Ethan slept uneasy that night.

"How could I have been so stupid!" He kept saying to himself, regarding leaving his gaming microphone on while talking to himself about his relationship with his sister. It may have cost him his best friend.

Finally, he got to sleep and it felt like he just did so when the alarm went off. At least it was Friday.

Groggily, Ethan looked at himself in the mirror. The usual scruffy, morning fox stared back with half-closed amber eyes. He leaned over and shook his head, his lips and ears making a flapping sound as he did. He turned the cold water on, splashed some water on his muzzle and dipped his toothbrush. Adding paste, he started his morning ritual.

Elise walked in, equally as scruffy with puffy, lidded eyes. Walking past him as if he wasn't even in there, she lifted the lid of the toilet seat and seated herself with folded tail across her lap. The sound of a gentle trickle began its long awaited release from its overnight confinement.

She took a hand full of tissue and looked up at her brother, "Do you mind? Some privacy, please."

Ethan chuckled, "I was in here first." He said while foaming at the mouth with toothpaste.

Elise rubbed her head in frustration for a moment, then became awake enough to realize he was. She gave a little squeak and face-palmed. "Sorry."

Ethan laughed. "I'm glad you didn't have to crap!" He ended up spraying the mirror with foamy toothpaste.

He rinsed his mouth and brush. Tossing the brush in a glass, he wiped the mirror with a damp hand towel, streaking it and making it look worse.

"Flush later, I'm having my shower." He said, leaning over his sister and turning the shower taps on.

"And I 'drip-dry' here waiting for you?" She said, annoyed.

"No, silly." He smiled. He pulled the unused tissue out of her hand and tossed it in the waste basket. "You join me and we both... get clean."

"Ohhh." She smiled and stood up. "I've never showered with anyone before." She gave a giggle.

They left their apartment and locked the door. Elise had a dreamy look on her face and gave a twirl in the hallway.

"Nothing like that for waking up in the morning, huh?" Ethan said with a smile, tossing the keys up in the air and catching them.

Elise gave a sigh and took his arm as they walked to the elevator.

The morning was busy at the store and went fast. Both account holders and home improvement consumers were pleased by Elise's cheerful glow.

Before long it was lunchtime. Elise opened up a tea towel to reveal a roast beef sandwich, as Cerise daintily enjoyed a lamb confit. Elise dug in without her usual delicateness. "Damn, I'm hungry."

Cerise giggled, "You has lots of ze cheerful, bubbly energy today." She nibbled the lamb off the bone. "He ees making you happy, oui?" She picked up another piece and added, "Eet shows. You are ze radiant." She smiled and continued nibbling.

It had been over a month since Cerise found out about her and her brother. In that time, she never mentioned it. Elise had taken her friend Kiana's advice about her worries, to live each day as fully as she could, without fretting about tomorrow. Not only was she less stressed, but obviously it had an outward benefit to others. Her work performance was better, she had better sleep and to Ethan's delight, their sex life was second to none.

Elise wiped her face and smiled, "Thank you."

"Can I ask ze personal question, hm?" Cerise asked as Elise nodded, tying into her second half of the sandwich. "Will you two adopt?" She gave a shrug, "If you wants ze children."

That stopped Elise in her tracks. "Why do you ask?"

Cerise expressed with her hands, "Because that ees ze love. And you two have ze love to share."

Elise gave a scoff. "We're also only twenty. Even if I was with someone else, I'd want to live a bit, first."

"But of course!" Cerise said and cleaned up her desk from lunch.

Quitting time came and Ethan's dad with a tired face congratulated him and Terrance on a good day's work.

"Who would have thought this burst of activity in the winter?" His dad said. "I hesitate to order more, lest we get stuck with it until next year spring time. But stock is low..."

"Isn't that the shopkeeper's gamble?" Ethan said. "Why not get some popular stuff and back order the expensive."

His dad smiled, "You're learning and learning well! Head on home and we'll figure it out tomorrow."

"Will do." Ethan said, taking off his protective gear and wiping his forehead. "But first, to order pizza. I'm starved."

He went into the front office where the ladies were putting on their jackets. "What do you want on your pizza?" Ethan asked, picking up the phone.

