How It Goes - Part 11
#11 of How It Goes
Of all the parts I have posted thus far, I think perhaps this one is the one I am least content with.
A couple of old faces resurface, a couple of names are dropped, the closest thing to an inner monologue, and who can forget, embarrassing yourself in front of your parents?
As far as lone monologues in front of headstones go, I do hope I am not the only one who can carry on a conversation all on my own - though I admit, in my case, it is not in front of my still-alive mother's tombstone - rather, it is an expression of my own madness made manifest in various locations. Such as the shower.
If there was ever a turning point in regards of my mindset while writing this story, I believe this is it.
Do enjoy.
The cafeteria bustles with students, with animated conversation, laughter and good cheer. Scott and Tom are seated in a corner, quietly eating their lunch.
"You okay?"
"Yeah," Tom mutters. "A little... scared."
"Of Brian?"
Tom nods. "I think I'll be fine, but..."
"But what?" Cecil approaches their table with a sandwich and a soda. "Can I take this seat?"
"Yeah, sure," Tom says, with a small, small smile.
"Everything went well after last night, I take it? Both of you look... content."
Scott nods, and he gazes down at the table with a sombre expression.
"Scott?"
"Fallout," he responds simply. Cecil looks a bit perplexed, but Tom nods empathetically.
"You're a beast at MvC3," Tom says. "Good at any other games?"
"SF4 and P4A, easily my favourites. Enjoy some Melee on occasion, Project M... general fighting games, y'know?"
"I'ven't tried P4A, I hear it's okay."
"Yeah, just about. Haven't had a chance to get the Ultimax version, been a bit too busy and money too tight. You should try it."
Scott glances up from the table. He spots a familiar bear entering the cafeteria looking around. Theo spots something, and moves towards a different table. Moments later, there is an angry shout, a scraping of chairs, and Theo is smashed into a nearby table. Stewart looks vicious as he moves toward the bear.
"Shit," Cecil says, rising from his chair. He starts to move towards the polar bear, but he stops when he sees Brian enter the cafeteria in an angry hustle.
"You enjoying yourself?" Brian says sharply, less than two feet away from the polar bear. Stewart rivals the bull in size and bulk, and they glare at each other. Stewart's face is lined with hatred, his fists clenched and trembling. Brian's visage is one of fury, and they both inch closer to one another until their noses almost touch. "You really want to take me on?"
"What in the world is going on here?"
Mrs. Sharpe storms into the cafeteria. She throws one look at Theo, and then at the bull and polar bear. "Campbell, Byrne!"
Stewart's anger grows, and with a heave he storms past Brian. When he reaches Mrs. Sharpe, who tries to stop him, he shoves her into the nearby table. When he reaches the doorway, he finds a fox cowering - and he punches him in the face. Brian looks furious as he prepares to follow, but Travers puts an arm on his shoulder and holds him back.
"Don't. The cunt dug his own grave. He's not worth it."
They watch Brian help Theo up from the ground. Mrs. Sharpe is rather unsteady on her feet as she adjusts her spectacles, but she spares no time in getting over to the fox, who bleeds profusely. Travers leaves the cafeteria with a cold expression. Patterson follows the cat, but when he reaches Mrs. Sharpe and the fox, he picks the fox up, and leaves the teacher. Brian and Theo sit down with Byrne and Colton. It hardly takes a minute before the cafeteria returns to normal.
"Why must everything be so dramatic these days?" Scott mutters, with a heavy sigh.
"He'll get expelled," Cecil adds gloomily.
"Is that a bad thing?" Tom scowls.
"I pity him. I don't get why he's become so..." Cecil looks distressed. "Excuse me."
Cecil leaves the table and heads over to where Brian and Theo's seated.
"You okay?" Scott asks Tom.
"You mean with Brian over there? It stings a bit, but... but it's fine."
Scott nods. He buries his face in his hands, as his mind wanders elsewhere.
The snow is slowly being washed away by the rain. The graveyard is empty and desolate but for Scott gazing at the gravestone of his mother. He sits cross-legged in the slush, thoroughly wet and shivering. His jacket is draped over his backpack.
