The History behind the Nutri-Bar and the first two Weeks of the Great Consumer Wars.
The History of The beginning of The Great Consumer Wars:
The time of the Great Consumer Wars, while not directly a physical war, as of the past, wars of history being between tribes, nations, or kingdoms, was rather more of a form of a 'cold war of attrition.' There were no massive battlefields, or exploding bombs, for the most part, The Great Consumers Wars began for the sake of money, and ended for the sake of money, and yet, it's effects set the stage for our modern world.
It began with an invention, of all things, a way to make more calorie dense food, because in the early 2200s with increasing pollution both on land and sea, less farmland, seafood, and wild game was possible every year and thus less foodstuffs, leading to higher prices, and higher costs. This problem lead to thousands of for-profit and not-for-profit, scientists, to believe they could solve that issue, among others facing society at that time. Using resources from, what Historians, now, historically call, "Mini-Corps;" or as some say, "the Grandfathers of the Mega-Corporation," while only spanning a city or two, these "mega" corporations looked into many diverse ways to develop the future of our society, some looked to the stars, some looked to erase pollution, some looked to robotic helpers, some even looked to destroy it, for ever-increasing profits. It wasn't until the largest "Mega" corps of the time, "Mega" corporation "Hammersmith & Sons" created what is now perhaps the staple foodstuff for our space exploration, the Nutri-bar, while the name differs for trademark, or patent reasons across worlds and companies, almost all designs follow their orginal concept, the same similar design using methods of crossbreading between specifc plant species; the scientists at "Hammersmith & Sons" were able to create the first full Nutribar, instead of crossbreading plants and then letting them grow produce to discover if such alterations worked, it was a young scientist, who their first Nutribar was named after, who proposed crossbreading the plants as they were being cooked or assembled, leading to the Nutri-Bar dispenser, while it is still unknown to the general population exactly how a nutri-bar is created, for those who know, some relate it to a Food based 3D printer at the molecular level. It was this machine that lead to this cold arms race; because, almost overnight standard restaurants and food brands were practically made obsolete. Over the course of 2 whole weeks The Great Consumers' Wars began. And during these two weeks, lead to the first, of what can be considered the First "True" Mega-Corporation.
The "SingSong Fishing Company," now called the "SingSong Corps" started out as a joint fishing operations between multiple national-wide fisheries due to the ever increasing costs of fishing operations in polluted water leading to the decrease in year over year fish hauls, and decreasing profits. It was this company that created the first Nutri-Bar recipes to tap into this new market by selling fish based molecular structures to fill Nutri-Bar dispensers it not only created demand for these new fish based products, it helped sell what was left to those unable to buy fresh fish in the troubling economictimes before the Great Consumers' Wars. While multiple copies of the Nutri-Bar Dispenser were trying to dominate the market, it was this joint venture between SingSong and Hammersmith to create a new design, while the first design had no way to alter what came out, as all food put in, turned into, what many have said "how does it taste like burnt nothing!?" Hammersmith & Sons went almost bankrupt during their second week of their product launch, with thousands of different companies selling their own versions, (as there had been a for-hire corporate spy, selling the blueprints to almost anyone who had the money) the Head board member of Hammersmith at the time of that famous joint-agreement was recorded to have said "even if the new reconstructions don't taste like fish, atleast it will taste like something, instead of burnt nothing." And something they did, with the new design Hammersmith and SingSong were able to dominate the market, because, just like a computer, this new design could allow preprogramed data disks to be inserted to create an almost unlimited amount of dishes and food stuffs only limited to the coding of the recipe. This brief joint agreement lead to the merger of the new "Hammersmith & SingSong Corporation," although it was found to be cheaper and more profitable to rebrand as "The SingSong Corps" after their third acquisition with Eing3 Power, this acquisition truely marked the start of the very first Mega-Corporation and their dominance over our world, and many more.
While many Nutri-bar devices were being sold, to dominate the market, it lead to twice as many companies to bankruptcy more than the declining investments into regular farming did; because with the new Nutricipes cards, regular produce could be used as well as the reconstituted formulas used by the famous Brands of that time, who while formally kept their brands as standalone regular food products as well; under this new invention lead to specific licensing agreements for specifc devices; but when the new nutricipe card system was introduced brands leaped to SingSong Corps' Nutri-bar devices. With standardized molecular datacards each food product could be assembled the exact same as if it was created in a regularly controlled foodstuffs factory, meaning certain brands could finally have the exact same product they wanted associated with their brand created right there in a person's home. (Because each Nutri-Bar dispenser was fundamentally different from the thousands of companies that sold their own design, there was no way to regulate a recipe easily across hundreds of devices, especially for the early or less developed devices where they had to be preprogramed entirely and even then, just the slightest adjustment in product input could lead to wildly different tastes or textures.) This was the death kneal for the Nutri-bar boom and the beginning of the Stockpile Wars.
