Pure of Heart
Prologue
There was once a time when humanity ruled the world, when the Earth was wrought with disease and rotting away slowly. But then the end of the human species started, their demise was decided and once it began it fell into place very quickly. It started with earthquakes, over a time of 15 years, a series of huge earthquakes rocked the seven continents until fear spread in such mass amounts that all the humans were desperately looking to their leaders for answers.
Eventually at the end of the sixteenth year the continents had crashed into each other because of the seismic activity. Boundaries that had always been forced because of the waters in between the continents were no longer there. Humans were crossing into each others' territory and it was rarely on friendly terms. A battle a size the world had never seen began to happen. No one was allied with anyone, it was a free-for-all. So much death happened within such a short time, it was easy for the Shifters to come out of the shadows and take control.
Shifters, a species which had evolved from humanity long ago, have always been in the darkness waiting for the death of the human race so that they could take over and correct what the weaker race had done. So, with revenge clearly carved into their hearts, revenge for the poisoned Earth, the Shifters began to cull the rest of the humans until none were left.
Just because the Shifters are more understanding of the Earth and Her needs does not mean they do not come with their own prejudices. There is a huge rift between the two types of Shifters that exist. The Pure-bloods, which are Shifters whose animal form which look purely like a giant form of their animal cousin; and the Tainteds, which are Shifters that have a anthropomorphic animal form; are two types that exist in the new world.
The Tainteds are enslaved to the Pure-bloods as it has been for five years since the death of humanity. However, a rebellion has started against this enslavement, and the very Alpha of the Tainteds has gone on a covert operation to stop the slavery of her people.