"I miss you," he mutters to the headstone. "I wish you were here. Dad's doing well. He's going through a divorce because of me. I wish he was happy, like he was when you were here. It's my fault he's unhappy..."
"I'm still friends with Tom and Brian. Everything's so strained lately, though. They had sex... Tom's been a wreck, his parents kicked him out for being gay... Dad took him in to take care of him. To help him like he helped me. I think you'd be proud of dad."
"Brian's..." He pauses for a bit. "I'm worried, mum. He's drinking a lot lately. I think he always have been. I know he's a big guy, but I can't remember seeing him without a beer in his hand, except at school."
"I'm gay. I met a guy, and asked him out in front of the entire cafeteria at school. It was really embarrassing... but he said yes. He's this handsome bear. His name is Theo. This was in November. We had our ups and downs, but he... he makes me happy."
"We had sex this weekend. My first time. It was..." He sways. "It was indescribable... but it made me really confused too. I don't want to be with anyone else but Theo, but... at the same time, I want to have sex with almost everybody I know. I guess it's... it's..."
"I ... really, really like him. But it's like... the sex isn't the same as the relationship? At the end of the day, he's the one I want to... to sleep with. To share my bed with. That's what it feels like. It's like this fire in my chest. I don't feel that way about anyone else..."
"But I still... get all... aroused. Tom and I have been snuggly and we snogged, and I really wanted to sleep with him. I walked in on Brian wanking, and I found it really... I wanted to join him too."
"I don't think I could do anything with Brian, though. He likes me too much." Scott rubs his face. "I guess I always have known. I keep looking at other people too, and I keep imagining all these ... scenarios? And it makes me feel scared and guilty. Shouldn't they only be about...?"
The wind shreds through Scott's fur, and he trembles like mad.
"I met a new friend. Cecil. He's really... I like him. Upfront, and upbeat, and... just up everything. We study together. We play together. But I don't really find him sexy at all. Is that weird? He's weird in that good way, and cheerful, and he makes me laugh. Is... is love always this stupid?"
"Ever since sex happened, it seems like everything went to hell." Scott sighs. "Tom and Brian haven't been the same, and I'm so... I want to be alone for a while. But I can't go anywhere..."
"I need to go before I..." Hoarfrost has long since crept up his arms, and frost needles dangle from his chin. Scott lowers his head and closes his eyes. "I miss you."
Wobbly, he rises from the ground and grabs his jacket and his rucksack. He looks at the phone, which briefly flashes 23:00. There are multiple unread text messages and missed calls, from Brian, Tom, and Theo. He staggers out of the graveyard, as the rain slowly disappears.
The doorbell to the Byrne's rings throughout the house. There is some shuffling, and Scott can hear a verbal complaint from the inside. He can tell Mrs. Byrne is coming to the door through the rippled window. The door unlocks, and she looks well not chuffed.
"It's half eleven, what are... Goodness, Scott!" She pulls him into the warmth with a horrified look. "What happened?"
"Graveyard," he mutters. "Since three."
"You... oh, goodness, Scott. Why didn't you call your father? Or Brian?"
"I wanted to be alone. I couldn't...I couldn't..."
"Scott..." She shakes her head. "Right. You go take a warm shower, I'll prepare you a bed, and call Charles."
"Please don't," Scott says weakly.
"No complaints from you, young man." She gently pulls him closer into a hug. "Your father deserves to know. I'll explain everything to him. He won't get mad. Come now, dear, let me find you a towel, and get you out of those wet clothes..."
There is a knock on the door. Scott shifts uncomfortably underneath the blanket, with a shiver in his spine. The door opens, and his father enters with a steaming cup.
"Morning, Scott." He comes up to the bed and sits down on the edge. "Are you all right?"
"I'm hot..."
Mr. Oliver gives him the cup of hot chocolate, and he rubs a hand against his forehead. "I expect as much. You've a fever. Mrs. Byrne told me last night."
"Sorry..."
"I'm not angry with you, Scott. Did visiting her help?"
