Second Interlude
The winners and losers take a break on this day, and some of them are already plotting against one another for the loser's bracket, while the others are just relaxing.
Appletun was checking out some more cooking ingredients for his next dish, or more accurately, his next fight.
“Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I will cherish the moment of freedom you’ve given me to earn my freedom back” Tropius, who took it upon himself to accompany him, said as he carried ingredients for him.
“Oh not at all, in fact, your tribe will be most useful to having your support, and the resources your territory holds. All I ask for is your support in the upcoming fights, and the support of your tribe with the legitimacy of my new rule, should I win” Appletun said as he picked out some fruits.
“Of course! You’ve given me my freedom, and you’re a much better ruler than that heinous Corviknight. You’ll have my full support the whole way” Tropius added.
“Still… There is the matter of your matches…” Appletun slowly said, before side eyeing the tribal chief.
“I would sooner give the crown to you than accept the role as king. But… I will still want to fight with all my might… I have embarrassed my people enough, all I ask for is a fair fight against you if I make it. My pride and honor is more important than the crown, as long as my people are allowed to keep to themselves than to be abused by Corviknight’s army, then I will gladly follow your lead” Tropius said as he gave a determined look at Appletun.
“Then it’s a win-win for us, should we both make it to the finals. I might even give Corviknight over to your tribe to make him pay tribute to his crimes. Not that I want to let him go, but it’s enough for me to have Aggron as my personal bitch, should I win all the way~” Appletun said as he smirked.
Appletun was going to have a lot of fun, he may not be allowed to touch or order Aggron around today since he was part of the loser’s bracket, but he had a new toy to play with Tropius, and that was the former candidate, Corviknight.
…
Aggron was at an empty area, practicing with his metamorphing weapon, honing his strength and skill with it, determined to no longer be someone’s slave again. He was going to win… He didn't intend to hand it over to that chef…
“Care for a sparring partner?” A voice behind Aggron said.
Corviknight had intruded upon his space, making Aggron growl at his presence.
“Why should I even consider that, especially after you mocked me for my loss?” Aggron said as he pointed his weapon at him.
“... Relax. I’d rather you win than that chef. But… Know that I won’t stand by to see you crowned king either once he’s out of the picture. No opportunities to seize leadership is available any longer, but I’d rather contribute to your downfall should you become the victor” Corviknight said as he brandished his own dark sword.
“Hahaha! I love a good fight! Mind if I join you?” Another voice said as they were met with Walrein, still brandishing his two scimitars, the same ones that controlled water and ice.
“Piss off! This is between him and I” Aggron growled at him.
“Oh I don’t have any stakes in your arguments… But I figured I’d give you some idea of how I fight, maybe then you’d stand a chance” Walrein said, chuckling as he sheathed his scimitars.
“Hmph… Maybe he’d need it, he’s a rusty old man who could do some pointers. It’s good to see that two old men were matched up against each other, what a shame I wouldn’t be there to beat both of you” Corviknight gloated.
“Who the hell are you calling old man, boy?” Walrein growled.
“Either way, you were singing a different tune in your defeat. I heard you moaned like a slut from that barbarian. Do you also plan on losing to the little pipsqueak too?” Aggron asked Walrein.
“That was a mere setback. I was too confident that I underestimated my opponent thinking he lost. As for you though, with what happened to you and Appletun, I don’t think you’d be breaking out of my ice if you get caught in it” Walrein retorted.
Corviknight shrugged, he had no stakes here, and left the two to continue quarreling. Besides, he remembered the commands that Appletun told him.
“You will be Tropius’ prize for this afternoon, don’t be late before noon. Otherwise, I will punish you”
Corviknight cringed, he was not exempted from the king’s rule to follow his new master’s orders since he wasn’t qualified for the loser’s bracket. He just hoped Tropius wouldn’t be rough with him, knowing how much payback he wants.
…
Drapion was punching the wall several times, so much so he almost felt his fists bruising, before stopping before he could do more damage.
He grabbed an aluminum bat and started dragging it around. He was never one to ask others for help, nor did he ever intend to.
Drapion still felt traumatized by what Dusknoir had done to him. He still remembered being trapped inside his body, but the inside of Dusknoir’s body was full of tentacles, slime, he didn’t comprehend how he fit inside, but it was a different dimension altogether. He remembered how he wasn’t given a single break while inside. And no hole of his was left alone… He shivered at the thought.
“Bah! Stupid fucking tournament, I’ll sabotage the tournament if I have to, I won’t be at the mercy of fucking faggots!” Drapion said as he didn’t want to experience a similar fate as he did with Dusknoir again.
“Oh? If you do that, I might have to intervene then. Or would you like me to tell the others?” Slowking said, as he had been spying on him.
“Y-You… How long were you listening!? I’ll fucking murder you if you tell anyone!” Drapion threatened him.
