Here is the long awaited 10th Chapter, hope you guys like it.

Slave Hunter, Chapter Ten.

Written by Wolfie Steel.

I pull up outside the glamorous looking home of Mr. Reams, he has the whole nine yards, electric gates, Rolls Royce parked on the drive, and an ornamental water fountain in the centre of the driveway. So far he has the hallmarks of a well-to-do kind of guy, which really does beg the question, why does he show interest in the asshole that we have in custody?

Matt Wolf and I get out of the car and walk towards the gates, there is an intercom entry system and I press the call button, seconds later there is a smart sounding voice heard.

"I don't want any bible bashers, I don't need my house roof repairing or windows replacing, so if you are any of those guys you may as well leave"

I turn to Matt.

"Well he sure is a charmer I'll give him that"

Both Matt and I get our warrant cards from our jacket pockets and hold them up in view of the security camera.

"Excuse me sir but we are from Scotland Yard, I am Detective Daniel Hunter, and my colleague is Sergeant Matthew Wolf, we were wondering if you might spare us a few moments of your time to help us with our enquiries?"

The voice on the other end suddenly becomes more cooperative.

"Of course gentlemen, I will just open the gate for you"

One of the electric gates opens just enough to allow myself and Matt Wolf to walk through; we arrive at the now open front door and make our way inside, this guy sure has no need for money if the opulence inside the house is anything to go by.

Suddenly we are greeted by a smart suited young Doberman with an outstretched paw.

"My name is Jordan Reams, now what is it that I can do for New Scotland Yard?"

I step back a little and Matt takes the hint and begins to ask the questions.

"First of all sir, thank you for your time and for helping us with our enquiries, now I am sure that a well informed fur such as yourself has heard of the raid upon the Bo Jangles Night Club?"

The Doberman nods his head.

"Ah yes, indeed I have, a thoroughly distasteful turn of events, but I fail to see why you are asking me about it"

Strike one, it is now my turn.

"Begging your pardon Sir, but do you know or have any associations with a fur by the name of Caine Travis?"

The Doberman now gives us what I consider to be a fake confused look, strike two.

"The name does not ring any bells with me I'm afraid, and so I am sorry but I can't help you"

Both myself and Sergeant Wolf notice the nervousness now entering the Doberman's voice, strike three, Sergeant Wolf now goes in for the kill.

"So Mr. Reams, you claim to have no knowledge of Mr. Caine Travis, and yet you visited him in our holding cells, and sir please don't say that it wasn't you because we have CCTV footage of your visit"

The Doberman now becomes incredibly defensive.

"I'm sorry Sergeant Wolf, but I don't like your tone, and so I will ask you to both leave"

I let out a fake displeased sigh towards Matt Wolf, but we both head out from the house and begin our journey back to the car, Matt Wolf looks at me and hangs his head slightly.

"Sorry Detective Hunter, I shouldn't have gone in so strong"

I put a paw on the Dalmatian's shoulder.

"That sigh I let out back there was for show, you did an incredible job in there, and I think that we have now got our Mr. Reams worried, now it is such a pity that the Captains car has developed a sudden breakdown, because now it means that we have to stay parked outside this house"

At first Matt Wolf looks at me all confused and then the penny finally drops.

"Yeah you're right what a pity indeed, and wouldn't it be weird if the breakdown suddenly fixed itself once a certain Doberman makes his move?"

I giggle a little.

"Sergeant Wolf, it seems that I have corrupted your mind, you are starting to think like me, and may god have mercy on your soul"

We both get into the car and wait. After a two hour wait I am just about to call it quits when the Rolls Royce drives out through the electric gates, I start the car and follow at a discreet distance, we drive for about forty-five minutes and then the Rolls Royce pulls into the driveway of someone that I know all too well, it belongs to the home of a Horse by the name of Craig Danford, a partner in a firm of lawyers, Danford, Dunhelm and Smith.

"Okay Sergeant Wolf, here is a pop quiz for you, if our friend Mr. Reams has nothing to hide why has he just pulled into the driveway of a lawyer?"

The Dalmatian smiles and scratches his chin thoughtfully.

"I would wager Detective Hunter that Mr. Reams is in this mess up to his highly polished flying lady bonnet ornament"

I couldn't agree more and so I turn the car around and head back to the office, once we arrive back at the office both Matt Wolf and I head for Brandon's office, I knock on the door and wait to be allowed in.

I hear the phone receiver as it is replaced on its base and then Brandon calls us in, I open the door and we both enter to find a smiling Rottweiler.