"My, my. Beeg appetite. Bulking up for ze winter?" Cerise teased him.

"And after my 'heart attack special' lunch." Elise said, patting her stomach.

He looked behind him to confirm no one else followed him in from the warehouse. "Gotta keep those sexy cushions padded. I might damage you, otherwise." He patted his sister's ass, making her blush and Cerise giggled.

"Why don't you join us?" Elise asked, looking over at her brother who smiled and nodded. "You haven't been over since the housewarming."

"Oh, merci!" Cerise accepted, grateful. "We can go in my car, hm?"

"I'll make the pizza for pickup then. What do you want on yours?" Ethan asked and dialed.

Happily chatting, having little social interaction since moving out, the three arrived at Ethan and Elise's apartment. The three pizza boxes covered what meagre counter space they had and Elise got some plates while Ethan cleaned off the dining table that was a gift from their uncle.

A knock at the door caused them to pause for a moment. The girls continued chatting as Ethan answered the door. It was Al.

"Come in!" Ethan eagerly offered.

"Nah man, I don't want to interrupt." Al replied, looking in and seeing their guest.

Ethan slipped into the hallway and closed the door all but a crack.

"I've been trying to get hold of you." He said.

Al nodded, "I know, man. I just.... I dunno. I needed time to think."

There was an uncomfortable silence.

"Well?" Ethan said with frustration.

"Well?" Al said, taking a deep breath. "You weirded me out. All creepy like. Like... a fifty year old dude dating a fourteen year old type of creeped out."

Ethan looked annoyed at that comparison.

"But y'know, I'm from the south. Ain't as common as stories say, but ain't unheard of and I decided I don't want to end a good friendship just because you're sticking your dick someplace I wouldn't."

"Gee, thanks." Ethan said nonplussed.

"Well, that's how I feel. Figured I'd be a man and tell you in person." He shrugged. "Ball's in your court, dude." He turned and began to walk down the hallway to the stairs.

"Have you met Cerise?" Ethan called out just as Al began down the stairs.

He looked back and shook his head.

"C'mon." Ethan motioned for him to return. "Lots of pizza to go around."

Al had to duck upon entering the older apartment. Elise and Cerise were seated a the table and eating already.

"Oooo, la, laaaa!" Cerise's eyes lit up and she whispered to Elise, whose back was to the door. "Who ees ze visitor?"

Elise glanced over. "That's Al, a friend of my brother."

"Well..." Cerise said, wiping her mouth and hands. "He can be ze friend of mine!"

To say they hit it off would be an understatement. Simple introductions, small talk, laughter, trying to communicate in two very different versions of French, more laughter and Cerise was sitting on Al's lap before the evening was over.

"I think we should leaves ze couple in peace now, non?" Cerise giggled as it was coming on eleven PM.

"Wish I had my own place and could take you with me." Al said with a romance in his eyes.

Cerise smiled, "But I do haves ze place. You come with me, hm?"

A few words of poetry in Al's Cajun French whispered in her ear had Cerise in giggles. "Zat ees ze same in all French. Oui!"

They thanked Ethan and Elise for the dinner and left.

"Finally!" Ethan said, stretching his arms across the back of the sofa. "Those two all mushy, mushy were making me nauseous!"

"Oh come on, it was sweet." Elise smiled and lay across Ethan's lap. "Cerise hasn't had anyone in her life for a long time."

"Poor Al, he'll be mauled!" Ethan chuckled.

Ethan's comment wasn't far from the truth.

Cerise fumbled with the door to her duplex and as it opened, her and Al almost fell inside. Their hands were all over each other, feeling, fondling, groping.

Al was nearly twice as tall as Cerise, making things even more clumsy for them. They staggered to her bedroom where she fell on the bed frontward, pulling her skirt up. "Takes me from behind. I needs you deep!"

He removed his pants, but If he stood, he was too high. If he knelt, he was too low.

"There ees ze way!" Cerise said, flustered.

She stood and pushed Al down on his back. She hopped on him immediately, straddling him. She lowered herself onto his Great-Dane sized penis. Her face filled with pleasure and pain as she gave a moan and a yip.