"You're never angry with me. Why is that...?"
"I've taken care of you for ten years. I understand that sometimes..." Mr. Oliver helps him take a sip from the cup, and he sighs. "I miss her too. Did something happen at school? Or with one of your friends? With Theo?"
"It's everything. I'm confused..."
"In what way?"
"Theo and I... we..." He swallows, painfully. "My throat..."
"Take another sip. You had sex?"
Scott nods meekly.
"Do you regret it?"
"No. But... it's suddenly everywhere. And I... I want to... With a lot of people around me."
"Ah," Charles nods softly. "A new world. You want to experience it all."
Scott nods. "Tom and Brian too. But I'm with Theo..."
"It's nothing to feel guilty about, Scott."
"But..." Scott splays his ears.
"Scott, listen to me." Mr. Oliver shifts until their faces are aligned. "Talk to Theo. Tell him how you feel, communicate with him. Make sure you two are on the same page. Find out how it makes him feel. There's no point in feeling guilty about it."
Scott nods quietly.
"Talk to Theo, okay?" Mr. Oliver repeats, as he rubs his head. "I brought you some change, I'll drive you home. Tom went to school, so you'll be alone. I'll mention it to Tom and you can stay in your bed."
"Dad..." Scott whimpers. Mr. Oliver places the cup of hot chocolate on the night stand and gives him a tight hug.
"Don't worry about it. I love you, Scott. Drink up Ellie's hot chocolate, and get dressed. I'll wait for you downstairs."
"Love you too, dad," Scott says wistfully. He watches his father leave, and as he sits upright, he grabs the cup of hot chocolate. He takes a sip, as he sinks into a quiet reverie.
Scott steps off No. 14 onto the dry street. Above the sun beams through wisps of clouds, and all around the snow slowly withers away.
"Scott!"
Theo walks up to the wolf with a smile. Scott hurries towards the bear and throws himself into a hug.
"Are you okay? I haven't seen you at school at all since Tuesday."
"I gave myself a cold," Scott says quietly, nuzzling at the bear's chin.
"You gave yourself one?"
"I went to the graveyard."
Theo nuzzles Scott's muzzle softly, as the hug ends. They both move towards Theo's apartment. "After school on Tuesday, you mean?"
"Yeah."
"How did that give you a cold?"
"I didn't leave until eleven o'clock."
"You didn't..." Theo blinks and his face furrows. "You sat _how_many hours in the rain? No wonder you caught a cold."
"I'm surprised I didn't catch worse," Scott mutters. Theo looks a bit down as they reach the apartment. They enter the warmth of Theo's flat.
"How come you did that?"
Scott flumps into the couch. "I...I broke down."
"I..." Theo sits down next to him. "You could've told me."
"I didn't want to be a bother." Scott averts his eyes from the bear.
"What makes you think you'd ever be a bother to me?" There's a tinge of hurt in the bear's voice.
"I feel guilty." Scott gazes down at his lap. "I... ever since we had sex, I keep... looking at everybody else and I keep wondering what it'd be like."
Theo looks at him curiously, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Did you act on that?"
"Almost. With Tom." Scott pulls a bit away from the bear.
"And?"
"I should've... given you some notice, shouldn't I?"
Theo grabs the wolf around the shoulders and pulls him up into his lap. "I thought you and Tom were like brothers?"
"He told me... he didn't feel that way. And somehow that just changed everything. It felt right, like it would work."
"But you didn't fuck?"
"No. We snogged and it was headed that way, but he stopped it before we got anywhere."
"Scott..." Theo kisses him softly. "Of all the people you could've fucked, I would not have cared if you and Tom did it."
"But..."
"Scott." His voice is firm, but he licks at his lips. "Don't worry about it. I don't mind if you fantasise about fucking others, and if you end up banging Tom that's fine. If it's anyone else... well, talk to me first, yeah? And... if I'm not okay with whomever it is..."
"I won't do them." Scott nuzzles the bear's chin quietly.
"Don't tell me you were all anxious about this all week?"
