The Wishing Well

Chapter, The First

Introductions

Long ago, a well was built but now long forgotten sits hidden in a forest. A civilization rose and was razed to the ground. Time forgot about the land, and then a man came up the side of the mountain and decided to build a house, and it just so happened it wasn’t far from the well. This man was of the earlier settlers of the area, but not so early as to be a “settler,” he just happened to be amount the first to inhabit this particular area. He was a simple man and lived a simple life at that time. He built his modest house out of the trees of the area but didn’t take more than he needed. He made sure each cut was thought out and planed long before any tree met blade and made full use of each tree. It wasn’t too long before he had his house built. Then he started the process of making the most of a patch of soil near by for farming vegetables and starting a small herd of farm animals.

There was a river he found nearby that he diverted a small amount of for his little patch of homeland. It wasn’t long after this though, while hunting out in the woods surrounding for some deer, he came across an old and long neglected well, that seemed well sheltered. It was built on a stone platform and had a nice old-world stone cover that rose out of the stone without a seam and came to a crested point above and overhanging it. As this man investigated the well, he noticed a crank and attached to it with a strong rope that had survived somehow an incredibly intricate crystal bucket. He lowered the bucket down and brought up the water to test it and get a look. When it hit the water, it felt like he met a bit of resistance like the water was running slowly, it was cold like running water too and the river wasn’t far off which meant it might be an underground offshoot. There were no other structures visible in the area, not even holes in the ground. He smelt of it, and it smelt like fresh clean river water or cold spring water. The taste was amazing though, unlike the river nearby something seemed different about this water.

When he stood there over it, looking down into the black hole, the only sound he heard though now, was a small bit of breeze echoed likely from above. Though, it was almost that he thought he heard something else carried on the echo like a calling of some sort. It was almost not even noticeable, to the point he just shrugged it off. He poured the water from the bucket out into his canteen and then spilled the rest back into the well and put the bucket on a little purpose-built alcove on the side. He noticed here, on the bucket was inscribed what seemed to be old Latin, which he knew a little of but not a lot. One word stuck out, volo. Volo here meaning wish. He couldn’t make out much besides that, but it got a notion turning in his head… could this be one of those old “wishing wells” one hears about in childhood fairy tales?

He leaned over the well again, doffing his hat this time in reverence to the situation and before any possible spirits, guardians, or gods/goddesses. There was one thing that he had always wanted, even though he was a simple man who didn’t want for much he had always wanted a family and the wealth to take care of them. He closed his eyes, feeling a bit foolish but it wouldn’t hurt to try, and spoke softly to the echoing breeze:

“I wish I could have a family, and the wealth and knowledge to take care of them, and that this wealth would carry down the generations.”

It was a wish from the heart, and the well echoed a warm breeze back up against his face for a moment before it went cool again. There was also a faint sound almost like someone said too faintly to really hear

“May your wish be granted.”

Then again it could just be his imagination. He sat down on the stone, resting his shoed feet on the soil below it for a moment before getting up and taking off back home. It wouldn’t be long though before strange coincidences started to pile up in his life.

One day while out trekking through the woods, he was shooting at a deer but missed. His shot hit the ground, and up from this hole came a black ooze. He quickly realized he had struck rare near surface well of oil, contained it as best he could and ran back home to get on his horse and ride into town to get the right people notified via telegraph. Within a few days people raced onto his land and paid him a rich-man’s sum for this small pocket of oil. Then on the way to the bank to put his new wealth into an account, he ran into the woman that he would latter marry. When he returned home, he noted his crops were doing better than ever could have been expected with the new water source he had diverted onto his land. Everything was growing way larger and more plentiful than normally would have occurred. His animals seemed to be healthy and his cows putting on plenty of meat and the milking cows putting out more than normal amounts of milk that seemed of a higher quality than he was used to… not supernatural here, but much better than would be expected of animals of the time without today’s antibiotics, steroids, and scientifically altered and monitored feeds. He had so much extra milk that he was able to take it to town and sell it for a handsome fee; and when it came time to slaughter the animals for beef and meats, it was well beyond plentiful such that he made a bounty on it as well for what he didn’t save for himself and cure.

