Force Your Love
Chapter 38
Etienne was soon to realize that he liked Taiga. Her family too. The next morning, he awoke to find they had laid out bear skins for him to wear. He quickly dressed and entered the front room for breakfast. Around the fire sat Taiga, Asres, Feven, and the elderly fox who'd sat on the throne the night before.
Etienne was quick to discover that the elderly fox was Tesrit, father of Taiga and Asres and leader of Clan Maret. Beside him sat an elderly female fox named Genet, a gracious and even imperious old vixen with haughty, snapping brown eyes. Genet was wrapped in brown bear fur and a deerskin dress, and her black mane was adorned by a single black feather. At her side sat three young females, all adolescents, very pretty, and Taiga and Asres' younger siblings. The girls were named Malet, Menen, and Mosu, and all three seemed to be burning with jealousy that ungrateful Taiga had been chosen to bed the "god dog." They spent breakfast fluttering their lashes at Etienne, giggling, and accidentally-on-purpose brushing them with their fluffy tails. Etienne might have screamed sexual harassment if he wasn't enjoying it all.
Taiga was wearing a deerskin dress not unlike her mother's, and around her shoulders a brown bear skin was wrapped. She seemed different that morning. Where before she had worn no jewelry aside from the bone in her nose and her mane had been a wild mess, now her mane was neatly brushed into a bun and her throat was adorned with shells. She ate with dignity and poise, often pausing to frown at her giggling, flirting sisters. Her brother seemed to be her favorite sibling, as she and Feven fairly doted on the young prince. The family couldn't stop talking with pride of Asres' pending rise to Seer status and Taiga's recent marriage to the dog god.
After breakfast, Feven escorted elderly Tesrit and Genet to the throne room, where they would hold audiences all morning. Asres went with them, avoiding Etienne's eye when he tried to catch his glance. Etienne knew he would have to corner the young male later. Asres knew something about Azrian, and Etienne had to know what.
Taiga shooed her younger sisters from the burrow, and the three girls made faces at her as they departed - but not without flashing their tails and jiggling their breasts for Etienne's benefit.
Left alone with Taiga in the burrow, Etienne watched as the beautiful female strapped on her weapons. It reminded him of Azrian taking up her spear every morning to hunt, and he must've looked sad, for Taiga smiled at him sympathetically and said, "I'll be right back, you know."
"No . . ." Etienne came up behind her and hugged her tight. "Don't leave me alone here."
Taiga laughed softly and set her bow aside again. "Gotten used to me, have you?" she said, closing her eyes and smiling as Etienne squeezed her in his strong arms.
"No. It's just . . . I'm afraid someone'll eat me while you're gone."
Taiga laughed. "They wouldn't dare! Do you know what it was like, watching you fall from the sky? They fear you, the god dog." She broke from his arms and went to the fire and sat.
Etienne stood over her a moment, watching the content way in which she hummed and piled her mane atop her head. Since they made love the night before, she had been doing a lot of that lately: humming, smiling, playing in her mane. Their night together had left her glowing and happy. It almost pained him to think that he would make her feel this way . . . and then run off to find Azrian. For it was clear to him at once that she had never been in love before. And as much as it pained him to face the truth . . . she was probably in love now.
It was something Etienne had never fully grasped. In all her scheming and plotting, Corene had made certain to take Etienne's virginity. It was her attempt to make him love her, to make him remember her pleasantly, always, and in that way. But it didn't work. At the end of the day, a hateful bitch was still a hateful bitch. And Etienne had not forgotten the bullets he'd taken to his chest because Corene thought she was being rid of Azrian. Oh no. It was all the more reason that he must find his way back to Azrian. But he couldn't do that until he knew where the hell he was.
Etienne cleared his throat and sat beside Taiga, plucking a flower from the nearby display and twirling it idly in his fingers. "So . . ." he said awkwardly. "It's a lovely day in this . . . place. Wherever we are." He placed the flower behind her black ear and she laughed.
"Etienne," she said, smirking at him.
Etienne looked off innocently. "What?"
She took the flower from behind her ear and tickled his nose with it. "If you want to know where we are, just ask."
Etienne snorted. "And you'd tell me? Just like that?"
Her eyes were large and loving when she smoothed her paw over his knee. "You are my husband now."
Etienne sighed and tried to ignore the guilty pang throbbing in his chest. Love had made her a fool already. How could one night of pleasure do that to a beast? But he thought of that first time with Azrian . . . and he stopped wondering.