Scott splays his ears. "It's just... I don't get why I keep imagining it with somebody else. I want you to be the only one I think about..."
Theo shuts him up with another kiss, and he maws the wolf's lips slowly. He gently lays down on the couch with Scott on top, and his hands move down to Scott's pants. "I guess I better make sure I'm the best, then."
"What are you..." Scott blinks, as Theo shoves Scott's chest on top of the arm of the couch. Theo pulls down his trousers and underwear, and his lips wrap around the head of Scott's cock. Scott gasps as the bear slowly gobbles down his hardening dick, his pants pulled off and thrown aside alongside his boxers.
Theo grabs Scott's rear firmly with one hand, and he holds the wolf steady with the other. He slowly pushes the wolfhood into his mouth, and out again, until Scott takes the initiative. Theo laps over the length as Scott slowly muzzlefucks him, and he reaches down to his own trousers to pull out his own member.
Scott pants as he continues to shove his dick into the bear's warm muzzle. Each thrust is a short one, stopping as soon as he hears Theo gag. The slurping sounds the bear makes as works over the tip of his member spur him on, and Scott feels his knees grow weak. With sharp inhales and deep huffs, Theo slobbers loudly and eagerly, rubbing his own cock slowly.
There is a sharp sound somewhere in the distance. Theo opens his eyes and gags slightly, his ears perking at the sound of the front door opening.
"Happy birthday, Theodore!"
Scott freezes mid-panting, as he raises his head upwards to look at the doorway. Theo's face is a mask of horror. In the doorway stands two elegantly dressed, plump bears; Theo's mother in an evening dress, with a hat and a scarf; his father in a tailored suit, with a pair of cigars in the front pocket. As their eyes fall upon Scott and Theo, they both freeze. Scott slips from his position and falls forward, and he crashes into the hardwood floor, dragging his dick over Theo's horrified face.
Theo's dad coughs. "Should we perhaps wait outside for you two to finish?"
Scott tucks himself away in a corner, his ears splayed and his face afire. Theo is pacing back and forth, his face pulled back in embarrassment.
"We told you we were coming, dear. At least you could have confined yourselves to the bedroom. The sight was, ah." Theo's mother poises herself accordingly.
"Now, now. Boys will be boys. Even more so," Mr. Magnus chuckles. "You never told us you preferred the lads, boy. Is this your beau?"
"Yes, father," Theo mutters.
"Right, right. Won't you introduce us?"
"Mother, father, this is Scott," Theo says, trying to compose himself. "Scott, this is my mother, Cecilia, and my father, Douglas."
"Pleasure is all mine," Douglas says, reaching out his hand to Scott. Meekly, Scott reciprocates.
"I do hope you treat him well," Cecilia says, as she extends her hand as well. Douglas gestures to Scott to kiss her paw. Scott awkwardly follows through. "Oh, that's well enough, I suppose."
"Oh, never mind the old wag," Douglas chuckles.
"Doug!"
"So, we figured for your eighteenth, we'd go somewhere proper," Douglas continues, unfazed. "Your beau's welcome to join us, though, if you'd like."
Theo looks over at Scott, who shifts uncomfortably. He seats himself next to Scott, and gently grabs his hand. "Do you want to?"
"I don't know if I'd feel..." Scott whispers, looks away. "I'd like to, but I don't want to be in the way."
"Nonsense, lad," Douglas says, with a large grin. "I'm fairly certain our son wouldn't let us walk in on such a scene if you weren't important to him. Would you, Theodore?"
Theo's face writhes in embarrassed agony. "No."
"Then it's hardly a problem. It's all on us. I do hope you have proper attire, though?"
"I do," Scott mutters. "At home."
"Wondrous. Then we will swing by your house. Theo, you should go get dressed."
Theo rises from his seat. He takes a deep breath and composes himself, shifting his stance on the spot. "Yes, father."
He strides into his bedroom, somehow far more dignified than before.
"So, what is your full name?" Cecilia asks haughtily. "You look familiar somehow."
"Scott Edward Oliver," Scott replies as best he can.
"Oliver, eh?" Douglas murmurs thoughtfully. "Who's your father?"
