To the chairman , and my esteemed colleagues of the Imperial council of healers,

I am writing to let you know I arrived in Falkreath safely.

At the border, I was met by a dryht, or comitatus led by the Jarl's own Housecarl and there-from escorted to the town.

Upon my official presentation to the Jarl, I immediately received confirmation of the rumours that brought so much excitement to us all.

There, on a raised dais at the end of the hall, were two thrones on which Jarl Folcwine and his wife S'fara sat. But in addition were two smaller chairs upon which their children sat.

The eldest - the son is 12 years old, but is tall and muscular, giving the impression of a youth of two or three years older. I am told that he is called Beorn M'iaq Strong-Arm, with his first name being traditionally given to the the first born son of the family. M'iaq is a common Khajiit name (Cf: last census of Elsweyr). He has his fathers bright blue eyes, and blond hair the shade of rich gold-brown ripe wheat. I have yet to to discover what his "moon-form" is, so am unable to say how much his impressive physique is due to his Nord heritage. His fur assumes the pale colouration, density and pattern of mountain sabre cats (an adaptation to the climate of Skyrim?).

The daughter looks much more human, and if indeed these hybrids are subject to the moons, I would venture her to be an Ohmes-Raht, but with the curious fact that she is digitigrade, whereas all available research shows that Ohmes-Raht are plantigrade.

Save for her more human appearance, she in many respects, she resembles her mother. Her fur (though it be shorter and finer in some parts) is the same shade of sandy brown. Her eyes are a vivid sapphire blue, leading to her name of Atahbah Steorra.

I will continue to update you with my findings as I can, and look forward to writing the eighth edition to Notes on Racial Phylogeny and Biology when I return to the Imperial city

I remain, your humble servant, and dedicated friend,

Gaius Quintillus Varo

I write once again to furnish you with new findings, as I promised in my previous correspondence.

The night of my arrival, I repaired to the local inn to refresh myself and to see what gossip and information I might glean from the people.

Naturally, the sight of an Imperial mage caused some disquiet but then a patron was heard to mutter to his fellows that I must the one come to see the Jarl's children. My identity being thusly clarified, they went back to their business.

I ordered a plate of roast Horker and an Ale from the bartender, who was an Imperial herself. Sensing an opportunity, I struck up conversation by asking what a fellow Imperial was doing in Skyrim. Having built up rapport, I raised the subject of the Jarl.

"Jarl Folcwine? The Strong-Arm family has been here for generations, and they've always done right by Falkreath - and he's no exception."

I then enquired as to whether people objected to having a Jarl with a Khajiit for a wife.

"Oh sure, some did - probably still do. But the Lady S'fara is a good woman, a capable warrior, a generous soul and a wonderful mother. Most everyone has taken to her." was her response.

And what of the children? I asked; would not the son eventually become Jarl? Could they ever accept a half-breed Jarl?

"Beorn? He's a right mischief maker! Headstrong and boisterous. People say he's like his late uncle who died during the war. Whether he'll become Jarl or not depends on the Hold-Moot, and of course, he may not accept or want the title."

"And the daughter?" I probed

" She is utterly adorable, and her voice is amazing - so sweet and melodic. Everyone loves her."

She then motioned for me to lean in, and then said consiprationally " You know - when she was a toddler, high king Ulfric came to visit, and he spent a whole hour fawning over her, when he was supposed to be discussing important matters with her father."

I dared not risk any more questions, lest I arouse too much suspicions, so I took my meal and left.

As ever, I am your humble servant, and dedicated friend

For the Glory of the Empire!

21st Rain's Hand

I send this final letter ahead, in order that you may begin work post-haste.

Through several audiences with the Jarl Foclwine and his family, I have been able to answer many of the questions I raised in my first missive, but in their place came new ones.

Firstly, the issue of whether Khajiit and Men are biologically capable of breeding is still unclear. It is generally assumed that Khajiit were originally a race of Mer akin to the Bosmer changed via the power of Azura (worshipped as Azurah by the Khajiit). As to if that change altered them to the point where they no longer counted as Mer is debatable. On first impressions I was sure that the fact that there were two children who were most certainly hybrids must remove all doubt. But in passing, the Lady S'fara called them "Azurah's Blessings" and confided that she believed that the patron Goddess of her people may have ensured that she was able to bear her Nord husband children. Time will only tell whether these children are capable of reproduction themselves and with what species.

But in better news, I am able to answer whether the children are affected by the moons, as full Khajiit are. The answer is an unequivocal yes. Beorn M'aiq is a Cathay-raht, and his sister is Ohmes-raht. The hybrid nature of the children may have affected the process of the adoption of their moon-form, as I have already intimated. Neither of them conforming to the established physiology of their respective types. Regardless, they are clearly healthy, and I can find no evidence that they suffer or have suffered any maladies or illnesses not common to all children.

The Jarl most graciously allowed me to make a sketch of his family, which I think would merit being made into a proper portrait by a suitably talented artist for the sake of prosterity.

I shall finish here, as the hour is late, and I set out early tomorrow morning.

Your humble servant, and dedicated friend,

Gaius Quintillus Varo
