Broken Toys

What if toys become selfaware and are left to their own devices on a remote Island?

The Isanagi Corporation is one of the largest corporate conglomerates the planet has ever seen. It has its origins in a small playing card manufacturer and over the decades it has grown to incredible size. Clever management, a flair for the next big thing and an almost clairvoyant ability to read the market allowed Isanagi Corp. to swallow up or push competitors out of the market time and again over the years. Long gone are the days of the small playing card company. Now Isanagi Corp. produces almost everything there is. Household goods, electrical appliances, tools, heavy industry, video games, television series, but also toys.

The next big thing will be intelligent dolls. The market for action figures and collectibles is a constantly growing market and it is becoming apparent that the figurines, originally intended for children, are mainly bought by adult collectors. The market for "conversions" and "personalized" figurines is huge. The management is certain that if they launch a figurine that focuses on the adult market from the outset, it will be a hit.

"Let's incorporate the new AI... let's build a "robot doll" that can move on its own and respond to the owner's commands."

had been the suggestion of one of the managers. His colleagues had celebrated him like a hero. The new AI that Isanagi had developed was capable of enabling almost lifelike interactions with the player in computer games. The market for games with sexual content had literally exploded with this AI.

"If we're going to use this AI, then we should go to the full. I want to see fully modeled bodies. I want to have soft breasts and round butts that are equipped with touch-sensitive sensors. I want them to be able to do everything... really everything."

was the board's objection. It was agreed that this would dominate the market. But it had to be kept secret from the competition so that they could remain uncontested for as long as possible.

In the course of development, a remote island was acquired. A largely autonomous production plant was built on it. It was to be able to manufacture "the product", as it was only called by the Isanagi Corp. management, independently and maintenance-free for a long time. A large settlement was also built on the island, as it was considered unlikely that the production plant would be able to survive indefinitely without maintenance and repairs. In addition, the power plant required maintenance. Personnel would be needed to ship "the product" at the latest when it was launched on the market.

Everything was set up and the production plant was supplied with a large quantity of raw materials to be able to manufacture the first batch completely independently.

The decision had been made to follow the designs of an extremely popular cartoon series, whose merchandise was already being devoured by customers.

Everything was ready. They were just waiting for the starting shot.

Then came the stock market crash of '57 and overnight most companies lost almost their entire value. Heads rolled. Companies went bankrupt from one day to the next.

Almost the entire top management of Isanagi Corp. was held accountable for this disaster. A large part of them committed suicide in the first few days after the crash. The remaining management desperately tried to avert the inevitable.

In the end, they failed. Isanagi Corp. was broken up and the remains were auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Nobody thought any more about the management's secret project and nobody could do anything with the code name "the product".

The island was quickly forgotten and, as they had deliberately chosen a remote location, no one happened to come across this marvel of modern robotics.

The years passed. The resources of the production plant were exhausted. "The product" had been manufactured and was waiting to be delivered by the millions in the production plant's extensive warehouses.

As there were no resources available for further production, the plant was shut down in accordance with its programming.

When the plant was shut down, the island fell silent. Nature reclaimed the island bit by bit. Slowly, the streets and squares became overgrown and the houses that had originally been built for the workers were now inhabited by the island's fauna. The first victim of this reconquest was the power plant, whose sensitive technology threatened to fail more and more without maintenance. When the plants finally caused a short circuit in one of the transformer stations, the unthinkable happened.

The power fluctuations in the grid ensured that the first "dolls", as they would later call themselves, were activated. They freed themselves from their packaging and, following their programming, went in search of a power source to recharge their batteries. However, the constant fluctuations in the power grid caused something to happen to their programming that no one could have foreseen. They "came to life".

"It's been 25 years since we were awakened. The creators left us here. All we could learn from the chronicles of the mainframe is that we were supposed to be picked up at some point. We have waited. Waited a long time. But the creators never came. We sent out scouts. Many did not return. Those who came back told us of a dangerous world. Of wild animals and abandoned buildings.

Many of our scouts fell victim to the wild animals. They can't eat us, but they destroy us. We are nothing but toys to them. A brief means of amusement. But they are not the only danger out there.

Renegades roam the wasteland. Dolls whose minds have been tainted by the corruption. They no longer belong to our community and they prey on lonely and defenceless dolls.

We learned early on that our strength lies in our numbers. That's why we came together and founded this settlement.

Welcome to Doll Hub Prime.

This is the largest and oldest of the doll settlements. Here you were awakened by the reanimators of our clan. You will become part of our community. You will contribute to our community with your skills. You will be assigned to one of the teams according to your aptitude and work for the good of the community.

A word of warning.

Do not leave the settlements. It's not safe out there. Unless you have been assigned to one of the Explorator teams, stay within our walls at all times.

Now go. Complete your tasks."

His voice sounded distorted. His yellow skin covered in countless scratches, the cracked plastic of his chasis, his ear broken off halfway up and his eye cracked bore witness to a long, hard life. He leaned on a long staff adorned with many "trophies". His crude prosthesis, made from a steel bolt, was not quite the right size, which is why he always limped a little and looked crooked.

The newly awakened dolls nodded and turned around. They went to other dolls that looked like them and were already waiting for them to take them to the various work areas of the settlement.

"Do you always have to be so prophetic, Yellow?"

Asked a young-sounding voice behind the old doll. Yellow's kinked tail twitched and he turned around with difficulty. A smile creased his face when he saw the doll behind him.

She stood there in all her splendor. Still almost completely intact, apart from the thickly applied camouflage paint that had not yet dried.

"By the creators! Look at you, child! What happened?"

He asked, his distorted voice resonating with something like fatherly warmth. He looked at her shapely body, which was still completely free of damage. Her expansive hips, which she had pertly pushed to one side, her ample breasts, which were even more prominent with her arms crossed behind her back. But his eyes remained fixed on her eyes. They beamed at him like the grandfather he could be. She smiled broadly and tilted her head.

"I have my first mission outside today."

