Split Souls: Understanding
#6 of Split Souls
Don't think I have pushed this hard before. I had nothing of this typed out four days ago when I loaded the last part.
Things are getting harder and complicated.
The tag F/Solo Masturbation is only accurate if you consider Cassie Solo.
Jared was surprised how easy it was to get a room at the Rushlin Terrace considering it was one of the top hotels in the capital. They had asked a few simple questions and been pointed in that direction: Expensive, Elegant, and catering to well to do visitors. Jared had wanted to stay away from the best fearing being seen or noticed but Cassie had insisted on high class and this fit both of their desires, except the fact that she told him to put one of his five, two thousand dollar script notes on the counter with his crest coin.
With in minutes the owner himself had been more than happy to help him book a room for three nights, he even allowed Jared access to the hotels vault when he inquired. There was shock when Jared dropped a heavy duffel bag and began stacking out coins and mint sets to be registered to put in the vault. By the time he headed up to his room nearly an hour later everyone was calling him young lord and asking if there was anything else he would want. Besides asking for a small meal he wanted nothing and waited while he got his satchel and papers so he would be ready to leave as soon as he scarfed down some food.
"Anything else Lord?" The bell hop who had delivered the food asked.
He had already gulped down quite a bit much to Cassie's irritation and quickly answered. "No I have to leave in just a few minutes."
"Will you be needing a car?"
"No. I can walk." He stated. That was the limit for Cassie insisting she be allowed to take over for a few minutes. She swiftly opened the satchel again digging out a small silver piece from the bottom and turning to the frowning bellhop. 'Now say what I tell you.' "Yes, I'm sorry I will need a vehicle. Please have one ready I will be heading down in a few minutes." She flipped the silver watching the surprise as the other realized what it was. She gave a little nod and watched as the bellhop made a quick exit.
'Jared you have to do better! We aren't going to get far if you can't even act like you're supposed to be here. Be a little arrogant and give orders. You aren't going to WALK anywhere!'Giving a little sigh and grabbing a few more bites he listened while she gave instructions on how he needed to behave.
Back downstairs he was lead to his private car and the driver opened the door for him to enter. As the vehicle rolled away from the hotel the driver, a slightly plump bobcat, asked. "To the auction house Sir?"
"Not today I require some clothes, one set to be tailored made that will have to be done in two days." 'Better.' Cassie told him,'Remember you're the one that wanted to do this.' He grumbled softly at Cassie as he tried to explain that he wanted some clothing in an older style.
"Ah, Good young lord. I know the place."
'Don't ask or explain tell.' She stated when the driver interrupted his explanation.
"I will finish as soon as possible and then come back." He told the driver as again the door was opened for him to exit which brought a snort from Cassie and a slight frown from the driver. 'He's your driver he's not going anywhere.'
"Purchase, pickup or order?" The question was asked by the doberman who held the door open as Jared stepped forward. He took a moment to look around him at the huge store. The place had semi vaulted ceilings that made arches where dresses and suits hung from the ceiling and racks and shelves below spaced in between displays of even more clothing.
"I need some clothes." he finally answered.
"I'm sure... Well there are several suitable shops just down the way." He turned back to see the canine still holding the door open.
'Stupid,' Cassie admonished. 'You don't look like you belong here and you still don't sound like it. Let me.' She stated. 'Cassie you can't talk!' He shot back. Feeling her smirk and smugness as set his bag on a shelf and looked inside. 'Jared relax and trust me.'
He felt the heavy piece of silver she pulled out already knowing it was one of the bigger pieces no longer a true coin but the weight alone would make it worth more than the others. "Manners in this place are lacking." Jared heard himself quietly speaking, but loud enough to be heard. It took a little bit to toss the coin towards the man but her aim was fairly well making him only reach out to catch it. "Things must be different in the capitol when doormen expect a tip or they push you back out." he could feel his face pull into a slight smile as she continued. "NOW perhaps you can do your job? Run along and find the owner or something."
'Cassie!' Jared stated worried. The man was obviously used to such an attitude and didn't seem affected at all by what she said.
"I am all for a joke or prank but you will find this establishment can be quite harsh. I suggest you leave now." He stated stepping back and holding the door open a little wider even while he gripped the coin tightly.
'Your turn.' Cassie informed him dropping back, 'TELL don't ask and don't sound like you don't belong.'
Taking a small breath he tried. "Yes well... if this were a joke I'd be running out and trying to take that with me." He replied pointing to the canines paw. Turning he stepped further into the store looking around again. "I expect you sell shoes here too, I don't have time to buy clothes here then go looking for shoes somewhere else."
He stood a moment longer before he finally turned back and was nearly face to face with a deep blue eyed fennec in a full court dress of equal blue. 'Compliment the dress!' Cassie nearly shouted at him as he studied the frowning female in front of him.
"Of course I sell shoes, several different kinds in fact." She paused noticing the young ferret was still staring at several parts of her body. Cassie had to nudge him again when she realized he was studying the dress and wondering if what he wanted was possible.
"What? Oh, forgive me. THAT is a stunning dress. Are the arms always so tight like that?" He was questioning the fact that silk arm and light lace seemed to hug against her forearm stopping several inches above her wrist.
"This is my own personal design which helps to keep my hands free. As for the dress, I'm sure it's quality and tastes are far beyond your price range. I believe Adam can help you out." She informed him.
Jared trying to take Cassie's advice gave a little snort. "I see, so then am I required to purchase your entire business _before_I can request a special order from you?" He stared straight back at her as she looked him over once again.
"Alright then young man I'll require fifty percent of the suit paid for now! And the second half before the final alterations are done. That's a minimum of six hundred from you before I even bother with measurements!"
