#2 of Friends and enemies

Part two of this series, which I've had fun writing so far, and look forward to an unexpected ending. Other than suggesting you read part one first, and hoping for comments and suggestions and such, I can't think of anything to say up here, so as always, enjoy =^.^=

Oh, and I claim no particular ownership over the characters, though if you want to use them, at least let me know.

It was Monday, three days after the game, and despite who she tried calling, where she tried going out to look, Kara, a white-furred mink with short golden hair and a gold-furred tail, didn't seem to be having any luck finding her best friend Tara. Even trying to call her cheetah girlfriend, whose number she fortunately had, turned out nothing. The cheetah hadn't seen the tabby cat since the small farewell before they'd left on the bus for the game, and nobody, much less her, had seen her at school that day. She'd even asked Luca if she knew anything, but she said she'd never seen her, having left the restaurant a short while after the two of them and seeming genuinely worried.

Worrying about where she may be, suspicions began to arise about what may have happened. They'd left the restaurant that night while it was dark, and only while it was dark did the demonic-armored villain Zura seem to appear. If he took her, he'd pay, that much she was sure of. No more letting him disappear on her...she'd settle things now, and for the first time ever, she'd be the one to lay down the challenge.

If, however, he didn't have Tara, which seemed unlikely...well, it would still be as good a time as any to end things between the two of them, one way or another.

That night saw her leaving her room in a flash of light, appearing in costume, a white, single-piece outfit that covered everything but her head and arms, as well as a mask that covered her eyes and the area around them thanks to a one-way see-through film over her eyes that her mother had come up with, the one person that she couldn't hide her secret from, everyone else not apparently paying enough attention to figure out it was her. Appearing in the most likely spot for Zura to notice or otherwise arrive to, the largest bank in the city, she held one of her arms above her head, shooting a bolt of white light into the night sky, a signal flare-like explosion created once it was high enough. If that wasn't enough of an indication of where she was, then she didn't know what was.

A crowd already gathering from her mere appearance there, the bank still moderately busy at that hour, a wave of shadow appeared dead in the center of the crowd, ever the dramatic entrance from the black-armored villain known to all around as Zura.

"Well, well, what do we have here? A reversal of roles, perhaps? Something you want me to stop you from doing?" Zura taunted, his voice deep, dark, and somewhat muffled by the solid faceplate of his armor.

"I think you know what I want," Kara said, glaring. Granted, this fact couldn't well be seen with her eyes hidden by the mask, but it seemed likely enough that Zura would pick up on the fierce stare.

"To stop me again, I suppose..." the villain gave a dramatic sigh. "Like I said last time, I can appear anywhere and so too shall you...though I have to wonder what you're actually intending to stop me from doing right now, besides perhaps have my dinner."

"Enough with the talk! Where's my friend?"

"Friend? And what friend would that be?" Zura mocked, the glowing red slits on the helmet that could be assumed to be his eyes staring at her intently.

"A tabby cat around my age, who you took last night!"

"Oh, yes, her..." Zura said thoughtfully, his gaze seeming to turn to the sky. "She was your friend, was she? I only noticed that she was foolishly out alone, with nobody else around..."

"What did you do to her? Tell me!" Kara demanded, holding her hands out to the side, pulsing white light radiating from each one.

"Heh...make me," the villain taunted, and everyone in the crowd stepped back a few paces, the trigger for the beginning of the battle clear as Zura copied Kara's act, his clawed, armored hands instead pulsing with darkness.

"Right now, I'm only too happy to..." Kara muttered, and flung a ball of light at Zura with all the strength she had, Zura once again mimicking her action, the orbs of light and darkness colliding together in a swirling explosion of black and white.

Rushing blindly through the explosion almost as soon as it began, shielding herself with her still-glowing hands, Kara emerged quickly on the other side, satisfied to find Zura standing in the same place she'd last seen, and aimed a swirling kick at his head, using her other foot to jump away as soon as it was dodged.