Leaning over him with her hands on his chest, she began to rhythmically thrust with the fluidity of a belly dancer. Her pelvis quivered and she gave a gasp. "Zat ees the spot!" She smiled and began thrusting harder.

Al was hypnotized by the dance of her small circling breasts as she bounced and jiggled. He groped at and squeezed them, to her delight.

Her tight pussy massaged him to the edge of climax. His length had the tip of his penis being tickled by her cervix with each wild and increasingly rapid thrust. He could hold it in no more.

She snatched his hands tightly to her breasts, moaning in long-awaited pleasure. They climaxed together in a united release of tension that also had Cerise release a pent-up ejaculation that sprayed halfway up his belly.

She fell forward onto him, her head sideways on his chest. The sound of his pounding heart filled her large, sensitive ears. Her fluffy fennec vixen tail stuck straight up in the air. As she panted, it lowered with each breath until Al could feel the fur drape gently across his legs.

He wrapped his arms around her and stroked her sweat-soaked fur. "Been so long..." She said quietly. "To feel inside, ze tingle of love." She gave a gasp and quiver as another orgasm flowed through her body.

The new lovers quickly fell asleep in each others arms.

Elise woke up first. The chill of the room nipped at her little vixen nose and she dreaded the thought of getting out from under the warm blankets to turn the heat up.

She rolled over from her side facing away from Ethan to see if he was awake. Her movements made him stir and roll over on his back. He opened his eyes with a sigh. Looking over, he smiled. "Good morning."

"Morning." She said cutely. She looked down and giggled. His 'morning wood' was tenting the blankets.

He chuckled, "Isn't that what started this whole thing?"

"Uh-huh." She said as her hand reached beside her and glanced across his balls, making him smile.

"Yeah, went something like that." He said and pulled the blankets down, exposing his red, pointed fox penis with her tiny hand now playing with it.

She stroked it gently, just like she did that first night. He put his arm around her and gave a sigh, "Oh, yeah!"

His breath quickened and she felt it swell in her hand. He uttered a grunt as a stream shot out a fair height and landed on her arm. It was followed by several more, covering her hand in warm, slippery sauce.

She felt him shrink and slip out of her grip. "That's thanks for starting my day off well, yesterday." She smiled and kissed his cheek as he basked in the afterglow.

Now she had no choice but to get up. She knew if it dried on her fur, it would be murder to get out.

Ethan had fallen asleep for another hour. "What a beautiful Saturday!" He said to himself as he got up.

"You're awake!" His sister said cheerfully as she peeked in the door.

He turned around to see her smiling, wearing her favourite worn-out baggy tee shirt and damp hair combed out and draped across her shoulders. And nothing else.

"I'll make you breakfast today. You just relax." She said and disappeared from the doorway.

During the week, Ethan was often the one to put on the coffee and they normally had leftovers or cereal for breakfast. Each of them making their lunch the night before. But the past few weekends had been a treat for him as she got up first and made both of them breakfast.

"I could get used to this." He said to himself.

He gathered fresh clothes and left the bedroom. He saw Elise prepping a pan with some garlic butter. She had a carton of eggs beside the stove and a little radio playing her favourite pop station, a genre of music Ethan likened to 'cats in heat scratching their claws on a chalk board'.

He entered the kitchen and put his clothes on a stool that was at the end of the counter. He wrapped his arms around his sister from behind and kissed her. "Have I told you recently that I love you?"

She giggled And placed her hands over his, "First time today."

"You're spoiling me, you know. I could get used to this." He said and nibbled her ear. "Now I know how dad feels about mom."

"Well..." She said sweetly explaining, "You make a hundred thousand a year doing something and I'll play housewife."

"I wish I'd be worth that kind of money!" He sighed.

She turned around and gently tapped his nose, "Until then, we both have to be working slobs and enjoy your occasional treat."

He kissed her in appreciation and picked up his clothes and headed to the washroom.

"Oh and honey.." Elise called as Ethan stopped and turned. "Since I'm working too, I deserve treats now and again, hint, hint." She winked.

He looked confused, then assumed he guessed right. "You want me to make you breakfast in bed next weekend? Sure!"

