Anger was the only thing the buffalo seemed capable of ever feeling. Chief Bogo's fists slammed against the desk, the force of which could be felt even by the fox and rabbit sitting before him. Baring his teeth, he yelled at them.
"I'd have you two stuck on parking duty for-fucking-ever if I could! Hell, I'd arrest you myself and laugh as they tossed you two scumbags in prison! Do you have any idea how lucky you two are?! Judy, you blackmailed a civilian into helping you, endangering him. You recklessly tried to drive a rundown train and blew it up, destroying almost all the evidence. You tresspassed without a warrant. You threatened Duke with torture. Last, but not least, you helped a tax-evading homeless bum get into my department!" He slowly stood up and leaned closer. "If it only weren't for you both getting pardons, and the fact that firing you would be a giant controversy. The only thing I can and will do is send you both on dangerous cases. I wouldn't get away with having you do menial work, but maybe if I'm lucky, someone will shoot you and solve my problem."
Judy looked completely afraid, and sat still in her seat, her arms raised over her chest.
In contrast, Nick just kept a smile on his face. "Well, you know, almost none of that would have happened if you had given her real support to begin with. As for my part, I do have to thank you for the job. I can finally not sleep under a bridge. You're a real sweet guy, Chief!"
"Shut the fuck up, Nick," the powerful male whispered venomously. He pulled out a folder from his desk and slapped it down on the table. "We have a warrant for a drag racer speeding around. Here's what his car looks like from cameras. Go get him. I hope he shoots you or runs you over."
"Has he always been your biggest fan?" Nick asked, then licked at his pawpsicle. "Racist asshole."
Judy sighed. It was hard to concentrate on driving when she was so hurt and stressed by Bogo. "Yeah."
He noticed her performance. "Are all bunnies bad drivers, or just you?"
They knew each other enough to know when the other was upset. This was the fox's way of trying to cheer her up. When they reached a red light, she slammed on the breaks while Nick was trying to lick his treat. Instead, it got stick in his fur. Grinning, she turned her head. "Oops, sorry."
"Sly bunny," he wagged his pawpsicle at her.
"Dumb fox!" She was smiling now, and her ears perked up.
The light became green, and as they drove forward, a car rushed past them. Nick put his sunglasses on as Judy spun around the corner and turned her siren on. She was surprised when the car actually did stop and pull over. "Guess he doesn't want a chase." They both stepped out and approached the vehicle. Judy stood next to the car window, with nick behind her. "Sir, you were going 115 miles per hour. I hope you have a good explanation."
The tinted window slowly rolled down, revealing a nervous-looking sloth. Nick came closer, taking his glasses off. "Flash, Flash, Hundred Yard Dash!" He couldn't help but smile, happy to see his friend.
"Niiiick." He smiled back. "I... am sorry, for..."
"Speeding?" Judy interrupted.
"...causing trouble." Sincerity filled his voice, even if the animal had a hard time speaking to non-sloths.
Judy took a deep breath. "Flash, step out of the vehicle."
"Carrots? You're not really going to arrest him, are you?" A frown formed over the fox's muzzle, and his ears drooped back.
"I have to, Nick. We can't ignore the warrant." Even with that truth, she felt terrible.
Flash looked scared, but opened the door and stepped out. A whole two minutes later, he was turned around with his hands behind his back. Judy pulled the cuffs from her waist and attached them to the sloth's wrists before leading him to the police car.
Before she opened the back seat to let the sloth in, Nick spoke again, eager to convince her to stop. "I'm sure if we explain it at ZPD, we can get them to drop the warrant."
She shook her head. "He's my friend, too. He helped us both get here today. But we can't just be vigilantes anymore. Chief Bogo won't care about public backlash, he'll fire us even if he has to lose his job if we cross too far past the line."
"But...!" Nick began, but trailed off. He looked down to the ground as Flash was put into the back seat. "I guess you're right," he admitted, and sat in the passenger's side while Judy started the car. "It's just sad. He's probably going to lose his job after this."
Ever since Nick moved in, there had been a lot less room in the studio apartment. They planned on moving to a larger one eventually, after they saved ahead. Judy fell down on her bed, bouncing on the springs and sighing heavily. Nick quietly sat down in the chair, and looked out the window, simply watching cars drive by. Neither of them spoke for a few minutes.