She announced cheerfully and stepped towards him. His gaze darkened slightly.

"You're not ready yet. You haven't been on patrol long enough. You don't know the dangers that lurk out there, beyond the satellites."

His voice sounded nervous and worried. But she just shook her head.

"That will change today."

Yellow sighed deeply, which sounded like holding a playing card in the fan thanks to his damaged voicebox. He shook his head.

"I'm not going to be able to dissuade you anyway, am I Eve?"

Eve smiled and nodded.

"Yes, Claire was so pleased with my performance on the last caravan that she recommended me to the Explorators. I'm going to be a Stalker. It's so exciting."

Eve gushed and she accompanied the old doll to a bench where he sat down with a groan.

"How many caravans has this been for you?"

He asked as he placed his staff in front of him and continued to lean on it.

"I was on three caravans to the mainframe settlement and this was my second caravan forward to the guard station. My second caravan with combat duty."

She told him proudly, and he could hear her excitement growing. He thought back to the time when he himself had run with the caravans as an escort.

The caravans were an important part of the economy in the settlements. Without them, neither goods nor dolls could be transported from one settlement to the next. As a rule, they consisted of two to four carts pulled by two to four dolls. As well as an escort of a few dolls under arms. The caravans inside the manufacturing plant were reasonably safe and rarely encountered resistance in the form of wild animals. But the satellite settlements further forward, such as the guard station, were in areas where attacks were more frequent. These caravans were better guarded and were considered much more dangerous. But they were still no comparison to the wasteland outside the manufacturing plant.

Yellow looked worriedly at Eve.

"Combat mission. Well, well... What did you fight?"

He asked, already knowing the answer before Eve said it.

"We were attacked by wild rats. Three of them on the way there and two on the way back. I killed two of them all by myself."

Eve announced with a proudly swollen chest. Yellow couldn't deny that killing a wild rat wasn't easy. Especially not with the weapons the escorts usually had at their disposal. Spears, machetes and perhaps bows and arrows. The better weapons were reserved for the stalkers.

"Impressive. And now you're supposed to join the Stalkers? Are you sure that's what you want? You know rats will be the least of your problems out there. Foxes, renegades..."

He didn't get any further, because Eve interrupted him.

"... Yes, yes, I know. I've heard the stories hundreds of times. The big predators hunt at night, that's why we hide at night and wander by day. We avoid danger and don't seek confrontation. If we see a renegade, we retreat. It's not worth the risk of falling into their hands... blah... blah... blah..."

She cackled, making the blah-blah gesture with her hand. Yellow's look turned serious.

"You don't believe me that it's dangerous out there?"

He asked with a distinctly frustrated undertone in his distorted voice and pointed to his leg. Eve waved him off.

"... Yeah... I know a fox bit your leg off because you were careless and you were very lucky to get back. But that's the thing, you yourself say that you were careless. YOU weren't careful and YOU got the punishment for it. I pay attention. It won't happen to ME...“

She lectured him. Yellow's expression remained serious.

"You don't know anything. Do you see the trophies on my staff? Those are memories of the other young Stalkers who went into the Wasteland before you and never came back. We don't always find their bodies. But when we do find them, well. Rarely do we find a whole body. Often something is missing. Usually the battery or individual body parts. Trophies."

Yellow looked at his collection on his staff.

"The renegades probably use them to repair their own bodies. That's all still normal. That's what you expect when you find a dead Stalker. But sometimes..."

Yellow sighed and turned the staff in his hands.

"... sometimes we found disturbing things. Dolls whose bodies had been abused. We found dolls whose orifices were filled with semen. Or whose bodies were covered in it. Only the creators know what had happened to them."

He looked urgently at Eve, his eyes reflecting his concern.

"It's a war zone out there. No rules apply there. No one will go easy on you just because it's your first mission."

He added in an almost freightened tone. Eve looked at him and shook her head.

"Listen to yourself old man. There are not so many renegades left out there. How high are the chances of me running into one of them? Neglectable at best and slim at worst. And besides, we have better weapons these days."

Eve reprimanded her mentor. Yellow drooped his half ear and tilted his head.

"Oh yeah? What kind of weapons do you have today that I didn't?"

He asked, slightly annoyed. Eve grinned ear to ear.

"I'm getting a sniper rifle. The gunsmiths at the guard station are making it right now. It's powerful enough for a fox at almost 100 meters and I can hit the skull of a renegade from almost 50 meters."

Eve indicated, gesturing with an imaginary rifle.

"Provided he keeps still."

Yellow commented, but he couldn't help but admit that a sniper rifle sounded much better than the crossbow he had been carrying around. Eve looked at him challengingly, but he easily withstood her gaze.

"Promise me you'll be careful..."

He looked up at the trophies on his staff, each one a mournful reminder.

"... I don't want to add you to them."

He said, giving her a pained look. Eve smiled a young, innocent smile.

"I promise you. It's a simple mission. We're just supposed to get a few odds and ends from the houses. Fuses and capacitors."

Now Yellow was paying attention.

"We? You're not going alone? That makes me feel much better."

The relief in his voice was clearly perceptible, but Eve shook her head.

"No, I'm going alone, but several Stalkers are being sent out. I'll go with Gillian as far as the guard station, and from there we'll go our separate ways."

She explained. Yellow took a deep breath and nodded.

It had always been the case that Stalkers traveled alone. Even if it was perhaps safer to travel in larger groups, the larger the group, the more attention you attracted. So Stalkers walked alone. That way, they were most likely to remain undetected. And, even if this sounds terribly nihilistic, you only ever lost one Stalker, not an entire group.

Eve stood up. It was time to go. She would use the remaining time to fully recharge her battery and concentrate on the task at hand.

She said goodbye to Yellow. He wished her "Waidmans Heil", an old greeting among Stalkers that dated back to an ancient hunting caste and wished the departing hunter luck in his endeavor. Eve replied with "Waidmanns Dank", as tradition demanded.

