Getting Him Out of the Labs

The following is a direct sequel to "The Hooded King's Retirement", requested by the same person, this time following the love interest of "The Hooded King's" younger brother, done in a similar style to its predecessor. It is also very much over due and like its predecessor is also considered a one-shot story.

Rick looked over the massive dry-dock wannabe, the once all-star underground fighting warrior by the moniker of "The Hooded King" now in charge of making sure that things stayed a secret. The lucario looked over vast enclosed space where a ship indeed being built, but not one that would sail over water or even under it like everyone the rest of the world thought.

Instead the now Chinese prince by marriage, wed to the great Emperor Chan's daughter Xiao looked over the construction of the surprisingly large space ship that was being built. His younger brother was leading the project the with help of a strange cybernetic feline that Chan had found under the ocean, once a mon, but long since lost to what species he once was, the feline was clearly eager to help get off the planet.

Now the two of them, this strange Zekran character and Luke were working day and night on the vast ship that would hopefully lift the Chinese Empire into orbit and hopefully to a new world, one where they would not be followed by the vast crime and corruption that owned Earth.

Rick sighed a little as he heard his son wake up, moving over and rocking his young riolu son in his crib some as he smiled looking down at the infant, one of his two children born of his wife, a beautiful milotic.

He turned around feeling his younger brother Luke approaching and nodded lightly to him as he continued to rock his son back to sleep. "How's it going Luke?" Rick smiled at his younger brother, a lucario now like himself, but shorter and clearly not as well built.

Although the younger lucario was still strong and growing stronger by the day, he still had a long ways to go to reach a respectable level of muscles that most lucarios had, a severe lung condition having left Luke weakened for decades before Rick was essentially forced into a new job, perhaps the best job he could ask for the in end, protecting Emperor Chan's daughter, the sponsor that The Hooded King had found himself under back in Rick's younger days, a time that Rick and Luke both wished to forget.

"Its... a long battle..." Luke sighed as he looked himself over, once again covered in oil, the supposed engine that was going to power the ship giving them problems left and right. While it was technically easy to make such a powerful engine, one that would easily power and provide life the great colony vessel that he was building, he had been commissioned to do this great task under certain very serious restrictions. Among the list of things that Luke was not allowed to use and heavily agreed, even hole handedly agreeing needed to be done, all forms of nuclear power, the currently leading power source in the world, as well as all forms of fossil fuels could not be used in the creation of this great engine. "Trying to find a way make this thing self-sufficient without being forced to rely on secondary power sources is totally nuts... it's a total mess even with Zekran's help, making something of this sheer size alone is a whole new level of exercise in science." Luke stated as he smiled at Marko, Rick's son.

"Of course... it can't really be helped can it... If we try to do something that's been done, people will catch on and could copy us and chase us down... We have to make sure we have enough power to do everything though, we'll need as many rice fields as we can get which means massive level of environmental control, heating, cooling, water recycling, atmospheric control, some kind of fake sun for the proper light... and I'm ranting again...." Luke sighed as he as he looked over the room, taking a spot on the couch as he tried to relax a bit and give something a smile, his niece coming up with a smile, the small milotic like her mother coming up and climbing up to sit in his lap, eager to help calm her uncle as she giggled and sat in his lap. "Hello Mei." Luke smiled some as he patted the little milotic on her head a bit.

The curious little girl just smiled, too young to understand much of anything, only that things were clearly not so joyous and easy going with her uncle as they were for herself. Mei was a quiet a girl, but energetic knowing that she just had this way of calming people around her, and seeing people calm down and smile around her made her happy.

"Thanks Mei..." Luke smiled a little more as he just rested back on the couch, Mei smiling herself as she looked to her father, Rick smiling some himself now as he nodded, Rick always proud of his daughter, hoping his son would be just as helpful as well as he looked to Luke.

"You really should really take a break Luke." Rick said as he gently rocked his son taking a seat beside the crib. "That liepard girl, Brea. She sent me a reminder, about how that she said she had plans with you evening that you should be ready for that." Rick smiled as he looked to his brother.

"Wh-... o-oh... yea... she said something about having a dinner or something on the grounds." Luke said looking up to him. "What time is it?" He asked looking over, only to look at a clock, just to gasp out. "Hey Mei... I know you like to sit with me, but I need to move... I'm running late..." He stated, Mei smiling some and nodding, letting him get up and giving him a hug before she got down and let him get down.

