Dragoness on a Far-away World: Prologue
Story of an anthropomorphic dragoness marooned on an unknown planet, after escaping from a corporate organization she only calls 'The Corrupt'. The subject of genetic and cybernetic experimentation, her species destined to fight wars for the humans who enslave her kind, the desire to free her kin as well as ensure her future offspring remain free drives her onward despite near hopeless situations.
Fayr awoke to the lingering scent of burnt electronics, the acrid odor causing her to be wracked with coughing for a few moments. It was already dangerously hard to breathe within the flight deck of the crashed ship, and without a moments hesitation she forced her self up just enough to hit the air-cycling switch residing above her. The loud thrumming sound of ventilation fans kicked on, venting the compartments atmosphere and promptly replacing it with a jet of fresh air much to her relief. As consciousness slowly returned to her, she realized she had survived the plummet down to the planets surface despite the thick atmosphere of the planet.Fayr glanced around for a few moments to gain her bearings. The flight deck canopy seemed to have been cracked dangerously, and electronics damaged from the overheating of the ship during reentry sparked and crackled, threatening her once more with slow suffocation. It only took a moment to reroute power away from the control consoles that had been affected, finally ending the screech of warnings that was making her already thundering headache worse."Well, I suppose the situation could always be worse.." The ebony skinned, golden tattooed dragoness murmured quietly. Her gold and black eyes glanced around at indicators and the cracked glass of the canopy with cool calculation. The planet itself was cloaked in the darkness of night outside the canopy window, concealing the surroundings from her. Readings from her ship indicated that the sensors needed to be repaired first before she would have any idea what kind of situation she was in. She knew already that the engines were likely shot; both literally and figuratively, as that was the reason she had plummeted in the first place. With any luck, the ones who attacked her would consider the dive she took too much for any simple civilian vessel to undertake without destruction and avoid following her to the crash site.Knowing she needed to check on the rest of the ship, Fayr slowly lifted herself out of the pilots seat. It had been specially constructed for her, designed to allow for a tail. She was wearing a skin tight emergency environmental suit, designed as a last resort should environmental systems fail. She checked herself over for any damage and found that the emergency systems had done well in preventing her ebony and gold trimmed suit from being breached; it was the only way she would be able to navigate in compartments that had been atmospherically compromised. Despite all this she felt quite pleased with the situation. She had finally escaped the eternal captivity that her kind had been resigned to. A life serving as a soldier for a corrupt corporation, grown as genetic aberrations with cybernetic augmentations illegal in humans but perfectly legal
to use upon intelligent non-human creatures made in laboratories. It had taken her a long while to free herself of the relentless brainwashing they had put her and others like her through, realizing eventually that she did have value beyond what they had outlined for her. She knew that she had to find others like her, and that the Corrupt would hunt her if they found out that she still lived. She was particularly dangerous to them due to a simple reason; she was one of the few fertile females in the program, and had the capacity to form a free family of her kind away from the control of the Corrupt.Looking towards the entryway to the cabin, she prepared to take stock of the situation that would mean confirmation of life or death.(To be continued as a story or possible RP)
