Hybrid War: Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It took five years to get to Restal... another planet outside the Milky Way that held the same living conditions as earth. Then it took another five months to train to fight the new life forms as well as memorize the large underground base... It was tiresome for most...
Angel looked around the hanger full of Night Ravens and one Dragonfly that fit a usual 6 man assault team. The hangar, control room, and guard tower were the only floors above ground.. The first thing he was being put through was to fly a Night Raven. His reputation as the best sniper you'd ever see was not the only thing he was put in the B-Team for... he was a very adaptive soldier, and he was ready for any form of combat, even if it happened to be fist versus gun.
"Well... looks like everything's..." He was cut off by the sudden alarm as red lights started flashing.
He ran to the elevator and jumped in, pressing the button and watching the door close. The elevator rose to the next floor up and he went running down a hallway into the control room for most things that happened around the Crisis Core.
"What's happening?"
"A small unit of Capthians... moving in on the south edge of our grounds" Alex said from the computer, "They look to be a recon group"
"I got it" He said as he picked up the AS-50 sniper rifle that was kept in the room for this purpose and grabbed 3 more magazines incase. He stepped into a lift, "Take me up"
Once the lift reached the top he was looking around the open air, the dry wind softly blowing making him sweat slightly. He laid down on the lift facing south and looked through the 12x scope on the rifle and saw the recon team of Capthians. They stopped and ducked behind some rocks as they scanned the area once again before coming out of cover and running forward to the next cluster of cover. He fired and watched the dust kick up at their feet as they stopped dead in their tracks. They lifted their guns over their heads.
"Send a team to pick them up, there's only four" He said, using the butt of the rifle to press the button on his com link, "I'll keep my cross hairs trained on them"
"Roger that Angel"
Angel watched as the Rover was speeding across the ground 2 minutes out. It met the Capthians and other soldiers jumped and started tacking guns and cuffing wrists. He chuckled as one made a grab for the soldier moving to cuff him. The soldier side stepped as he slammed the stalk of his M16A4 into the scaled face of the Capthian. Bowie was there questioning one of them as he walked them to the Rover.
"What do they want Bowie?" Angel asked, pressing the butt of his rifle to his ear again.
"They they're scouts sent to look for one of their lost comrades" He pointed at the Capthian in front of him.
"Bring 'em in and put 'em in Cell 6" Angel said as he got to his feet, standing up in the lift. He was lowered to the control room where he saw Alex was still working there, "So why are you running the control room instead of the paper pushers?"
"I told them I'd take over so they could grab some breakfast before they stopped serving" Alex smiled looking at his flat stomach, "Speaking of food, why haven't you been eating for the past three days?"
"Haven't really been feeling good for the past few days" He said, walking over and sitting at the computer next to her, "Let's see what missions we have for today"
Just then a ding sounded from the computer that took incoming communication and sent it where ever it was needed in the base, "Oh, Captain... What are you doing in the control room" It was General Razari.
"I'll get the team and tell them to get to the conference room" Angel said as he got to his feet again, "Alex, please go tell the paper pushers that you are needed so they'll have to eat breakfast in office today"
"Yes, sir"
Angel walked out and began walking down the hallway. He reached up beside his head, "Hey, who's up?"
"Hear you loud and clear Angel" Six different voices echoed in his ear.
"Alright, I need Team Alpha, excluding Bowie and Lexy, to report to the meeting A.S.A.P."
"You got it"
Angel sat down at the head seat as the screen lit up with General Razari's face, "What do we have to do now General?"
"Nothing" She said with a flat tone and a serious looking face. Angel looked away and just sat there, "Damn it... You're too good of a soldier Captain, you don't find my jokes to amusing"
"Not when we're talking about the only job I know how to do ma'am" Angel said with a frown as he looked at the door as it opened, "Looks like the rest of Alpha Squad's ready"
"Okay, I won't bother with anything else then, let's cut straight to business"
Everyone sat down as Angel dimmed the light so everyone could see General Razari with ease, "The floor's yours General"
"First is the good news. Alex, you're sister's transfer was approved and she's getting on the earliest shuttle out. This not being the way it was 5 years ago she will be here faster because unlike you soldiers she'll be traveling at light speed. She'll be Medical Department Director" Angel was breathless as Alex was suddenly hugging him, "And now for your mission. The Night Ravens will be used to protect a local of warriors serving as escorts to D-Company. They are allies so please do not show any misgivings because of their appearances. An Air attack is expected from the Nelons because they're a kill and leave group as you already know, they want something that'll at least make work for what few they hit"
"Alright" Angel said putting hand to his headset, "Prep the runway for multiple take off"
"Roger that Angel"
"Squad dismissed" They stood, saluted, and filed out the door one at a time until they were following Angel to the Elevator,
"Alright, we get any attacks from anyone, I expect a no mercy fight, attack and don't give them to react. We will fly there in casual but when we get there we will fly in a V formation right over their heads" He said as they went to the hangar holding their Night Ravens.
