Beast-men of different shapes and sizes are scattered around the work area of one of the most renowned wood carving shops in the country. The establishment is called Cah-hoya; meaning Wood and Art. And this story will revolve around two guys who had harbored feelings for the longest time but neither of them does not have the courage to confess. So this weekend their friends planned something special for them. The two never knew what was coming for them that day.
February 14 (Friday)
"Ahhhh! Fifty-five blocks of 4x5x2 Pine wood stacked in the backroom." As a ram, of at least 6'5 stretches around. His stature is thick on muscle, but also he has a noticeable but not too big gut on him, "Now it's time for the paint to be transferred to the painter's department." He fixes his well-groomed mustache that looks like it came straight out of a video game. Except that he is wearing a checkered red and black polo that is drenched of sweat and a pair of jeans that are a bit on the tight side, showing off his short tail and muscular hind.
With a smile he starts to pile up a few boxes of paint and he carries them towards a small building, and the ram is met with a loud, bouncy and welcoming voice. "Baumir! Are you here to deliver us paint?! You shouldn't have!" he placed down the boxes to see a young lion in front of him, the lion is around 25 years old and has a wonderful sunset orange mane on him to compliment his bright yellow fur and brown eyes. The ram just smiles and said "Oh it's nothing, that's the least I can do to repay you." And the ram blushes a bit as the lion told him it's nothing.
"Enlei!" a woman called out to the young lion as both males look at their left. The voice came from a feminine fox running towards them waving her hand. "Oh hi, Baumir!" as the fox looks to her right. "Hi there Mellie, how's painting?" and the fox replied to the ram that the station is working fine. Enlei is wearing his casual clothing of a bright blue shirt with a rainbow streaking diagonally with "PRIDE FLAG" printed on the bottom of it. And Mellie currently wears a white shirt with a brown hat that has a few splotches of paint on it. Then Mellie called a few more of her friends, a male husky, two Siamese cats and a monkey wearing a headset.
"Da,da,daa" as the ape continues to dance. Enlei quickly took off the headsets for his co-worker. "Hey." As the yellow furred monkey looks at the lion. "It's dangerous to walk around with these things. Remember the last time you crashed into Baumir, when he was carrying a few heavy blocks of Narda?" and the monkey gulps and apologizes. "Yeah. That's one of the things I am not proud of." Scratching his head. "So anyway, I want us to hang out together, guys!" the husky's baritone voice cuts in. "Hmm that's sooo not like you Sam." The lion looks at the husky funny.
"It's true! And besides.." as he rest his hand on Baumir's right shoulder "I want to thank him for the help he has been giving us." The cats nodded, "Lei and I are thankful for what you two have been doin' for us so we decided to throw hang out for Valentine's Day!" Molly, the twin of Lei spoke up. "Alright, I'm coming! You?" as the lion tilts his head towards his ram friend.
"Ok. I'll go." Besides Enlei and Baumir the entire group smiles. "Oh well better get back to work." As the lion picks up a bucket of pink paint and a brush. "See ya around, Bau!" and the ram replied "See you soon." both the ram and lion departed from the group. "Yes! Step one's complete. Let's head to phase two." Mellie said after the lion was out of sight, the rest nods and they went back to continue their work.
Meanwhile outside the Painter's Department
"I hope you like me too." The ram looks up to the blue sky, his hand gripping the fabric around his chest.
See the ram is some might call a klutz at times. His life has been a series of ups and downs but mostly downs. The up that he actually notices is manifested to the presence of his lion friend Enlei. There were a few times that he drops a few things. Then his boss, a bear would ask 'who did this?' then the lion will take the blame every time. There were times where he feels lonely, the lion will always pop up to make him smile. His world became a whole brighter with Enlei by his side.
The first time he dropped something was actually a few buckets of paint. He so happens to breathe a bit of saw dust, making his nose itchy. His sneeze was a strong one. It made him accidentally drop the buckets, spilling paint everywhere. The sound summoned the "Grim Reaper of the Cah-hoya". Sir Picone Selan from the other side of the room to the ram. "How dare you drop these!" as he was about to continue yelling the ram, on the verge of crying. A voice shouted at the bear. "Sir, it was not him. It was me."
