#5 of One Hell of a Night

Six months. That's what the website claims has been the downtime since I uploaded the last chapter of this that I wrote. In fact, I had Chapter 5 prepared and ready about a week after that, but I really didn't feel like putting it up anywhere. I felt like I was writing more for myself than for anyone else. This is still the case, but I figured that there are a few people out and about who would like to see where this story goes, and it's really not that much effort just to put these next three chapters up (five, six and seven) and satisfy some curiosities. So here we go. This chapter and the next one are about 5k words each, which was my normal stopping point, but the seventh chapter got a little out of hand and ended up at around 17k. So look forward to that, since there's BDSM.

As ever, apologies if I've overlooked some errors in the text. I did read it about five times in the space of the last few months, but anyone can make mistakes.

One Hell of a Night - Chapter 5

When I'd entered the living room, I noticed that Layla had unceremoniously tossed her backpack near the couch and taken seat there with her feet out on the coffee table. At least she'd had the mind to take her boots off.

I wasn't sure where to go exactly; I didn't want to get near Layla without Nina being nearby, and I had no idea where she'd wandered off to. I was about go and look for her when she padded out of the gym room and to the couch, standing behind it and over Layla for a moment. She leaned down low, exposing a bit of cleavage which Layla grinned at.

"Really nice, those girls. Gotta let me play with 'em sometime." She winked.

Nina kept up her cool smile as she snaked one big arm around Layla's neck and put her in a choke hold, but apparently without applying any pressure. Layla didn't react, but started to listen carefully.

"You see that man over there?" Nina nodded towards me. Layla looked over, then back at Nina.

"Ayuh."

"You know who he belongs to?"

"You?"

"That's right. He's mine. Every last part of him is mine, down to and including his ass. So, I will only ask you kindly once-" I heard the leather scrunch as Nina tightened her grip. "-please do not make him feel uncomfortable or threaten him with your antics. Else, no amount of Marine training is going to stop me from choking a bitch and tearing her a new one. We clear?"

"Crystal." Layla gulped.

"Wonderful." Nina immediately let go and shot me a wink.

"Can I ask what that was about?" The Dragoness rubbed at her neck, slightly confused.

"I saw you grabbing Silas' ass. That's my territory, and I don't like it when people trespass."

"Oh." Layla frowned. She glanced at me. "Sorry, Silas. I won't bother you again."

"No harm done." I told her, though my trust in her word was dubious at best.

"Can I bring other guys or girls here for sex, or shall I go to their places?" She asked, looking up at Nina again. I guessed that the sight of a pissed off, three hundred pound, bodybuilding Wolfess was enough to make anyone reconsider their behaviour.

"I'd prefer that you go over to theirs. Then feel free to give me a call, and I'll pick you up if you need that."

"Okay, thank you."

"You hungry, Layla? What about you, Silas?"

The Dragoness glanced at me, evidently waiting for me to answer first. She was much better like that; very polite and courteous. "I'm okay." I smiled. "But I think Layla could use something to munch on after a rather long flight. I'm gunna go and do full check of your truck."

"Aw, thank you. I'll bring you a cold drink in a few minutes, okay?"

"That'd be great."

The sound of conversation became vague as I walked back to the garage and got back to jotting down a list of checks I wanted to make.

I was doing some routine checks on the suspension, my back already sore from the skateboard I'd been lying on, when I felt my boot get nudged. After putting down my little torch, I wheeled myself out from under the truck and was met with a very pretty sight.

Nina had been standing with her legs spread in front of the bumper, leaning with her elbows on the hood and looking down between them with a sexy little smile. And where was I? Why, I'd ended up right under her, between her legs.

"Oh. Hi." I grinned, blushing a little from the surprise.

"Hey, sexy. How's the inspection going?"

"Well, the undercarriage is in real good shape. I had a feel around in there earlier, and all the right parts are nice and stiff."

"Why, thank you. I do squats and power lifts." She stuck her tongue out and winked.

"Really, though. The suspension looks to be in good shape. You could do with replacing the brake pads on your front wheels, there's a little bit of what looks like corrosion on some of the piping, but I think that's just dirt, in which case it's not doing any damage. I'll dig into it to check anyway."

"Right... Are brake pads expensive?"

"For your land rover, they'd be around a hundred and fifty bucks per. But I can order some through the shop for about seventy, and I won't charge you for the labour."

"Aww... You're too sweet. If you tell me what your favourite food is, I'll make it for you. And throw in some dessert." Nina winked again.