Elise rolled her eyes. "No, spoil me. Take me places, show me things, buy me stuff."

"Ah." He understood, frowned and disappeared into the washroom, closing the door.

She giggled and said to herself, "Mom was right! Let him put you on a pedestal, then receive the offerings and tributes as the goddess of his hearth."

--

Al woke up and licked his lips with a smack. He lay on his side, spooning Cerise. But in his mind, he was at home holding his Comic-Con inspired body pillow. That was until he felt his 'body pillow' playing footsie with him.

He opened his eyes to see Cerise's scruffy hair, with her large ears twitching. "Oh man, right on! It wasn't a dream!" He said, his heart glowing.

The back of her head was level with his chest. She gave a big yawn and looked up at him with sparkling eyes. "Good morning, lover!"

Cerise had warmed them both a large croissant and opened a variety of jams in little jars, with name brands Al had never seen and labels he couldn't read. While he could speak French, he was only literate in English.

He took a sip of the small cup of coffee she served him and was instantly awake. His first experience with something called 'French espresso'. "Woah!"

"You do not like?" Cerise asked. "I can makes ze Americano coffee for you."

"It's just fine." He said truthfully. "Never tasted espresso like this before."

"Really?" She said surprised. "Ees shops all over town. Ask for ze European espresso."

"Yeah, but they give those non-regular coffees funny foo-foo names. Didn't want to try anything that had more whipped cream in it than a serving of pie." Al said, making Cerise laugh.

After they showered, Al gave an uncomfortable expression. "I guess, uh, we have to part. Will I see you again?"

"We do?" Cerise asked, feeling a bit hurt. "You do not wants to spend ze day with me?"

Al smiled, "I'd love to!" He rubbed his chin, "I just, don't really know how these things work."

Cerise gave a glowing smile and hugged him. "Oh, my! I am so privileged. Am I your first night away from ze parents house?" She shook her head, "But you are ze virgin, non. You make love OK for young one."

"Heh, nope, not a virgin. Was a jock in school. But first night away, yeah, kinda." He said shyly.

She took his arm, "Then let me treats you to a wonderful day. We explore ze coffee houses to warm up from ze romantic walk, hm?"

"I'd like that." He said as she smiled happily.

--

"I wonder how well Al did with Cerise. I bet she taught him a few things." Ethan chuckled as he helped Elise with the dishes after his morning shower. "I'dda never guessed her to be a cougar."

"She deserves some young fun." Elise replied. "She's had some nasty luck in the love department."

"How old is she anyway, thirty?" He guessed.

"Forty two." She said matter-of-fact.

"Woah!" Ethan said shocked. "She's twice Al's age. Rawr, cougar, RAWR!" He laughed.

He also laughed because of the irony of the comparison Al gave yesterday between him and his sister. He thought of bringing it up, but decided it was far too easy.

Elise smiled and smacked her brother with the tea towel. "Age is ze Anglo hangup." She said in Cerise's accent. "But yeah, she sure doesn't look it."

"Heck no." Ethan added. "I'd tap her."

She gave him a look. "You would probably tap a tap, if it fit, you horn dog."

Ethan's phone rang. "Hello? Oh hi! Yeah sure, that would be great! See you later."

Elise turned, "That call was too short to be Al?"

"It was Uncle Rick. He and Aunt Eugenia are going to bring over some stew for dinner." He said, rubbing his stomach.

"Saves us the trouble!" She said, not one to pass up a free meal.

Thanks to the gift of the expanding dining table from Uncle Rick, they had a place to put the enormous meal that Aunt Eugenia cooked up and overstuffed her niece and nephew with. The siblings looked as though they were going to be sick from eating so much as Eugenia continued to goad them into having some dessert.

"While I'm happy that you had us over for a Saturday dinner, I'm a little concerned about it too." Uncle Rick said as Ethan and Elise looked at each other confused and Aunt Eugenia face-palmed.

"Oh, do you have to, Rick?" She said. "Just let these young people be to enjoy their freedom."

"Oh stop yer worryin'." Rick said. "They just have to meet, he doesn't have to marry her."

"Ummm..." Ethan said nervous.

Elise's ears perked up, then folded back.

