The main room, where Akio spends most of his day, is called the work area, and divided into two sections; the work bench, where Warp's tools are made by Akio himself, and the listening post with a state-of-the-art computer, a police scanner, and a radio and television that are always tuned to local news networks, where Warp can monitor happenings around the city while not out on patrol. Since Akio never leaves The Bunker, a fold-out cot is placed next to the listening post where he can sleep. The other two rooms are located at the back. The first is known as the wash closet, where a laundry and bathroom facilities can be found, tapped directly into the city's water main, and the base has its own hot water heater, powered by electricity. Formerly a Paramedic simply putting himself through University, working nearly twenty hours a day and possessing a knack for tinkering ever since he was child. Akio was driven to joining the Tokyo Police as a Forensic Scientist, and creating electronic devices that would revolutionize policing in Japan, until heforced into joining the Yakuza to pay off a debt owed to them by his father, who had declared bankruptcy and was promptly assassinated by the criminal organization. But they were not willing to let this debt go unpaid, and so at gunpoint, ordered Akio to put his inventive skills to use for them. Without a word to anyone who knew him, he simply disappeared from the world, and was shipped to Toronto, where he was put to work with the Kameyama family. He created tools for hacking computers and breaking open vaults and safes for the Kameyama family, allowing them to take their extortion racket in Toronto to a whole new level; those who didn't pay their protection fees were instead robbed of every cent they had. Those who resisted were slaughtered publically, sending a message throughout the city that the Yakuza were in control. For three years, Akio was forced to do this, and hated every moment of it, but there was nothing he could do. However, fortune smiled upon him, when The Warp appeared at the complex where Akio was kept prisoner. When he was approached by the vigilante, Akio told him of his plight and begged him for help; Warp rescued Akio from the Yakuza base, sealing a bond of friendship and gratitude between himself and Akio. Sadly, though, Akio had lost everything he owned back home in Tokyo, and had nothing to return to, not to mention technically being an illegal immigrant to Canada and a collaborator with the Yakuza, he was already a fugitive, leaving him nowhere to go. Akio offered his help to Warp, and in return for his acceptance, he presented Warp with everything he knew about the Yakuza and the Kameyama family; his evidence lead Warp straight to the leader of the operations in Toronto, Kameyama Takeo. Gratefully, Warp accepted Akio's offer, and together they built The Bunker in Toronto, and after Warp defeated and ensured the incarceration of Kameyama Takeo, the two joined forces indefinitely, and became the perfect team. Since then, Akio has developed many of the tools The Warp employs, including his costume, the nanotech infused mask that disguises him, and more; he is Warp's greatest ally, and from the diary of Daniel Tonraq we have this statement: "I may have been the one out in the field, putting my life in danger, but without Akio's brilliance, I would never have lived as long as I have on this crusade. He is my greatest ally and one of the best friends I could ever have."