Luke quickly moved past his brother, giving a small weak smile as Rick just sighed a bit, but smiled himself as he let Luke used his bathroom to get cleaned up and looked to large skeleton of the ship. "He really is a genius." Rick smiled letting Luke be.

Brea was finishing up a few things on her end, the liepard girl one of the best resources that Emperor Chan had at his disposal as she finished looking through her folders while waiting for her hair to dry. Although it was clear that she was a liepard and had the proper patterns in her fur, she was a bit unique, instead of a standard black or sometimes very dark velvet coloration, Brea was had a very deep red primary color to her fur, with some lighter red spots and highlights in her, although the spots and highlights were dye that she added herself. As she was finishing up the paperwork and requisition forms in front of her though, her alarm went off and she smiled, turning to look at her clock. "I do so hope he's ready." She smiled, pulling out her phone and sending one last quick note to Rick, asking if Luke was still working, happy to get a quick response that he was already getting cleaned up as she signed one more paper before getting dressed, simple being best tonight, just wanting to get to know Luke a bit better.

As she finished getting ready, she purred just a bit to herself, unable to stop thinking about how much she had started to seek companionship lately, and how much she had been thinking of Luke, knowing a few things about him, but wondering how much was actually true and not just rumors. She knew that being the brother of Rick, he was overshadowed greatly and many things were just comparisons to his brother, but she did know some facts as she made a quick stop before heading to pick up Luke, Brea almost always on top of things as she headed for the bar that she had arranged to have dinner with Luke at, after a walk around the grounds with him first. Once she made sure that everything was set and the bar had put up reserved sign that would only let certain people in the for night, she started for the docks entrance to meet with Luke.

Brea smiled as she looked over Luke, the two of them out and about, or rather at least exploring the castle grounds instead of being locked up in the dry-docks that Luke had taken to calling home, literally sleeping in the lab he used, sometimes even on the keyboards or his computers. The lieperd was happy to get him out of the lab with a little help and strict warning from his older brother, Rick very eager to try and make sure that while Luke did his best, Luke wouldn't over work himself again.

Brea had arranged for a nice quiet dinner in one of the smaller bars of the castle, having reserved the room entirely to ensure that they had some nice time together, a special set of rules in place to ensure quiet and that the usual louder crowds were away for the evening.

"Luke... are you sure you're doing well... You look a little tired. We can reschedule if you need sleep." She smiled, knowing to take her time with him. Brea had been watching him ever since she took over resource management for the project, Chan appointing her because she knew the game, because she knew exactly how to play with others in the corrupt world as it was.

Out of everything that Chan had offered and forced her into once she forced her way up the ranks of the government, there was one thing she now sought above all else as she eyed Luke who just smiled back at her. Her desire for companionship was growing greatly over the years as she looked to the first true potential mate she had come to want.

"Its... its fine." Luke smiled looking over the liepard, completely oblivious to her want of him, the lucario having never experienced a date before, not even knowing that a date was exactly what he was on even as he let Brea guide him to their reserved seat, close to the musical group that played every night in the bar, away from the rest of the world, a time for them to relax as the gentle strings of the instruments played for them. "The lab... it... the work I'm doing just takes a lot out of me. I'm fine." He tried to reassure her as a waitress approached and gave them both a large jug of sake to enjoy for the evening, Brea too concerned with his health right now to notice that the tea she had ordered for Luke had not yet been placed for them, instead offering him a small cup of the sake as she took her seat.

"You really need to rest more often. Your brother worries about you a lot... and so many others. Xiao is nearly ready to force you on vacation even if you pass out at the computer one more time." Brea smiled as she sipped her drink, Luke doing the same. "Don't worry about a menu, I asked your brother for some help and he already told me what kind of things you enjoy." She said as she looked to him.

"Oh... what.. really?" He asked blushing a little in embarrassment that she was so prepared for this, he couldn't help but feel out of place as he sipped his drink. "I... I guess I really need this though... some time outside of the lab and to relax quietly might do me some good."

"And that's why I invited you here." Brea said blushing a little herself as she continued to slowly sip her sake, unsure if she should tell him why she really essentially dragged him out of the lab tonight. "I was hoping that maybe we could talk for a while, maybe... maybe get to know each other a bit..." She said quietly.