Everybody's eyes widened as the new comer, a lion. Took the bullet for someone. And the bear's sermons were no joke, they were severe no less but the bear seems to have calmed down. "It's all right. Get to work then. I'll see you later after work, am I clear?" and the lion just nods as the bear leaves. "I-I...Why did you do it?" as the ram looks at his savior "Well... It's not your fault that you dropped the paint. Besides I don't want to see anybody cry, let me take the blame for it." As the lion pats the ram at the back, the ram started to blush slightly.
"I'm Baumir. Baumir Delamyr" the ram extended his hand to have his hand being taken for a shake. "Enlei Araue, you can call me Enlei." The lion replied and gave the ram a smile. "Thank you, Enlei" Baumir thanked the lion for taking the blame. "It's nothing, that's what friends are for right?" tears were shedding from the ram while he, for the first time in years smiled.
"Am I your friend?" the ram asked. "Of course! I consider the people around me my friends. We are stuck together might as well go along together. Am I right?" then the lion yelped as he was pulled with a surprise hug. He gladly returned the gesture as he thought to himself "Wow, for a big guy he sure is soft if he wants to be. These firm arms, those broad shoulders and that wonderful moustache." And he shook his head trying to dismiss his thoughts. "Damn it Enlei! Stop thinking these things, you just met him!" the lion scolded himself mentally.
While the ram has a few thoughts running through his mind. "Enlei, he has always been the bouncy, positive and talkative type. His mane sure is soft and shiny, the splotches of paint on his yellow fur just makes him look adorable. Like a child that has been painting and enjoying himself doing it. A-adorable?! Baumir, you just hugged a total stranger out of nowhere and these are the things that are popping up in your mind! Stop it!"
"Oh well... I guess I have a crush now." The two of them thought to themselves. "OOOH! Love birds!" a voice belonging to a husky sounded. "Knock it off, Sammy Boy!" as a female fox approaches the two. "You've got balls kid, I like that. People just don't take the blame for others." Then the two parted from the hug to greet the two others. "I am Melliena Halner and this oaf over here is Samuel Quizter. You can call me Mellie and Sammy boy over here goes by Sam."
"Thanks?" the lion is confused by the compliment but takes it anyway. "Baumir, are you ok?" and the ram simply replies with a smile. "Oh, I see. Well good for you then because we can get back to work, let's get painting Enlei!" as she goes back to her usual spot at the workshop. "Well see ya!" as the lion joins the fox. "Hey Enlei!" as he waves at the direction where the lion was headed. "It's been a while since this ram smiled. Honestly he looks better with it rather than his stone face." The fox as she paints a closet talks to the lion.
"How long has he been here?" asked the lion "Around two years, and in that time I never saw him smile at all. Never opened up to anyone and never had a friend to talk to." The lion's jaws drop to the fact that he learned about the ram's loneliness. "and the moment I saw him smile I knew that he is ok." And she patted the lion. "Thanks for making him smile again. I think your looks have to do with it." And she winks at the lion causing him to blush.
"I just did what I thought is right. That's all." The lion took a scolding right after work, his ears rang right after he went out of the boss' office. "Owww" he went out with his eyes closed and he did not expect a person waiting for him when he opened his eyes. "Oh Baumir." And the ram smiles. "Thank you once again, Enlei. I have a question. Are you free?"
Little did the two know, most of their co-workers, their boss and friends are currently watching the two from the windows of the workshop. "They look so cute together!" one girl shrieked as the others agree making noise. "Well, we better help them then." the males of the room decided to give Baumir the paint duty for him exclusively. In order to give him time to see the lion ever so often.
"Yup! What about it?" "Well, I'm going to Saku's. Want to join me?" and the lion nods. "I am looking forward to it." "What did he say?" a tiger asks the husky who so happens to be near the door. "Baumir just invited Enlei to eat together. And he said yes." The crowd got so excited that most of the girls and some of the boys just shrieked on how the situation developed from the two. And that made Enlei look towards the painter's building.