Rick continued. "Friend of mine that I haven't seen in fifteen years is a comin' to town to stay a spell. Lookin' to maybe invest. Now he has a daughter, cute little thing about your age. I said I had a handsome young, gainfully employed nephew. That's all."

Ethan joined his aunt in that face-palm. Elise's fur now stood on end, but she remained silent.

"Sorry Elise..." Rick said apologetically. "He don't have any boy. Just a daughter."

The room was quiet for a time when Rick smiled and added, "Which may be a might good, seein' if he did and everyone hit it off, it'd be two families married to their brother and sister. In-laws of course." He laughed.

Ethan exploded in laughter, getting a kick under the table from Elise and a blushing glare from Eugenia.

After cleaning up and an evening of visiting, Rick and Eugenia were leaving. Rick shook Ethan's hand and gave Elise a gentle hug. Eugenia gave her usual big auntie hug and as she gave one to Ethan, she whispered, "I'm so sorry. I didn't know he was going to do that." She gave him an empathetic smile and pat on his cheek.

"It's OK. I'll deal with it." Ethan whispered back, mindful of how Elise would feel.

As the door closed, Elise listened for the elevator door to close down the hallway.

"What the hell does he think he's doing?" She said angrily.

Ethan sighed as he flopped down on the sofa. "He's just being Uncle Rick. Remember how he always used to point out 'the fillies' as he called them to me when we were together?"

"Yeah, well, you aren't thirteen and this isn't your first day of high school." She said, expressing with her arms. Sitting beside him, she looked pained. "What are you going to do?"

Ethan shrugged, "I'll take her for a coffee and explain that this was all Uncle Rick's idea and that I have someone. Then Rick will be satisfied and she can tell her dad that we didn't click or something."

Elise nodded and smiled, "OK, that works for me."

He put his arm around her and pulled her close. "I saw how jealous you got. Fur standing on end."

"I couldn't help it." She said pouty. "You're mine. Don't want to share. Not yet. Not ready." Her heart was saying, "Not ever". Brother or not, she loved him with her body and soul.

"Aww, you're so sweet." He stroked her pouty face and kissed her nose. "Ours will be such a sweet first love, our standards will become so impossibly high and we get stuck with each other."

Elise giggled, "You know just the thing to say to make me feel better." She stretched up and kissed him.

--

Ethan's sound Sunday sleep-in was rudely interrupted by a mischievous Elise dumping the freshly laundered clothes on top of him.

"Mmmph!" He grumbled and scowled.

"Your turn, sleepy head." She smiled and flopped down on the bed beside him. "I pampered you yesterday, you fold and tidy the apartment today. Besides, I feel really tired already." She gave a wide-mouthed yawn and a little squeak.

He growled a deep, canine growl that gave her chills. Smacking his lips, "Another hour. It's Sunday." He said without even opening his eyes.

"It's also noon." She added.

"Still early. Lots of day."

Elise rolled her eyes. "Then you'll be up until four in the morning again, gaming while I'm trying to sleep. THEN, I'll have to drag you out of bed a few hours later for work!"

He groggily reached over and patted randomly on her body. "Where's the damn 'snooze' button on this nag-o-clock alarm?"

She gave a frustrated sigh and got up. "Fine, don't say I didn't warn you."

Ethan lay in bed for another fifteen minutes, but he just stewed. His mood for sleep ruined. He got up and stormed out of the bedroom, mentally 'tying his mouth shut', otherwise he knew he'd say something he'd regret.

"There damn well better be coffee" He muttered as he entered the kitchen.

There was. His mood lightened and he poured himself a cup. He sat down at the dining table and picking up his phone, looked to read the morning news.

*Ahem!*

The sound came from the sofa across the room that the dining table shared with the living room.

He turned to see sitting there with a big smile, Cerise. She was in the arms of Al, who had his head down, shaking it. On the chair off to the side was Elise. She had an innocent grin, but was blushing. "We have company." She said in a facetious manner.

Ethan, not knowing this, was having his Sunday coffee in the usual style he slept - naked.

The impulse to excuse himself and put something on was almost overwhelming, but he wasn't going to play into his sister's trick.

"Hey guys!" He said with a smile and toasted his mug to them.