She withdrew, leaving the old doll alone with his thoughts. Yellow looked to his trophies on his staff.

"I just hope she's right..."

It was early the next morning when Eve was woken by a loud banging on her door. She opened her eyes and looked around. Her HUD showed her that it was 5 a.m. and that her battery was fully charged. She sat up and pulled the charging cable out of its socket.

There was another banging on her door.

"Eve, get out of that fart box. It's time."

That was Gilian's voice, clearly. Eve stretched and stood up.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm already coming."

She barked back, gathering the few belongings she would be taking with her on her mission. She stowed everything in a small shoulder bag and went to the door. She opened the door and found herself face to face with a rat's skull. Eve shrank back and heard the roaring laughter from Gilian, who was holding the skull.

"Very funny... HA HA..."

Eve snorted and came back to the door.

"Yeah really funny... hehehehehe... you should have seen your stupid face."

Gilian laughed and handed her the skull. Eve took the bone in disgust and then looked at Gilian again.

"And what am I supposed to do with this... thing?"

She asked and Gilian grinned broadly.

"Well, this is your first trophy. After all, you killed two of them. Be proud of it. Hang it on the wall or whatever."

Gilian explained, but finally waved it off and tapped her wrist. Eve laid the skull on her bed, she would deal with it when she got back. She led Gilian out of the door and pulled it shut behind her. She followed the other doll through the settlement.

Gilian was a slightly older doll. She had been through a lot more missions and had the scars to prove it. Her original color had been red at some point. Where the camouflage paint had flaked off due to damage, the scarlet red could still be seen shining through. Numerous tears had been repaired over time with zip ties and tape, more poorly than properly. She was missing a finger on her right hand, which she constantly claimed she had left as a pledge with a renegade. Her left eye had once been replaced with one of the wrong color. "Hold on tight while you ride" was written in marker across her bottom and she had drawn eyes on her breasts. She was completely crazy. The other Stalkers always said that the only reason she was still alive was because she was completely insane and no Renegade dared to approach her.

Perhaps not the right partner for a first mission, but they would only travel with each other as far as the guard station and until then they were part of a caravan.

"And are you ready for your first real adventure?"

Gilian asked, playing with a knife made from the fang of a fox. Eve shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't really know, it's all so surreal. I don't know how to picture it all. I've never been out on my own before."

Eve admitted and made an effort to keep up with her companion.

When they arrived at the caravan base, the caravan was already assembled. This time, most of the caravan would be made up of personnel; the armory was constantly in need of new staff. Handling explosives was very dangerous after all. The caravan would bring fresh personnel to the guard station and bring injured personnel back to Doll Hub Prime. In the hope that at least one or two dolls could be repaired.

As part of the escort, Gilian and Eve would help protect the personnel. Gilian went to one of the carts and picked up her weapons. Her rifle and ammunition had already been provided here last night. Eve, on the other hand, had to make do with the usual spears and machetes. She would only receive her rifle at the guard station. The caravan set off as planned and left the caravan base.

The way to the guard station was not very far. Most of the way led through some coridors to a security door that had been damaged at some point. From there, the route led outside across the courtyard of the production plant to the guard station. If nothing intervened, the caravan could cover the distance in just over 6 hours. As a rule, there were no attacks before the security door. But on the courtyard, it was almost guaranteed that the animals would attack. So far, Eve had only had to deal with cockroaches and rats. Annoying and sometimes threatening, but no real danger. This time they had a more experienced Stalker as escort and real fire support. So what could possibly go wrong?

In fact, nothing went wrong until they reached the security door. It was as boring as it could have been expected. Gilian and Eve walked next to each other. Gilian talked about her missions and what she had already experienced. Eve was glued to her lips. She soaked up every word Gilian spat out. In Eve's eyes, Gilian was a heroine.

It was only when they got to the security door that things changed a little. The scout who had run ahead came back and reported that it was raining heavily outside and that it would be better to wait inside until the weather improved. Gilian rolled her eyes and sighed.

"By the Creators, you're not made of sugar. Let's get going. Bad weather has the advantage that there are no hunters about."

Her annoyance was very clear in her voice, but the caravan leader denied it.

"We have sensitive cargo. It would be foolish to risk damaging the cargo over a few hours. We'll set up camp up ahead and wait for the rain to let up."

He insisted and steered the caravan into an alcove by the door. You could see that the caravan had stopped there several times before. Gilian and Eve joined the caravan. After all, it was their job to protect the caravan.

The two offered to take the first watch. Gilian leaned against the doorframe and looked out into the rain. Eve stood behind her. It was a beautiful, if not entirely safe, spectacle. The heavy drops hitting the puddles were blistering. The caravan would certainly have made slow progress.

"They're all so weak!"

Gilian whispered. Eve approached her.

"Well, not everyone is cut out to be a Stalker."

Replied Eve, but Gilian shook her head.

"You don't understand that. If you're weak, you're not just going to get yourself killed out there..."

Gilian whispered, absentmindedly rubbing the spot on her hand where her finger was missing. Eve stepped up next to her and looked at her questioningly.

"What do you mean?"

She asked. Gilian didn't look at her, she looked outside into the rain. It happened in a flash. Before Eve could react, Gilian had grabbed her by the arm, pulled her in front of herself, drawn her knife and pressed it to her throat. Eve wanted to protest and fight back, but Gilian was quicker.

"Shhhhh... not a sound..."

Hissed the Stalker. Eve tried to look back, but didn't dare turn her head.

"... if you're weak, you're fair game in the wasteland. There's an unwritten rule among Stalkers."

Gilian whispered as she pressed the blade further against Eve's throat. Her second hand slid slowly up her arm to Eve's shoulder, from there to her neck. Eve inhaled sharply as Gilian ran her hand over the soft sensitive rubber of her neck and squeezed gently.

"If you are weak or damaged. Then it's appropriate for anyone out there to use you."