"What was that?" the lion asks his companion. "Eh? Probably sharing stories." Then the ram walks towards the exit, being followed by Enlei. They were chatting while leisurely walking towards a small restaurant where they serve up Arroz. It's congee with ginger to go along with fried garlic flakes and chives; it is usually served with eggs or meat. "It's been a long time since I dropped by here for a bite!" the lion starts to drool.
The ram looks at the lion, chuckling at the sight of "the king of the jungle" to be so childish. "Well, let's go then." And they entered the establishment.
This was two years ago. The two grew closer and closer until they become inseparable, best of friends in fact. Of course their crush for each other is an obvious secret lurking around the wood shop's workers. And today their friends' efforts will pay off.
After work the two went towards the exit where they saw their friends, they went up to meet them and then the fox spoke up. "Alright! Tonight we'll be in Dawnbreak Inn, I just got invitations for our good friends, Aurum and his family to stay over there for their Valentine's Day recital. Afterwards we head there to eat and party hard!"
Everybody now went towards their destination. A huge tree that became an inn that has a signboard with "Dawnbreak Inn" on it. The building seems to be filled with balloons that are the shapes of hearts everywhere. From the courtyard to the verandas of the building. And a fence seems to be filled with padlocks with names or initials of couples, making the entire group awe in what happened to the inn.
"Looks like their packed. I can hear Rum's fiddle from here!" they heard a few instruments playing an upbeat seemingly old folk music, they decided to go inside to find out what's going on.
As they went in they saw, on the stage is a band composing of an eagle, bear and a weasel. The eagle is playing a violin while the weasel plays a flute and the bear on a fiddle. Couples seem to dance along in a circle, hopping and turning while trading partners. "Oh hi guys!" a hare with a physique comparable to Baumir approaches the group.
"Harry! How's it been?" the wolf asks the hare. "Oh I'm fine Nol... I mean Sam." And he looks towards the ram and lion. "Hello there you two, how's work?" "Awesome with friends around. How about you, it seems I can tell by looking though." The lion replied as he sees his monkey friend disappear to the crowd dancing with a female leopard.
"Looks like they are having fun! Come on Sammy boy!" as Mellie grabs the wolf's arm, making him blush as they join in to the circle with his tail wagging. "Let's go!" the twin cats followed after. The lion grins at the ram, the ram smiles and went in to the outer circle, clapping along with the others. And the music ends a few minutes after. "Woooo!" the crowd cheered and applaud as the band bows down. "Oh! Is that you Enlei?" and the two turned around to see their boss with his seems to be date; a beautiful blonde human approaches them.
"Oh boss! I did not know you know you two'll be here!" and the bear grins as he pats the lion on the shoulder, "Why wouldn't I? Harry gave me tickets to see Rum's recital. I have to say his music is one of the best things I ever heard." And the other three agreed. "We better get goin' we have a dinner date. Be seeing you Enlei and Baumir." The bear nods and leaves with his girl, chatting and laughing on their way out.
"I wish that could be us..." the lion thought to himself.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't my favorite painter and carver I see?" to their right they see a bulky looking bear that has auburn hair and blue eyes looked at them. "Oh Rum. Long time no see my friend!" the ram looks happy as they met in a hug. "How're the kids?" and behind the bear is two boys. One with black messy hair and brown eyes and the other mostly red with a few patches of black and red eyes to match smiles at the ram.
"They're curious. We're gonna tell them how me and Harry met." And the ram choked and panicked as the bear suddenly asked the ram a surprise question. "So when are you gonna con.." and the ram quickly elbows the bear making him yelp. "Never mind I asked. Hahaha." The bear continues the conversation to the lion.
"So Enlei? Planning to settle down with a girl or..." And then the ram looks a bit more uncomfortable as this bear continues this conversation. "A guy?" and then the ram felt like he is in the verge of fainting. Your friend did not just almost revealed your feelings to your crush but also finding out if he swings the way you do. This is too much for him, not only that but the lion appears unfazed on how embarrassing the questions are.