"You dwell in the heart of the MihretForest," Taiga said, looking down at the flower as she twirled it in her fingers. "A forest touched by the goddess Maret and seared by her gaze. That is why nothing grows but for under the ground . . ." So saying, she waved her slender fingers over a cluster of nearby flowers, and Etienne realized he hadn't plucked the flower from a display but from the earth.
"Meeeeret," Etienne tried, and Taiga laughed. "What's that translate to in common tongue?"
Taiga went very still, and Etienne knew he had aroused her suspicion. He rubbed his ears.
"I mean . . . for curiosity's sake?"
"Why?" Taiga demanded, her brown eyes hurt. "So you can run back to the doglands and your pretty Azrian?"
Etienne couldn't believe it when her voice choked with a sob. Her lip poked out and she went on, "They say you loved her desperately, that you laid eyes on her and pledged yourself to her side. They said that maybe you would look at me and love me . . . but I pulled you out of the river, and you looked at me . . . and coughed up blood."
Etienne rested his elbows on his knees, watching her sympathetically from the corners of his eyes. "Taiga . . ."
"I knew you'd never love me," she went on miserably, "and that is why I hated you. That humiliating moment when you looked at me and didn't care . . . I was the laughingstock of my tribe . . . as I have always been." She jerked her chin angrily. "They value a female by how highly a male values her! The prettier you are, the more you are worth, and the more respect you earn as a princess! But no male has ever wanted me." She bowed her head again and a tear slipped down her nose.
Etienne frowned sadly and placed his paw over hers. "That's not true."
She lifted her eyes to his face and her lashes fluttered in surprise to see the friendly smile there.
Etienne removed his paw and looked away. He laughed, "Besides, I'd just come from another plane of existence and had funny things done to my head, if I'm to judge my hazy memory correctly. I was out of it. The last thing I wanted to do when I crawled out of that river was fall in love."
"You didn't crawl out," she teased.
Etienne smiled. "Alright. The last thing I wanted to do when you pulled me out of the river was fall in love."
Taiga laughed. "That's better."
They fell silent, and Etienne thought of his mother, whose face he'd seen in what at the time had felt like his last desperate moments of life. It truly felt as if he was drowning, as if he was sinking away . . . then Evelyn reached down from the sky. And he could swear it was her. In that moment, he felt as if his mother was watching over him, that perhaps she had always watched over him. If he could die and go on to live as a god in Skkye, why couldn't she? Stranger things had happened.
"So . . ." Etienne cleared his throat. "You've never been with a male . . . why? I mean . . . you aren't ugly. I don't know what's the issue with the males around here. They're either blind or stupid."
Before Taiga could respond, big Feven burst into the burrow, breathless and suspicious and nearly taking off the door. He halted with eyes narrowed to see the two of them. Etienne saw him glance around, and it suddenly occurred to him that he had expected to find someone else there.
Taiga lifted her brows in surprise. "Feven? My sisters aren't here, if that's who you're looking for."
Feven nodded, nostrils flaring like a bull. He shot Etienne a glare and then marched from the burrow again, slamming the door behind him so that pots rattled on the shelves.
Etienne looked at Taiga in amazement. "What's the deal with your family and Feven? I'd say he was related if I didn't think he had a bone for your brother."
Etienne was surprised by how flustered Taiga became. She sputtered. Her lashes fluttered and she averted her eyes and adjusted her mane and didn't seem able to look at him. Finally, she dropped her eyes to the flower in her fingers and whispered, "You mustn't speak of it!"
Etienne laughed. "Why? Your brother takes it under the tail. No shame in that --"
"My husband!" she cried, looking at Etienne in amazement.
Etienne laughed again. "You can call me Etienne, you know."
Taiga looked away, scowling at his laughter. "My brother wishes to give himself to the sacred duty of a Seer. That means he must remain celibate. It's preferable that he also remain a virgin, but the goddess Yfel has been known to bend the rules."
Etienne laughed. "_Bend_the rules."
Taiga laughed too. "Shut up!" she cried, elbowing him. "You are like a little cub." She looked away irritably. "Anyway, if you must know, Feven is our royal bodyguard. He protects the purity of the princesses, as well as my brother. He sees you as trouble because it seems all my siblings want you."
"Uh huh," Etienne said, unconvinced. "And it has nothing to do with him wanting to fuck Asres --"
"My husband!" Taiga cried.
Etienne laughed. "So this is going to be our routine. I say something utterly shocking to your maidenly dignity and you scold me. Oh, the golden years to come." He sighed with laughter.