“Oh? I doubt you can do anything to me. Or would you like me to simulate the same experience you had with Dusknoir with my newfound powers?” Slowking asked, as he conjured a doorway.
The doorway then opened to reveal a flesh prison, full of tentacles and slime, making Drapion shiver at the sight.
“N-No… Get that away from me…!” Drapion took a few steps back, feeling his knees almost buckle seeing the replication of his fears.
The door closed, and disappeared at Slowking’s whim.
“I have stakes in this tournament, even if I lost the match. So please don’t get in my way, or else I’ll make sure to send you inside. Who knows, I might even forget you were in there” Slowking said with a smile, before leaving Drapion.
Drapion gulped… Slowking must have read his mind, and if he were to avoid such a fate, he should play by the rules for once.
…
“Cheers! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Electivire and his crew laughed and drank in the bar again, having the time of their life once again in the bar, celebrating yet another victory for all of them once more.
Unbeknownst to them however, a hooded figure came up to them and suddenly slammed his fists onto the table.
“It’s all your damn fault you bastard!” The hooded figure said as he removed his hood.
It was Nidoking, and he was somehow pissed.
“Heh, what is it this time? Shouldn’t you be training for your match?” Electivire said as he downed a glass of beer.
“Because of you… I lost my part of the wealth with my family! And my wife decided to leave me, along with taking my son! Now I don’t have a dime to myself except this stupid hammer!” Nidoking yelled at him.
“Well then it’s a good way to know what it feels like being poor, isn’t it Nidoking?” Electivire said as he continued drinking.
“You little…!” Nidoking said, attempting to swing his hammer right at Electivire, only to stop as Dusknoir appeared out of nowhere.
“Is there a problem here… Master?” Dusknoir said as he crossed his arms, mummy wrappings appearing out of nowhere to restrain Nidoking.
Nidoking was shocked that… That Dusknoir of all the contestants was defending him.
“No, let him go. He got the message by now” Electivire said as Dusknoir let go of Nidoking.
“You… Why are you following him…? Don’t you have your own pride!?” Nidoking said, questioning Dusknoir.
“Oh he did, or he used to. With his followers gone, he clung to the only thing giving him purpose. Me. I am practically his master now in his eyes, ahahahahaha!” Electivire said as he refilled his glass.
Nidoking was fuming, and didn’t say another word as he left. As powerful as Dusknoir was to be out of the competition, Electivire was far more annoying than him.
…
“And you think you can win this fight? That opponent of yours just gave the most dangerous opponents a bit of trouble hitting him, and his opponent got lucky enough to injure him while he was caught off guard” Pangoro said as he and Simisear sat in a restaurant, eating some mushroom cream soup.
“Oh please, do you think I’ll lose? Awww and I didn’t think you’d be worried about me!” Simisear said as he scratched the back of his head.
Pangoro slammed his fist on the table.
“Watch it you little shit, I’m not worried about you. I’m more worried about who I’ll be facing if I do win this tournament. Just understand I won’t be going easy on you if you win the loser’s bracket” Pangoro said, as if reiterating what he really felt.
“Relaaaax. It’s not like I have any intention to work as king, well, it would be good to have my own place to not work anymore and to laze around in. Besides, you got this in the bag” Simisear said as he ravenously ate some chicken a waitress gave him.
“Easy for you to say when you’re not the one doing all the hard work around here” Pangoro said as he crossed his arms.
“MAYBE you’d have an easier time trying to fight the others if you ask us directly to help. Speaking of which, where’s Slowking?” Simisear asked as he wiped the food off of his mouth.
“Slowking is keeping an eye on and trying to see who might become a dangerous opponent. Like Drapion. We never did get to see his full potential so I asked him to keep an eye on him and the others” Pangoro said as he had his mind on his son, wondering if he was alright by himself. He made sure to stock up on supplies before he left, but he also knew his son was resourceful, and knew how to forage for himself.
“Oh I see! Though I expected you to be more worried about Hypno himself. Isn’t he one of the guys who had you almost killed that one time you told me?” Simisear asked Pangoro.
“Yes, he had attempted that with me, I tried to hunt him down, but he, along with his conspirators escaped, except for a few I managed to get rid of permanently” Pangoro growled, thinking of those bastards just gave him a headache.
“That reminds me, what’s it like being a mercenary for hire?” Simisear asked Pangoro.
“What’s it like? Not reliable, what with my former employers almost killing me. But it keeps me and my son fed” Pangoro briefly told him.
“Oh? A son?” Simisear asked.
“Yes, right now he’s living by himself while I’m out. I’ll talk about him another time, looks like Slowking has something to tell us” Pangoro said as Slowking joined them.
“Yes, I do have information to tell you. None of the other fighters are plotting much, except for Drapion. Drapion was intending to sabotage the match ups, but I intervened and threatened him in case he wanted to be in a dimension full of tentacles” Slowking said to him.
“Wait how’d you do that?” Simisear asked Slowking, wondering if he can replicate abilities.