He pressed a button on his watch and felt the small jolt rush through him as his Skill Armor activated. Skill armor was a special energy shield that was powerfull enough to stop a bullet though they were really built to protect against the cell killing bioweapons of their new enemy. The high energy circuits would kill any and all bacteria before it had a chance to touch the skin.
"Hey Angel" He looked over at Reilly, "10 bucks says I'll kill more then you"
"You're on" He said as he looked at her with a deviant grin, "Don't know what good it'll do you though"
"Damn" She said as she looked down, "How about the winner tells the loser to do something"
"I can handle that one"
The pilot seat was closed and sealed off once Angel was in his Night Raven. He was pretty good at flying one considering that flying asn't his specialty. He started the engines and made preparations for takeoff. He chuckled as he watched everyone line up behind him for takeoff.
"Alright, let's bag us some skin soldiers" He said, taking off with a cheer.
The Night Raven was named for being quick, fast, and almost impossible to track or hit. It had a .50 cal mini-gun just under the nose of the jet controlled by a joy stick and trigger on the left handle of the steering wheel. The second weapon being a laser targeting system for rockets which was controlled through the trigger on the right side of the steering wheel. The last weapon on the Night Raven is the nano-artillery canon... it shot an unstable cloud of nanobites that ate away at anything it touched for a few second before they exploded. Angel often called it The Flame Thrower because the nanobites settled on the enemy equipment like waves of blue flames. This canon was fired through voice command and the targeting system was a box following the enemy on the screen glasses that wrapped around your head when you leaned back in the seat. He liked flying the Night Raven for some strange reason that he couldn't understand though. Maybe it was the view, he was cheering as they passed over the biggest waterfall he had ever seen in his life, reaching the clouds in which they flew through. Angel often wished he had a lover to take inside the mist at the bottom.... But he wanted to see what it was like at the top as well. HE almost frowned as he hit a sudden stretch of flat land.
"Computer on"
A bunch of beeping and buzzing started as he looked at the screen that was showing the codes for proper functioning. He had his computer set on a female voice, "Good morning Captain Sharpe"
"Good morning Cherry" Angel smiled as he looked across the flat land, "Can give me my usual ammo count"
"Ammunition reservoir is at maximum capacity sir"
"That's good" Angel smiled again, looking at the land as he turned, "That's all for now Cherry"
"Hey Angel... I can see them on the far side of the valley" Reilly said as she came up from under him to get on his right flank, "They're waving us down"
"Alpha 1 to D-Company" Angel said circling over them, "Are we ready?"
"About time you Crisis Core guys got here, we've been waiting a whole damn half hour"
"That you Bailey?"
"Angel?" He heard the voice, "No wonder you're late"
"Oh lay off" Angel chuckled, "You guys take it easy, we'll get you there in one piece"
"You better, or I'm gonna drag you to hell with me"
"Eyes, up, low and slow" Angel gave orders, looking around as he kicked his thrusters down to where he was barely keeping in the air while moving forward at the same pace D-Company was walking, "Cherry, keep the radar at full scale and alert me of all signs of Nelons"
"Yes Captain"
"Thank you Cherry"
"You named your Night Raven Cherry?" Bailey's voice was in his ear again.
"Yes" He smiled to himself, "I even tried to paint her red but General Razari threatened to send me back to Earth"
"Oh, poor baby" Bailey laughed, "How well can you fly that thing?"
"You'll find out in a few minutes" Angel said as his radar started beeping.
"Nelon have entered range captain"
"Angel, you won't believe this" He looked closer as Reilly's voice sounded in his ear again, "It looks like they're in Night Ravens"
"I know" He said as he increased the thrusters for combat, "I want the one in the middle, break and take 'em down"
"Yes sir"
"Activate all weapon systems Cherry"
"Weapon systems unlocked, Nano-Artillery canon at full charge"
"Thank you" He rushed forward.
All Night Ravens charged into the team of Nelon styled Night Ravens. It was clear seeing that they were Silver while the real Night Ravens were all black. Angel chased the middle Nelon with a big grin on his face seeing they were also slower which means specs and other mechanical things were the similar but they did not make exact replicas of a Night Raven.
