The Deepest Ecstasy

Chapter 56

Azrian screamed as the black winged male snatched her in his strong arms and carried her up and up, toward the moon, soaring farther and farther, until WychowlCastle was a tiny dot far below. He suddenly spread his wings and flew level, his black mane beating back in the wind, his serious glinting eyes narrowed as he carried her along. She huddled in the wall of his arms, her naked breasts smashed to his chest, and she felt trapped. She wriggled wildly against him, and the same horrified scream kept cutting from her mouth and across the sky.

Eventually, the male frowned and said wearily, "Stop screaming." His deep voice rumbled up from his chest and against her heart.

Azrian hiccoughed herself silent. Her eye filled with sudden tears as it tried to lubricate itself against the beat of the dry air. The tears trailed away on the wind as she peered at the male through the red streaks of her flapping mane. "W-Who . . .?"

"What does it matter? I'm about to kill you."

Azrian glared. The sea stretched beneath, black in the moonlight, and glancing over her shoulder, she could see the moon reflected on the rippling water. If he dropped her and she failed to fly, as least she'd hit the water. She had moved her leg and was two seconds from kneeing him when he growled, "I wouldn't do that, were I you."

"Well, you're not me!" Azrian shouted and kneed him anyway. Hard.

He grunted and took a sharp breath, hissing through his fangs as her knee connected with his soft penis. He was wearing a long, trailing white loincloth, and the fabric slapped her leg as she dug her knee in. He let go and hunched midair, cupping himself and grimacing.

Azrian's red wings spread as she tumbled across the sky, and she caught herself and turned, gliding smoothly around until she was hovering upright. She glanced up and gasped: the big black fox was coming for her. His narrow eyes peered down at her angrily, and then he dove.

She darted out of his path as his big paws snatched, and she felt like a little bird darting from a hawk. His paw caught her tail as she was slipping away and her fangs clicked when he pulled. She tasted blood, and scowling, she crushed his face with her foot. He grunted and let go, but she had barely gotten away before he was reaching again. Her heart fluttered when he caught her ankle, then the other. And he was strong. She strained to escape, her wings fluttering frantically, but he grunted angrily and held on. She looked down to see him scowling. He yanked on her legs and she tumbled down and into his arms. Her back hit his hard chest, and her wings were crushed as he locked his big arm tight around her waist, lifting her big breasts higher.

"Be still," he hissed angrily.

But she struggled with trembling breasts. They flapped everywhere when she elbowed him in the face and broke free, flying high and away. He shouted in pain, massaging his eye as he lunged after her and reached for her again. This time, he caught her by the mane and yanked her back. She screamed as her head was forced back, as the pain burned through her already-torn scalp, as her big breasts were thrust to the sky.

He snatched her in his arms and soared again, but she struggled, scowling and twisting to get free. Her elbow stuck his face again, this time connecting with his mouth. But he didn't let go. She kept twisting, and she was horrified when he savagely bit her neck. Her face twisted and she screamed, reaching back to claw at his eyes. Her nails found his cheek and dug in, dragging down in parallel lines of blood. He whimpered and stopped biting her, and she sagged in his arms. She could still feel his pinpoint fangs in her neck, and it ached terribly. It was a wonder his teeth hadn't drawn blood.

It took her a moment to realize he had stopped flying. He was hovering in place, holding her, his wings flapping lazily. She glanced back to see the blood running down his face, but he didn't even seem to notice. His eyes . . . were on her naked breasts.

"No," Azrian whispered when his big paw cupped one.

He ignored her and hefted her breast in her paw. His fingers slowly flexed in its softness, and they watched as her nipple stood out hard from his touch. He slowly licked her neck where he had bitten her, and then he was licking harder, hungrier, until she was trembling. Her lashes fluttered when she felt the sudden slap of his erection against her tail. And it was massive.

"Stop!" Azrian screamed. She reached back, grabbed him by the neck, and flung him away from her like an empty sack. And as she watched him shrinking away in the distance, she was flabbergasted by her own strength. She remembered the way Hellene had thrown her, and suddenly, she understood how strong she could be. If only she would dig down and embrace it.

Azrian rubbed her aching neck and tears were filling her eye when she saw the creature soaring back to her. His glinting eyes were hungry now, and he seemed determined that he should snatch her again.