The battle, from that point, seemed to come down to pure combat skill as opposed to the hero and villain's directly conflicting powers, both combatants demonstrating a fair knowledge of how to use their fists, feet, and, in Zura's case, claws, effectively.

Unfortunately, however, perhaps mainly due to the armor protecting his body, it became evident in time that this type of battle heavily favored Zura. Both hero and villain beginning to show signs of exhaustion, Zura took an opportunity after a missed punch from Kara to fire a sudden bolt of darkness straight toward her chest, leaving her unable to do anything but block it with both her hands, leaving her unfortunately open for a hard back-handed smack across the face from Zura's other hand, knocking her to the ground, where the villain pummelled her with a few more bolts of darkness, not all of which she could block.

"It would seem it's the challenger's destiny to repeatedly lose...and as this time you seem to be the challenger, it's now clearly your loss," Zura said, smirking beneath his helmet as he held a hand toward Kara, firing one more bolt of darkness toward Kara.

Shielding herself as best she now could from the blast, Kara slowly lowered her hands a moment later when it never came, looking up in surprise to find that someone had shielded her from it, though where they'd come from with the crowd having fled completely by this point was beyond her.

"Hmph...that kinda hurt..." the bat said somewhat weakly, her arms folded defensively in front of her as she stood before Kara.

"Well, another friend, it seems. Shall I destroy you, too?" Zura said, his hand still outstretched, pointed toward Luca.

Allowing the distraction from the bat's sudden appearance to work to her advantage, Kara fired a full-powered burst of light between Luca's legs and straight at Zura, colliding hard with him and even seeming to damage his armor, sending him flying back a number of feet before he suddenly disappeared in a wave of shadow, his usual method of transportation from what she'd seen.

"What are you doing here? You could get yourself hurt!" Kara said, slowly getting up into a standing position, doing her best to alter her voice so it wouldn't be recognized, ending up with a voice that sounded rough and gravelly, unfortunately the best she could come up with, particularly on such short notice.

"Takin' care of one of my friends, that's what. Figured you'd be goin' after Tara soon enough, so I've been keepin' an eye on the news," Luca said, smirking lightly as she turned a little to look at Kara.

"What are you...what makes you think...?" Kara tried to protest, though it was clearly far too late to hide anything.

"Come on, you don't exactly do the best job at hiding it. Guess it's kinda lucky I moved here in the middle of the summer, saw you on the news a few times while I'd been flicking around the channels, then I saw you in school and knew it was you," Luca said, giving a light chuckle. "Honestly, people that know you should be able to spot that tail of yours from a mile away."

"Alright, I'll give you that one," Kara said, giggling lightly, taking a look around to make sure that nobody was around before switching from her costume to her normal clothes in a small flash of light, a small teleportation trick she'd taken time in private to master, hiding from everyone a few unfortunate incidents as she was getting a hang of it. "What are you doing here, though? You could seriously get hurt..."

"Hehe...doesn't seem like you to worry about me, last I checked you didn't seem to like me. Although I suppose I've never given you much of an excuse to..." Luca said thoughtfully, shrugging and glancing off to the side.

"No, I...you're just...I don't know, I'm not used to people like you, I guess..."

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Luca asked, looking back to Kara in curiosity.

"Well...you're just so forward, and you never seem worried about what anyone else thinks of what you're doing..."

"You should try it sometime, yourself," Luca suggested, smirking.

"I'm not...urgh..." Kara said weakly, clutching her stomach in pain. Those blasts had really hurt...

"Come on, let's get you home. Walk home, I mean...doesn't look like you have the energy to do much of anything else," Luca said, walking over and taking one of Kara's arms, draping it around her shoulder after a small twinge of pain in one of her own arms.

"Don't, I'm sure I can handle it...you're hurt yourself..."

"Ah, don't worry ‘bout me, I'm tougher'n I look," Luca smirked confidently, and Kara nodded, smiling a little. "Guess you will have to lead the way, I don't know where your place is at."