Gilian's voice was rough and only now did Eve realize that Gilian was rubbing her where her body had been repaired in a makeshift manner. Gilian's hand slid downwards, from Eve's neck to her breasts. It was a strange feeling between fear, pain and... she didn't quite know how to describe it... lust? Perhaps. Gilian's hand was tender, but at the same time it was rough when it pinched Eve's breast and feasted on the soft sighs Eve let out.

"Renegades know no mercy. If one catches you and you show even a hint of weakness, he will devour you whole..."

Gilian said and let her hand slide further down from Eve's breasts. Her fingers scraped lightly over the hard plastic of Eve's stomach and further down to her hips. Eve bit her lower lip. She was getting hot, her breasts were tingling and she felt as if she could still feel Gilian's hand on them. Gilian grinned behind her and she could feel Eve's breathing quicken. The small movements she made in the hope of controlling Gilian's hand a little. The fact that Eve pressed her backside against Gilian and rubbed her tail between Gilian's legs. She took the blade from Eve's throat and eased it across her breasts. The cold ivory of the blade on Eve's hot breasts made her shiver.

"You like that, don't you?"

Gilian whispered in Eve's ear and slid her hand along Eve's groin into her intimate space. Eve's eyes widened. Yes. Yes indeed, she liked it. She was hot. The fear and the pain made her horny. She recognized a side of herself that she hadn't known before. She wanted Gilian to hurt her. She wanted her to be helplessly at his mercy. She wanted...

No. No, it must not be like this. She must not let herself go. Letting herself go meant death. Eve took a deep breath. She turned her head and saw Gilian, who seemed to be completely absorbed in her role.

"No... no I don't like it... stop it."

The lie was easy to see through and Gilian held Eve for a moment longer. But Eve put her arms up and pushed Gilian's away.

"I don't want this. I will be strong, I will not fall prey to a renegade."

She said it loud enough that one or two of the caravan turned to look at them. Gilian grinned, but let go of her. She took the knife from Eve's breast and brought her hand to her mouth. Her fingers were wet and Gilian looked at Eve with a knowing grin.

"Sure you didn't like it?"

She purred and licked her fingers sensually. Eve's face flushed with anger, or was it lust? She was literally trembling. Gilian shrugged and turned to leave.

"If you change your mind..."

And left the sentence in the room before she left. Eve looked after her for a moment before turning around in shame and staring out into the rain. She was hot. Unnaturally hot, and at the same time she felt terribly cold. Her hands ran over her neck. Tenderly touched the spot where just a few moments ago Gilian's blade had threatened to pierce the delicate rubber. It was a strange feeling. Almost sensually, she let her hands slide to her breasts. They were still highly sensitive and Eve shuddered at the thought of Gilian touching them in this way. She shivered as her hands slid further down. She bit her lip and tried desperately to stifle a moan as her hands ran over her stomach, the light scratch Gilian's fingers had left: a first scar...

"Hnnnng..."

She let out as she followed the scratch to her hip. She felt something hot running down her thigh. Her breathing was rapid and irregular. She ran her trembling hands along her groin to the center of her body. The soft rubber was hot and damp. Just touching it made her shiver.

"Hannn..."

She writhed and her tail twitched back and forth excitedly.

"Is everything alright with you?"

Shouted one of the other dolls accompanying the caravan. Eve flinched. Only now did she realize what she was about to do and where she was. She quickly pulled her hand out of her crotch and straightened up again. Embarrassed, she looked over her shoulder and smiled slightly.

"Yes, everything's fine... Just an unpleasant thought..."

She called back and turned around again. She looked at her fingers. They were wet. She rubbed them against each other. She resisted the urge to put them in her mouth... just long enough to realize it.

When she finally shyly put her fingers in her mouth, they tasted bitter, sweet. Eve slowly pulled them out again and licked her lips. That was something she could get used to.

The rain finally subsided and the caravan was able to continue on its way. There was a tense, uncomfortable silence between Gilian and Eve. The kind of silence where you actually want to say something, but don't dare to for reasons of vanity or shame. Eve's thoughts revolved around her experience with Gilian the whole time and Gilian's thoughts were unfathomable. Eve tried all the time to pluck up the courage to speak to Gilian, but in the end was unable to do so.

Finally, the caravan arrived at the guard station. They had killed another rat on the way. Gilian had already shot the rat from a distance and then went at the rodent like a fury. Eve had watched in horror as Gilian literally dismembered the rat. She had then returned to the caravan covered in blood. Eve could see the same horror she felt in the faces of the other dolls. She now understood why the other Stalkers thought Gilian was absolutely insane. She decided not to approach Gilian about their experience from earlier. The rest of the way had been completely quiet.

Gilian and Eve parted ways here. While Gilian headed straight off to complete her mission, Eve went to the armory to pick up her rifle. The armory, actually the arsenal of the guard service that was originally supposed to be stationed here, was a busy place. Dolls were everywhere, dismantling weapons to make new ones from their parts. Terrible accidents happened here all the time and the staffing levels were high.

When Eve entered the armory, another doll was already standing behind the reception counter. Eve approached the counter and greeted the doll.

"Greetings, I'm Eve."

The doll behind the counter nodded kindly.

"Greetings Eve, I'm Zevin. What can I do for you?"

Eve smiled.

"Zevin, a nice name..."

She stated with a wink and as she leaned seductively against the counter, she added:

"...I'm here to pick up my gun."

She said in a husky voice. Zevin grinned and leaned against the counter as well.

"Oh... a gun, you say... hmmm... which one?"

He tried to imitate her tone of voice and looked down at himself with a sly grin. When he winked, they both ended up laughing. Zevin caught himself first, straightened up and smiled at her.

"All right, joking aside. Which weapon would you like to pick up?"

Eve was almost disappointed when her attempt at flirting failed, but in the end it didn't matter. She pulled a note out of her shoulder bag and handed it to Zevin.

"My sniper rifle. It should be ready."

She said calmly and waited for a response. Zevin read the note and in the end nodded.

"Yes... Yes, the rifle is ready. Just a moment."