"Well, I sure wouldn't mind finding the right guy first!" then right in that moment the ram's mind almost blown apart at what he just found out. "HE IS GAY!" the ram smiles ear to ear and the bear told the two. "Oh look at the time, here." The bear hands Enlei a key with a heart keychain with the number 69 on it. "Happy Valentine's Day! This is the key for your room. On the house." And just as the bear was leaving he whispered to the ram. "Well? Good luck and knock him up, or the other way around. Hehehe."
"WHAT THE FUCK RUM! OH I WILL GET YOU SOMETIME SOON." The ram thought to himself, breathing in and out. He thanks the bear silently, for giving him a bit of hope and a bit of courage along with it. "Ummm. Bau?" then the ram returns to reality. "Mellie just told me that they already ate. Oh well, we should have dinner here instead." "Okay sounds fun." And the two went to the dining hall filled with couples everywhere; just to top it off they feel a bit uncomfortable that they are the only people that just ate here for the sake of eating.
"Oh hi there you two." They were approached by the boy with black hair that they saw earlier. "Oh you must be Gero? Am I right?" the ram asks and the boy nods. "Yup~ well I will lead to your table for tonight." And the boy leads them to the roof- I mean tree top of the hotel. "Here we are!" the boy announced and the only thing that the other two did was awe at the sight of what they're seeing. A perfect view of the town with candles in every corner, and in the middle if it; a table just for two.
"The stars look beautiful along with the lights of the town. It feels so peaceful here." The boy left the two at it as they look up the sky. "A half-moon huh? The moon always look so beautiful." And the ram clears his throat. "Umm. Enlei?" "Eh?" as the lion looks at his companion. He notices a light shade of red as he starts to open his mouth. "I..." and then a certain hare went up. "Dinner is... oh am I interrupting?" the lion nodded sideways. "Ok then. May I have a word with you, Enlei?" as he motioned the lion to go closer to the hare.
"What is it?" and then the hare asks: "Do you have a special someone with you tonight?" and the lion nods. "That's what I want to see. Here" the hare hands over an ice bucket with a bottle of wine in it. "Oh please this is too.." and then the hare gave him the hand. "Come on just enjoy it. Alright?" then Gero arrived with their food. "Here you go!" said the nine-year old boy. "Thanks. Well we better get going. Enjoy the food and Happy Valentine's day!" as Harry lifts up the child to his shoulders and going back down to the restaurant.
"Let's eat!" then the two ate what was served to them. A full course meal with the Inn's famous Arroz. "Wow! That has got to be the best things I ever tasted!" the lion pats his belly. "Time for a drink!" as the lion opens the wine bottle with a pop. The two continued to chit chat as they continue to enjoy their "romantic dinner" laughing and crying tears of joy as the time goes by until. "It's getting late. I better get to the room." The lion stood up.
"Right. I haven't had a shower ever since this morning." and the ram lifts up his arms sniffing himself. "You smell nice though." As the lion continues to go towards the door. "Wait. What did I just hear! "You smell nice." And then the ram paused for a moment. Feeling his cheeks blush and his body started to feel hot. The alcohol seems to have kicked in. And that the lion did not process what did he say to his best friend.
"Are you coming Bau?" the lion calls out. "Coming!" the ram quickly went in to the room. The room looks very homely. It's decorated with two seats beside a coffee table, a veranda outside that faces the sunrise, a fireplace and a bed in front of the veranda. And the bed seems to be the only one in the entire room. "Looks like we're gonna sleep together!" the lion sits on the bed.
"Come on Bau! Sit with me." The ram started to feel a bit more comfortable as he sat beside the lion. "Ummm. Enlei I have something to say to you." And he starts to blush, it got harder to breathe as seconds go by and his heart starts to pound like crazy. "Me too." The lion also replies. "And words can't seem to cut it so... can you close your eyes for me." The ram saw the lion blush, he thought to himself that he's serious. Might as well see it through.