My mind drew a blank at the question. I'd never eaten anything so good as to classify it to be my favourite. Kinda shows how unpleasant my existence had been up until Nina arrived. "I... I really don't know. I don't have a favourite food."

"You poor thing! Tell you what, we'll try a different thing each week and make a note of what you like and what you don't."

I smiled up at her, my hand finding her calf and gently stroking it. "Thank you."

By the way her tail started swaying, I guessed she liked that. "You're welcome."

After a short pause, my mind went back to what had happened before. "Weren't you a little harsh on Layla?"

"Oh, I apologised after you left. The thing is, with people like her, you need to intimidate them into listening, but once they're listening, they won't forget what you said. I explained that you're my boyfriend, and that I'd like her to find someone else to lay her hands on. And that because I'm your girlfriend, I also wanted her to stop the suggestive comments towards me."

"Is that to stop me from feeling uncomfortable?"

"Mhm."

"Heh... Thank you." I smiled, moved my head and kissed her calf. A very soft, loving smile melted onto her muzzle. "But, you know, I wouldn't have said anything. You've known her longer than you've known me, so it's not really my place to go about and tell you not to do or say things to her."

"Silas, even though I've known you for just a week, I already feel as though I'm closer to you than I ever was to Layla. She... Never was the type to share her feelings. I guess she's more dude than chick." Nina shrugged. Then she must've thought she'd said something wrong because she started blurting out an apologetic explanation. "Which isn't to say that you're girly by any means-"

"Nina, sorry to interrupt. There's something on your muzzle there."

"Wha-... Where?" She started feeling around her face.

"Here, let me." I sat up and she crouched. Then I put a little kiss on her lips. "Oh, it was a smooch."

She started to giggle, trying to hide the blush behind her paws, which I gently pulled down to look at her.

"Sweetheart, there's very little you could do to hurt my feelings or ego. God knows, I already had a low opinion of myself when you met me. You know what sort of state I was living in."

"The castle doesn't make the King." Nina told me, returning a kiss to my lips, and smiled.

"And now you're comparing me to Royalty. You really have everything backwards, you silly girl."

"Exactly! You think any normal girl would be a bodybuilder? Please. It takes a special kind of crazy for a woman to be excited by the sight of her own biceps."

"And it's not exactly normal for a man to be excited by his girlfriend's biceps, either."

Nina grinned. "See? We're absolutely perfect for eachother."

"Yup. We are. Me and my apparently pure heart and you and your obscenely large womanhood."

That got an actual bout of laughter out of her. She hugged me close, and I did the same.

"I love you." Nina whispered in my ear.

"I love you more." I replied.

Surprised, Nina pulled back. "Oh, you did not just say that."

I stuck my tongue out at her. "I did. Whatcha gunna do 'bout it, Nee-Naw?"

"I will molest you until you admit that I'm the one who loves you more!"

"You shall never break me!"

Then there was a knock on the open door and someone cleared their throat. We both looked to the side and saw Layla standing there, looking like a lost child.

"Sorry to interrupt you guys. I was just wondering if it'd be okay for me to take a nap on the couch. The jetlag is playing hell with my head."

"Wouldn't you be more comfortable in the bed? There'd be less racket then. I mean, as long as Nina doesn't mind. It's her bed." I looked at my girl.

"It's our bed, you goof. How many times do I have to repeat that?" She glanced at the Dragoness. "Go ahead and get some rest, Layla. We'll keep quiet until you wake up."

"Thank you." She actually smiled like a normal person that time. "Do you want me to shower first, if I may?"

"You can, you don't have to."

"Then I'll just go and pass out. Sorry for what I did, Silas. It was out of line."

"You apologized already, Layla. You're forgiven."

"Thank you. And Nina?"

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for letting me come over. It's good to see you again."

"Don't worry about it. And you too."

Layla smiled again, nodded and padded off. Nina watched her go, then looked back at me, the seductive smile returning to her face. "How good are you at quiet sex?"

"I have no idea. But I think it's better to save it until you have access to the shower to clean yourself up afterwards."

"Oh. Hmph, good point." She grumbled. Then her expression softened again and she went back to smiling. "So... What are two horny adults to do that won't be too loud and will help pass the time?"

"Watch TV quietly?"

"Actually, yeah. Do you need to finish up here first? I can wait."

"Nah." I gave her a kiss. "I need a break from this."

Nina glanced up at the truck and shrugged her shoulders. "Sorry, girl. He prefers _my_undercarriage. Nothin' personal."