Elise's smile was erased. "Don't you want to put something on?" She asked somewhat annoyed.

Ethan shrugged. "Cerise is French and it's nothing Al hasn't seen in the locker room in school." He casually sipped his coffee and went back to reading.

"Ha, dude!" Al said. "Going from sounding like a married couple to trolling each other like siblings. So creepy, but funny."

"He has ze nice penis, non?" Cerise whispered to Elise, but everyone could hear.

"Yes I do!" Ethan said smugly, looking over with a smile. "Glad you noticed." Cerise giggled.

"Uhhhhhhh...." Elise said nervously, standing up, her cheeks redder than her red-fox-fur. "We need you to keep from getting cold, honey." She said as she walked over to the door and got a jacket from a peg and returned to put it over her brother's shoulders.

Ethan looked over to Al and Cerise and winked.

"Owned." Al whispered to Cerise.

She giggled and whispered back, "Totally! He has less hangup."

"Does this mean we can't go to the nude beach?" Ethan said to his sister, who now gave him a frustrated look. "In this November weather, you and Cerise would have weapons for nipples!"

That was too much. Al, Cerise and Ethan burst out laughing.

Elise began to cry and ran into the bedroom.

Ethan felt an inch high. "Ah, shit. Guess we went a little too far."

Cerise and Al fell silent. She was visibly hurt by what they had done and Al looked ashamed.

"Dude, get her back. We'll apologize." Al said.

"I should talk to her." Cerise said, getting up. "Ees lady to lady."

Ethan waved his hand for her to go on in.

After she entered the bedroom, Ethan turned to Al, "She was so sweet yesterday and acted like a bitch today." He scratched his head, "How was she out here before I got up?"

Al shrugged, "Didn't notice anything, really. Her and Cerise were talking and I zoned out."

Ethan gave him a 'you're no help' look and waited hopeful Cerise would bring out a forgiving vixen.

"Why was he so mean?" Elise said as she cried in the pillow.

"You sets him up, non? He retaliate." Cerise said. "He go to far, maybe. He's sorry."

"I guess" Elise sniffled.

Cerise returned to the living room. "Wait a few minutes, then go in." She said to Ethan with her hand on his shoulder, then patted it before returning to the sofa.

"Sweetie, we should go." Cerise said to Al who nodded.

As they got up, Al held his hand up to Ethan, "Dude, don't get up."

They all chuckled.

Ethan said to Al as he passed, "I want to hear all about it." He winked.

Cerise turned and waved her hand, "Oh, do tell him. Leaves nothing out." They giggled like teenagers in love as they closed the door behind them.

Ethan sighed, slid the jacket off his shoulders and got up. He took what seemed a long, sorry walk to the bedroom.

Elise was sitting up, wiping her eyes.

"Honey, I am so sorry..." He said in a very apologetic voice.

She got up and threw her arms around him. "Let's just move on from this." She said and began to slide down his body.

Ethan grabbed her. Her eyes rolled and she went totally limp and fell.

"Elise!" Ethan shouted in a panicked voice. He patted her face a couple of times and she gasped.

"What was that?" She said barely above a whisper. "I feel so wea..." She began and threw up on Ethan's arm and coughed.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Ethan got scared. Something all of a sudden wasn't right.

He grabbed a pillow and placed it under her head and rolled her on her side. She was conscious, but didn't reply.

He ran to the dining table and grabbed his phone. Frightened and voice shaky, he called 9-1-1.

The Ambulance picked her up. He had quickly washed his arm and got dressed while they were loading her onto the stretcher. They let him ride in with them. He called his dad and explained what happened and to meet them at the hospital.

By the time his parents arrived, Elise was doing much better. They were holding her in the ER until the doctor got results from the tests.

"What happened to my little girl?" His dad asked, looking just as frightened as Ethan and his mom.

"From what I can tell, her blood pressure crashed." The doctor said, looking at the monitor and checking her eyes and reflexes again for the fifth time. "Why, I don't know yet."

"Could it be a flu? It is the season." Her mom asked, squeezing Elise's hand.

The doctor shook his head. "No fever. Mucous membranes normal and her lungs are clear. I doubt it."