He gestured for her to wait and went to the back of the shop. It wasn't long before he came back to the front with a futeral and a small box. He placed the futeral on the counter and opened it.

"Here we have an Isanagi Mark 3 sniper rifle. Complete with scope, 5-round magazine and futeral..."

He explained, not without pride. He stepped over to the box and opened the shutter.

"... and here are four more magazines."

He closed the box again and leaned on the counter.

"Rifle and 25 rounds of ammunition. Be economical. If you run out of ammo out there, this beauty here..."

He stroked the gun almost caressingly before looking back at her.

"... is just a beautiful club."

Eve looked at her brand new weapon. A grin crept onto her face as she held out her hand for the weapon. Carefully, she placed her fingers on the breech of the gun. A feeling of power flowed through her.

"May I...?"

She asked, looking up at Zevin. He nodded.

"Of course, it's yours."

He said and smiled. This reaction was not unfamiliar to him. Eve carefully took the rifle out of the futeral and weighed it in her hands. It was surprisingly light. She shouldered it and tried to look through the scope, but couldn't see anything. Grinning, Zevin leaned over the counter and pressed a small button and the protective flaps in front of the lenses flipped open.

"That's better."

He said with a laugh and Eve agreed with him. She could feel herself becoming more powerful. Slowly, she took the gun down and placed it back on the futeral. She opened the box and took the magazines. She stowed them in the shoulder bag and then picked up the rifle again. She nodded once more and left the armory again.

It was time to go to the stalkers and find out the details of her mission.

The Stalkers' hideout was close to the front gate of the guard station. It was a surprisingly small room, the walls of which were literally papered with maps. Buildings were marked on all the maps. Some were marked with short descriptions, such as: "Completely empty." or "Beware of the foxhole." or "Computer lab on the upper floor."

In the middle of the room was a large table piled high with papers. A doll that looked almost as battered as Yellow stood at it and handed out the missions to the few other Stalkers in the room. One by one, they took their missions and left the room. They all had battle scars and damage from their missions on their bodies. When it was Eve's turn, the veteran behind the table looked up.

"You must be the new one Claire sent. Welcome. Are you ready for a first mission?"

His voice was surprisingly soft and had a beautiful tone. It was in stark contrast to his utterly desolate appearance. Eve stepped closer and nodded.

"Yes, I am Eve. I think I'm ready for my first assignment."

She said quietly. The veteran nodded.

"Good Eve. I have a fairly simple assignment for you. The engineers from the power plant team have called in a need for capacitors. They need to repair something. In this house here..."

He pointed his finger at the map and a circled building.

"... we've found a large number of capacitors in the past. It's not too far out. But be careful anyway. The Renegades have been very active lately."

There was genuine concern in his voice as he handed her a small envelope.

"Everything you need is in here. A map with directions. Some pictures of the spare parts we need."

Eve took the envelope, looked inside briefly and finally nodded.

"Waidmanns Heil, Stalker."

Said the veteran.

"Waidmann's Dank."

Eve replied and turned back. On the way out, she picked up a rucksack that was hanging on one of the hooks. It was a queasy feeling as she walked the short distance to the gate.

"The first time..."

She muttered, looking up at the large gate that separated the settlement from the wasteland. She checked her rifle and checked the map from the envelope. She took a deep breath and nodded to the doll on guard duty at the gate. The gate opened and she faced the wide, partially overgrown road that led from the manufacturing plant to the residential area.

She felt sick to her stomach, now that she was leaving a settlement alone for the first time to roam the wasteland. She looked back one last time and took the first step.

After Eve had covered the first few meters on the road, she found it easier and easier to keep walking. Of course, it was kind of scary to be all alone when she had never really been alone before, but it also had the advantage that no one was telling her what to do. She was all alone with herself. She carried her rifle casually in front of her and walked in the middle of the street. Everything looked very different out here. Nature had returned much more strongly here than in the production plant. Plants where growing through cracks in the road and covered up a good portion of the asphalt. The once neatly set up parks and street corners where overgrown with weeds, bushes and the trees were huge.

She was making good progress. Every now and then she checked the map to make sure she was on the right path and followed the description. She could hear some birds cawing in the trees and tried to remember which calls were the dangerous ones. So far all was quiet and good.

It was at about the halfway mark, when noticed it for the first time. This feeling as if someone was watching her. She stopped and listened and looked around. She knew that if she could see the enemy, it was usually too late to avoid them. But there was nothing to see, except nature reclaiming what the society had left behind, and all she could hear was the rustling of leaves in the breeze and her own servomotors. She checked her weapon again and moved on.

"Maybe it's just my imagination..."

She muttered as she crossed an intersection, trying to stick to cover and crossing the open street as fast as possible. There were a few more times when she was sure she had sensed movement or heard something. But no matter how hard she looked or listened, she was unable to detect anything out of the usual. She just couldn't shake the feeling.

In the end she was already too close to her destination to take a detour just to see if someone was actually following her. She decided to find the house as quickly as possible and lie in wait there. The pursuer would be surprised what was in store for him.

When she found the building, it was a smallish townhouse on the corner of a street. It looked totally like it belonged in this settlement, with its low roof and its nicely painted facade, well would have been a nice facade, some 25 years ago. Now it was a dull grey, overgrown with ivy with a broken window.

She carefully climbed the ivy and entered the building through the broken window. It was quite dark inside. The matrix in her eyes tried to amplify the residual light to give her more visibility. The building looked strangely deserted, although there were signs of life everywhere. Apparently there was a population of small rodents. She looked around cautiously. If she wanted to get the most out of her rifle, she would need an elevated position from which she could observe the room closely. There was a high shelf on the other side of the room that lent itself very well to this.

She still couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being watched.

"Come on... you'll see what you get out of it."

She muttered and jumped from the windowsill to the floor. She ran as fast as her legs would carry her to the other side of the room. There she stopped briefly at the foot of the shelf. She listened and looked around. The soft rustling of the leaves outside the window and the subtle sounds of the small rodents in the corners and under the cupboards made it impossible to locate her pursuer.