With Cassie backing him up he snorted again. "Six Hundred? Are you talking cast offs or rags?" He watched as her expression darkened. Even though he winched inside he kept going. "Twelve hundred now and I expect your attitude to match the price." Jared walked over opening up his satchel again. He would have to give her another of his bank scripts, he needed to get to a coin shop and get some real money before he started having trouble. He flipped the script her direction allowing her to see the amount.
"My apologies young lord. You do not appear to be one that would be interested in my services." Before he could really answer Cassie stepped in again.
"Please understand I have to leave with a set of clothes now along with my order. I can NOT heading to the inner city looking like this..."
"Of course. Again my apologies but twelve hundred is is a bit expensive to charge. I am not Corwalls or some palace supplier."
For the first time Jared gave a little smile feeling the honesty in her words. "You don't know what I'm asking for yet. I need a court dress and two... wait. I need a moment to think." Cassie was literally driving him insane inside. 'This is for YOU and you alone. Don't buy me anything I won't wear it. Only the outfit.' she told him.
He took just a second to recollect his thoughts. "I need a suit, good enough for the inner city and the auction house today." He watched as the fox nodded and flicked a hand sending the canine off. "Second I wanted an old style court robes, with a catch. Two of us will have to wear the same one. I have her measurements so I hope that's not a problem."
"Her?!" She asked surprised.
"Yes, we will have to make very quick changes, and No two outfits won't do. It must be the same one. Also I will need it in two days." He watched as she scratched the side of her muzzle before giving it a thoughtful lick. "Now you understand why I'm offering twenty four hundred total." He quickly turned back to his satchel and fumbled to pull out the crest coin. "I also need a solid pocket that can display a crest coin and the colors... I need royal blue with light green and red and sea green."
"You know I can't offer red and sea green and you should know why." She told him quietly.
Jared had kept the bracelet the High Lady had given him covered with a tight white cloth and although Cassie had suggested a few time that he might have to use it he still didn't want to. The fox watched as he unwrapped the cloth and saw her shocked look when she realized what it was especially once the royal insignia was revealed. "I will not disappoint the High Lady, nor the first daughter. Can you make me what I ask for in two days?"
"I.. Yes I will do what you ask." She finally spoke finding her voice.
He was already trying to hide the band by the time Adam returned. Jared had found three things out about the Braytant Lady Lindara had him put on. One it would not come off with out her personal magic and any attempt to use magic to force it off would alert her. Two anyone wearing one was considered to have the full confidence and trust of the families crest that was on it. And the third thing was that anyone found wearing or faking one without permission would end up forfeiting their life to the house in question. Among the Royal and high ruling housed that would likely come with a death sentence since it basically pushed Jared to ambassador status allowing him to speak on behalf of the royal family.
A little while later Rachel, the fennec, was sketching out designs based on his description after she had taken his measurements. Broad square padded shoulders on the top allowing the cloth to hang down well below the waist, almost looking like some short dress, the leggings were usually tighter and he worried that might be too confining. Rachel assured him that they could be a little looser and have ties at the ankles allowing them to be drawn up and shortened by several inches.
On the whole he was feeling good when he left in a new suit nearly two hours later. Rachel had quickly retaken Jared's measurements as she looked over the ones he had given for Cassie. Although she did not question again why he was asking for this she did insist on several alterations which seemed to improve his ideas. She told them it would be ready in two evenings but needed Jared and the female he wished to wear it to be there in the afternoon so she could make any last minute fixes. After checking with Cassie he assured her that they could both be there and she would have extra proof that the royal colors he was requesting could be worn by him.
The driver seemed to fully approve of his new attire making several compliments and statements to the point as they drove off. He had them stop at the nearest coin and antique collector selling several smaller items and one set for several hundred but he was told unless he wanted to wait a few days for payment he would have to find somewhere where they carried a good deal of cash on site or had some easily available.
He finally asked the driver if he had any suggestions. "It just depends young lord, I can think of two. One is more of a collector, dealing in all kinds of things while the other... Fredrick is tight pawed. You would get a fair deal but barely. He'll buy all you have but you're likely to get the lowest price."
Jared sat considering when the driver made a suggestion. "Wouldn't the auction hall be a better place, especially with what you have back at the hotel?"
While the ferret was wondering if he was supposed to be telling or explaining, Cassie who had already been suspicious spoke out. "What do you know about what's at the hotel?!!"
It was a huge mistake, the biggest one they could have made as Jared clamped his muzzle shut just as Cassie's voice finished speaking. The driver slowed enough to look back at them before turning his attention back to the road ahead. "I make sure to find out all the information I can. Not just about my passengers but about the entire town. I learned several things about you before you stepped in my car. For instance you are no lord's son. You don't act, move, or leave the impression... although you are playing the part better now. I can guess you were probably dropped off here, someone chose you a good hotel. Higher class, good security, and privacy, and they rarely have a serious enough patrons to cause extra problems. I highly doubt you stold what you have, so my guess is you just turned eighteen grabbed your inheritance and ran. You probably hope to have it all spent before someone catches up to you or at the very least get whatever you want out of it. Fredrick is you best bet, he won't ask questions and you can sell just about anything."
"I doubt that. Somethings won't be easy to sell. Who is the collector?" He asked surprised nothing else had been said.
"Vanti? Bervante, he buys anything that catches his attention or he knows is worth money. I doubt you've got much he's interested in. Inner city is coming up make sure you have all your identification ready?" Sensing something to the ferrets silence the driver looked back before quickly pulling off the road. "You need a solid form of I.D. what did you use at the hotel?" Jared dug out the crest coin and held it up.
"I also have some current papers showing I'm an adult and a vehicle permit."
"Paid cash up front, right." the driver muttered to himself. "Kid if you don't have a full valid I.D. you're never going to get past a checkpoint and you don't have enough money for me to risk otherwise.... We are heading back." He stated after several moments of silence. What he didn't know was the discussion happening inside.
