular almost naked body to him. "Come to bed Scooby. You'll catch a cold."
Merrit nodded dropping his slacks quickly climbing into the large bed. Jake lowered the blanket over them and smiled sweetly. Merrit turned over putting his back to Jake and sighed. Merrit twiddled his paws quietly in silence as Jake hit the light. "You okay? you seem awfully quiet."
"I'm happy," the wolf whispered with no emotion.
The dobie stared at the back of the wolf's head as the light from the moon philtered in through the window. He could see Merrit's ears folded tight against his head and smiled fondly. He reached over and pulled the white wolf the remaining space and up to his chest wrapping his arms around him. Merrit flushed deep red and murred softly unable to help himself. He had always longed to be held by Jake this way ever since the night he had came out to him. He could feel Jake's heart beating slowly into him from the back.
"Jake.. I..I." The wolf went silent tucking his tail between his legs as the dobie rested his head on top of his.
"I guess I'm not entirely over the fact that you won't be "my boy" anymore. Is it wrong i want to hold you one last time while your still mine," he whispered nuzzling his neck.
Merrit blushed a deep shade of crimson at the word "mine" and protested. "But your not gay. You sai-"
Jake cut him off by hugging him tighter till the air left him. He could feel the dobie's crotch lightly press against his back side yet he didn't feel anything hard like he was expecting. The dobie nuzzled his head into the back of his neck.
"I love you.... like a little brother Merrit. I'll always... want to keep you safe and protect you," he said nipping playfully at Merrit's ear.
He understood now what the dobie meant when he said Merrit was "his". Merrit realized Jake wouldn't be able to hang out as much with him anymore if he was dating Torin. He felt bad now that he thought about it. Jake was an only child and for seven years now the Doberman had been like his older brother. They had matching trick-or treat themed costumes back since they were pups. Christmas morning's at the dobie's house, trading gifts in front of the fireplace, were some of his favorite memories. The dobie had always protected him from bullies to the extent "Jake's Boy" was coined and everyone knew who's friend they were messing with.
Long nights staying up late playing games like "Crystal chronicles" and "Super Mario world" while downing snacks and drinking sodas were the weekend routine. He helped him study when ever he had a hard test and ate with with him at lunch everyday till the basketball team ended up sitting with them as a group. Jake had always made sure he was looked out for and included him when ever the team went out for an event, out to eat, or to the movies. No matter what, Jake had been there smiling and offering him a paw to help the wolf if he ever needed. If Jake had of been his older brother, he would have been the best older brother ever. He promised himself right then and there Jake would never lose his little brother, No matter who he dated.
"Jake?"
"Yea, Merrit?"
"Promise you'll always be my big brother."
"If you promise you'll always be my little brother."
"I promise."
"Then It's a promise."