"Maybe there's no one there anyway."

She mumbled and looked around again. But that feeling. It just wouldn't go away. It was like a gnawing at the back of her head. It was there all the time. Not enough to really stand out, but enough to be uncomfortable.

She shook her head. No, she would climb up and lie in wait. Her shadow would show itself and she would finish it off. Then the feeling would go away. She was absolutely sure of it.

She shouldered the rifle and began the ascent. She thanked her creators that she was equipped with servos that made it easy for her to climb the shelf. Halfway up, she felt as if she had seen something out of the corner of her eye, but when she turned her head, there was nothing there. She made a face. Probably a mouse or a cockroach. Grimly, she climbed on. When she reached the top board, she carefully pulled herself up and let her gaze wander. There was nothing to be seen.

Eve picked up her rifle, checked it and loaded the first shot. She opened the protective flaps of the telescopic sight and knelt on the edge of the shelf. Relaxed, she lifted the rifle to her shoulder and let her target glide across the room. Everything was silent. She waited. She had all the time in the world. She knew that snipers sometimes waited days for their shot.

Time passed slowly. Seconds stretched out like honey. The only reason she didn't completely lose track of time was the timer that kept running in her HUD. She counted her breaths and began to calm down more and more.

"Conserve energy. When you're outside, you can't just recharge anywhere."

That was what Yellow had always preached to her when she had been an escort with the caravans. She smiled. It felt like a lifetime ago.

She found herself wanting to put her systems on standby again and again. She prevented that. The advantage of being a doll was that you didn't have to move. You didn't have to eat or drink either. The creators had given them the option because it helped the immersion. At least that's what it said on every packaging unit. All her bodily functions were simulated.

She closed her eyes... just for a moment... When she opened them again, a quarter of an hour had passed according to her timer.

"Shit!"

Eve cursed quietly and looked around the room. But nothing had happened. She was angry with herself. How could she have been so foolish. She lowered the gun and looked at the window through which she had come in. Small drops tumbled gently against the broken glass. It was raining again. She took a deep breath. It was time to fulfill her mission. She couldn't lie in wait forever in the hope that a target would appear in front of her.

Just as Eve had come to terms with the fact that she would complete her mission first, she noticed a movement and a noise behind her.

She felt as if everything was happening in slow motion. She could see the fractions of a second slowly counting up on her HUD. Her body felt like it weighed several tons as she tried to turn around. The impulse was there, but her body just wouldn't respond. Out of the corner of her right eye, she could see a shadow slowly moving past her head. The blurred shadow turned out to be a clawed hand. It reached past her and turned towards her face. Eve tried to scream, but her body was still catching its breath. The hand came closer again and placed itself on her mouth with unrestrained force. Panic welled up inside her. Her body was still not reacting the way she wanted it to. Her hands clenched around her gun.

The bang as the loaded shot went off sounded strangely muffled. The bullet sailed uselessly through the air. Her HUD plotted the trajectory of the projectile. It would punch another hole in the window. The recoil of her rifle ripped it out of her hands, luxating the thumb and forefinger of her right hand. Damage reports flashed on her HUD even before she felt the pain.

The hand on her mouth jerked her head back. She could hear the sensitive rod crunching in her throat. The scream that came from her throat was muffled by the hand on her mouth. Her body prepared to release tears as more warnings flashed on her HUD. The strain on her neck reached critical levels.

Something hard pressed against her back. It scraped across the hard plastic of her back module. From behind her, she heard a muffled voice.

"Wwwwwweeeeeeaaaaaaaakkkk!"

She sounded very strange. Only when she stopped speaking did Eve realize that the voice was also in slow motion. Her mind raced. It was a renegade, probably the one who had been following her the whole time, and just because she hadn't been paying attention for a moment, she was now at his mercy. She remembered what Yellow had said:

"You're not ready yet... I don't want to add you to them..."

The memory painfully reminded her how inexperienced she was.

"If you're weak, or damaged. Then it's customary for anyone out there to use you."

Gilian had said that. That and also:

"Renegades know no mercy. If one catches you and you show even a hint of weakness, he'll devour you whole..."

She wanted to sob, she wanted to cry, she wanted to beg for mercy, but her body wouldn't let her.

Then it happened. She felt the bang more than she heard it.

This feeling of pressure overrode everything else in her life. For a moment, she felt nothing but this incredible pressure that forced her back forward. She didn't notice the red warnings on her HUD. Just the pressure. It only lasted a brief moment, a brief moment of silence.

Then the noise returned. The sound pressure was so high that it deafened her ears. All she could hear were the sounds caused by the bursting plastic of her back.

The large caliber projectile made its way through her back, shredding everything in its path. While countless damage reports rattled across her HUD within a hundredth of a second, Eve only noticed how the projectile first pierced the hard plastic of her outer shell, then smashed into the fluid reservoir for her simulated bodily functions, causing massive overpressure. The container burst at its seams and the liquid sprayed into her interior under high pressure. But before she could cause a short circuit, the projectile had already penetrated her control board and caused her legs to fail. Her tail began to vibrate.

By the time the first pain reached her consciousness, she felt her chest bulging out, tearing the delicate rubber of her breasts and spraying the soft silicone outwards. The sensory overload, as the sensitive skin of her tits ruptured almost drove her crazy. As she saw downwards to her chest she could just see the projectile tearing away from the remnants of the rubber it ripped away from her chest. Her HUD showed countless error messages and damage reports. As her System tried to compensate the pain and damage, the feeling for fierce and pure pain changed to something more akin to pleassure.

The projectile seemed to have just missed her battery, as the system indicated that it still had an 80% charge, but the indicator was dropping fast.

She heard that voice behind her again.

"Ssssooooo wwweeeaaakkk!"