"Okay Sergeant Wolf, I have just been on the phone to a lawyer by the name of Craig Danford, he has called me on behalf of his client, Mr. Jordan Reams, to complain about your use of threatening behaviour while you were and I quote, interrogating the Doberman"

I shake my head no.

"Captain James, remember I was there the whole time, all either of us did was ask polite questions, so the fact that Mr. Reams has sought the address of a known layer tells me that he knows more about the Bo Jangles operation than he is letting on"

Brandon chuckles a little.

"Why do you think I am smiling Detective Hunter? I have been in this job long enough to know what is going on, you two have pressed the right buttons and it has made our Mr. Reams twitchy, now the lawyer has advised us to let things drop, in other words he is telling us to back off, but I don't do so well with advice like that, and so I think that with the nervousness of Mr. Reams coupled with the CCTV image of him visiting the prisoner, will be enough to gain a warrant for his detention, you know to help us with our enquiries on a deeper level, now, you two go grab something to eat and drink from the cafe and I will see about obtaining the warrant"

Both Matt and I head out from the office and towards the cafe across the street, we are both grinning from ear to ear, in fact I am feeling so pleased with the way things have gone that I even pay for the food and drink in the cafe, which as any of the other guys will tell you is practically unheard of.

We finish eating and drinking and then head back to our shared office; we both begin to catch up on some of our mundane paperwork. The office intercom activates.

"Hunter and Wolf, can you come to my office please?"

We both dutifully head to Brandon's office; the door is open so we both enter.

"Okay, fortunately Judge Allans was of the same view with regard to the evidence that we have in respect of Mr. Reams and so he has granted us a warrant to bring him in for further questioning, he has said, however, that because this case is quite an emotive one, we are to tread very carefully, make Mr. Reams aware that he is only helping us further with our enquiries and give him the chance to call his lawyer should he feel the need. Take my car again as I don't think it would be very professional to try and bring the Doberman to the station in the back of your Mustang"

I nod gently and take the keys from Brandon's outstretched paw. With traffic being a little heavy it is an hour and a half before we arrive at the address of Mr. Reams, it seems that he is back at home and under the impression that he has seen the last of us. We are about to show him the error of his ways.

We walk up to the entry system and I press the button once more, the Doberman growls and then answers.

"I thought my lawyer told you two assholes to back off?"

I laugh a little at his use of language.

"Oh he did Mr. Reams, but you see we are now here officially, we have a warrant for your detention so that you can help us further with our enquiries"

Suddenly the electric gates open and we begin to walk towards the front door, this time it is closed and so I pound on the door. The door opens and reveals a Doberman bearing his teeth; he calms down a little and allows us entry.

"What gives you the right to come and harass me again?"

I take the warrant out of my jacket pocket and open it out, I then turn it so that he can read it.

"This is a warrant for your detention Mr. Reams; it seems that the answers that you gave us on our previous chat did not add up, so now we would like to clarify those answers down at the station. Because this interview will be recorded I am obliged to tell you that you can have a lawyer present during your interview, and because we know who your lawyer is I suggest that it might be prudent to give him a ring"

The Doberman's head drops in defeat.

"Fine I will go and call my lawyer, but my phone is in the back room"

Well of course I wasn't going to fall for that old trick.

"That's fine Mr. Reams; I will send Sergeant Wolf with you just to make sure nothing untoward happens"

The two dogs head off towards the back room; it seems, however, that Mr. Reams had something of a present waiting for Matt as seconds later I hear a dull thud and Matt Wolf's pained scream. I run into the back room and find Matt Wolf on the floor and clutching his already injured arm, there is a baseball bat lying next to him, but no sign of the Doberman.

I kneel down beside Matt and I take out my cell phone and make two calls, one for an ambulance and the other to Brandon.

"Hi Captain, I need an APB put out on Mr. Jordan Reams, he has just resisted detention and has also attacked and injured Matt Wolf"

I hear Brandon growl on the other end of the phone.

"Fine I will make sure that Mr. Reams is found and arrested, how is Matt?"

I look down at the now unconscious Dalmatian.

"Captain, that bastard hit Matt's injured arm hard with a baseball bat, Matt is now unconscious but I have called an ambulance"

I hear the sound of what I can only guess is Brandon thumping his desk with his balled up fist.

"Leave Reams to me, just stay with Matt and then go with him to the hospital, I swear on my life that Reams will pay dearly for attacking a police officer"

I end the call because I can hear the sounds of the ambulance siren as it gets closer. I know that Brandon has told me to leave Reams to him, but I just hope and pray that I don't catch up with him first, because otherwise it will be me that is arrested for murder.
