#3 of Project FoxTail

Part 1 of chapter 1

FoxTail never told other people his real name, not because he was ashamed of it but because he liked the nickname given to him after he started maturing at the late age of 17.

His fangs grew out and he gained super strength like his father and mobility like his mother, this happened for him during and after his years at Cryptic High, a human school in Cryptic City.

Once his tail grew out it looked like a fox; so people started to call him Foxtail, he liked the nickname and it stuck.

The elders believed that the cause for the late growth was due to his blood, very few beasts had two different bloods that mixed as flawless as his, mixed creatures usually either gain powers from one parent or the other.

Soon a meeting was being held inside of the elders' chamber, a mostly empty room with seven thrones at the end where the elders sat, the wise elder sat in the middle with three elders sitting to his right and another three to his left. The seats on the right were for the 'head elders', also known as the wise elder's right hand.

With FoxTail finally gaining his powers there was talk between the elders about him taking his late father's place as the clan's leader; not all of the elders thought it was a good idea, especially elder Grom.

Grom was the clan's head warrior elder; he was also the mentor of FoxTail's father. Grom is a gray wolf beast with some black fur and red eyes, he stood at six foot and weighed around one hundred fifty seven pounds; he also had a small piece of his top left ear missing from earlier in his youth.

Grom felt that FoxTail had passed the point in his life when he could claim the rights to become the clan's leader.

Kanol (Ka-no-el), the head hunter elder, disagreed with Grom and thought that it would be fair to at least train FoxTail like the other beasts in the clan.

Kanol was a patient and, for the most part, silent gray wolf; he had red and gray fur and yellow eyes, he stood at five foot three and one hundred ten pounds.

Grom didn't even look at Kanol.

"It doesn't make any sense for us to have this discussion! I trained his father since he was able to hunt; I thought the boy had a birth problem then and I think it's a birth problem now."

Naomi, the head caretaker elder; wasn't the type to blow up, she was always a calm and collected coyote beast; she was the same height and weight as Kanol only she had brown fur and eyes.

"I can tell you right now Grom," she said calmly_, "this is not something we can call a defect."_

Grom looked over and his eyes met with hers.

"If it's not a defect than what is it, I'm no medical expert and seeing as you're the head caretaker elder could you possibly explain it to me, Naomi?"

Naomi paused, never taking her eyes off Grom, he knew she couldn't explain the late maturing FoxTail was going through.

"No, I'm afraid I cannot, this is a mystery to me as well. I'm not sure what to make of this rare growth event but, I'm very confident that it's not a birth defect. "

Tonya, the warrior elder, decided to stand and speak.

"If the boy's mother thinks it's a good idea than I say let them do as they please, I don't see the problem Grom."

Tonya was a red fox beast from the United Kingdom; she left after losing her brother, he was the only family member she had left in her clan. She had light red-brown fur and bright yellow eyes; she stood at only four foot, which was short even by fox standards.

As usual Grom had something to say, it seemed like it was just in his nature to object the ideas of others.

"Are you going to sit there and tell me that this boy is ready to take his father's place? I'm sure we're all aware of how attached he has become to those humans, he wasn't raised like the others and I say we choose one of his brothers, Marrok is a fitting candidate."

That set the whole room into a flurry of disagreements; Vornax, the wise elder, had heard enough.

"Let's give the boy a chance; with some harsh training I'm sure he will be ready to take his father's place in no time. We'll create a special team to watch and train him, are there any objections?"

The room fell silent, even Grom didn't argue with Vornax_._

Vornax was a very intimidating looking wolf beast; he was built like a bull, stood at seven foot three and was at least fifty pounds heavier than Grom. Out of the seven elders Vornax was the oldest and the strongest.

"Very well, we agree that the boy will be given harsh and strict training; afterwards we will test him to see if he will take his rightful place or if he'll be overlooked and replaced by his brother."

After the ruling was given the elders began to disperse, Grom decided to question Vornax's convictions towards FoxTail to him directly.

"Vornax, you know I have great respect for you and your leadership ability, but I'm very concerned about your decision and why you made it."

FoxTail Prologue

FoxTail never really figured out where he belonged, at birth he looked like a normal healthy brown eyed human baby with black hair, he had no fangs or a tail and eventually went to human schools. His father, Zalphine (Zal-fe-en), was a full blooded...