"How much do you get paid?" Jared suddenly blurted out.
The lynx seemed slightly upset with the question but answered with a scowl. "Usual rate is at least two hundred for three hours. After that it depends, I charge more if I know I've done a good job or done something extra, I might also knock a bit off if I've enjoyed my fair. There's always a fifty dollar charge each pass into the inner city but most people don't even look at the bill, they just take care of it. Listen if you're thinking of getting out here and walking in that's not going to happen. Like I said before you don't quite look the part and the security is very good."
So like four, five hundred to keep you driving through the night? How much for the entire day?"
"Hmm, don't normally do that. I like to sleep in. Maybe six to eight, depends."
Jared gave a half snort which he growled at Cassie for making. "And if I wanted you for the next two days?" Seeing the driver remaining silent he added. "Your hours. I'll give you some times and places but I also need you to stay silent on everything you see me do." Cassie added in his voice.
After several seconds the bobcat finally answered. "You're starting to make me think this is something illegal. Fine one grand a day including today."
It was outrageous and he let Cassie take over when she told him she would handle this. "Nine a day, if you can keep your mouth shut and help us sell of the coins I'll give you a bonus of five hundred at the end."
The driver hadn't even twitched as he heard the female voice again considering her offer before taking off the safety harness and turning back to look at the ferret. "Do you have that much?"
"Not in cash but we have that much and more or we will." Cassie answered.
"We? I think that deserves and explanation." He responded.
"Your agreement or you can drive us back." Was her answer.
"Alright two things. You want my full help, then you tell me what exactly is going on but first I want to know what happens to me if something goes wrong. I don't care if you can get me out of jail I want to know I'm not walking into something that will get me arrested, or worse."
"Worst case scenario, the palace guards might show up and take me. You they won't bother with, you have my sworn word." Cassie assured him.
"Kid I think we need to make a little side trip." he said turning back.
"Don't be Stupid!!" Jared snarled. "I spent years in a mental institution before I finally got out. Only recently did I have the mages council confirm there are two souls within my body." He closed his eyes dropping Cassie's expectations and trying something different. "Listen can we make a deal with you, a bet?"
"I'm listening."
"Drive through the checkpoint. If I can make it through you will agree to be my driver for the next two days. If not you can keep my satchel cause I won't need it." Jared finished leaning forward and setting the pack in the front passenger seat.
"If we get through you will explain everything?" the driver asked.
"Everything except my name." Cassie spoke, "You will have to wait until the last day for that."
The bobcat hooked himself back into the straps and turned out into the street. "I think this is must be the strangest and oddest bet I've made. Left, middle, or right? We're probably getting stopped so I'd say right."
"Left!" Cassie answered firmly ordering Jared to reveal the Braytant.
"Okay." The two cars ahead of them passed with out slowing but as they attempted it there was a hum like a giant magnet and the car was pulled to a stop. The driver was already rolling down the window before the order was given.
"Show Identification!!" One of the two officers ordered.
"Guard stand Forward!" Jared's voice spoke with Cassie's will. "You will allow us to pass. We will be here for the next three days and we will only use this entrance and we will only be in this car. I do not expect to be stopped again."
The one who appeared to be more dominate of the two had stepped forward and studied the arm Jared held out while she was speaking. He grabbed Jared's wrist roughly yanking hard on the Braytant attempting to force it apart. They could both sense a slight trace of energy that was directed at the bracelet to test it which was ineffective.
When the guard pulled a little harder making Jared hold back a light squeak Cassie spoke again this time speaking quietly to the guard. "The High Lady will be most displeased if you continue to try and damage her bracelet, especially if you harm the one wearing it." When Jared finally pulled his freed arm back she finished. "We will be back several times. I expect to not go through this again. Driver, let's Go."
Cassie took more control raising the window and seating back before the guard had truly made a decision. After several second he did nod to the other guard and stepped back. As the car started forward again their driver took control. "Now how do we sell a hundred thousand in rare coins in a few days?" She demanded of the driver.
"Now there is a full blood house attitude. Alright you win. Just remember when were done here, we drive somewhere nice and quiet and have a little chat."
"Will the hotel do? And Cassie says you had better keep your word and tell no one." Jared said.
"Cassie.. and Jared was it? Well Mister Jared and Lady Casie you have my word that I won't tell anyone what we have discussed, fully confidential. However if you're gonna be making a couple hundred thousand with my help I should get some too right?" Jared kept her back while relaying her reply.
"She says you're starting to sound like a thief. And I agree you're getting over three thousand and I think that's far to much."
"Well you can tell the young lady I'm no crook. I'm not breaking our deal for money. You will get all the help I can, which maybe more than you're expecting. All I'm saying is that if you make a few hundred instead of one and that you agree it was my help that did it then maybe I should get a bigger bonus."
The car was silent as the driver continued to take several turns driving at a much slower speed as was required climbing up and around the steep grades that lead to the inner city. The palace for Mystalane Empire was situated in the foothills of a mountain and laid into the side of a steep rock foundation. The main buildings were a maze of stairways, passages, and rooms all dug in and pressed all the way up the slope. The large area in front had been smoothed and filled out and was the foundations for all the court buildings and the palaces functioning areas. The main entrance way was called the stairway for simple reasons. Three hundred eighty six stairs and six landings, it was considered a scenic marvel as much as it was a strategic defense. Although these days only the last thirty six stairs were where people were halted and questioned. The only other ways up were the duel large freight lifts and a steep ramp and slope system that was heavily patrolled and barely wide enough for a vehicle.