He was eventually able to make enough money from this to buy more animals and expand his crop land, build a farmhouse for the animals and equipment. Then from this expansion came more expansion and more animals, eventually making enough excess funds that he bought the small company that owned the oil well and began to search his land for further wells nearby… always keeping his water well a well-guarded secret. He indeed found two other small wells not far off the original, and made a mint there-in. By this point he was able to buy a sizeable diamond ring and propose to the woman he had loved for a while at this point, and they did marry in a large ceremony. The marriage was large not because he wanted to show off or anything, but because he spared no expense for his family and what she wanted she got. She wasn’t one to normally expend large amounts of money, she was a down to earth woman, but you only get one chance at the wedding and it’s something they both agreed to in the end and so he lavished her with an entire day of over the top excesses, and took her home to a secretly redone bedroom all for her with the best that a man could buy in those times in that area. It was here that their first son was conceived. He never bought much else for the cabin. But he did get one of these new “cars” for when they needed to get to town. Eventually they grew large enough a company together, that he began to buy out other oil mining operations in the larger area. And soon they had a girl and boy, twins. The family was coming along right with the company. He took care of his little ones, lavished them early on but made sure he didn’t spoil them for too long. They had to earn their place in the family and thus earn the right to the family wealth once they became of age, starting at the bottom of the company and working their way up. It was hard on them, but it gave them the knowledge of how money is

earned and why one doesn’t just spend it willy-nilly.

By this point the man had built an empire, and owned the new-land’s largest oil company, and had moved into a nice large house with his wife and eldest son. He gave the old house and farm to his younger son, and the daughter. This was part of his plan of helping them earn their living the right way. They would have to keep up the farm, the land, and the animals, and work their way up to the starting point of working for the company as stated before while keeping the farm and its animals up. If they could do this, they would inherit their rightful place in the financial structure of the man’s wealth. They would do well eventually, and somehow naturally from their young age. He had helped them learn what they needed to, but set them on their own eventually, and they did well. It was long after they had set out for their own careers in the starting positions of the company and gone far enough that the man felt that he had his family and it was enough. He let the farm go and sold off the animals but kept the property.

Years went by, and the family prospered. He had not expected a last gift from his wish so many years ago. The other children were not the best natured when they grew up, even though he had taught them well enough, wealth can have a way with some. So, he had resigned to eventually having to give his fortunes over to a family that could do well with it and the somewhat grounded nature they had kept them from being excessive but… they seemed to grow colder with time. This gift though, was one last child. A child that brought back a warm and bubbly nature to his and his wife’s life, a child they named Jason. But seeing that his now middle son and wife couldn’t have children his gave them one last gift, Jason to raise under one condition. He would not fail to ground this one properly though. He did his best to tend to the grand child in his ailing state, knowing he wasn’t long for this world. And when Jason came of age, he had his middle child send Jason off to the old family farmland, this time real hard honest work would have to be done just to bring the farm back to life as it had not been tended to for many years and was in a sorry state for sure.

Here we leave you for now. Jason pulls up in a luxury vehicle, a young man with a cute “baby-face” due to the lack of any facial hair and a thin body. He was naturally thin, with a tailor-made suite that fit him well. As he stepped out of the expensive car with dust on its lower regions, Jason looked around at the dilapidated nature of the grounds and just exclaimed:

“Ew. What a dump, where does he expect me to live while I bring this up? There weren’t any hotels nearby!” he said to no one in particular.

That’s where another car rolled up next to his, and out stepped a gentleman not a heck of a lot older than Jason.

“Father! What the heck?!?” Jason exclaimed exasperated.

“You already know why you’re hear as I told your earlier, if you want your inheritance you will bring this place up to livable conditions and make a profitable farm out of it. I for one had to do it myself, though it wasn’t let go like this as he wasn’t expecting another child when he let this place go like he had. But you will have help.”

Just then a beat-up old RV rattled up the hill to pull up on the farthest side in a cloud of red mountain clay dust, the engine clattering to a stop. Out stepped a set of men. One shorter than the other, both looked to have strong backs. The shorter one was thinner than the Tall one who was portlier but portrayed an aura of strength with the muscles that showed through the adipose.

“Jason, meet Jack.” He pointed out the shorter man. Jack stepped forward in his dusty overalls and shook with a strong but slightly grimy hand from having had to repair the RV along the way.

“And I’m called Mark!” The larger man boisterously stated as he stepped in and gave an overly strong grip and a halted single shake of the hand. The man was clad similarly, but his clothing was clearly a size or so too small. Jason was taken aback a bit by this sudden onslaught of strength, and as the man leaned into it imposingly Jason got a whiff of his strong musk and it drove his cheeks a light shade of red as his cock shifted a bit within his trousers. He kept his composure though and gracefully shifted his weight to take the grip better and then let go.

Jason turned to the old house… “So, what are we to do with this?”

“Demolish and rebuild, the appropriate tools and bins will show up tomorrow. For now, you can make your place in our little home away from home. Either of the beds on the left side are yours, top or bottom. There’s storage under either with cloths that should fit you that your father had sent.” Jack stated, and showed him into the old and rusting RV as Mark setup the jacks under the RV. Jason was repulsed with how small and dilapidated the old thing was, and the smell of musk was strong in the place, he could clearly smell Mark which made up for it slightly at least. It was otherwise clean, but still it stank of man and work. Would he really have to live in such cramped space just to get his inheritance? At least once they had his bedroom built, he could move into that, so he had his motivation for now.