"O-oh.... Really?" He asked looking to her as he rested back, feeling himself quickly relax in the quiet bar, a very large change from the constant clutter and noise of the lab, the incense burning around them helping him relax as he started to smile some. "Wh...what would you like to... talk about?" He asked having never been asked share things about himself before, the shy boy that he was easily showing.

"Well... for one thing... I'd like to know about you... about who you are... not about the what others say about the prince's... or king's younger brother depending on who you ask ." She started. "People really don't have much to say even if they talk a lot about you, it's mostly about just how your always in your lab, and how you're just the younger brother to Rick."

"W-well... I..." Luke blushed looking down a little, unsure what to share about himself. "I... I just like to build things... and... well... I like games..." He stated softly. "Not that I have much time to play them really... not with all the work I have to do. I mean... Zekran is good at what he does... he knows so much, he's a real brilliant guy..." Luke started as Brea just giggled softly.

"I'm sure he is... but it doesn't say much about you. I want to hear about you... I really do." She said with a smile. "Like... what kind of games do you like to play... do you listen to music... or what kind of science interests you most." She asked.

"I... well... I like... I like all kinds of science... mostly... I... I get a little.. light headed around blood though, so... medical science while fascinating isn't always the greatest thing for me to look at..." HE admitted. "But... its still amazing none the less. I like machinery the most though... like the nano-bots that I have in me... that help keep my lungs working right. Its so amazing that such little things can do so much." He smiled starting to open up as he looked to her more.

"I see." She smiled more seeing that he was opening up more, unaware that he had already finishing his first cup of sake and went for a second, having never touched any kind of alcohol before, much less not knowing how much of a lightweight he would end up being, a stronger blush already present on his face.

"And... even when things get big, it's still amazing to build them... like this new engine... Its going to have to power the equivalent of several dozen cities, but it's possible... just... doing it without nuclear power is going to be hard. I mean we want to do this right, and that means making as little waste as possible, and without creating any truly dangerous by-products right."

Brea just continued to smile as she listened to him, only to start to notice a large blush across his face. "I see." She said. "And even though you enjoy your work though, you can't let it get to you too much. Everyone needs breaks from time to time. Perhaps I could arrange for a day when you could sit down and play some of these games you like so much." She said, Luke nodding a little as he finished his drink, Brea still more concerned with his health as she thought about what it might take to set up a private little room away from the labs for him to relax to notice that he poured himself a little more sake to drink right now, sipping slowly at the second small cup.

"This... this is some really... weird tea..." Luke finally said as he took the small silence to actually taste the drink he had, Brea looking up, only to realize what he was drinking now.

"That's... not tea ..." She stated softly looking to him.

"Huh?" Luke looked to her as their meals finally arrived.

"I ordered some various teas for Luke here, where are they?" Brea quickly their waitress as she looked to Brea, pulling out her order sheet, and reviewing, only to gasp.

"Oh, I am so sorry, I'll get them right away." The waitress said as she quickly rushed back to the kitchen to get the teas as Brea looked to him.

"Luke... just trust me... try to eat something now alright." Brea said looking to him and the small meal of seasoned chicken and rice they had, a very light meal, but hopefully that would be enough to keep Luke from getting too drunk, Brea not knowing if Luke had ever even touched any kind of alcoholic drink before.

Brea smiled as she walked with Luke through the gardens that rested beside the small residential section of the castle grounds, her hut the closest as she had her arm around his, smiling that he was leaning into her. She was taking him back to her place, and she could easily see that her mistake in letting him drink even the few cups of sake he had getting him drunk. Although she clearly preferred something stronger and could handle her liquor, it was clear that Luke couldn't.

She slowly lead him to her small cabin and helped him inside, more than ready to sleep on the couch and let him take the bed, unsure if he had even slept in a real bed since the project had started. She helped him slowly onto the bed and

assisted with removing his jacket since he was clearly out of it.

After putting his jacket away for now, she moved over to start some coffee, only to feel her phone and his going off. Pulling up the message, she quickly realized that it was another setback and from the sudden groaning and shuffling behind her, it was clearly big.