This time, she decided not to run. She hovered there, glaring, waiting for him, and when they were face to face, he made a snatch - and she punched him in the mouth. His head snapped back and he spit blood, but he shook it off as if he was wet and came at her again. She screamed when he backslapped her, and her wings fluttered as she struggled to stay airborne.

Her head cleared as his grabbed her wrist. She lifted her paw to strike him, but he caught it, and now he had her by the arms. Her breasts were jiggling everywhere as she pulled to get free. He stared at them a moment, then yanked on her wrists, tugging her into his embrace as he soared again to the stars.

"I am going to make such love to you," he whispered.

Azrian broke free again, wildly and angrily. As she tried to get away, he grabbed her leg, then her tail - then his paws grabbed her wing and wrenched it to the side. Azrian screamed as her wing broke, crumbling in his fingers like a twig. He watched with narrowed eyes as she sank away from him, her uninjured wing flapping frantically.

The water was coming up fast, and Azrian reached for it, the wind beating back her mane and snatching tears from her eye. She hit the water . . . but didn't break through, instead falling flat on the surface. It wasn't unlike hitting the mud, and she sputtered weakly as she dragged herself up on paws and knees. Her broken wing hung bloody and limp over her side, and she reached back to touch it gingerly, more tears in her eye.

There was a soft splash, and looking down between her thighs, Azrian saw the fox's feet slap the water. He landed heavily on the surface - then came running at her across it. Before she had a chance to get up, he had grabbed her broken wing and squeezed it to make her still. She trembled and sobbed, and he stopped touching it.

"You're beautiful," he whispered in awe. "I had to break it . . . I couldn't let you get away . . . You stir in me . . . such desire . . ."

She felt his paws smoothing over her buttocks. He pealed them apart with his thumbs to look at her sex. Trembling and pained, she looked back at him over her shoulder. His erection was poking behind his loincloth and it was as big as it had felt up in the air. He was looking at her with silent longing, his brows pinched in a frown.

"I will make it quick," he said softly, "after I have made love to you."

Azrian's response was to kick him in his erection. "Ah!" He crumpled, his body crashing through the surface and into the water. Suddenly weary, Azrian collapsed on the surface, and felt her body break through as well. She let herself float down and down, and through the flurry of bubbles, she could see the black fox, grimacing as he clutched his aching erection. But he looked at her . . . and seemed to forget his pain. And the look in his eyes . . . Why was he looking at her like that?

Azrian looked at her own paws in confusion and gasped to find the little cuts and bruises were gone. She watched the bubbles drifting from her mouth and realized she could breathe underwater. And her body . . . it was tingling. All her aches and pains were receding. The cut on her head was sealing up, disappearing as if it'd never been there. Her broken wing was restored. And she felt ten times stronger. She felt like herself again. _ _

Her head snapped around as she looked at the male, who was watching her in awe, his mouth open. He didn't make a move to snatch her. The water had made her strong enough to fight him, and he floated there as if he knew, his muscular body flexing as he cupped himself.

She looked at him and realized for the first time that he was damn beautiful, his black mane twisting around him, his pretty narrow eyes drinking her in, his broad shoulders and rippling belly. . . .

Reborn of the water,_said a voice into her mind. His voice. _But of course you are. You are the daughter of the water.

Azrian opened her left eyelid and was saddened to realize that all her injuries had healed but for her eye. She covered her shriveled eyelid with her paw.

And how could you heal what isn't there? said the male's voice into her head. He began to swim to her, and she floated there, watching as he came. And, god, he was beautiful. When they were face to face, he hovered a little beneath her, and she had to look down at him.

Who are you? she asked into his mind.

His lips curled in a slight smile. Whoever you want me to be.

She frowned. Answer me.

I am Sinte, god-touched child of Zihma, born in agony to she who weeps. I was sent by her. To kill you.

Azrian's face darkened. The black fox stiffened when she grabbed him by the throat -- and lifted him lightning quick above her head. He struggled, his throat flexing against her squeezing paw. She looked up at him with narrowed eyes.

Why did she send you? Why kill me?

She . . . has sided with . . . Ayni, he choked. They don't want . . . fox kingdoms . . .. res. . . resto . . .

Restored? Azrian laughed softly into his mind. We can breathe underwater, and yet . . . I am choking you?

Crushing . . . throat. . . . His chest heaved helplessly.