The inner city, or what could have probably been called the old city had been torn town and rebuilt many times growing as far as it could along the hillsides before the walls and finally slopes gave way to the main capitol below. Besides a couple of steep slopes in spots the main area of the Inner city was fairly flat with shops and homes squeezed together and packed in filling out every inch of space. At nearly a mile and a half wide and maybe a half deep it curled around below the main palace holding the most notable shops, artist, and important building. Only those who could produce the highest quality expected of the noble families and royalty were allowed to keep shop. The rest of the space was snatched up by those who had enough money and power to hold small houses and homes in the remaining spots.
"By the way my names Donald." The driver told them slowly pulling up to a shop which had a set of ornate doors. The driver picked up the satchel before moving around to get the door waiting for the ferret to get out before he walked over and opened the main doors for him. A young looking mouse rushed out before he got close running around to the drivers seat to move the vehicle. Donald continued holding the door open a little longer watching as his car was carefully eased down the street and pulled into a corner lot where the rest of the vehicles were parked.
Inside it was like a huge gallery or maybe a museum, statues in the corners and art hanging on the walls. The main difference was the elegant furniture and chairs spaced throughout, creating lines and corridors from tall carved bookcases and desks each holding what were sure to be expensive and pricey antiques.
"Are you sure?" Jared spoke quietly as they began to step along the main walkway.
"If what you have is worth anything he'll buy it, although he's going to me more interested in what you left behind." he answered handing over the satchel.
They only had to wait a few minutes after they were pointed to a sofa and table close to the back before Bervante came forward. "Ah Sir Donald. It is always such a pleasure. Who did you bring me today?" Jared kept quiet as his driver jumped up and shouted 'Vanti' and the two hugged. The pair kept their eyes on the avian one with assessment the other curiosity. The dark and light browns along with a rather sharp looking beak spoke of some kind of raptor but the odd inflection to his speaking told Cassie he was definitely from somewhere well outside of the kingdom.
"This is young master Jared. He has a rather interesting collection of coins but lacks the time to sell them at auction. Perhaps you could speak with Micheal and work out a deal?" Jared had stood when introduced finding his first handshake with any avian was not what he had been lead to believe as a child. Just a heavy boned paw gripped his own instead of a clawed appendage.
"Bervante Starent, seeker of the truly rare."
"Jared Ferannce." He answered politely. Bervante seemed startled for a moment glancing back at Donald before shouting out.
"Neista! Call the auction hall and see if Micheal and Alberto have the time to come over." The avian looked him over once more before urging the ferret to sit. "Please, please sit. It has been a long time sine I have had a Ferannce within my shop. It is a great honor Lord Jared."
Donald was the one who seemed slightly surprised now as he moved around to sit on a nearby sofa. "Putting it on a little thick Vanti?"
"Donald you may return to your vehicle if you wish otherwise I ask you to have a bit more respect. Ferannce,... It's been over ten years, but the name still holds meaning to many. Not as a house but as a couple whom it was unwise to be on the wrong side of."
'Ask him.' Cassie was pestering him in the background. "Sir we... I was wondering what you could tell me about my parents and if you know anything about what happened in the Clay Hall.
Bervante took a moment almost seeming to chew on his tongue. "That is not something politely asked, especially by you."
"But I don't know anything!" They were words nearly echoed by both, with Cassie wanting to just know.
"I am sure you parents were both good people, they could not have done so much without being so. Lidity was a daughter of a minute family and she swam gracefully through the nobles and court acquiring several strong friendships and few real enemies. You father, Aurthur was considered a strong man, one who would ignore house and court alike if it suited him. Several people found that his dislike could translate into... severely embarrassing situations like the one you inquire about. Your father was very careful. He didn't necessarily seek revenge, but always got even one way or another. Many might call him petty but on the whole he was not a man to let any insult pass, especially against his wife."
They stopped watching the same young mouse lad step forward bearing a tray with an elegant and fragile looking tea set. Bervante shooed him away and began serving everyone himself. "Now what wonderful treasures did you bring from your collection."
"I'm sorry. I left the best back at the hotel." He reached out for the satchel opening it. "I don't have a mat with me, should I...?" His question was interrupted as the avian had already stood up heading to a desk pulling off the cover that was on top. The soft green velvet covered more than half the table and Jared got to work setting out all the stuff he had brought. He took the time to arrange everything in neat lines but he could already tell Bervante was disappointed before he was done.
"So little? Surely your collection must be far greater than this." He waved a hand at the table.
"It's my father's collection and I only brought what was extra or could easily be sold."
"Mmmmm." Was the answer as Jared finally pulled out a paper receipt of what the hotel had given him and handed it over. "Young lord your father is dead, it is not his collection but yours. I understand you wish to preserve it but it is no longer his collection."
"Is there something in particular you are looking for Bervante?" Donald asked causing Jared to shake his head.
"The Rising Sun for starters, there are of course others ones as well. I also guarantee to pay top price."
Even with Jared's protest the bobcat still asked, "How much?"
"Well the current price has gone up, probably around fifty to sixty thousand, I might go as high as eighty for a good piece." Their talk was interrupted by Alberto who informed them that Micheal was at the corner and would be only a minute.
"That's excellent but it's your eyes and mind I need at the moment." Bervante replied handing the list over.
"I don't mind everyone looking but I can't wait until there is an auction. I need the money in a day, two at the most."
"Relax Jared that is why we came here. Micheal should be able to give you and advance on an auction as long as he has a possibility of buyers interested in the items you have." Donald told him.
"No, no, you have no need to got though such foolish measures. How much money do you need?"
"One hundred thousand." Jared answered quietly waiting for a reaction, "I was expecting at least that from what I brought."
"And you would be selling yourself short if you did." Alberto joined the conversation holding up the page. "All this is at least twice that amount and a fare bit more with the right buyer especially now."
Donald who had stood up to get his own look stopped stepping close to Jared placing his paw on his shoulder squeezing. "Did you have everything appraised?" He growled quietly.