"Oh, come on..." Luke grumbled as he sat up and looked around for his jacket, dropping his phone and searching frantically as Brea leaned over and picked it up, the device having fallen just barely under the bed as she looked over the message. "I need to get back... back to the... l-lab..." He stated his lack of sleep and drunkenness adding up as he couldn't stand.

"Luke... its fine. They can handle clean up without and Chan planned this thing out two fold, first off he is never actually working as though this thing will ever work, continuing to run the nation as he sees fit without relying on the fact that we will be leaving." Brea smiled holding him down a bit.

"But we have to leave... we can't stay... I-I need to g-get down there, I need to make this work." He stated as he weakly tried to push past her to get to the lab anyway. "I have t-to do this and make sure that i-it works or else... this world is going to kill itself if everyone keeps abusing it. Between nuclear waste and crime and ... everything... we can't stay, everyone here is counting on me to do this..." He stated tearing up a bit as he let himself go a bit, showing off what was really the source of the stress he was under.

"Luke... it's not all on you. You have help... lots of help." Brea smiled. "Chan made sure to give this project as much time as he could, doubly the scheduled time for any one step to make sure things were done right and to account for the number of setbacks he expected." Brea said pushing him down a bit harder onto the bed, but doing so as gently as she could.

"But I have to do this, I'm one of a handful of people who can even really make this plan come true. Everyone else is either too greedy, enslaved, or can't think enough to make it happen, the last of us who can make it happen are all right here and I'm leading the project." Luke stated firmly looking at her a bit hurt right now, unable to believe that she was holding him back when she had helped him out so much before.

"You're right Luke... you are one of a few people who can do this... but you can't do it if you're dead." She stated with a bit of a sigh. "You need to slow down. You can't keep this up like you have been. It's not healthy and continuing to try and force yourself to make it happen will only make you sick. Think about your brother and everyone else. They are worried for you. I'm... worried for you..." She stated blushing hard at her words. "You're smart Luke... but your body can't keep up with everyone. You're still recovering a bit and pushing yourself will only over work the solution you've found for your lungs."

"But... I... I need to help them." Luke stated again, only for her to kiss him, causing him to blush madly and go very limp, just leaning back as she pulled away.

"Luke... you need sleep. You don't even have the parts right now to start rebuilding the housing for your engine design right now. And besides... all the damage right now is purely cosmetic... nothing seriously wrong has happened yet. No one was hurt and no one needs to get hurt, especially you right now." She said. "Now lay down and get some rest, you need it." She smiled, moving up beside him and just letting him lean into her right now.

Luke tried to struggle one last time, but it was hardly even a half-hearted attempt at it as he stayed with her, slowly starting to pass out as she held him, making sure to keep him there, Brea smiling a bit as he started to slow down at last. She continued to hold him and just rub his shoulders a bit until at last he had passed out and then set him down gently on the bed, covering him up and grabbing her phone, sending a few messages out to get more information about what was really going on, and learn how to fix it, and how long it would it take. She just nodded to herself, knowing soon enough that it would take a few days at least, and all Luke could do in that time was really supervise things.

She looked back to the sleeping lucario with a smile and moved to get a few spare blankets as well as a pillow, moving to her couch to get some rest herself as she sent out one last message to Rick, letting him know that Luke was with her and how things turned out so he wouldn't worry. Once she got a reply from Rick, she laid down herself and tried to get some sleep herself.

Two days passed and Brea smiled as she had Luke once again in her little place, having finished a nice little meal with him, nothing over the top and certainly no alcohol this time as she excused herself. "I'll be back in a few Luke." She smiled and walked off to her bathroom, already undoing the buttons on her shirt, Luke not even noticing as Brea smiled some.

She spent a little time in front of her mirror as she looked herself over, combing her hair back just a little while slipping off her top, then just slipping clean out of her skirt, bending over and looking over to see that Luke wasn't even looking her way, the bathroom door still wide open as he sat on her bed, looking over some of her photos right now.

"Wh-what are y-you doing?" Luke stammered trying to advert his gaze now, but slowly found himself looking over her more as she pulled him into a kiss.

"I'm trying to find an outlet for us both." She smiled. "Something that we can both enjoy... something we might both need." She told him as she looked to him. "You're working yourself to death down there in those docks, its not healthy." She said looking to him.

"Brea... no... this... we can't..." Luke blushed barely even putting up a fight to try and getaway.