I laughed, and kept laughing as she helped me up and we walked to the front room.

Unsurprisingly, there was nothing good on television. Nina admitted that she didn't watch it very much, and said that most of what she watched was streamed from online to her laptop, which was plugged into the TV for the bigger screen. But then, we didn't really feel like watching anything.

So, again, unsurprisingly, we ended up doing a mix of snuggling and making out on the couch. At one point I started giggling, which made Nina blink in surprise and move back to look at me.

"What? Have I got something on my face?" She asked.

"No, nothing. I just started thinking about how backwards our relationship is. I mean, here I am, lying in your big, strong arms and stroking your belly while listening to you murr in my ear." I met her gaze and smiled again. "It's really nice. Fun."

"Oh..." Nina blushed, but smiled back at me. "I like to think we take turns at being the male in the relationship. Think about last night; I asked if you could hold me while I slept, because I was in that kind of girly mood. Wanted my Prince Charming to make me feel safe."

"From the boogeyman."

"Exactly. Boogeyman don' mess around, yo!"

We both laughed as quietly as we could. Once that passed, Nina smiled at me, her hand finding mine to hold.

"Silas, I wanted to say that my life has never been so much fun. Ever since I met you, I'm laughing near constantly, the smile never leaves my face... When I went for that girls' night out a few days ago, my girlfriends said that I looked completely different."

I was smiling a lot, but still had the ability to talk. "How so?"

"Well... I started singing while driving them to the bar. One of them said that I had an odd skip in my step, however cliché that sounds. And the smiling, obviously. "

"So... You're a teenager in love. Like, completely smitten."

"Not only that..." Nina's gaze shifted to our interlaced hands. She brought them up and kissed my wrist. "...My crush has turned out to be even better than I thought, and makes me happier than I've ever been."

I knew my cheeks were bright red under the black fur, and my heart was beating like a jackhammer. "That goes for you as well. I never met anyone who loves me for who I am, who's so kind and generous and loving. Not to mention beautiful beyond belief."

"Oh, stop it." Her ears drooped. "I'm well built. But nothing like beautiful."

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, sweetheart. And if I have to, I'll keep telling you that you're beautiful until you finally accept it and realize I'm right."

Nina didn't respond for a while. She just gazed into my eyes, as I did to hers, until she finally moved her head forward and pressed her lips against mine. We kissed for a good few minutes, both of us just happy to be so close to the other, until the need for a few deep breaths took over and the kiss broke with panting and mutual giggling.

"I love you." She whispered.

"I love you too." I replied, hugging close to my Wolfess.

We ended up taking a nap. The cuddling and warmth were too good to pass up, and it wasn't like we could do anything reasonably loud while Layla was resting. When I awoke, I found myself alone on the couch. Voices were conversing from the kitchen area, so I stayed quiet to listen in.

"...really jealous of you."

"How come?"

"How come? That amazing pile of fur on your couch should be reason enough. I've never seen you so happy, and it's way too obvious that you're in love with him."

"I will have you know that Silas is more than just a pile of fur. He's stiff in all the right places as well."

A giggle. "Yeah, I guess he is. I'm just... Jealous that I've never met someone like that. Who could make me as happy as you are."

"Maybe you should start with a handshake instead of a penetration?"

"Nina, I haven't done that in months. It's only happened two times over the past three years. And only because the guys wanted it."

"So what's with the emails, and harassing my boyfriend?"

"The emails were meant to impress you. And I thought he might like it, seeing as, you know, you have a cock and he's happy with it. Thought he might be Bi."

"Don't you think it's a bit rude to do that without asking first, though? Especially if he's already with someone?"

"I wasn't thinking straight, I admit." A sigh. "I was just tired and horny. I'm not as tired anymore, but still horny."

"I can't help you with that, Layla. I'm sorry."

"I know..." There was a short pause. "Has a threesome ever crossed your mind?"

"Honestly? Never. I'm more than satisfied with what Silas does for me. Layla, if you want to have this conversation, you're going to be having it with me and Silas. I'm not going to be making any deals behind his back - that's not how our relationship works."

"You're right. I'm sorry. Look... Could you take me to a bar or something this evening?"

"Sure."

"Will Silas tag along?" Layla didn't ask this in a resentful manner - rather, a hopeful one, which confused me somewhat. Nina too, by the sound of her response.

"...I thought you'd want to get me alone and try your new moves on me."