"Shit! I'm hit" Angel looked to his left to see Melony's Raven go down followed by a string of black smoke, "Angel, watch out, he's coming up behind you"
"I got it Melony" He said with a grunt as he suddenly shifted in his seat from the sudden thermal draft that caught him, "You just hold tight when you touch down and I'll come get you when it's over"
"Okay"
Angel pulled the trigger in his right hand. The Jet infront of him exploded when his .50 cal pulse rounds made contact. He pulled up on the steering wheel and dodged a rocket that had been trailing him. He was flying the opposite direction upside down now and flying right at the cockpit of the Nelon that had shot Melony down. His mind gave him the perfect solution as he leaned back, the glasses wrapping around his head with a flashing yellow box.
"Fire" He yelled and with a jet shaking boom, the Nano-Artillery Canon fired. What looked like blue fire was soon eating away at the silver Jet until the nanobites exploded which ended this Nelon's life. He circled around and saw his team fighting off the rest of them. Reilly shot down the last one.
"I'm gonna go get Melony, you guys continue forward, we'll catch up"
"roger"
"Well I guess you're a good fly boy, Angel" Bailey laughed into his ear, "You should come visit sometime"
"I'll try" He said to her as he felt his head start throbbing, " Later, Cherry, locate Melony"
"North 40, East 80"
"Thank you"

Angel brought the Raven to a stop in the hangar and opened the pilot seat before letting Melony Climb out from his lap.

Fur/Hair: White Species: Wolf Hybrid
Melony was one of the many first to be put into the military at a young age. She was a test subject for cyborg technology and her left arm could turn into a pulse canon just as fast as it takes to draw a pistol. She was put on Angel's Team three months after Angel became the leader.
"So Melony" Angel jumped down. Landing beside her, "How'd that fighter manage to tag you?"
"I don't know" She said, "One minute I'm behind him and the next he's behind me and I I lost the main thruster"
""Alright" He said looking at her, "If we don't have anything to do tonight, I'm scheduling you for some time in the simulator room.
"Okay" She said looking back at him.
"I'll go handle debriefing you guys rest" Angel said as he reached and pressed the button on his watch again, "This Skill armor eventually starts burning your skin... or at least it feels like it"
He started walking to the elevator as everyone grouped up at the usual rest and relax spot in the hangar. He was always to serious to do anything like that. His favorite thing to do was snipe down enemy targets from two miles away. He didn't do anything else... he was a soldier and that was it. He walked down the hallway, exchanging the few hellos that he usually expected for nothing. It was probably because of his old self had died with his brother.HE walked into the meeting room and sat down.
"Where's your team Captain?" General Razari asked as she appeared on screen.
"I told them to go relax for a little bit" He said with a smile, "It wasn't as easy as last time. They have started copying our Night Ravens, they're almost fast enough top rival the real things.... They even shot down Melony"
"Did she survive?"
"Yes, I got her from the crash after we finished taking the Nelons out and my team continued to escort on their own until I caught up with Melony" He looked at her with hard eyes, "But we got D-Compoany to the base, we didn't like what we saw there but they'll only be there for a few days before they come over here to homestead for a few weeks"
"Good work" She said looking back at him with equally hard eyes, "Some untested gear should have arrived while you were gone as well as Alex's sister. Tonight you to run her through the training course so she knows what to do incase she's needed as a fighter or if she has to go out into the field. During this time, you'll test some of the new equipment"
"Yes ma'am" He said, standing and saluting.
"Until next time Captain"
"I'll be waiting General"
The connection cut off. Angel; began walking out and decided he might finally try to eat and went to the mess hall. The team had already beaten him there and started eating dinner. Alex was there except separate and eating with another Tiger Hybrid. He assumed it was Alex's sister. He grabbed some food and walked over to them and sat down next to Alex.
"So how bad was Melony's Raven Wrecked?"
"Beyond repair" He said, "That's okay, we should have two coming in before the next mission"
"That's good" She smiled, "This is my sister Rachel"
"Nice to finally meet you Rachel" Angel smiled holding out his hand, "Captain Angel Sharpe"
Instead of shaking his hand like most of his team knew to, she got to her feet fast and saluted him, "Rachel Ross, Chief Medical"
"Sit your ass down and relax Rachel" Angel smiled, "All you have to do is follow orders, you don't have to be formal"
"And never call him by his rank" Alex through in.
"You'll have to go through a small training regime under the General's orders but for the most part you'll be leading the Medical; unit here in the Crisis Core"
"When?" She asked looking at him with a strange shyness in her eyes.
"I'll be waiting in the training room around 1800" He said, looking at Alex, "You wanna come and help her cause I also have to test some new equipment"
"Definitely" She smiled.
He finished his food and left to find Reilly and Melony. Reilly was supposed to work the simulator with Melony.