Azrian didn't loosen her grip. Yes. Hurts, doesn't it? she mocked. She noticed his erection was going down. With sudden curiosity, she reached up and closed her fingers on his loincloth.

Wait . . . he begged.

Azrian smiled: he sounded embarrassed.

You didn't wait when you were groping me.

I was going to kill you anyway. Why respect you?

Perhaps I'll kill you.

Stop . . . please. I'll do anything you like.

Anything?

Yes.

How about not trying to rape me? Or kill me?

I promise. Just don't . . . tear it off.

Azrian smiled mischievously . . . then tore his loincloth away. He hunched his body on reflex, as if that would hide him. The cloth floated in shreds in her fist as she stared at his long, thick penis. It swayed, slapping against his thigh in the water's current. His big paws actually fumbled to cover it. She laughed at him and let him go, watching as he tumbled away toward the ocean floor. He was cupping himself and trying to hide as he floated down and down. She let herself sink in time with him, and her golden eye crinkled up, silently laughing at his shame.

They floated for a long time. And it was peaceful to drift along, in the darkness, in the swirl of bubbles. Azrian could see fish flitting in the distance, seaweed swaying with the current. The flow of the water seemed to beat in time with her heart. And she thought it was like the night Ti'uu enfolded her in his wings.

Azrian frowned as a thought occurred to her. Why do they want the dogs to rule?

Sinte smiled at her sadly. You think a life among the dogs is better for the foxes?

Azrian scowled. And a life in the forest, in the dirt, is ideal?

Imagine for a moment if all you desired came true. If the foxes conformed to dog society, took trades, lived side by side with dogs. They would naturally be regulated to ghettos and live as second class citizens, while the various tribes would split into smaller factions and continue to fight each other. They would suffer for a lack of education, become criminals and slaves to an endless cycle of poverty. Is that what you want for them?

Azrian blinked. She didn't know what the hell to say. And suddenly, it hit her again that the system Donica had been fighting for - and thus Ayni - was a system that was ultimately better for foxes. Her methods would not have made things better for her own. Her methods would have made things worse. Ti'uu's methods would have made things worse. But . . . could she rebel against her father? Wash her paws of it? Could she walk away and let all of it have been for nothing?

And the Hunt would continue, only illegally and in secret, Sinte went on. Foxes would be abducted from the streets, forced to run through mazes in secret buildings or through hedge mazes at garden parties, where dogs would hunt them for sport and for their pelts. Zihma does not want that for them.Ayni does not.

But . . . Azrian cast her eyes down. Ti'uu is the god of preparation . . . He would know if that would happen to them . . .

Of course he would know, said Sinte, laughing into her mind. It just so happens that he thinks it's better. He is not as wise as he believes he is. And for a god of planning, his plans always seem to backfire. He laughed again and shook his head. _Don't you even yet understand the nature of the gods? Their duality exists as a part of their very nature. My mother Great Zihma is goddess of despair but values joy above all else, while her sister Eden acknowledges the validity of despair, even as she sings her songs of ecstasy. Ayni's fire brings death and destruction where she walks, but she values life above all, and thus, fights to protect the foxes from falling again. Her First Children. _

. . . and Zuu'ma? Azrian whispered.

Sinte smiled. Zuu'ma the banished, cast down to Aonre for attacking Ayni in a fit of envy. She is the goddess of love but can hate like no other.

Azrian stared at him as they continued to float down and down. A fit of envy?

Ayni and Ti'uu were lovers . . . They say they are brother and sister . . . but that is like saying the sea is the sister of the land. They are spirits, beings of element and energy.

And you . . . how old are you? You seem to know . . . so much more than I do, she admitted. And indeed he did. He looked as young as she, but his eyes . . . they were old.

Sinte's narrow eyes studied her a moment, and it was clear he hadn't expected that she would take an interest in him. He turned his face away, and his mane floated around his eyes to obscure his black ear. I have lived most of my life in Skkye. The gods create beings like us so we can walk where they can not, so they can send us forth to do their bidding. Zihma could not come here personally to kill you . . . so she sent me.

Do you still want to kill me?

He slowly looked at her. If I wanted to, you'd be dead.

Not if I killed you first.

Your father has healed you, daughter of water. He has made you as strong as me - not stronger.

And yet, you still fear me.

He glared at her. Yes.

But you still want me.