"Charles Oliver?"
Douglas chuckles. "Really now? You're Charlie's lad?"
"Oh," Cecilia sniffs. Her face relaxes, and her countenance seems warmer.
"I studied with your father, a long long time ago. In fact," Douglas beams, as he holds his wife's hand, "He set us up,"
"He's a wonderful man," Cecilia adds, with a warm murmur. Scott stares.
"Is he still with... what was her name?"
"Julia," Cecilia nods.
"Yes. Your parents didn't divorce, did they?"
"No," Scott says, lowering his head. "Dad's a widow."
They glance at one another. "How dreadful..."
"Such a shame," Douglas nods gravely. "I am sorry to hear. How long since, if I may?"
"Ten years ago now."
Theo breaks the conversation as he returns to the living room. Still dignified in stance, his suit is as impeccable as his father's. Scott notes the tie, the cufflinks, the silver pin on his jacket, the shoes. He looks at Scott, and his parents. "I'm ready."
"Well then." Douglas rises from his char. "Where do you live, lad?"
"Thank you for the dinner, Mr. Magnus, Mrs. Magnus," Scott says with a soft bow. The clear skies and evening sun casts a light over the bear and wolf as they stand next to the Cadillac.
"It was our pleasure, I assure you. Ah, and lest we forget," Douglas says, as he gestures to his wife. He gives Theo a canvas bag. "Your birthday gift, of course. Fifteen rare Anniversary Padróns from yours truly. Make sure to keep them in the humidor."
"Thank you, father," Theo says, as he takes the bag and shakes his father's hand.
"You two enjoy your evening."
They both say farewell, and Theo's parents drive off. Once they've turned the corner, Scott and Theo both sigh and relax their shoulders.
"Your parents are..." Scott huffs.
"Extremely posh?" Theo sighs.
"I didn't realise your parents were loaded."
"What, the massive apartment didn't clue you in?"
"I mean...You were so... well. Posh. It's not like you." Scott scratches his chin. "I'd have thought you were at a public or private school."
"Strict upbringing does that." Theo looks a bit glum. "I transferred to a state school when I was thirteen. I couldn't make any friends. My mother protested, but my father convinced her that it was in my best interest." Theo rubs his nose. "How come you're at a state school, though? Considering your father, I mean."
"Brian and Tom," Scott says simply.
"Yeah, fair enough."
"Your father mentioned... Padrón?"
"Cigars," Theo says, glancing into the canvas bag. "Ayep, there's the box...Let's go inside."
Scott nods, and they make their way inside. Theo makes sure to lock the door, and they both walk into the living room.
"I felt so... scruffy," Scott admits. "At the restaurant. My clothes look rubbish next to yours."
"It was good enough," Theo says with a shrug. "Though I would not be surprised if father had taken you to a tailor if it wasn't. He's a bit of a hedonist."
Scott looks back, staying quiet. Eventually, Theo moves closer to Scott and he brushes a thumb over his tie.
"I don't think you look scruffy, though" he says with a smile. "I think you're sexy. It suits you."
"You look impeccable," Scott murmurs back. Theo comes closer and noses his nose. "And I thought ...when you and your father smoked cigars... it was very becoming of you."
"Hope I don't stink too bad," Theo whispers softly, his lips touching Scott's.
"I like it," Scott huffs, and he kisses him softly.
"Yeah...?" Theo presses up against Scott, his boner rubbing up against his belly. "We were interrupted rather crudely, and I believe I was doing something very important."
Scott blushes. "We were told to confine it to the bedroom..."
Theo grins and swoops Scott up in his arms. He starts moving towards the bedroom. "It's my birthday, y'know. I expect birthday blowjobs and mouthfuls."
"I'll blow you tomorrow morning too," Scott whispers, as they enter the bedroom. Theo lays Scott down and crawls on top of him. As he maws his lips hungrily, Theo starts to unbutton the wolf's shirt, one by one until his chest is exposed. He kisses his chin, before he gently nuzzles down the wolf's chest, down to his belly, further down...