"Doctor?" A nurse said, poking her head in from behind the screen.

"Excuse me." He said and left.

"How are you feeling now?" Ethan said, taking Elise's other hand.

Elise gave a big sigh. "Sleepy, hungry, cranky..." She said with a mixture of fatigue and annoyance. "I just want to go home!" She said in a whine and began to cry.

Ethan leaned over and held her. Remembering his parents were there, he did his best to hide his emotions.

Her mom scooped her upright and held her after he stood up again.

The doctor came back in the screened bed area. "Could you excuse us for a moment? I have to ask my patient some questions."

Her dad nodded and left, holding the screen open for the others to follow. Ethan and his mom reluctantly did so. The nurse escorted them to the waiting room.

"It's bad news?" Her mom said, now looking terrified.

The nurse smiled and shook her head. "The doctor will be with you in a moment."

"Now miss, I have to ask you some personal questions. It's part of my diagnosis." The doctor said as he tapped his clipboard and looked over his reading glasses at her.

Elise nodded.

"You're sexually active?"

She sighed and looked about the ceiling tiles, then nodded. "Yes."

"Stable, consensual relationship?"

"Yes." She replied more quickly. "Fully consensual."

He smiled and tapped her arm twice with his pen. Leaning over he whispered, "You're pregnant."

"I... huh, WHA?" She said with a beaming grin, yet her mind screamed.

The doctor winked and left the room.

The nurse came in, smiling. "Which relative should we send in first for the news?"

Oh, how the gravity of the situation sank in. What will she do? What will Ethan do? Did he mean what he said? What will her parents say? The nice, neat little house of cards shielding their relationship had just been blown away by a gust of biology.

She sat up and got angry with herself. "Stupid morning sickness. If it wasn't for you, I'd be hanging out with Kiana right now." She gasped. "Oh God, Kiana?" She put her hand on her mouth. "Cerise?"

"Elise?" The nurse asked, "Is everything OK?"

"Oh, yes!" Elise replied remembering the nurse was in the room awaiting her answer. "Please send in my brother."

The nurse exited the ER into the waiting area. The three snapped up like soldiers would when a superior officer entered the room.

"My little girl?" Her dad asked.

"Will be fine." The nurse said. "She's asked for her brother."

"Ethan?" Dad said, surprised and a little hurt his little pumpkin didn't ask for him.

"Ethan?" Mom said, surprised given thy had typical sibling rivalry until a few months ago.

"Me?" Ethan said and smiled. He followed the nurse in.

She led him to Elsie's room and left them in private.

He went to her side and took her hand, kissing it. "Hey." He said and stroked her ears and hair.

"Hey." She replied with a grin.

"So, what's the verdict?" He asked anxiously. "Are you going to live?"

She looked down and rubbed her belly with her other hand. "Yes, we will." She smiled.

It took a moment for it to click in. Ethan's face lighted up in a supernova of joy. "You mean?"

Elise nodded with a smile echoing her brother's and began to cry again. "Yes!"

Ethan wrapped his arms around her, overwhelmed with emotion, cried loudly adding, "I love you! ..... I love you!"

A muted applause was heard from the nurses at their station, along with happy giggles and 'awww's'

"So, you really meant what you said to me?" She asked, though now knowing the answer.

He looked at her like she was such a silly vixen, cupping her cheeks and stroking her fur with his thumbs. "Every word."

She held him tightly for the longest time.

"We have to tell.... mom and dad." She said quietly. "It's only fair."

"Yeah, I know." He said and they broke their embrace.

He looked deep into her eyes and held her cheek. She blinked and lowered her head shyly, then her eyes turned up to him and she smiled. The most beautiful thing in the world to Ethan at that moment, was this mother-to-be. He loved her more than anything and regretted nothing.

"I'll get mom and dad." He said. Elise nodded and the smile left her face.

A few moments later, Ethan returned with their parents. Mom was in a fright of tears, not knowing what was going on and dad looked as if was ready to tear walls out to get some answers.

They stood at the foot end of the bed and Ethan stood beside his sister. He took her hand and looked up at him. He smiled down at her, giving her strength to make the announcement.