"I'm sorry." The bunny broke the silence with her faint words. She stared at the ceiling, while her lover kept staring out the window.
"Hey, don't worry about it." Though his words were soft, Nick was clearly hurt. His smile seemed fake, but his eyes were what gave him away most of all. "You did what you had to do. It just sucks for him." He got up from the seat finally, and grabbed a TV dinner to throw in the microwave. He hoped they had a real kitchen when they moved.
"I really would have tried to get him out of it, but I can't risk things with the chief. He's still mad about us basically taking the spotlight. He's still embarrassed by the headlines they ran." She turned over to her side so that she could face Nick.
A loud ding signaled the finished food. He pulled it out and grabbed a plastic, disposable fork from a box in a cabinet, and sat down to eat. A genuine, weak smile curved over his muzzle. "Ah, yes. 'Rookie rabbit cop and homeless fox solve mystery in two days.' They made it sound like it proved all the talking points that the ZPD was inept and corrupt until we came in. Which was true. Still is." He cut into the meal with the fork's edge, then lifted up a carrot to devour. "You really need to go shopping, by the way."
"Hey, Nick?" The fox turned to face her, swallowing his food as he waited. Judy blushed, Light from the window shined down on the fox, making his sweat glisten a bit, and his scent was always stronger after a day of work. His nose wiggled as he sniffed; she knew he could smell her own musk increasing by the moment. "Why do you love me?"
"You know why." He took another bite before continuing. She waited for him to continue, so he did. "It's because when I saw you on that bridge, about to hand over your badge, I realize that you and I had the same dreams as kids. We both wanted to make the world a better place. But I gave up on that dream, because the world was too dirty and cruel. But when you accepted that reality, you still didn't give up." He finished his meal, and tossed it in a trash can. Then he walked over to her, leaned down, and kissed her. "You're smart enough to outsmart a fox, sly enough to get what you want and need even as no one helps you, and brave enough to put yourself in danger for others, even when it doesn't benefit you. You're better than me."
She licked her lips, tasting the fox. Her heart sped up, and her breathing increased. Nick climbed on the bed, and nuzzled at the bunny's chin, forcing her to raise her neck. A paw reached between her legs, stroking her crotch. The fur on his hand became moist, and a smirk crossed his face. "Oh, you dumb bunny. You've been holding back all day." She whimpered in reply, turning her head and hiding her blush with her ears. He nibbled on her ear, and then whispered into it. A growl filled her ears, and the fox's claws dug into her hips before beginning to pull off her pants, but only enough to reveal her pussy. The clothes couldn't come off fast enough, so she wrapped her legs around the fox's waist, dryhumping against the male's tent. He bared his fangs as his fur prickled up like a feral, knowing she liked that. Judy kissed the menacing fox's fangs while she grabbed his pants' zipper, and pulled his thick flesh out, stroking it. "Too impatient. Now," she demanded with a heavy huff.
Strong hands grabbed her shoulders, keeping her laying down while her legs squeezed his waist. Pre dripped from the pulsing dick, and kissed the bunny's entrance. "Fair enough!" Bucky conceded. Pronk could be heard laughing before telling his husband to go back to sleep.
Judy and Nick laid there, spending minutes in silence, simply petting each other's cheeks and smiling. "Those two are kind of cute, even if they're a bit rude," Nick mused.
"Yeah," she agreed passingly, but didn't really think about it much. "...Hey, you know, I always wondered about something."About what, Carrots?" Nick began brushing her fur, and licked up her blood to clean her neck.
Judy gave him a mischiviously curious look. "How exactly did you get a skunk's ass fur?"
His eyes went a little wide. "I, uh... Well, you see, I knew a guy with an odd kink..." Judy burst into laughter. He kissed her once she stopped, and looked deeply into her eyes. "You know you love me."
"Do I know that?" She looked to the corner and raised an eyebrow. Nick's smile dropped, momentarily appearing confused. "Yes." She turned her head back, and smiled warmly to him. He gave her the same gentle look, his emerald eyes sparkling with a tear. "Yes, I do."
