#1 of Gemini - Book 1

The first part of an action packed story around the life of Clover

I don't own my little pony, all characters belong to them

The sun had started to rise in the small town of Ponieville, the birds were singing their merry tunes, the clopping of hooves could be heard outside and the ponies were chatting away about their lives. "Brrrinnng", the alarm clock screeched.

"Huh, what. AHHHH!" clover wailed just as loud as his disturbance as he fell and flailed on the floor, yet the clock continued without fault.

Slowly, agonisingly so, clover picked himself off the floor and turned the clock off, "(Yawn) Time to get ready for work I suppose."

Clover, or Clumsy Clover as he was called by his parents, stood in front of the mirror as he did up his collar and straightened his tie. Clover was an earthy-brown colt with a hazel mane and tail and adorning his flank was four leaf clover cutie mark, to this day he still does not know how he got it, perhaps it's a prank of the gods considering how unlucky he was.

As he walked into the stationary and furniture filled store and signed in he thought how easy unicorns have it when it comes to writing. The day continued on as it started slow-paced and normal until his favourite customer came into the store, Spike the Dragon.

"Hey spike, let me guess quills, same as usual." Clover greeted as went round the back to get the box he had already prepared "Umm, you know, we do have some really good deals on sofas going on. Are you sure you wouldn't want one this time?" he joked, knowing to well Spike wouldn't.

"No, not this time." Spike snorted, "Oh! Did you hear about the comets tonight?" Clover responded with a quizzical look as he sat the box of quills down. "No, oh well it's just that Twilight keeps going on about it and how me and the girls are gonna' go see it, and I wondered if you wanted to come."

"It doesn't sound like it's my sort of thing, sorry. I think I'm just going to go home and have an early night." he said as he accepted the dragon's bits.

"Well, umm, O.K. I guess I'll be seeing you then." said an almost downtrodden spike which left Clover with plenty of questions, which he did not fell like getting the answers to right now.

The rest of the day continued as a slow blur for Clover until he decided to close the shop as all the quills were gone, however he was able to get rid of one red sofa to a purpled haired fashonista and two oddly shaped chairs to a mint green pony, things were looking up.

As clover was headed home he saw Spike, twilight, the pony who he sold the sofa to and four other ponies he didn't recognise but he just figured those were the girls spike was talking about. He continued on a little further and reached his house "(Yawn) I can't wait to have a nice relaxing shower" he groaned to himself as he got inside and dropped his collar and tie to the floor.

A cloud of vapour and steam flooded out of the bathroom as clover trotted out across the hall and into his bed-room, ready to start this routine all over again as he clambered into his bed.

"BOOM" The room shook. Clover leapt out of bed and ran out of his house to check on what caused the commotion. What he saw was a fairly large, smouldering rock that appeared to be leaking a black oily substance. Shocked and confused, Clover was at a loss of what to do, should he find some pony? Who? Another pony that doesn't know what to do? His thought process was put on hold as he realised that the black oily liquid had stopped pouring out of the rock but was still moving, towards him. He was frozen with fear, he wanted to speak, to yell, to cry but all that came out were little raged pitiful whimpers. It lunged.

Now he was crying, now he was wailing; now he was screaming, as blackness enveloped his view and pain screeched and clawed at his brain. He could feel his legs snap, twist and contort. He could feel his back break and reform. Then it stopped.

He awoke the next morning to the ringing of his clock, he felt fine, no, he felt better than yesterday, or any other day for that matter. He leaned over to stop the ringing from the clock but it was replaced with an entirely different noise that only lasted for a few seconds, the sound of metal crunching. Quickly, he got up and saw that he had indeed crushed the clock with his bare hoof. A loud and aggressive knock at the door roused him from his thoughts, but the voice that followed was worse "Open up. It's the Royal Guard."

"Did I do something wrong, what could I have possibly done..." suddenly he remembered last night's incident with the terror and pain all flooding back. "D...Did that actually happen last night? No, no if that did happen how did I end up back in bed?" he was interrupted once more by another set of knocks this time more aggressive.

Clover opened the door to find two of Celestia's Royal Guards waiting outside with stern looks plastered over their faces. "Good morning sirs, what seems to be the problem?" he graciously asked the knights.

"Sir, there appears to be a meteor in your back-yard and we are here to inform you that a specialist team will be sent here to collect said meteor and search the area, we advise that you should leave the premises for your own safety until we are finished." One of the knights replied with a clear lack of emotion.

"And when would that be?" clover asked as politely as he could at that point.

"If there are no problems the team should be done at 5pm" the other guard replied with the same lack of emotion.
