The wolf king
#1 of the wolf king
So i was trying to think of a knew story and this originally started out as an assignment for my professor. He wanted a mythological story with a creature able to control an element. So i have changed it. Here is the fun part, well for me at least. Cedric is not sure of his sexuality. He will have to choose between a male that you have already read about, or a female who you will meat. I will let everyone know when its time but you will have to tell me who Cedric should be with. The Person who you all like most will be Cedrics mate.
A young man with black hair, and purple eyes walked out of the pub. His clothing was that of a peasant, with a red shirt that looked like it needed to be cleaned and a pair of tan cloth pants with no pockets. Yet the teen seemed to be well built, and he looked fit enough to be able to hold his own in a fight. Cedric sighed and looked around; torches lit the cobble stone streets with the occasional guard, spear in hand, looking down alley ways. He had left the pub because his stepfather had gotten drunk and started yet another fight. The guards were most likely going to break it up soon, but Cedric wanted no part in his stepfathers' punishment. In fact, he was seriously contemplating just leaving. He sighed and began to walk down the stone road; he looked up in the sky and saw the one sight that always made him cringe. The full moon was bright in the sky, its milky white light washing over his skin and making it tingle.
He was so transfixed by the beauty of the moon that he didn't realize he had entered the darkling woods, just outside the town. He was already out of the guards' sight, and since they were patrolling the wall they wouldn't come looking for him. The only thing that drew Cedric's attention away from the moon was when branches started to cover his view. Cedric stopped and looked around. The woods were dark and eerie. The very leaves themselves seemed to radiate a sense of abnormality. When he turned around he realized, that he couldn't see the path on which he had entered the woods! Seeing no other way out, Cedric decided to keep going down the route his mind had designated for him. As he walked, the sense of fear began to fade, only to be replaced by something Cedric couldn't understand. The woods made him feel almost at home. Cedric soon emerged into a clearing, and once more his eyes made their way to the sight of the full moon.
He wasn't sure how long he had been staring, but the next thing Cedric knew he was on the ground. He coughed and quickly pushed up expecting to feel someone on top of him, but to his shock there was nothing. He got up, brushing himself off, and looked around. At first he couldn't see anything. Just as he was about to turn around and go back the way he had come a pair of gold eyes caught his attention. Cedric focused on them and slowly, despite what his instincts told him, Cedric began to inch closer. It felt like an eternity before he reached the eyes, but when he did a deep voice rumbled, "You are the last pure blood." Cedric froze, and in a timid voice replied, "wh-what... who are you?" The voice did not reply at first, but in a much deeper baritone it said, "you are the last descendent of the great family of alpha's, the one made to lead the Wolves to victory." Then a sword about 6 feet long, decorated in jewels, with a wolf made of marble engraved on the pommel, landed at Cedric's feet. This was quickly followed by a ring, which seemed to be completely black, with a purple wolf eye on the center of the outer ring. "These are yours now. When you pick up the sword and put on the ring everything will become clear. When the change is complete I shall return." Before any questions could be asked, the eyes disappeared and Cedric was alone.
Cedric sat there frozen as his brain tried to process what he had just heard. After a while he looked down at the sword and ring. He became fascinated with the sword and began studying it. As Cedric looked he noticed that the sword, despite its size, was only made to be wielded with one hand and not two. 'Who could possibly be this large, and have such strength?' Cedric thought; 'and what did he mean by "the change"?' Sighing, Cedric bent down a picked up the ring. He shivered as the cold surface touched his bare skin. Cedric quickly noticed that the ring was not made from any medal he was familiar with.
Slowly he slid the ring onto his middle finger. Once the ring was in place, with the purple wolf eye facing the sky, he felt his skin begin to tingle. He quickly tried pulling the ring off, but no matter what he tried, the ring wouldn't come off. He even resorted to biting the ring, but it just wouldn't budge; he couldn't even turn the ring after having spit on it.
Cedric began to calm down and took a few deep breaths. His chest was rising and falling. Then he felt a presence in the back of his mind telling him to pick up the sword. Bending down, he gripped the sword with his right hand, but when he tried to lift it he noticed that the sword was extremely heavy, and he couldn't even lift the blade.
Cedric gripped the sword with both hands, and with a deep breath, he heaved the blade off the ground. The moment the sword tip left the ground, he felt his whole body go limp, and he fell backward, landing with a thud.
Cedric blinked and looked up. His eyes fell on the sight of the full moon. The orb looming over him as its white light washed over his body, making it tingle. Suddenly his vision went black, and memories started to flow into his mind. Memories of those who where long gone. Of a hidden kingdom that mortals did not know even existed, and a war that was still raging. Most of all, he learned that he was the last descendant of a line of pure blood werewolves, and that he alone had the power to control all six elements; light, fire, water, earth, air, and the element he himself was linked to through mind and spirit, the element of darkness. He would learn to harness this power, and he would lead the werewolves in the ongoing war against the vampires. He was the alpha, the king this was his destiny, his purpose in life; and the reason why he had never met his real parents.