Her mind quickly went over many, many ways to present the info. But there was just one that left her mouth, before she even thought about doing so.

"I'm... pregnant." Elise said in a squeak.

She expected a barrage of questions, or to be yelled at or cheers or something, but there was nothing but blank looks from her parents for what seemed an eternity.

Then she saw her mom mouthing the words "pregnant" to herself. Down she went.

Dad took longer to realize what happened. He looked over to his wife, then seeing she wasn't there, looked down. "Alice?" He said And leaned over.

She had caught her fall on the bumper rail of Elise's hospital bed. He knelt beside her, "It's a good thing." He stood up and looked at his children quizzically. "It's a good thing, right?" He nodded hopefully.

Ethan and Elise both nodded with a smile.

"Yahooooo!" He cheered ecstatically. "Alice, it's a good thing!" He lifted her up in one swift swoop. Her head was obviously still spinning.

She rubbed her face as if waking from a deep slumber. "That's... well... sweetie...." Becoming more coherent, she looked at Elise confused, "Who... who's the father?"

Ethan gave a nervous twitch. "I...." His father cut him off.

"Doesn't matter! Our little pumpkin has a sprouted seed and we're gonna make sure he or she is the healthiest and happiest little kit in the world." He said with pride. "C'mon folks. Our dear needs her rest."

"Daaaad!" Elise said with an annoyed eye roll. "I'm not ready to pop, yet."

He helped his wife out of the screened room. Looking back, he called to Ethan, "You too, son. We'll wait for her in the waiting room."

Ethan gave an expression of hurt. He didn't want to leave his sister's side, especially now. "I'd rather stay, dad."

His dad looked annoyed at his disobedience. "What say you, sweetie?" He asked Elise.

"It's fine, dad." She smiled.

"O...kay. Mom and I will be waiting for you two." He gave a warning finger shake to Ethan. "Don't you pick on her."

"No Sir!" Ethan said, seriously.

His dad gave a curt nod and left with his mom.

They both gave a sigh. "Well, dad bought us some time, at least."

"To what, delay the inevitable?" Elise said. "We have to be honest."

"I know, sweetie." Ethan replied, kissing her hand. "We will. But, we have to think of a way to break the news without giving them a heart attack or getting disowned or something."

Elise gasped, "You don't think they'd do that, do you?"

Ethan shrugged. "I sure hope not. But put yourself in mom's position. What would YOU think if your daughter said, "My brother knocked me up." or the like."

She pondered what he said. "I don't know about mom, but dad will probably beat the crap out of you."

Ethan's eyes went wide. "Ooh, I didn't think of that one."

They left the hospital. Dad was driving the mini-van and mom had been silent, other than the odd sob. Some seemed of joy, others not so.

"Hungry? Want to get something to eat? Anything your little heart desires." Her dad asked.

"No, thank you. I just want to go home and rest. It's been an exciting day." Elise said, grateful for the offer. "And I have to pee."

Everyone laughed at that comment.

"When your mother was pregnant with the two of you, she couldn't stop eating. Or peeing. Just wait until the second trimester."

"Trimester?" Ethan asked.

"Check all that info the hospital gave your sister. If you're going to be of any help to her, you'll need to know it." His dad said.

"She's so young!" Her mom finally spoke something.

Dad smiled, "And how young were we when we found out you were pregnant?"

"That was different." Mom whispered.

Ethan caught his dad rolling his eyes and smile fading.

As they got dropped off outside the apartment building, Ethan helped Elise out of the van. "That's nice to see." His dad said, referring to him helping his sister. "Do you want to tell your Aunt and Uncle, or can we?"

"Believe me dad, we're going to call Auntie as soon as we get in." Ethan replied.

"Be forewarned, she'll be right over and be insufferable." He said with a wink.

Ethan closed the side door of the van and with a wave from both, they drove off.

"How are you feeling?" He asked her.

"In shock." She answered honestly. "So much for pregnancy inhibitors, hm?"

Ethan ran his finger through the side of her hair. "You are going to be such a beautiful mother."

Elise gave a smile, "You're biased. I'm going to be a bitchy, whiny, blimp, waking you up at three in the morning for pickles and ice cream."

They laughed and went inside.
