Kodi waded through the thick snow of the forest, striding expeditiously between snow-covered spruces and bushes and over crackling icy puddles. He walked quickly, not quite sure where he was heading or where he wanted to go. Nor did he really care. He just wanted to walk, walk quickly through the night and clear his head. A cold wind swept in from over the frozen lake, reminding both dogs that they were still out in the middle of nowhere.