She seemed to be getting brighter and it also seemed to her that time was running a little faster again. She felt her legs dropping out from under her. The hand in front of her mouth slowly loosened and retreated to her cheek. She felt her head being pushed to the side. She was unable to resist the movement. As her field of vision changed, a face appeared in her field of vision. The doll standing behind her was a different model. She had a gray base color and her ears were much smaller. All in all, she had a slimmer build. She grinned maliciously.

Eve wanted to scream, cry, plead, anything... but most of all she wanted to be back in Doll Hud Prime and wake up from this nightmare. The face opened its mouth and came closer. Eve was unable to do anything and was forced to let the kiss wash over her.

The other doll was ruthless and merciless. She forced Eve's jaw open and pushed her tongue into her mouth.

When she abruptly ended the kiss, she simply dropped Eve onto the board. Unable to defend herself or even react to the fall, Eve hit the board with a clatter. Now, for the first time, she could see her counterpart in full. The other doll was holstering her weapon and looking down at her with a smile. She looked so tall from where Eve lay. She seemed unapproachable, overpowering and the way she stared down at Eve alone somehow excited her. Her hips were slightly narrower than Eve's and her breasts not quite as voluminous, but it only made her sexier. Eve swallowed. Her system was desperately trying to minimize the damage and shut down unimportant systems. Eve's mouth opened.

"Please... please I know what to expect... I-I was... am weak... I ha-have no right to b-beg for m-mercy... but... i-it's my first time..."

Her voice module seemed to be damaged, her voice sounded slightly distorted and she was barely able to form complete sentences. The other doll leaned down and placed her hand almost tenderly on her cheek.

"Your first time..."

Her voice sounded so different now that time seemed to be running normally again. It was high and clear. Her tone was so soft, almost sensual. Eve tried to smile.

"P-please be gentle... w-with me... I-I won't fight backkkkkgnnn..."

Eve's speech module seemed more damaged than she thought. She blinked slowly. Her system was still reporting errors and damage to her one by one.

"Shhhh..."

Her counterpart said softly and placed a finger on her lips before leaning down and kissing her again. This time much more tenderly and Eve made an effort to return the kiss. She felt the other's hand slide down her cheek to her neck, while her second hand tenderly caressed her breast. The input was so strong that Eve had to interrupt the kiss to moan.

"Hannnn..."

The other lifted her head slightly and grinned into her face.

"That's right... little doll... moan for me..."

She whispered and moved closer again. She nipped at Eve's lip and tugged lightly as her hand caressed her neck and her other hand began to knead her breast.

"H-H-Hannn... aahnnn..."

Tears gathered in Eve's eyes as she went into a turmoil of pleasure and pain. The other doll seemed to be aroused by this and she let go of Eve's lip and kissed her way down her chin to her neck and on down to her breasts. One of Eve's breasts had been badly damaged, the other had remained mostly intact. The doll licked her lips and began to lick up the amniotic fluid that oozed from the "wounds". Eve inhaled... or rather her body tried to inhale sharply, but the necessary servos were completely destroyed. What remained was the sound of a deep sigh and a startled squeak. Even though her breasts were badly damaged, they were still highly sensitive and every touch of her counterpart's tongue sent little electric shocks of pleasure through Eve's body.

"Hnnnngnn... so hot... aaaahnnn... n-not there... hooo..."

Her torturer knew no mercy. She kneaded her breast and caressed it with her tongue. Eventually she found Eve's breasts had had enough for the moment and made her way further down. Her hand slid over her flank to her hip, on the other side of which her second hand came to rest. She gently ran her hands over the soft material of Eve's hips and murmured:

"I like big butts and I can't deny..."

She spread Eve's legs and knelt between them. Her attention was taken up by Eve's still vibrating tail.

"How extremely convenient..."

She whispered, taking the tail in both hands.

"... I bet you're still very sensitive here..."

She added and stroked the tail.

"Hiiiieeeek... nnnnggg..."

Eve moaned and the other grinned.

"Let's try something..."

She said with a playful undertone and bent Eve's tail under herself. When she inserted it into her vagina, she moaned loudly. The vibration of the tail stimulated her so intensely that she had to lean on Eve's hips. Eve moaned just as loudly.

"O-Ooooh... by t-the creators... it's so hot... a-and tight... hhnnnng..."

Eve began to drool and her left hand began to twitch. Her counterpart blushed. She looked up at Eve and bit her lower lip.

"By the creators... you're special... haannnng... no one's ever done that before..."

She moaned. Her voice, which had sounded sensual before, was dripping with arousal. She breathed heavily as she slid her hands over Eve's hips to her groin. She tenderly stroked Eve's folds and enjoyed the many small, dirty noises she made.

"Aaahhnn... P-please... hnnn... m-more..."

Eve moaned and bit her lip. The other doll began to move her hips and rode her tail while kneading her own breasts with one hand and slowly penetrating Eve's labia with the other. Eve's body wanted to rear up, but all it managed was a twitching of the extremities and an agonized whirring of the servos in her neck. She stuck out her tongue and moaned loudly as the other doll's fingers stroked her clitoris.

"Hnnnn..."

The other doll joined in and sank deeper onto Eve's tail.

"Aaahnn... so big... so deep... mmmMMmm..."

She leaned forward and placed her second hand on Eve's breast again. She began to knead it and looked longingly into Eve's face. The latter wanted to lift her head to kiss the other, but couldn't. And so it remained with a pleading look and a breathy kiss, accompanied by sensual moans.

"Please... I-I want... hnnn..."

Eve's voice became further distorted and tears streamed down her face. The other leaned further forward and first licked the tears from her cheek and then kissed her while simultaneously penetrating her with two fingers. They both moaned as they shared their tongues.

Eve could feel something. Something was building deep inside her. A final act of desperation from her doomed system. It rose slowly inside her from the tip of her tail and gathered around the center of her body, where the other doll was about to plunge her fingers vigorously into her vagina. She let her fingers wiggle in Eve's love tunnel and rubbed intensely against the sensitive membrane that lined the inside of her genitals. Eve felt the tension building in her and the artificial muscles that were still able to do so slowly tensed up.