Suddenly the light of the moon broke through and Cedric could see again. He was standing know, starring up at the moon. When he looked down, he realized that he was at least 14 feet tall now. His muscles had grown, and he had black fur all over his body. What caught his attention the most was that when he stared down, he could see he had a wolf muzzle. Cedric felt something tap his leg, but when he turned around, there was nothing. He felt it again and this time just looked back and saw a tail! When looked down at his feet and saw paws, his hands were paws as well, or at least a mix of paws and hands. His fur was not just black, but blacker than the darkest night; and when he looked down at his right hand/paw, the ring had grown to fit the transformation, and he was now holding the sword which weighed almost nothing in one hand. "How is this possible?" Cedric said in a deep voice. "You are the alpha now. This is your birth right, and you alone shall lead us to victory." Cedric whipped around, not even realizing he had brought the sword into a defensive position. Standing in the middle of the clearing was another werewolf; he had brown fur and gold eyes, but he was around 15 feet tall.
"If you want all your questions answered, you will follow me and start your new life... There is no going back know." With that, the other wolf took off into the woods. At first Cedric wondered, how he was supposed to follow, or even if he should follow, but he then smelled the other wolfs scent hanging in the air and without a second thought he began to follow.
He looked down at the sword in his hand as he ran through the woods. The wind whipping through his fur, and for a moment, caught the sight of his face on the blade. It was the face of a wolf with purple eyes, the same eyes as the one on the ring.

Cedric doubled over, his right arm was dislocated, and he had a cut on his forehead that kept dripping blood into his eyes. "How many times must I do this?" The deep snarl from Cedric's right. Cedric turned to look up at Red he was happy Red wasn't the werewolf who found him in the woods. Reds claw on middle finger, on his right hand/paw was dripping blood. Red had a small grin in his snarl like he enjoyed what he had done.
"Get up and try again!" Red barked. "Or will we have to go through this" he gestured at Cedric lying on the ground bleeding, "again?" With a grunt Cedric climbed to his paws, and took up a stance with his left foot in front of his right, and his legs shoulder width apart. With this done Cedric took in a deep breath and concentrated. He began to search for something in him, something that he didn't even know anything about or let alone what it felt like. All he knows is that according to Red he will 'know it when he finds it.'
As Cedric searched within himself he began to realize that he could hear Red breathing. As if the wolf was standing right next to him, with his mouth against his ear. He opened his eyes and saw Red standing right where he had been before. As Cedric began to ponder what had just happened Red stepped forward with a snarl and said, "Why have you stopped?! Keep going!" Cedric quickly tried to regain his focus but just as he closed his eyes he heard a loud snap. Cedric let out a yelp as his dislocated shoulder popped back into place, and the tissue around it healed. His ability to regenerate was helpful for things like small cuts, but anything bigger than that and it would hurt to heal.
"Please if that hurt than what I will do if you don't concentrate will make that feel like a pinch, back to work!" At this snide comment from Red, Cedric quickly stood up casting the smaller wolf a glare and focused once again. As he tried to concentrate Cedric's mind began to drift over the many things that had happened to him since he had changed. He recalled meeting the strange werewolf in the woods, changing into an alpha werewolf, and not just any alpha. The alpha, whom had to lead werewolves in a war against vampires.
He remembered how he had followed the mysterious wolf through the woods, how he had learned along the way. A found out the mysterious wolfs name was Aiden, and that Aiden was a kind of adviser to the king.
Cedric's thoughts brought him back the memory of Aiden showing him how to access the strength of the werewolf, and how to use that to get to the great werewolf city hidden under the Serain mountain range. The way to the city was treacherous, having to jump gaps that are at times 50 feet across. At other points Cedric would have to drop a few hundred feet before landing and continuing on the path, all the while following Aiden and his instructions. When they finally reached the city Red was waiting for them at the gates. Aiden introduced Red as his trainer, before explaining that Red would show him how to control all the powers he could wield including the power of the six elements; and that Red was apparently the only werewolf alive who knew how to train an alpha to control the elements.
All this went through Cedric's mind, including the thought that he only tolerated Red for the fact that he was the only one who could teach him. Than Cedric realized that other than that he didn't know anything about Red. In fact no one seemed to know anything about him. Why was that? Was everyone just...
Before he could even finish the thought Cedric doubled over in pain, a bright red flashed across his vision as he fell to his knees. "This is what happens when you lose concentration." Red stated walking out from behind Cedric. "If this was a real fight you would have been dead already. How are you going to protect the werewolf species from the miserable vampires, if you can't even keep your own head?" Red looked down at Cedric as if he was waiting for an answer. Then he sighed bent down and lifted Cedric up. "Let's get you to your chambers; you have had enough training for today."
As Red escorted Cedric through the castle, every so often Red would quickly move forward and check behind corners, and statues, and other things of the like. This seemed odd to Cedric because as he reflected on his day everything seemed to have been out of place. He hadn't seen Aiden at all, which was very unusual because he was normally right by his side. 'What's going on?' Cedric thought. Even Red seemed a little odd today. The sudden mood change at the end of training was definitely abnormal. 'Then again what about Red is normal?' he thought.