He swallowed hard. Like a tree thirsty for rain . . . I feel my roots . . . reaching . . . He glanced down at his penis, which he was still covering with his paws.

Azrian laughed into his mind. That was eloquent. What are you going to do now? Won't Zihma punish you?

No, he said, looking at her indignantly. My mother loves me. I am no minion but her son.

Oh. I'm sorry. She won't even spank you, at least?

Azrian saw him trying not to smile.

Come closer, he said. I'll spank you. He looked at her with his hungry gaze, and her lashes fluttered. She looked away.

I lay in wait a long time. Watching. Waiting to see if Hellene would finally finish you off. She was going to. But she was taking her time about it. She seized the throne. She announced that you had murdered the queen along side Primus, that both of you had covered it up. The public is in an uproar against foxes, which is exactly what Ayni and my mother desire.

Azrian scowled.

But Hellene decided she would not execute you publicly, as that would make you a martyr like Nadheertia before you. She didn't want the public to see you beautiful and crying, on the end of a rope, a helpless pretty thing, and rethink their anger toward you. She was going to have you executed, quietly, in your cell.

That I walked out of.

_Yes. And then I took you. _

If I let you live . . . ?

He looked away. Yes?

You would just go back to Skkye? Or would you . . .?

I wish to go where you go, he said, his eyes still cast down.

Azrian looked at him in surprise a moment. But . . .you can't. I love another.

Sinte lifted his eyes. Is he like us?

No.

Then it will not last.

Azrian glared.

You will outlive him. And long after he is did, you will still be young and beautiful. And when his bones are dust -

Shut up.

-- you will weep and look for one who is like you. One who is like me -

I SAID SHUT UP! she roared and lunged through the water at him.

He barely blocked before she had walloped him in the face. He tumbled in a flurry of bubbles through the water, his black wings pushing like a shadow, his mane billowing. She grabbed him by the throat and lifted him again, slamming him hard into a tall pillar of misshapen rock. He grabbed her by the arm and flipped her away. She spun blindly through the water, and when she stopped, she was in his arms. Her back slammed his chest, and her mane tumbled in her face, as his big arms closed tight around her, squeezing her. She wriggled angrily.

Your love, he whispered into her mind, may be alive. But he is nothing like you. He is beneath you and can never be worthy of the goddess that you are -

SHUT UP! she sobbed angrily, wildly. She kept twisting and it was making her breasts jiggle. He held her tighter and didn't let go.

Why are you crying? Because I'm right? Because it's true? He is mortal. The longer you are apart from him, the more likely it is that he will find another, one that can spend a lifetime with him, and he will move on.

No!

And if you love him . . . you'll let him go.

Azrian slowly stopped fighting. The tears kept filling her eye, and she watched them floating away through the water.

Let me go.

Sinte obeyed. His strong arms released her, and he floated back, his wings flowing smoothly through the water.

I knew the moment I wanted you, he said into her mind, that it would cause me the deepest despair. And the deepest ecstasy.

Who cares what it causes you? she snapped, her back to him.

I care greatly. I am me, after all.

Azrian didn't answer. She turned smoothly through the water and swam for the surface. The moon shone bright above, a great white disk, rippling on the water. She swam toward it, her mane flowing back, her ears flat, her tail twisting against the current. She could hear Sinte following but didn't look back at him.

She broke the surface hard, her mane snapping back and big breasts thrusting to the sky, and she tread water, trying to catch her breath, her mane in her face. A gentle paw pushed it back for her, and she could see Sinte. The water slicked his black fur to the hard muscles of his chest, and his long black mane was draped heavily around his ears and over one of his slanted eyes. He looked at her softly and whispered, "I'm sorry I hurt you."

She looked in his eyes and couldn't decide if he meant the fight . . . or the things he'd said about Etienne. Perhaps he meant both.

"Go be sorry elsewhere," she said to him. She tried to swim past him, but he blocked her. She scowled.

"I can't do that," he said. "I can't . . . go away."

Azrian glared at him. "Try." She slapped her paw on the water before he could speak, splashing him in his miserable face. Then she moved around him and swam away. She was pulling herself up on the water's surface when she heard him behind her. She glanced back, and he looked so sheepish and sad. His ears were back flat, and he stood slightly hunched, cupping his penis. Did he miss his loincloth that desperately?