"I had my dad's notes, and I studies some of the stuff over the years."
Donald shook his head, "At least you were smart enough not to just leave it in your room."
"Calm down my friend. The young always make mistakes, now we can help him out." Bervante stated. "As for money I will give you what you need and only take what Alberto says is worth seventy thousand. In return I wish for your assistance, I want you to put up six coins, one being the Rising Sun for auction and I'm asking for access to your entire collection to pick out items for display. No need to look at me like that young lord, the Historical Palace is setting up a display in a few months with a rather large auctions when it's over. Six coins would be the minimum to get in but, if I remember parts of your collection the Historical Place would likely give you three percent of the profits if your willing to help enhance the display."
Donald had moved behind the sofa and Jared and now whispered down at him. "Do it kid." Jared though didn't even need Cassie's advice to already be against it.
"What kind of coins and what exactly from the collection?"
"Well besides the Rising Sun.. maybe two off that list plus a few that are in excellent condition. Something collectors would treasure." He answered flicking off his fingers holding up more than six.
"So are you looking for a high quality Rising Sun?" Jared's question seemed to catch Bervante's interest.
"It was my understanding your father had one in his collection. Are you implying you have others?" Jared just smiled slightly but that was because of Cassie. "You see! If I had access to the entire collection we could go over what would be best."
Silently Jared pulled out several more papers handing over the four pages he had jotted down himself of what he thought was important and the supposed amounts. He already knew his fathers collection contained three Rising Suns, one good, one fair, one that was considered damaged. There were two more in even worse condition that could barely be argued as being coins. All five were in a case together side by side showing the degradation from the best to the worst. The only reason the last two weren't just considered pieces of gold is that they possibly might have been Rising Suns from the shape and the places they were found.
Alberto was the first to reach out and grab the pages and did a quick skim across them. It was as strange look that Jared got, one he really didn't understand, before the other went back to the first page starting over. It took less than a minute for Bervante to put down his tea and move to stare over his shoulder following suit with Micheal who had already moved to check things out.
Several times Alberto stopped using a finger to point out something and twice all three looked at the young ferret together. That was what really got Cassie going, 'They really want what you have. Agree to Nothing! Get the money and tell them you will discuss it later.'She gave a few more bits of advice but Jared had already come to the same decision long ago.
Alberto finally handed the pages back. "If that is correct it is... impressive."
"How much is it worth?" Donald quickly asked.
"IT is NOT for sale." Jared half growled back.
Micheal was the one who finally spoke in the silence. "He has a great collection, one which could easily rival much of what Lord Callen is planning."
"And that is not all of it." Bervante suddenly seemed a great deal more animated. "I'm sure the young lord still has all of his fathers other treasures as well. Tell me are you willing to put up the reward your father got from the Cerastin site?"
Jared could feel Cassie's growl even as she shouted, 'See, SEE!' He was careful in his response feeling like the avian was waiting to pounce. "Those items are not part of my collection. Even if you paid me two million I wouldn't find what you are looking for." The birds greedy look was quickly covered by irritation and then gone.
"But young lord such artifacts would be the gem of the entire display. This is about all kinds of trading practices, not just money. After all the Rising Sun was only the seal of the Emperor's shipments not actual money. Surely a Trone and.."
"NO!" Jared's flat negative drew everyone's attention and even though his growl was less impressive than Cassie's would have been the slight glow that seemed to emanate from his raise paw made Bervante take a step back and everyone feel uneasy. In fact everyone in the area seemed to think it was now a good idea to be somewhere else.
"Mmm, My apologies Lord." The avian stammered placing both his hands together with a light clap before holding them out, palms up, in a show of surrender. Cassie slid back and Jared was wondering if all that had really been necessary.
Then tensions seemed to ease Micheal couldn't help to ask. "I had heard stories, but do you really have a Trone? Lord Callen has been working with the world Museum for nearly a year trying to get it on loan."
"No. My father's collection has an Ah-Trone and two Pyrone." He answered glaring back at Bervante who made the same gesture as before.
"Even so those would be great..." Micheal stopped as Jared's glare turned to him. "I understand, of course. Are their others on that list that are off limits, or possibly ones that are not on that list that might be looked at?"
Even with Cassie rewarning him Jared decided to make an offer. "I am not going to sell off anything except that which I have decided to right now. However I would discuss allowing some of the times to be displayed." The news seemed to excite both Alberto and Micheal and the pair stepped aside to quietly talk. Bervante now felt he was safe enough to ply a different tactic.
"We should conclude our deal first." 'Here it comes.' She stated. "Would you agree to accept one hundred thousand for seventy thousand worth of coins?"
"What else." Jared stated not quite as a demand.
"Well I would like to buy a Rising Sun and... I ask that you allow me to look over your entire collection. Any item I choose you will consult me before selling. I understand you're not interested in getting rid of anything now, but I would like your agreement to allow me first choice to certain items if they become available."
'Cassie?' He asked quietly. Rather than respond she took over. "I can't agree to that. However I am willing to discuss the matter in private. At the very least you can look over the majority of my collection. I will have the whole thing moved to the Imperial Bank for easy access. Although that will take some time, and money." 'We'll have to do it eventually.' Cassie thought at Jared while everyone else had stopped to stare at him.
"Perhaps the First Star or World Bank would be a better place." Donald suggested.
Jared would have been happy to agree but for Cassie, 'Forget it. You and me together right? They will let you in or Else!' Cassie hadn't spoken a response and everyone including her was waiting for Jared to answer. "The Imperial Bank will be fine." He stated quietly. He could feel how stupid and foolish it sounded since he wasn't part of a government nor part of a royal bloodline getting in the door was probably going to be impossible.