Taiga glanced at him fondly. "My brother is pure for his coming rites and shall remain pure. And our family owes that to Feven. He has kept temptation at bay and all those who would turn my brother's head."
"I bet he has," snorted Etienne. "If you ask me, males don't stay away because you're ugly. They stay away because Feven will snap their dicks off like twigs."
Taiga gasped. "_Must_you use such language?"
"I must."
"But aren't you a prince of the doglands?"
"And a dirty prince," Etienne teased and tickled her ear.
She laughed and squirmed away. They fell silent, and she looked up at him with large, smiling eyes. Etienne went still when she closed her paw over his. "I . . . want you to love me."
Etienne looked at her sadly. "I can't just give that to you, Taiga."
Her lip trembled. "Try. I love you."
Etienne hated to see the sadness in her eyes. He tried to look away, but she pushed him down to the floor. In seconds, her deerskin dress was up, and she had yanked open the front of his bear skin pants. He sputtered and protested, "Taiga - mmpfh!" She grabbed his wrists and slammed them above his head, and he lay beneath her, watching her young, strong body twisting as she rolled her hips on top of him. The heat of her, the moisture made him harden inside her, swelling up until his shaft had pulled her lips taunt. Her lashes fluttered to feel him filling her, then her eyes hooded, and still pinning him down, she rode him deeply and slowly.
Etienne swallowed hard as he watched her, wishing she would at least take the dress off if she was going to do this to him. "Mm . . . T-Taiga . . . you can't force me . . . . to love . . ." His words were muffled when she leaned down and kissed him. She cupped his face and slid her tongue in his mouth, and he could feel her moist sex, clenching hungrily, massaging him steadily toward an orgasm. He clapped his big paws on her bare buttocks and helped her move on him, thinking that she was definitely going to force something else.
She grunted when he started slamming his hips up, punching himself in. Her lashes fluttered and she tried to pull back, but he held her close - then tugged her dress off in a sudden frenzy. Her breasts trembled free and her mane tossed loose of its bun as the dress was snatched away. Flustered and embarrassed, she tried to cover her breasts, but it was his turn to grab her arms. He pulled her down close and sucked her nipples, and her breasts flapped in his face as he punched himself in. She was small and thin and he had overpowered her in seconds. No more was he the kind, gentle lover of the night before. He grabbed her by the hips and slammed with all his strength, watching as her slender midriff snapped and bulged to take his erection. She tried to pull back again, so he let her, sitting up and taking her in his arms.
Trapped within the wall of his strength, her head fell back as his shaft fed in and out of her juices, thick, hot, and strong, holding her taunt, making her scream. Her legs were wrapped around him, her feet were flapping with every slam. He buried his face in her cleavage as she sobbed with arousal, and then he felt it . . . he was coming.
"Shit," Etienne whispered breathlessly. He tried to pry her off, but she held on, digging her nails in his back. "Ah! Taiga --!"
"No, don't," she hissed in his ear. "I have to have your god child . . . come inside me . . . I beg you!"
"Taiga - no!"
"Give it to me! Give me your seed!"
Gritting his teeth, Etienne grabbed her by the buttocks and pried her off his penis. He felt himself spring free, and as his erection flapped against the air, his white cum shot across the earthen floor. Crap. This vixen was going to be the end of him.
Taiga pulled back and looked at Etienne furiously. Before he had time to blink, she brought her paw across his face, and he felt his teeth cut his cheek.
"Don't you understand!" she yelled at him. "You are my husband now! Forget Azrian! You are mine! Mine!" She climbed up from his lap, glaring at him as she covered her breasts.
Etienne sat beside the fire with his pants open and his penis hanging out, pinching the flesh between his eyes. How, oh how, did he get in these messes?
"Why can't you just accept it?" Taiga demanded, a sob in her voice as she pulled her dress over her head. She paused to glare at him again, and he couldn't stand the tears in her eyes. "I'm going to have your child! I must!"
Etienne stared at the floor, suddenly unable to look at her. She stood over him, glaring as she smoothed her mane back into a bun. He had pulled out the night before as well, though she had been so tired and so in pain that she'd hardly noticed or cared. Now she was trying to force a child from him. And he couldn't let that happen.
"I am going to have Azrian's child . . . or something like that," Etienne said to her.
Taiga's lip curled in disgust. Now fully dressed, she marched out the door, snatching her bow and quiver on the way out. Etienne winced when the door slammed after her. A potted plant fell from a shelf and shattered.