Azrian ignored him and started walking across the water, toward land. It would be a long walk, but she didn't feel like flying. She missed walking on the water. She missed the smell of it. The gentle roar of it. The wet air.

She was smiling, relishing in the cool night air, when she realized Sinte was walking beside her. He looked so humble and sad compared to the fierce beast he had been mere minutes before that she laughed at him.

"What are you going to do?" he asked.

"I'm going back to Wychowl. And I'm going to kill Hellene."

He lifted his brows in surprise. "Really? After everything we discussed?"

"I didn't say I'd make myself queen of Varimore, just that I'd kill her. She has to pay. For Primus." Azrian scowled. "And my eye."

"And . . . Etienne?"

Azrian's lips parted in surprise. "You know about Etienne?"

"Everyone in Skkye knows about Etienne. He is the child of Hildrith'el, born of her magic," he said, as if she should have known better.

Azrian looked away. "Etienne will become king of Varimore. And I'll make sure Hellene is out of his way by the time he returns to Wychowl."

"You aren't going to fall into his big dog arms?" Sinte mocked.

Azrian glared at him, then looked sadly away. "Maybe you were right. Etienne will only live so long . . . and then he'll die . . . and I'll be alone. He deserves better, someone who can grow old with him. And I c-couldn't . . ." She touched a sad paw to her shriveled eyelid and couldn't bring herself to finish her sentence.

". . . couldn't let him see your face," Sinte said softly.

Azrian cast her gaze down. "Yes."

"I have seen your face," Sinte whispered. "And . . ." he reached over and took her paw. "It is beautiful."

Azrian snatched her paw away. "You don't mean that."

Sinte scowled. "I mean every word I say. And it's maddening how you do that!" He grabbed her arm and pulled her to a stop. They stood on the surface of the sea, looking at each other in moonlight.

Azrian stared at him uncertainly. "Do what?"

"Make me want you," he said, his face twisted in frustration. "More and more. With every word you speak. Defeated, frail, and beautiful," he whispered, touching the back of his fingers to her cheek, just under her missing eye. "But determined and strong. You could snap me like a twig . . . and it frightens me." He swallowed hard. "And at the same time . . . I just want to hold you and kiss you . . . and tell you it will be alright. You don't have to fight anymore, Azrian. It was always your choice . . . to walk away." He frowned sadly.

Azrian shied from his touch. "And what about you? You didn't have to obey your mother. You could have . . ."

"It was my choice to come here to kill you." He shrugged. "Maybe I was bored in Skkye."

Azrian laughed softly, and he took her laughter as his cue to lean in for a kiss. She scowled - and gave him a backslap so hard, he crashed through the water. Suddenly furious, she dove after him, and as he was tumbling away, she grabbed him by the throat and pushed him down further and further, her legs back as she jetted into him.

Down they flew. He grabbed her arm and tried to stop her. He almost succeeded, but she slapped his paw away and squeezed so tight on his throat, he gasped out bubbles. She shoved him all the way to the bottom of the sea and slammed him on the ocean floor in a thick cloud of sand.

She put both paws around his throat when she straddled him, kneeling over his body as the tears flowed from her eye. And she knew she wasn't really angry with him. She was angry at the world. She was angry at Ti'uu. She was angry that Etienne's mortality had already stolen him from her. She was angry that she had suffered so much and for so long and for what? A plan that was ultimately a terrible idea?

And Sinte just laid on the ocean floor, just laid beneath her and took it, as if he understood. She realized she was hurting him. Her face twisted up in a sob and she let him go, sinking down until she was lying on his chest. Her knees curled tight to his sides, and she wept against him desperately.

He hesitated and put his arms around her. His gentle fingers stroked her wings, soothingly, lovingly. She was surprised when he kissed her head. She sat up and put a warning paw on his throat, as if he had gone too far. He playfully lifted his paws in surrender, but his eyes were burning with desire, and she felt his erection gently slap her buttocks as they pressed to his belly.

Azrian swallowed hard. She looked him in the eye as she slowly raised her hips . . . and brought the tight sheath of her sex down over his shaft. His eyes hooded and his lips parted in a flurry of bubbles. Her paw was still on his throat as she slowly brought her hips up and down on him, and the gentle stroking of his thick shaft . . . feeding in and out of her clenching lips . . . . He filled her so deep and so wide, her head fell back, and bubbles escaped her mouth, carrying cries of deepest ecstasy that only the fish could hear.