"You don't mess with people's relationships. I learned that the hard way, and it hurt like hell. I'm just curious as to what's got you so starstruck. Aside from the nice ass, I mean."

A pause. "He does have a nice one, huh?"

"You kidding?" A giggle. "The things I'd do..."

"Will I need to file two restraining orders?" I called. Both girls laughed. I heard padding on the carpet, then they were leaning over the back of the couch, looking down at my reclining form. The tank tops were a nice touch, though...

"We...Might... Occasionally give you a pinch." Nina winked.

"Or a grope, if you're exposed." Layla added.

There was nothing sinister in the smiles they had, and neither did the comments make me feel uncomfortable. I still had some lingering bit of unease about Layla, but that was slowly drifting away with the knowledge that Nina would be on my side in any circumstance.

"I guess I could survive that."

"Atta boy!" Nina grinned. "You wanna come with us to the bar?"

"I don't want to get in the way of your catching up."

"Aww. I wanted to get to know you better." Layla did a sad-dragon expression.

"How about this; if you don't manage to find someone to go home with, come back here and we can have a chat. Does that sound alright?"

"Yeah. Thanks, Silas." Layla smiled. I smiled back. "Hey, if we're going out, I should put something more... Eye-catching on." She said to Nina.

"Then what are you waiting for? Go freshen up." The Wolfess replied.

Layla nodded and walked off, while Nina sat on the couch and rested her legs in my lap.

"Love to tease me, don't you?" I smiled.

"I really, really do." She laughed.

I started to stroke her from the knee to the hip while she sat back and murred softly in contentment. "Thanks for being so nice to her." She murmured.

"Who, Layla?"

"Yeah."

"I don't see why I should be mean."

"She_did_ harass you sexually."

"You harass me sexually every day."

Nina smirked. "True..."

"And she seems like a nice enough girl, if a little uncouth."

"She's really changed since I last saw her. As if she's finally calmed down. And... Well... She's really jealous of me."

"I overheard that, yeah. Why is it, exactly?"

Her eyes opened and she turned her gaze to me, a little smile at the corners of her lips. "I don't think you're fully aware of how rare it is for a Herm to find someone like you. I'm a freak, like nature smoked pot the night she made me. Almost everyone I've ever revealed myself to has reacted by running - and you hugged me. That never happened before, Silas."

"You're not a freak, Nina. You're just different. And I love that you are."

Nina blushed a little and smiled some more. "See? And you're surprised that she's super jelly of me." She paused for a little while, just gazing at me with a smile. "Could I get a kiss?"

"Of course." I smiled back, and leaned in to meet her halfway for a soft smooch.

Four hours later, I was sitting on the couch with a book, passively flicking through the pages and not really paying any attention to the text. I didn't really feel like reading just then. I put the book down and stood, padding over to the bedroom. The bed looked like someone incompetent in the matter had tried to make it, but that was just my OCD talking. Going to the chest of drawers, I opened the bottom shelf and moved some clothes aside, extracting a medium sized wooden box from its hidey hole.

I took the box to the bed and sat down, placing it in my lap. It was dark brown, with brass hinges and lock, and finely engraved with decorations. Dust had built up in the engravings from the box being hidden under the floorboards of an aged apartment. I made a note in my mind to clean that out when I had some time alone.

I tenderly pushed the latch to the side, making the lid pop open ever so slightly. Propping up the lid, I was met with a white envelope, under which lay some old trinkets and four thin stacks of twenty dollar bills, amounting to two thousand exactly. The savings I'd made in the past five years.

One of the trinkets, the first one I picked up, was a pair of dog tags. Army, Staff Sergeant, blood type O, no religious preference. Still shiny. I put that down and instead picked up a necklace. It had a silver chain, very fine, and off it hung a Celtic Cross, cast in silver with a Sapphire in its centre. Its owner had never been a believer in religion, but avidly stated that she instead believed in the elements; earth, fire, water and air. The final trinket, a thick bracelet made of several strings of braided leather and topped with a bar of silver, engraved into which were three spirals painted black. It was a tribal symbol of Air.

With a soft sigh, I put back the bracelet and picked up the envelope. It was thin, still looked new, and one wouldn't be wrong for thinking it was empty. The stiffness suggested otherwise. Inside was a picture of a wolf family. A father with a pair of dog tags around his neck, a mother with a Celtic Cross around hers, a girl in her late teens with a braided bracelet and a young-ish male with an intricately decorated silver ring on his right hand. I extracted said ring from the very depths of the box - it had fallen down there over time - and turned it over in my palm.