Then after Baumir he felt something warm pressing his lips. When he opened his eyes he sees the lion's eyes closed. Taken aback by the surprised kiss, he backed off a bit. Causing the lion to also pull back "I-I'm sorry." And then just as the lion hastily went to the door he felt his hand being held another. "I'm sorry, Enlei." And then Baumir closed the distance between him and the lion.
"I have been keeping this feeling for so long that I don't know how'll you react. But here's my answer." Then the lion started to cry when he is eye to eye with his companion. Those blue eyes are filled with love and sincerity, and then they closed their eyes. Moving their mouths closer and closer until they met. Tears of joy are pouring down from the lion's eyes as they started to kiss.
The lion started off as he opens his maw, the ram did the same as they let each other's tongues enter. The lion places his right hand behind the ram and continues to caress the ram's head. Then the lion felt two arms tenderly wrap around his body. The two have been kissing for a while until the lion decided to part from the kiss.
"I guess I was not the only one. Hehehe."
The ram wipes his now lover's tears as he playfully tackles the lion towards the bed. Him on top of the smiling feline. Then the ram closed in for another kiss and the lion was glad to comply. Then the lion felt something hard touch his groin. "Well looks who's excited." Slyly grinning at the tent in the ram's jeans. "Well, you're the one to talk." The ram reached down to his lover's crotch and caresses it gently.
"Umpf. Well let's make this fun." The lion grabs the ram's buns, giving them a squeeze. The ram chucked as he removes his shirt and the lion stood up and did the same. The lion is awed at the sight before him. "Woah! Now that's what I call a body." And then out of nowhere Enlei shoved the unsuspecting ram to the bed after he got rid of his pants. Then the two closed their eyes as they let their consciousness fade. Letting the fire in the fireplace burn slowly. The next day
The sun is shining, lovebirds are singing and then of course the two are asleep. Tired from all what they have done last night.
"*Yawn*" both lion and ram opened their eyes only to be surprised on who's in front of them.
"*Pop!*Congratulations!" The two are choked at the crowd of people in front of them. Sure being buck naked in front of people is embarrassing enough but to top it off, they knew you have been at it makes the new couple all the more embarrassed.
The room is now decorated with streamers and a banner that says "Congrats to the new couple!". Then that is not the end of it. *Click* there was a camera. And that camera is owned by no other than the gossip queen and life wrecker; Mellie. "That should fetch a good price."
The crowd composes of the group of Mellie, Molly, Lei, Sam, Yunno the monkey, Harry and his family and the boss. "This has got to be the best/worst day of my life." The two thought to themselves as they hid under the blanket, redder than a beet.
"IS THIS EVEN NECESSARY!? WE ARE BUTT NAKED AND YOU GUYS JUST BARGED IN HERE AND SAY YOUR CONGRATULATIONS! CAN YOU BE NORMAL PEOPLE FOR ONCE?" the room went silent for a minute and the lion started to laugh.
"Hahahahahahah!" the lion laughed loud and eventually everyone followed along. "Seriously though, OUT!!!" then the others went out smiling. "Geeze." The lion shifts to a sitting position leaning on the wall behind them. "Mwah. Better get dressed." The ram leaped out of the bed directly into the bathroom. "I'll join you." Then En followed after.
As they made their way down, they see their friends chit chatting at the treetop.
"Oh, there is the main event." Their boss patted the two and gave a hearty laugh.
"Here's to Enlei and Baumir! May your love be pure and future bright! Cheers!" Rum spoke up as he raised his glass, everybody followed suit and then afterwards, he ran towards the two with a grin on his face.
"Hi Rum, thanks for helping us." The lion thanks the bear for his efforts. "Well everybody here did their part and I'm glad that Baumir grew a pair!" he slaps the two at the back and he laughs. The other two nervously laughed with him.
"By the way I've been meanin' to ask." as the three lower their heads. "Who's the top?"
"WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT!?" both En and Bau yelled at the thirty year old jokester.
And that is how a lion with a sunny outlook in life and a lonely ram became a couple.