"Kid you aren't part of ANY high noble house, nor family. They won't even let you through the door." Jared heard his thoughts echoed by Daniel in such a mocking way that made him angry. He was tired of everyone second guessing what he was going to do or what he said and more than tired of being called a kid!
"Is this going to be another bet? How about we half your agreed payment if you're wrong." The ferret threatened quietly, while Cassie was furious that the bobcat hadn't kept his mouth shut. He took a quick look around before focusing back on his driver. "You don't know who we are. After this the next stop will be the Imperial Bank."
Cassie wanted to applaud if it wasn't likely that he might be ruining his chances. It was already getting late in the day. 'We should have gone first thing tomorrow.' She told him while still giving support to his decision.
"I expect today's payment now. Before we head there. You want to get arrested fine but I expect to still get paid." Now really pissing both of them off Jared was actually considering allowing Cassie to show him exactly who he was dealing with if Bervante hadn't interrupted.
"Gentlemen, Gentlemen please. There is nothing to fight over. Of course you will be paid Donald, and if the young lord wished to visit the Imperial Bank you should let him go. I would be curious to see what happens myself."
"Fine Donald please get the car, we'll go now." The driver looked ready to protest but once again Bervante stepped forward.
"No I insist we take my vehicle, Samuel." Jared watched as the young mouse from before dashed off. He did agree to allow the coins to be left behind along with his papers for Micheal and Alberto to look over. They hoped to get a more complete and accurate list of prices and try to find a more exact amount of his total assets. Jared didn't bother telling them that what was written down was only part of the whole.
The trip to the bank was silent and made in an old style vehicle which looked more like a tank. The top was build sort of like a bubble with thick plating holding together the obscured plate glass. Even that though didn't get them through the entrance way to the Imperial Bank. Being forced to leave Jared, against protests, struggled his way out of the vehicle. As he slammed the door behind him four guards quickly stepped forward looking ready to stuff him back inside.
"Lower your weapons. I am not armed." He spoke holding out his arms in front of him.
"Return to your vehicle!" The canine ordered backed up by the other three who were felines each holding what looked like short spears or thin clubs.
Cassie took control using her voice and speaking with power. "Enough! By command of the royal house and the First Princess you will lower your weapons and inspect this Braytant!"
All four recognized the voice of the princess but only one stepped forward while the others waited for a trap. Jared's voice spoke next as he tried to unwind the last of the cloth freeing the metal. "I swear, under the PureLight I am acting under the princesses orders." The three still waited while the other tried to confirm looking back to the others after seeing the royal crest. "My name is Jared Ferannce. I ask for admittance. If you need to place a call to the palace I'm sure Lady Nessandra can confirm I should be here. I need to speak with someone about opening two accounts, both connected to the royal family."
The guard seemed even more surprised as he finished knowing that the Braytant was not faked, he stepping back wondering what the next step should be. Looking straight at the guard Cassie finished by saying, "You will treat his orders as if they were my own!"
"Yes Lady, um, Yes Lord please return to your vehicle." His look and words were taken up by the other guards and his nod to the canine was enough. The leader motioned all the others back while he pulled the feline aside as Jared turned away.
'No use hiding it now.' Cassie said as he tried to stuff some of the cloth around his wrist and tuck it back in place. With a sigh he gave up slipping the cloth in his pocket as he slipped back into the car. 'Is everything going to be this difficult?' ~ 'You're the one who wanted to do this.' "I know." he muttered quietly taking his place on the back bench.
"It's alright young lord there are other banks just a secure." Bervante told him. Jared started with a little snicker which grew into a full laugh looking at the avian and feline.
"What makes you think I am going somewhere else?" His words were followed by the vehicle which started forward driving through a short tunnel and into an open parking lot in front of the bank. He answered both of their incredulous looks by simply saying. "I have a great deal more power than my father did." 'You mean I do.'Cassie reminded him. 'We right? Besides I do have more power than my father did.' Their conversation ended as the vehicle stopped and everyone moved to get out.
There was a suit dressed hare waiting for them as they approached the doors. "Young Lord will you please follow me." As the buck guided them inside to the main reception area he motioned to the side where several couches and chairs sat. "If the rest of you will wait here please."
Walking down the hall following the hare Jared asked, "I assume you placed a call to the palace, will I be able to speak with the princess?"
"That won't be necessary, please follow me." That made both of them quite uneasy as they were lead down another hall deeper into the building before the hare opened a set of doors and stepped aside waiting for Jared.
"What are YOU doing here?" A voice barked calling his attention to Drentan who was seating with a dozen others at a long conference table.
'Relax. You want him to treat you with respect for who you are, Don't back away.' Jared stepped forward gripping the back of one of the empty chairs. "I was going to open two accounts."
"Where have you been? You left without permission, you're here without guards. Do you have any idea what your doing?"
"Tisk tisk braa.. Lord Drentan. You might end up causing a scene." Jared thanked her for the reply and continued. "I am doing exactly what we need to do and I have no need of an escort yet... and unless you would like me to vanish from this kingdom for good you had better back off Drake."
His words, tone, and especially the use of such an informal name had everyone at the table muttering but with Cassie's urging he stayed still even while two hares he hadn't noticed before moved up beside him.
"Wait." Drake spoke just before they grabbed him. They both stepped back one pace waiting. "I don't have time to deal with this. Head up to the palace I'm sure someone can help you with things."
Jared paused for a moment pretending to consider. "No. We are not ready yet and she would be furious if you get in my way."
"Kart step back!" Drake gave the order as one advanced again.
"My Lord I have a job." The hare spoke clenching his paws like he wanted to latch onto the ferret.