It had been... What, ten years since I wore that ring? Maybe more. I didn't remember. I didn't want to remember. I missed them, and I didn't need it to remind me of them.

"Oh, hey." A voice softly said. I jumped, snapped the box shut and looked at the doorway. Nina recoiled a little. "I... Thought you'd be asleep. Didn't want to wake you up by coming in too loudly. Silas, are you alright?"

"F-fine, yeah." I nodded.

"You're crying."

I blinked, raising a hand to my eye and touching the area under it. My fur was damp with tears. "Just... Bad memories. I'll be okay."

Nina frowned. "Do you want me to leave you alone?"

Glancing down at the box, I put my hand over its lid and shook my head. I didn't look at Nina then, while she moved towards the bed, then sat down next to me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, gently pulling me into an embrace. That finally made me feel the tears, but being aware of them let me hold them back.

Nina wasn't going to ask about the box. She was a very smart girl. The smartest I'd ever met since... Well...

"This is what I was most worried about losing a week back." I explained.

"I know. I remember seeing you tear up the floorboards." She replied, very softly.

"It's... Things. Some stuff that belonged to my family." I'd never shown the contents of the box to anyone. Since I'd placed them in there, I'd been the only one who'd been able to look at them. Something, though... Something made me feel that Nina needed to know. I pushed the lid up and put the envelope to one side.

"Dog tags?" She asked.

"Not mine. I was never cut out for the army. They were my Dad's."

"Oh."

"The Celtic Cross was my mother's. It's nothing to do with religion. She just had faith in the four elements that make up everything; earth, fire, water and air. The four points of the cross are meant to symbolise that."

Nina nodded. "What about the bracelet?"

"My sister's. Stella. Her element was Air, hence the spirals. Mom was Earth, Dad was Fire."

"Because he was a soldier?"

"Yes." I picked up the envelope and pulled the picture out of it. I heard Nina giggle.

"You look really cute in that picture. Must have been a riot with the girls."

For the first time in my life when I'd been looking in that box, I actually laughed. It was brief, but sweet. "I was way too shy. And none of them ever approached me."

"Their loss." She smiled, kissing my temple. "Where's your trinket? Your parents and sister had theirs."

I looked at my closed hand, thought briefly, and held it out in front of Nina. She opened her hand and I dropped the ring into it.

"It's beautiful. The decorations remind me of a rushing river. Earth, Air, Fire... That makes you Water."

I looked down at the floor and sighed. "It does, I suppose... Stella was the smart one, though. She did better in highschool than me. Honour roll student. Had lots of friends, was always helping others. I was never like her. I preferred being alone, reading. Hated school at every stage. I was... Jealous of her. In a stupid, childish way. She was better than me, and I resented my parents because I lived under the delusion that they loved her more. I was never a good son."

"Don't say that." Nina murmured. "Your parents loved you no matter what you did or how you acted."

Hearing that only made it hurt more. "Then one day she got accepted into some big, amazing University and was granted a scholarship to study Neurosurgery. My parents wanted to celebrate, to go out to an expensive restaurant. I refused to go. I just wanted to stay at home. It ended up with me fighting with my dad, and I stormed off to my room. I was lying in my bed, angry and frustrated, when Stella came in. She didn't say a word, just put down a gift-wrapped item by my bed and leaned down to hug me and kiss my cheek. She just said that she loved me and hoped I felt better once they got back." The breath caught in my throat and I almost choked, but calmed myself down. "She, for no reason, bought me brand new book from my favourite author, which I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. Then, I didn't see her or my parents again. They didn't come back the next day, or the day after that. I was getting worried, so I called Stella's phone. The voice on the other end wasn't hers, it was that of a cop. According to him, a freight truck blew a tyre as it was coming from the opposite side of the road, the driver lost control and slammed into my parents' car. Dead at the scene."

I paused. I couldn't stop myself from crying anymore. "The last words I said to my family were, 'I hate all of you'." That was it. I fell apart at the seams. I wanted to curl up into a ball to keep myself together, but I couldn't move. Of all the things I regretted, it was the way I treated my family. I no longer felt any resent towards them, especially not towards Stella. I realised that she'd never rubbed her achievement in my face; several times a week, she'd knock on my door and ask if I wanted any help with any homework. For some reason, I always picked her up as snarky, when she'd always been loving and... And an amazing big sister. She never deserved the behaviour I gave her, the cold shoulders and scowls. The one thing I wished for every night after the accident was that I could take it all back. But life doesn't work that way.