It took them about half an hour of walking, both of them seeming to alternate supporting the other, until they arrived at Kara's house, a somewhat large two-story building with relatively few windows, painted red with a white door.

"I...I can handle it from here..." Kara said somewhat weakly, removing her arm from around Luca's shoulders before finding it pulled gently back across.

"Which level's your room on?" Luca asked.

"Th...the basement..." Kara admitted.

"Then no can do, I don't need you fallin' down the stairs or anything like that."

"Mom can..." Kara started to protest.

"I said no, now come on," Luca said, and Kara, not seeming to have any other options to try and argue against the persistent bat, nodded, walking up to the door with her and pulling out her key to unlock and open it.

"Kara! What happened to you? To both of you, at that?" her mom, a mink very similar in appearance to her daughter but more mature-looking and slightly taller, rushed over, an expression of worry all over her face, looking only briefly to Luca.

"I..." Kara started, but Luca once again cut her off.

"We were taking a run to work out for volleyball, and I guess we went a little too far," Luca quite convincingly lied, chuckling.

"Were you, now?" Kara's mother said, suspicion in her voice, but shrugged before she gave them much time to answer. "Well, don't push yourselves so hard again, alright? Will you be staying for a little while?" she asked, directing the last question to Luca.

"Me? I..." Luca began, but it was Kara's turn to cut her off.

"Yeah, we could both use a little rest for now, so would it be alright if Luca stayed for dinner?"

"Sure, I'll make sure to make enough for all three of us," her mother said, giving a smile and a nod. "You two go ahead and carry each other down to Kara's room and I'll go and make dinner, and we can all have it at her table down there. I'll make sure to bring an extra chair so all three of us can sit," she said, leaving the two there as she went off to the kitchen, beginning to work.

"She seems pretty nice," Luca smiled over to Kara, who nodded, and the two supported each other down the stairs, Luca opting to take the side opposite the railing for the excuse that she had her wings to potentially catch herself with. Making their way somewhat slowly down, they both walked over to Kara's bed afterward, the basement consisting of a single room, Kara's room, clearly, decorated with posters of teams or bands that she liked and with a fair amount of things for entertainment, such as a radio by her bed, which she turned on to a low volume as the two plopped down onto it.

"Thanks, really...I guess I owe you one..." Kara said, though she was looking down sadly to the floor instead of to Luca.

"Sure, any time...he's got Tara, huh?" Luca asked, her voice and expression full of sympathy as she looked over to Kara.

"Y...yeah...and I couldn't beat him..." Kara spoke quietly, tears beginning to form in her eyes, surprised to find the bat's fingers brushing them away, directing her face toward Luca's, her eyes timidly meeting the bat's.

"This time, maybe, but you will, and I'll even help if you'll let me," Luca said, smiling, and Kara, beginning to blush a little, remembering well the last time they'd had any contact, looked away somewhat nervously.

"You don't have to..."

"I want to. She's really nice, and she's my friend, too, right?"

"...yeah...thanks...again..." Kara said, directing her eyes slowly back to Luca's, smiling a little, the pink tint on her cheeks subsiding, the event that day in the locker room mostly forgotten. "Um...why are you...well..." she began to ask nervously, unable to think how to properly word her question.

"What? The way I am, you mean?" Luca asked, receiving a nod in response. "I guess because I like to listen to my heart more than my head, helps me realize what I really want and get the strength to go after it. Like I said, you should try it sometime."

"I...I don't know..."

"See, that's what I mean. Why don't you know? Because you're thinking too much about it."

Giggling lightly, surprised at the strange but nonetheless sensible logic behind Luca's words, Kara gave a small nod, vaguely noticing that the bat's hands were still on her cheeks. "Well...I guess that's true..."

"Smarter than you mighta thought, huh?" Luca joked, and Kara giggled, giving another small nod. "So, if you're gonna start thinking a bit more with your heart, then I wonder...what's your heart tell you about this?" she asked, leaning a little toward Kara, who began to blush lightly again but found herself failing to back away.