"You should know your place." Jared tried to say with authority as he lifted his wrist aiming the Braytant and the royal insignia at the guard. Confusion and surprise where what he saw so he worked with that. "The Lady and I are opening bank accounts and we had assumed the Imperial Bank was the place to go. I had a life, my Lord, and my father left behind a large collection which I am now responsible for. Surely you didn't expect me to just leave my entire life behind with out taking care of somethings. She agreed so we came here to set up linked accounts."
"Linked?" Drentan spoke suddenly curious. "What do you think she has access to?"
Jared couldn't suppress a slight shiver over all that was going on, something that was caught by the tod. "I have plenty to cover us both. We don't need anything, not from you or your parents."
"My Lord this is outrageous. Who ever this foolish boy is I can not allow him to speak badly of the royal family!" One of the men at the table had finally stood up in protest.
Trying to keep up the attitude Cassie was pressing at him he gave a bark of laughter. "Foolish boy? You have no clue who you're dealing with. My father was Aurthur Ferannce, a man who took no insult without making sure the offender paid. Be very careful in the words you choose, very careful."
"That is enough Jared, or do you plan on causing a scene? One of you go with him, no Nelson go with him and help him to set up two accounts. You may put five hundred thousand in the second account but they will not be linked. I assume you can keep your thoughts and words to yourself?" Drake asked the older canine who rose.
"Of course my Lord." He stated stepping around the table towards the ferret.
"Jared I am tempted to have security placed around you but you're right, you don't likely need that yet. You will be careful right?" Jared as much as Cassie was surprised by the seeming shift from the prince who had been nothing but antagonistic before now seemed helpful and polite, even when he told them that was enough.
"I will keep us safe."
"Just don't go jumping on any over sized glants okay." Drake stated before ordering his two guards back.
It was an exhausting two hours full of paperwork and disbelief from everyone he worked with. But with his Braytant, Nelson's assurances, and the few times Cassie actually spoke he was able to create both accounts and start the transfer of his vaults. Donald and Bervante had to wait with only one brief visit to placate them as he request the money to start his account. Both kept quiet when he came back thanking Nelson and then asking him to pass along thanks to Lord Drentan as well.
"Is there anything else you need Master Jared." the old canine asked.
For Cassie he relayed a message. "If you have a chance tell Lady Nessandra that she is missed."
" I assure you the message will be passed along." With a light bow he turned and left.
The day had turned into full evening as Jared was lead out of the bank followed by Bervante and Donald. Being in front he missed the glances the two made between each other and the head shake that followed. Nothing was said until they were back pulling into the corner parking lot. "Jared... were you asking that a message be sent to the princess?" Bervante asked.
"Yes."
"And you've known the princess a long time?" Seeing Jared's frown he pressed on. "I only ask because I do keep close track of the royal family and court affairs, of course. I know your father but I had never heard your name before today. I was just wondering how the two of you might have met."
"Nessandra and I spoke a great deal over the past two weeks over her twin sister. Like the High Lady I am also suspicious that my parents died in an accident the day ofter the princess was kidnapped. I have..."
"Cassandra!!" Bervante bursted out in surprise.
"Yes. Now I have several things I want to accomplish before heading to the palace, you know there is quite a reward just for information about Lady Cassandra." Whatever was going through Bervante's mind neither could quite say but Cassie was making extra glances towards Donald especially when he asked the next question.
"Have you seen the second princess?"
Jared covered the start of her outburst with a cough. Clearing his throat he started, "We have all seen the second Princess. Cass.. Lady Cassandra is the first born princess and yes I have seen her." Using his voice Cassie added more. "I assume the two of you know enough to keep quiet until the announcement. No I'm not sure what the High Lord and Lady have planned yet but I think we will find out by the end of the week."
Donald still looked skeptical but Bervante seemed, eager. After a few clicks of his beak he blew out a light whistling noise. "You wish to collect the reward."
"In part." Jared answered.
With the topic back on money Donald seemed more interested. "What kind of reward?"
"Lands, title, and a whole lot of money." Jared answered. "And of course the gratitude of the royal family." For the first time the bobcat stared at the ferret's wrist trying to see while Jared quickly slipped his hand to his side.
"So you really are a young lord and woe to those that stand in your way." Whether Bervante was truly being serious or not the near awe quality to his voice and posture had Jared nearly busting up laughing so Cassie took over.
"Thank you. All I want now is to return to the hotel, it's been a very long day and there is much to do tomorrow."
"Of course. I shall send the papers and coins over tonight so you will have them in the morning." Although they had already transferred the money into his bank account Bervante, of course, wanted full paperwork done on what they were trading.
"You still owe me an explanation." Donald spoke as they pulled back into the hotels parking lot.
Completely ignoring his words Jared asked. "If I gave you a set of keys could you have a car cleaned, sold, and the items inside sent to me?"
The feline stopped the car and turned off the engine looking over the seat. "Yes I could, now where are we going to talk."
"Our room of course. You won't understand otherwise. Now park the car and let's go inside, we're hungry." Cassie voice spoke at a near command.
If it was strange for Jared to stop at the front desk and order a meal or the fact that a well known driver was following behind the clerk paused only for a moment before taking the order and watching the pair head to the elevators. Jared still said nothing as he relaxed at the eating table waiting and Donald seem content to wait as well.
When the food finally came he took a few bites before he stared by explaining about the car accident that killed both his parents and left him with just a small fracture that was quickly healed. He went through his entire life allowing Cassie to speak as she wished until they got to recent events where he stopped just before they entered River Rush. "I assume that is enough for now?" She asked.
"You know I caught your slip earlier in the car when you said Cass, and the fact you claimed to have seen her. Do you really think you're the princess?" Donald asked.
Jared toyed with the Braytant before speaking. "I need a moment will you excuse me?" He asked standing. He slipped into the bedroom kicking off his new shoes and pulling his shirt off the moment the door was closed. When Cassandra walked out in rather simple clothes the feline was completely speechless.
