In the second part to Always Peter and Jaden are now teenagers. Comments and ratings and the like are always appreciated.

The leaves of fall were always my favorite time of year. The crunches beneath my feet were almost like the sound of snow crushed under my hooves, but somehow, felt even more satisfying. It was almost comforting that they stayed the same--still floating quietly to the ground one by one as I walked underneath them, books under my pits or in my bag. Knowing that at least something had stayed the same kept me walking, one step at a time.

I looked up at the sky, marveling at the clouds passing over. It wasn't long until my mind snuck a memory of Jaden and me into my conscience. We'd run up the hill and watch the clouds for hours--it felt more like days... "Hurry up, Peter, you're gonna miss it! It looks just like you!" He'd always say that...

Without thinking, I ran my antlers into a tree, rubbing them against the rough bar as I let out a lustful groan. "Fuck," I grunted, realizing my thoughts and actions. "Jaden..." I backed away from the tree, my legs trembling from the sensations still running through my antlers. "God, I hate these things."

I blinked, just once, before a vibration went off in my pocket. Speak of the Devil and the Devil shall come to thee... I pulled my phone out and checked the number. "Yeah, I thought so." The screen flashed with the name "Jaden" and below it was a text that read: "Football. I'm already here."

By now, I was only a few feet from my house--I could even see my yard. If he was on about football, I'd been tackled and on the ground... I looked around warily, slipping my phone back into my pocket as a few leaves fell onto my head, making me shake them off. Slivers of warmth made their way down from the tips of my antlers down my spine and I suppressed a whine, my tail twitching. "Damn things..."

Then, from overhead, I felt air rush past my head, scattering the leaves and brushing past my antlers. I looked behind myself, where the air came from, to find Jaden jumping around with his hands in the air.

"Tooouuuccchhhh doooowwwwnnn!" he screamed as he pranced over to me, his tail whipping from one side to the other--despite how stubby it was. I couldn't help but notice every movement he made--his muscles behind his short, fluffy white striped fur and dopey grin he always wore. He was the ideal "dumb jock" sure, but he was my dumb jock.

I chuckled nervously and he looked into my eyes with his, almost intimidatingly. "Uh, what?"

"You did great! Maybe I should stop using you for tackle practice and just focus on my throwin' instead," he said with a laugh as he put his paws on my shoulders.

I grinned, enjoying his touch. "Aw, c'mon now, Jay. Don't tell me you're getting soft on me now?" I winked at him, lowering my head to butt at him with my antlers a little, which he grabbed onto and pulled.

Unintentionally, I grunted, pulling myself away from him as he gave me a confused look. Bad idea, bad idea...baaaad idea... Why did I do that?

He shrugged it off and said, "Nah. Just tired of bruisin' ya up for a lil while is all. You wanna get my ball, or am I gonna have to go hunt it down?"

I put my hands up. "Oh, no. That's all you, buddy. You go do your hunting thing."

He purred quietly and hunkered down to the ground, just for a moment, before dashing down the street and tackling the ball. He nearly knocked the thing down further, but picked it up between his sabres instead, turning around to bring it back as I began to walk into my front yard.

Before his paws touched my lawn, he raised up to two legs again, dropped the ball into his paws, and shouted, "Go long!" as he threw the ball to me. I turned, opening my arms the way Jaden had shown me, but didn't pay attention to where I was headed.

My eyes were locked on the ball spiraling in the air, but they didn't notice Jaden stop, cuff a paw over his maw and shout, "No, Pete! Look out!"

The last thing I remember was hearing his voice and then...darkness. It swallowed me completely in a world I couldn't move my body or work with my thoughts to figure out what had happened to me.

The next thing I remembered was Jaden sitting across from me and holding an ice pack to the side of my head. I looked around, my head throbbing with pain and my vision somewhat blurred. "Whoa, take it easy there, bud..." he said to me as he tried to hold my head still. He grabbed onto one of my antlers and I moaned quietly, unable to hold it back in my feeble state.

Through my disorientation, I could still see Jaden's eyes widen and some crimson cross his face. He looked away from a moment, but then said, "Your mom's not home. Should I call her?"

"N-no," I mumbled. "I'm gonna be fine, just...don't touch my antlers...I get...excited..." If I wasn't so dazed, I wouldn't be able to believe the words had come out of my mouth.

I felt Jaden's grip on me start to loosen, but then he squeezed them even tighter, making me yelp out. "Sorry," he whispered as he finally took his paw away. "I was curious..."

I shook my head, but it only made me more dizzy. "It's okay... Thank you, by the way..."

"Don't worry about it..."

Something inside of me, in that moment, took over. My chest tightened, my palms sweat, and I could hear my heart pounding in my ears above any other sound or notion rustling around in my head. I pursed my lips, leaned into Jaden, and kissed him on the lips, holding it there for a few seconds before pulling away and returning to darkness.