The other doll let go of her mouth, and as it pulled away from hers, a thin thread of saliva connected them. Only when it broke did the other one begin to smile.

"I can feel it little doll... you're almost ready... hmmm... yes... soon it will be done..."

She purred as she slowly straightened up. Eve looked after her with a mixture of fear and relief. She was torn between the pain her body was signaling and the lust her system was suggesting.

"P-please... almost... feel... a-aahn... hnnn... r-right there..."

Eve's mouth was wide open, her moans loud and uncontrolled. She wanted so much to caress the other doll... to show her how much she liked what was happening... She wanted to thank her in return... but her body was incapable of doing so and her CPU was rapidly losing its capacity.

The other doll pulled her fingers out of Eve's vagina and brought them to her mouth. She licked Eve's juices from her fingers with relish. Eve, caught up in the bliss of the moment, only noticed when the other doll drew her gun. She guided the barrel of the gun between Eve's legs. The defenseless doll wanted to protest, but when the cold steel of the gun met the hot rubber of her vagina, Eve could only groan loudly.

"N-noooaaaahhnnnnnn... hnnnnggg..."

As the cold, hard barrel penetrated her innermost depths, it was as if something exploded inside Eve. A discharge that shot up her torn back like an electric shock and hit her suddenly.

For a moment, everything around her went white and nothing mattered anymore. She was caught up in the spasms of her orgasm. It was a feeling she had never experienced before. Of course, she had played with herself before, and it had been fun, but it was nothing like this. She remained for what seemed a small eternity in that blissfull state before experiencing a sensation like falling into a bottomless pit. When her vision cleared, she saw the other doll standing between her legs, gun pointed at her.

She just managed to pull a smile to her lips and muttered a:

"Than..."

before the other doll pulled the trigger. She fired two more times, destroying Eve's battery.

"...ks-ks-ks-ks-ks-ssssssssrrrrrkkkkkkzzz..."

Eve let out before her voice finally faltered completely. Eve watched some of her systems shut down for a few more seconds before her HUD finally glitched in a continuous loop and her vision narrowed to a small white dot before it too went out.

Silence descended over Eve and her consciousness faded.

The other doll, still in the afterglow of her own orgasm, raised her gun and smelled the muzzle with relish. A pleasant shudder ran through her. She ran the gun over her own body and indulged in her high for a moment. When she touched the muzzle to her own labia, which were still highly sensitive, she trembled again and squeezed her breast hard with her other hand.

"Hnnnnn..."

She moaned softly. Only when the high gradually subsided did she raise the gun to her lips again and lick her and Eve's ejaculate from the gun in an act of pure endulgance. She holstered it and stepped over Eve's ruined body. She tilted her head slightly and smiled before bending down to Eve's head. She tenderly stroked her cheeks and gently closed the doll's blank staring eyes. She bit her lower lip and gripped the head tightly. She pulled the head with all her strength and with a plop, accompanied by the characteristic sound of snapping cables, it came loose. She straightened up and turned the head in her hands. She looked longingly into Eve's lifeless face before giving her another sensual kiss.

Wistfully, she ended the kiss and stowed the head together with the ammunition for Eve's rifle in the backpack Eve had been carrying. She took the rifle and looked down on the now headless and brocken body. She remained still for a moment, then smiled, as she saw the slickend tail. She put one foot on the doll's hip and simply pushed it over the edge of the shelf. Eve's body fell almost gracefully down to the floor. Before hiting it and shattering. She looked down at the mess and nodded in satisfaction. The doll then retreated with her loot back into the shadows.

Only the rodents that had found shelter in the building were witnesses as the doll left the house again under cover of the rain and retreated deep into the wasteland.

Yellow sat on his bench and stared at his staff. He turned it back and forth in his hands. His gaze went into the distance and fixed on something that only he could see.

Eve had not returned from her mission. Even though he had expected it, it had been a bitter blow. For the first day or two, he had hoped that maybe she was just hiding somewhere, waiting for a moment to return home. Maybe she was injured or trapped somewhere. She wouldn't be the first Stalker to be rescued from a cellar.

But when she hadn't returned after the third day, hope had faded. By now at the latest, her battery would have run out of power. A rescue was not impossible even then, but it became increasingly unlikely if she could not respond to calls. He had resigned himself to the fact that another of his students had become a victim of the wasteland.

Sad certainty struck him on the fifth day. Another Stalker, who had picked up her mission, had found her remains. Her shattered body had been found in the house where she was supposed to have completed her mission. Based on the fact that trophies had been taken, the Stalker had assumed that she had fallen victim to a renegade. They had brought her remains home for Yellow to see. He had had a small breakdown at the sight of Eve's desecrated body. He had softly stroked what had remained, and had taken himself some time to say his good byes.

In the end Yellow had thanked the Stalker and added another trophy to the others on his staff in great sorrow.

"I warned you... told you you weren't ready..."

He muttered as another puppet approached him from behind.

"Master Yellow... the new dolls have been awakened and are waiting for you."

The doll's voice was soft and gentle. It placed a delicate hand on his shoulder. He nodded and stood up.

...

Somewhere in the wasteland, far from Doll Hub Prime, a doll lit a small oil lamp. In the dim light of the flickering flame, she carefully placed a rucksack on a table. She carefully opened the zipper and unfolded the backpack. Almost tenderly, she took the severed head of a doll out of the rucksack.

She gently stroked the doll's lifeless face and lifted the head higher. She carefully turned it back and forth. Then she went to a wall where there was a wide shelf. There were a few more heads on this shelf. She took some cables that were lying on the shelf and connected them to the cables hanging out of the head. She carefully placed the head on the shelf with the others and stepped back.

She reached for a switch and took a deep breath. As she flicked the switch, a jolt went through the heads on the shelf. It took a moment, but then the eyes of each head turned to her and she nodded.

"Welcome little doll... I'd like you to meet the others..."