"As you see Sir Donald. We have seen the first princess. I know_exactly_ who I am." She sat back at the table picking at what was left of the meal. "Remember I have your word, you are not to speak of this to anyone. I also expect a more professional attitude from you."
"Yes Lady. My apologies." he spoke swallowing several times.
"Good. Realize that you are not going to get arrested, nor should you worry about being paid. Now back to business, Jared and I decided he needs to show the royal family he is not just going to be pushed aside nor shut up. We will announce my return in front of the open court on Thursday. The only problem is he has been using this to get things done." She held up her arm showing the royal insignia. "I doubt mother would be pleased with how he's using it but since I am a member of the royal house he is safe enough."
They sat back waiting to see if Donald had accepted or assimilated enough. "You, you're just going to walk into the royal court?"
"No Jared is. We will change in front of the court. That was why we needed to order a special outfit today." Starting with Jared's first encounter with Nessandra, Cassie brought Donald up to date with everything that had happened including their entire plans for the next few days. In the middle she stopped ordering another meal and hiding while Donald answered the door. She nibbled on things while the feline ate and listened. When she was finally done Donald only had a few suggestions to add before he asked about the prince and whether he would interfere.
"I think now that they know Jared is here they won't bother us. We left suddenly but Nessandra should have calmed most problems. Since there obviously isn't an active search I can assume mother and father are just waiting. Either way I'm sure we will find out tomorrow when we go back to the inner city."
Donald set down his fork sliding the plate back slightly. "I'm sorry but I really have to ask. Do you honestly think you're the first princess?" She had nothing but a scowl and irritation for the feline so Jared tried speaking.
"Look at it from my view. Do you honestly think I would make such an insane claim? She has memories of things that happened and yes they concern the royal family. All the pieces fix together so nicely except one. Why or Who took Cassie and why did they put her soul in my body? I can understand why they might have chosen me at the hospital but then why let me go? You ask if she is the princess and all I can say is that she and her family believe and no one has yet to find any evidence otherwise." It was just a mutter but he also added. "Too many questions and too many coincidences."
Donald left a short time later with the agreement to be back before noon to take them to the next few places they wanted. The pair went to bed still in Cassie's body with just the shirt and panties. 'Do you mind?' she thought at him when her own hand seemed to drop into her crotch when she sat down on the bed. 'Do you?'
They had already examined and lightly touched the area but this was the first time they were truly alone in her form and Jared was quite hopeful. 'Can we?' Cassie had been expecting the question for days and was wondering herself if now was a good time. 'No one will hear, even if they did no one would know it was you.' Rather than answering she stood up and slipped the underwear off her body and pulled the sheets back before she sat back down. 'I'm still a virgin.' She stated trying to get a point across.
Jared was starting to press out a good joke when he stopped. 'Well soon we... Cass we will be careful. I Promise!' He waited until she laid back on the large bed, half propped by several layers of pillows before gently lifting her shirt with the bodies left hand and began rubbing her belly. They were both sharing a moment of excitement but Jared wanted to hold back and allow Cassie to start.
'Cassie?' He suddenly asked. 'What about Nessandra.' She couldn't miss the sudden flash of her twin on the bed with her and the second of him with her. Nor the sudden wild and impossible vision of all of them together bodies huddled close and moving together in mating fashion. Cassie let out a little growl. "Is this about me, us or her?" He moved his paw over hers which was now covering her privates. 'Tonight is about you, the future is about us. I just got excited.' ~ 'I can't believe you would even ask that!' ~ 'Sorry' he thought quietly.
They started slowly, Jared caressing her thigh or tummy as she slowly explored. After a few moments she pulled her paw back and allowed him to brush against her vulva and gently press against her lips, barely nudging inside. They both enjoyed the new and different pleasure that came in little jolts or shivers of feelings. Cassie was getting wet now fur slightly damp in places where the less dominate hand lay while waiting.
When she drew back this time his paw gripped hers manipulating it till the index finger was pointed up. She understood as he guided the digit back inside wiggling it all the way up to her barrier. They both twitched as he added a little pressure gaining a slightly unpleasant feel before he let go. Rather than pull away he used a finger and slipped under her hood pressing against her clitoris before rubbing a quick circle making her gasp, shudder, and let out a moan as her tunnel clenched against the invading finger.
Together they rocked, pumped, rubbed and groaned through the growing sensations. "Aaahh aahhh aaAHHH!" Jared changed and pressed in with her moving finger making her cry out before pulling back and making another firm rub around her clit. It couldn't be better living through the feelings of Cassie's body as she called out. She gave a little bark as her back pressed into the pillows and her hips lifted upwards. Both paws were trying to keep going one barely inside as their peak hit and both found out the true difference as her tunnel rapidly clenched while ripples of feeling races up from her privates. Jared tried to rub more but seemed to have a hard time finding any control through the bodies high levels of emotions. Cassie relaxed in stages but it took dozens of seconds before she was fully nestled back against the pillows panting for breath.
Looking down she could see her crotch was wet, one hand nearly dripping and her fur was streaked with moisture in different spots, some of the spots already seemed to be drying leaving her fur matted down. The quick thought of a shower was nothing compared to the wish to just lay there until they did that again.
Her left paw twitched twice before she felt Jared rushing forward pressing against every part of her. I was like he grew filling up every crevice inside her body squeezing her body and soul in the process. It was only for a few seconds but the pressure grew so tight her breath stopped and it seemed her heart shuddered for just a second before he dropped back sliding away as fast as he had rushed in.
She waited for him to speak but all she got now was mixed feelings of accomplishment and pleasure along with satisfaction. She took a few moments of private thought, thinking that this hadn't even been close to what she had been worried about. Closing her eyes she had to admit to herself that if their places had been switched she too would have wanted/needed to know what it was like on the other side.
