Lesson III
Time is not life, and life is not measured by time.Time is not life, and life is not measured by time. This is a lesson I learned early on in my twelfth year upon this existence. For as a human species we like to understand our surroundings. This causes us to strive to find more ways to describe what we see and what we can not. For if we can not understand all we are not whole, and being whole is what our minds force us to think is right. In our modern day society there is a philosophy; Time is money. Who could not use a little money? We work daily to obtain more economic fulfillment and thusly we waste our lives away wishing for more of this. One perfect example of this flaw is thus;Richard, a working male in his early twenties, has no ambitions in life. He has no special talents, nor does he wish to strive for a job that will force responsibility onto his plate, for he does not want to be in control of another's fate. He has a special girl that he has his eyesight's on, he is too shy to put forth his emotions just yet.He has however been thrusted into the world of man, his parents have decided he has matured enough to survive without due harm to others and himself more importantly. Yet, he does not know what to do. Should he travel the world, try and romance his way into the girl's heart, or fulfill all of those wishes he has cherished in his mind for all those years in school? Yet there is only one problem. Travel requires money, if you are to do it legally. He needs a new suit of clothes, a house, a car, or at least some food to dine with before he worries about impressing his love. His desires will be for not, should he fail to fill his belly and find shelter for living. So what would any normal human in modern society do? Find a job, and work for his plate. However he finds himself at a job that does not offer him the salary he desires, and for far too much labor and risk, so he finds another. However this new job requires him to do things that are against his morals, and the employer is a awful leader who sees their employees as mere pawns. So he changes jobs again, only now he finds that he has to work far too long hours, he hardly has enough time to sleep, let alone shop and do all the things he wishes to do.And so Richard's cycle of misfit jobs continue, until he finally finds the right job. Sure the labor may be a little rough and the hours too long, however the salary is well worth the suffering. Only, now he does not remember what to do. His mind has been so bashed by the prospects of finding his perfect job that he has since lost contact with the girl he longed for, the desires he wished for in his youth are now unappealing and far too troublesome, and traveling would interfere with his current job.Thusly Richard has been lost in the cycle of business for the lower class. Working, eating, sleeping, only to do the
same thing in the morning. With little to no difference each day. He is stuck in this cycle until one of three things happen; I He should realize that he needs more time to himself so that he may fulfill his desires. II A even should happen that causes him to see his mistakes. Be this love, quilt, or the prospect of furthering oneself is entirely up to fate to decide. III Should he die, the cycle will end. However this is a very sketchy and flawed example, which has many situations that one could easily change. There are many factors that could have proven that example wrong, however this example is true for several people in the world, not only for those named Richard. Now what does this have to do with the original statement? Time is not life, life is not measured by time? Well... Perhaps I was beating around the bush, but than again maybe not. That depends on your perception.Which brings us back to the point, time is simply a perspective of life. Time is a measurement of when, however this is also a tool, for which humans have used to measure worth, quality, and overall trust. For time is not a natural thing, it is simply how many times the earth has moved on its axis, or how much it has rotated. Time can not measure the quality of a person's life, or anything's life. The only thing can can measure a person's life is the soul, for a soul is the root of a creature's being. In this modern area humans are passing life as a task. They see what they must do and they do it, should they have nothing to do they are lost. Thusly they look for a new task to show them the path away from their fear of nothing. Yet this was not always so. In the past, before time was a tool and days were measured by light rather than hours and minutes, people had a cleaner prospect. Yes there are also those who required tasks to live however there were alot less. There were more people who wished simply to walk around, explore, or to think. They would travel around to find others or events that would entertain, or show them new way of thinking. This is not however traveling around the world to find a war or a festival, no. This could be as simply as walking through the woods or a garden, finding someone to chat with or to find a creature that is doing something strange. While these may seem small, simply, very unneeded things to the logical person, mind you, these are well needed. However as mentioned before, in today's modern era, humans do not see these things. They are too busy working to notice all the small things in life. Whenever asked to slow down and enjoy the moment they simply reply, "I haven't got the time." or "There isn't enough time.". Yest is this true?I have brought it upon myself to instead of doing things quickly to get it over I shall strive to do it slower. For time is not something that is true. Time is not at the heels of my fate, it is not a object or tool that will show me what is right or wrong. Time is
not what will tell me what quality or worth is in my life. I shall mull things over more, taste instead of swallow. Enjoy life and travel the folds of my mind, rather that become a machine of which never prospects on life's true meanings. For while other's may be running to perform the task's of their day, you shall find me off in a clearing, or in the woods, in the darkness, or in the light, reading, playing, pondering, acting, or more than likely procrastinating. For I have learned to take a step back and examine my life, not let it pass me by without a second thought. For while some may see it as a torturous place I see is as one big adventure of which to explore. Time is not my master, and no one shall tie me to the chain of time. "I am not wasting time! Time is wasting me! For I am not going to decay under the burdening tool of mankind now as late, early, now, then, or when. For I am not simply a moment in time, I have been here several times, unlike those who see time as their master and their ultimate fate! For when my time runs out, is it truly my end?"Only time will tell as they say, however is it truly time who speaks so, or is it simply us?