“Let’s just say I can partially replicate the abilities of other contestants, in a way” Slowking chuckled.
“Then he’ll definitely lose. Only those who cheat in a bout of strength and strategy are the ones who know they have a low chance of winning” Pangoro said, before he started eating his mutton chops.
Slowking decided to order some of his own food for himself, transmuting a piece of napkin into poke for him to spend, while Simisear and Pangoro continued eating.
…
Spinda and Audino were riding Tyrantrum, sitting on his shoulders as he ‘gladly’ walked in their stead, happy to serve his ‘masters’ with his strength.
“I didn’t think your lucky charm was actually an evolution stone, Spinda. Did you really know about it because you were worried for me?” Audino asked, now back to his original form, it seemed that he couldn’t permanently stay in his mega evolution form for that long.
“No, but I was worried for you. It’s a good thing I did, because if I hadn’t, I don’t think I’d even be talking to you right now” Spinda said as he flexed his arm a bit, he would be fully healed by tomorrow if things went well without a hitch with his recovery.
“No, I don’t think we’d even be able to talk to anyone at all. Still, this boosts my chances of winning, and seeing my brother awake again” Audino said as he smiled.
“Right, your brother… You really do deserve to win, knowing you’re doing it for someone else. I was just in this tournament for myself, to rebuild my dojo!” Spinda said as he smiled back at him.
“I have such good masters, fighting for something bigger than themselves. And now I get to be part of it!” Tyrantrum said, smiling as he was all too glad to be used by them.
Audino patted his head like someone would with their pet.
“Well I’ll be counting on you to serve us both Tyrantrum, it will certainly be a boon to have you help me with the rest of the matches” Audino said, smiling a bit sinisterly, he was still curious though if the original personality was still somewhere out there in Tyrantrum’s mind, or if it had been erased completely, thus killing him in a way and replacing him with Audino’s ideal version of a brute that ended up as his willing slave.
As Tyrantrum carried his masters, he accidentally bumped shoulders with someone, who had become quite mad.
“Who the hell do you think you are bumping against me?” Slither Wing said as he turned back around at Tyrantrum.
“Sorry, Tyrantrum was just-” Audino was going to apologize, but Tyrantrum cut him off.
“And why the hell is it your business huh? Raising your voice at master… Master, shall I break this bug’s bones and crush him!?” Tyrantrum asked as he was all too eager to get violent in his master’s name.
Slither Wing and Tyrantrum then butted heads, their strength being equal as they began pushing harder with their foreheads. They also began feeling a bit hot too, with how Slither Wing’s body was heating up intensely.
“N-No! I mean, no Tyrantrum, it’s not worth it. Just apologize to him for now” Audino said as he tried to deescalate the situation.
Tyrantrum growled, before taking a step back, and bowing slightly, enough to bow, but not enough to make both Spinda and Audino fall off his shoulders.
“I apologize, that was rude of me” Tyrantrum apologized to Slither Wing.
“Hmph… At least you can control your pet” Slither Wing said as he turned around and walked away.
Audino and Spinda sighed, they at least avoided an unneeded fight, or else they might have gotten disqualified.
“Looks like you should keep him in check, Audino. We might get disqualified” Spinda said as he felt like he was gonna get melted from the heat earlier.
“I’m sorry master… I-I almost got you disqualified… It was reckless of me!” Tyrantrum said, almost panicking with what he realized he had just done.
“It’s fine Tyrantrum, you still apologized. Because of that, we will reward you after Spinda’s fight” Audino said, rubbing under Tyrantrum’s neck, making the violent pokemorph murr a the attention he got from Audino.
…
“Not only was I beaten… But now I can seriously get myself brainwashed by these guys!?” Slither Wing said, punching the wall repeatedly, the damage getting absorbed into the wall and repairing itself almost instantly.
Slither Wing had retreated back to his room after that confrontation, it was not so that he had bumped into Tyrantrum that got him so angry, but that a seemingly weak and pathetic pokemorph had risen to be on par with a god of some sort with just a stone? He couldn’t accept it so easily,
“My followers all abandoned me in a heartbeat… Those ungrateful wretches thought they could just leave? After he had provided them with warmth at his presence in the north?” Slither Wing said to himself as he wanted nothing more than to quit this tournament and go back… But that also meant that if he left… It would mean he really did lose, and that he ran away with his stinger tucked between his legs.
Slither Wing couldn’t get his loss out of his mind, first, it was Slowking that beat him, then he finds out about all the ways his opponents were winning… They weren’t even using raw strength or power, they were outwitting one another.
“Gragh… Foolish to think I’d even lose to them… What am I thinking!? I can win easily! I just have to beat them hard and fast! I shouldn’t give them a chance to make cunning moves! I’ll prove the supremacy of my power, starting with that Dusknoir!” Slither Wing said, as he started doing push ups, determined to get stronger and brute force his way to victory.