Nina wrapped both arms around me and pulled my head into her chest, rocking softly back and forth. I could hear and feel her heart beating, which helped me calm down after a while. I still sobbed quietly, but managed to speak. "I failed them. I failed her. I've done nothing with my life. I'm just a lowly mechanic who can't even support himself."

"Silas..." She let me go and kneeled down in front of me, looking up into my tear-blurred eyes while holding both my hands in hers. "Don't say you've done nothing with your life. Most people in your position would curl up and wither away, but you at least tried to do something." Nina smiled a little. "And I think your sister would be so proud of you for helping me like you did. I've never had anyone love me like this, I've never loved anyone so much. You had every right to run away from me, but you stayed and gave me a chance, and I can never repay you for something like that." She raised one of my hands to her cheek, still smiling. "Because of you, I go to sleep each night feeling safe, because of you, I look forward to waking up each morning because I know someone will cuddle me and kiss me... Because of you, Silas, I no longer feel so utterly alone in the world, I don't feel like a freak, I feel like I could do anything because I know you'd be behind me. You showed me love when nobody else would, which already makes you special, if only to me. But believe me, to me you're the most special person to ever walk this earth."

I felt the faintest smile curl on my lips.

"And you're much stronger than I am." She added.

I laughed, somewhat sadly. "Says the girl who could flip a car over."

Nina giggled. "No, silly. You're much stronger emotionally than I am. You've kept yourself together all these years, while I know I'd have snapped very quickly."

"I'm just a bit crazy."

"Better than being normal."

"If you say so."

"I do." She smiled, gazing into my eyes. "You want a hug, Puppy?"

I nodded. "Yes, please."

She hugged me tight, running her fingers through my hair. "I'm so sorry about what happened, Silas. Nothing I can say could ever fix it. But I want you to know that whenever you want to talk or even want something as simple as a hug, I'm always here for you."

"Thank you." I whispered.

We'd gotten undressed and lay down in the bed together, just enjoying the company and warmth the other provided. Nina was tracing patterns in my belly fur, ruffling it and smoothing it back down, while I gazed at her smiling face. Blue eyes, a soft smile, a mess of dark hair about her and drooped ears. The best way to describe how I felt towards her then would be, 'Aww'.

"You're gorgeous, you know?" I murmured.

Nina blinked and looked up at me. "Oh God, have you been drinking?"

I smirked. "Just water." Placing my hand on her cheek, I stroked from there to the back of her head. "I mean it. You're beautiful. You have shining eyes, a fantastic smile and absolutely adorable ears."

Said ears flickered and drooped. "Why my ears, of all things?" She asked, blushing heavily.

"They make you look so cute when you're comfortable and happy. They start drooping, and your eyes usually start shining when that happens. The blue becomes as clear as two big Sapphires, their beauty only matched by the beauty of their owner."

Nina didn't say anything for a little while, seemingly transfixed, until she softly asked, "Can I kiss you?"

"No." I replied.

She blinked. "No?"

"No." I kept a straight face, then smiled a little. "Because I'm going to kiss you."

The confusion disappeared from her face as I lowered myself down the bed a bit to be at eye level with Nina. She smiled, ears drooped and eyes shining in the dim light of the bedside lamp. And then we kissed. Slow, long and sharing more in that moment than thousands of words could describe. Once we both pulled away, I opened my eyes and saw that Nina's ears were utterly drooped down now. Her eyes flickered open after a few seconds and she smiled, cheeks cherry red.

"You okay?" I asked, booping my nose to hers.

"Y-yeah. Better than I've ever been before." She stuttered, struggling to fight the smile and formulate words.

"Is that so?"

"Mhm. There really is nothing better in life than true love."

"What about sex?"

She thought it over, then perked up. "Sex between true lovers! That's really good!"

The excitement in her tone made me laugh, which resulted in her blushing embarrassedly. "Hey, I wasn't laughing at you. I just think you're adorable."

"I guess I must be." Nina paused, looking into my eyes. "If I admit that I'm adorable, will you promise me never to call yourself a failure again?"

"I promise."

"I'm adorable. You're right, I'm wrong."

"A triumph! A man is right and a woman is wrong!"

"I'm only half girl."

"Half a triumph is better than none."

"Fair enough..." Nina smiled, cuddling up to me. "Sleepytimes?"

"Sleepytimes sound good."

"Goodnight. I love you, Silas."

"Sleep sound. I love you too, Nina."