Having had been lost in thought, Cedric hadn't realized that they had reached is chambers. The only thing that brought him out of it was when Red said, "Where do think you're going?" He sounded rather cross, and it was only then that Cedric realized he had kept walking past his room and a few feet down the never ending maze of hallways. "Sorry" he said, "I was lost in thought." "Well don't let it happen again!" Red snapped, making Cedric cringe like a child be yelled at by his father. Red walked over and said, "Now get into your room and get some rest, we have a long day ahead of us." Before Cedric could say anything else Red had turned around and walked off.
Opening the door Cedric glanced around his room. It looked like a busy amount of people had been walking around. The room itself looked different. The walls color had been changed from grey, to a night black. All the furnisher was new as well it was all the same, even in the same area the only difference was that it was black. Even the bed was black as well as the sheets. As he walked closer Cedric realized all the fabrics had been outlined with royal purple stitching of wolf eyes.
Cedric sighed, Aiden had explained that all alphas could control the elements, but each was linked to a specific one. When Cedric had questioned how they knew his element before he could control them, the answer he got back was simply the ring he had been given. Whenever and knew alpha has taken the throne the rings base color changes to the color of the new alphas element. The wolf eyes on the ring would also change to meet the color that would complement the elemental color best. In Cedric's case the color black stood for the element of darkness, and the royal purple was the color that best complement his element.
According to Aiden the alpha's room would be redesigned so that the alpha would be with his element at all times. When Cedric looked around his room something accord to him, there was no source of light anywhere! He was able to see in complete darkness as if it was the middle of the day. Looking around Cedric found a torch and lit it. The moment that the fire started to illuminate the room though Cedric yelped and dropped the torch causing it to go out. Cedric quickly brought his hands up to his eyes and started to rub them. As he did this he could hear a few sets of paws running down the hall to his room.
Cedric was still rubbing his eyes when the door burst open and someone stepped in. When he tried to open his eyes to see who it was he immediately closed them again with a small whimper, as the lights from there torches hit him. "What are doing put those out right this instant!" The voice sounded familiar but Cedric couldn't place it. "Can't you see your hurting your king?" "W-what? I am sorry my lord, please forgive me!?" That sounded like a guard, and hearing a small sizzle from the torch Cedric felt it was safe to open his eyes. As he opened them Cedric saw his guards', but he still couldn't see the other wolf because he was standing in the door way illuminated by light.
"My king, are you well?" Cedric cringed as he heard himself be referred to as king. He hated the title, he had told them countless times to just call him Cedric. "Yes I am Auren, and please just call me Cedric." He addressed the guard who was standing farthest from the door. Auren ears pinned against his head, "sorry." Cedric just nodded and turned to the second guard and said, "That goes for you as well Skijorn." The wolf nodded, and Cedric turned his attention to the wolf in the door way. As he was doing this Cedric lifted his right hand in front of his eyes blocking the light from reaching them. "Are you all alright Cedric?" It was the familiar voice again, but this time Cedric knew who it was. There was only one person in the whole of Bain Blade city who he had managed to get to call him by his name. "Yes Aiden I am fine, the light just hurt my eyes." "Well that's to be expected at the moment you are in your element, so the light intruding in would cause some discomfort." Cedric heard some rustling and clinking of swords and armor. Then he heard the sound of the door closing. When he lowered his hand his guards were gone yet Aiden remained.
As Cedric stared at Aiden he was reminded that he had not seen the wolf at all that day. As he opened his mouth to pose the question, Aiden beat him to it. "So I suppose you noticed my leave of absence throughout the day?" Cedric paused, a little taken aback with how Aiden knew what he was going to say. He knew he should have gotten used to it by know, as the wolf could always guess what he was thinking. Cedric just nodded, but Aiden's head was cocked to the side as if waiting for his answer. Then Cedric realized that Aiden couldn't see him. "Yes that was exactly what I was going to ask... How do you always know what I am going to say?" He saw Aiden smile, "Well to answer your second question I just figured you noticed me being away. As for the first, I was busy taking care of some affairs going on here in the city." Cedric paused for a moment than asked, "Why was I not informed of the problem?"
The question seemed to make Aiden pause and look past Cedric as if looking for something. Then he took a deep breath in and said, "Cedric I had promised your father, the alpha before you that when I felt you were ready. Than I would let you take on the full responsibility's of being the alpha." Cedric had planned on telling Aiden that it was alright, but this made him freeze. A hundred thoughts rushed through his head at once, 'Aiden new my father? Why didn't he tell me? What other responsibility could he have?' As Cedric's internal storm raged he failed to notice Aiden had stepped forward and was know bowing.
"My lord you must understand that I had sworn a solemn oath to not tell you until you were of age." What Aiden had just said allowed Cedric to voice one of his many questions. "You knew my father?"
