A New Look 2
#2 of A New Look
Eh, part two, pretty self explanatory.
A New Look: Pt. 2 (because I'm bad at titles)
With his new record, and clothes in hand, Russell made his way out of the mall. The cheetah exited the mall and began walking back home, a good mile or so length. His translucent plastic bag swung by his side as he stepped forward, it's contents not quite visible to other pedestrians, which Russell was thankful for. Once he arrived home, he put the record in the proper drawer, and hid his new clothes under his normal ones; not quite sure what his parents would say if they found them.
He didn't really wear his new attire until a week or two later, kinda having forgotten it as it was hidden away. He did get a little embarrassed looking at the clothes, as they were were polar opposites compared to his normal clothes, but he did want to try something new. He thinks about when exactly would be an appropriate time to wear an outfit like that, and decides he should just wear it next time he goes to the mall, or any place that's not with his parents. Free time was nearly nonexistent, but there was a day or two in the next week he could try and go out-- albeit for only a short time. It would be nearly perfect though, just an hour or two out, with some "interesting" clothes to try on. Having made up his mind, Russell put the clothes back, and went about his usual activities.
The following week did, in fact allow Russell to spend some time out, about 2-3 hours on Saturday. It was a pretty mild, fall day; the sun was partially out, and it wasn't too warm. In other words, it was a nearly perfect day for what he wanted to do. The cheetah was quite nervous about wearing the rather feminine clothes in public, but he did pay to wear them, it'd be a shame if he didn't.
Russell put the thin shirt and cardigan on and sneaked his way out of the house (Sneaked, as in walked out the back door). His parents knew he was leaving, so they shouldn't bother him too much about it, if at all. He began walking to the very same mall he bought the clothes at, musing on if he should go say hi to the friendly stoat who helped him pick out the clothes. Even as indecisive as the cheetah was, he decided he would go and say hi, if Len was working today.
He reached the mall a couple of minutes later, entering and looking around as he always did. Though this time he was a but... self conscious, not knowing what people would think of his more girlish appearance. He was sure a couple of people looked, maybe a bit confused, but he continued browsing the shops anyway. It takes him another 20 minutes to get back to the shop he got the clothes from. Taking a deep breath, the cheetah steps inside and looks for the stoat; who was, thankfully, at the counter, playing with what seemed like a pen. Len looked up every couple of seconds, to make sure none of the customers were doing things they shouldn't. This time however, Len 'spotted' Russell and smiled a bit, happy to see someone even somewhat familiar. The cheetah walked over to the counter and said meekly:
"Hi, again."
"Hey! I see you're wearing the outfit you bought."
"Heh, yeah, I had to wear it sometime, and it's a lovely day to do so."
The stoat nodded in agreement and suggested:
"Would you mind turning around a bit and letting me see the rest?"
Russell nodded and turned around slowly, going full circle before looking back up and smiling at Len. To which the stoat responded:
"Heh, it looks nice on you."
"Aw, thanks... Well, I shouldn't keep you from your work too long, goodbye."
Len waved as Russell turned and walked out of the store, a little more confident in his outfit choice for the day. The cheetah continued to walk around the mall, not looking for anything in particular. He did however find a record he was looking for and bought it, without hesitation. One other thing did catch his eye on the way out, a cute looking lynx. Apparently Russell had gained the gaze of the lynx as well, since when they both looked at each other, they both turned and blushed. Russell continued out of the store and began walking to the mall exit. Though he did take a second to look back at the lynx, who was still blushing a little and smiling just a hint back at Russell.
The cheetah walked home, snuck in through the back door, put his clothes "away" and sat on his bed. He had some thoughts about the feline, and let himself be entertained by them for a bit before going about with the rest of his rather short day.