"Th...that you're attracted to me...?" Kara hazarded, gazing timidly into Luca's eyes.

"Come on, you're gonna have to do better than that...that's thinkin' with your head, anyway, since anyone coulda told you that after...well, what I did back in the locker room after that first game. If you're gonna think with your heart, you'll find it's better to show than to tell."

What did her heart say, though? Kara considered it for a few moments, Luca holding her position for now, her hands still gently holding the mink's cheeks while her face remained a short distance from Kara's. That she'd enjoyed that first kiss, had even returned it, she supposed...that Luca seemed quite genuine in anything she said or did, even if Kara didn't agree with all of it...that she wouldn't mind being sheltered in the bat's embrace, wings and all...

Where the last thought came from, the mink wasn't sure, but it didn't seem a bad thought by any means. And the bat knew her biggest secret, even offered to help, which might make things so much easier on her...

Suddenly realizing she was tired of thinking, Kara made instead to act, to, as Luca suggested, show what her heart felt, and slowly reached her arms up to wrap around the bat, directing her to scoot closer until their hips were almost touching. Noticing Luca's encouraging smile, she leaned toward her, closing the distance between them and meeting her lips with the bat's, a light murr flowing through her throat as Luca tenderly returned her kiss, her fingers caressing along Kara's cheeks.

"L...like that?" Kara said as she pulled away after a short while, blushing.

"To be honest, I expected you to push me away," Luca said, giving a light smirk.

"Well...I probably would have, but I guess I wasn't really thinking..." Kara said timidly.

"Not too bad, then, huh? Going after what you want?"

"...no...no, it's not," Kara smiled, suddenly locking Luca in a deep kiss, similar to the first they'd shared.

This second kiss lasted some time longer than the first, and, at the risk of Kara's mom walking in on them, the smell of her cooking beginning to make its way downstairs, the two decided to talk about each other. Hobbies, interests, what life was like either here or back where Luca used to live before she moved, which had apparently been a solo move, her apartment acquired under her parents' name but her parents remaining behind where she used to live.

"So you live alone? That must be kinda tough..." Kara said.

"I suppose it kinda was at first, spending time myself wandering around the city and getting a hang of where everything was. Seems like I probably should've moved closer to when school started so I could maybe get someone to show me around properly," Luca replied with a shrug.

"Well...I know you probably know your way around well enough by now, but I could probably do that...maybe we could even try looking for Tara while we're at it," Kara suggested, a hopeful look in her eyes.

"Yeah, that sounds good. And we can even show each other our favorite places on the way, I guess," Luca smiled, giving a nod of confirmation.

"You two alright down there? I'm coming down," Kara's mother called from the top of the stairs, and a little bumping around could be heard from that direction, presumably from the chair she was retrieving.

"Yeah, we're fine," Kara called back, and her mother came down first with the chair to place it at an empty side of the downstairs table, returning upstairs to come back down with some plates in one hand and a plate of fish in the other. Remembering that they needed utensils for this dish, she returned upstairs once more, coming back down to organize the plates and silverware on the table and joined quickly by Luca and Kara.

"Oh...I suppose I should've asked if you like fish, Luca," Kara's mother realized, looking to the bat, who nodded, using the spatula that had been brought down to direct one of the fillets onto her plate.

"Sure, I like to eat fish from time to time, um..." she trailed off, looking to Kara's mother and hoping she'd get the hint.

"Oh, right...sorry I didn't introduce myself, I'm Raya, Kara's mother, obviously. I guess you can call me that or Ms. Starr."

"Pleasure to meet you, then, Ms. Starr," Luca smiled, offering a hand to the woman, who shook it gently.

The conversation apparently ended for the moment as the three began to dig into their food, it was resumed again when they were all quite full and satisfied.

"Feels nice to get some food in me after that workout, definitely," Luca commented.

"Yeah, I'm sure it does," Raya smiled, neglecting to bring up the fact that she knew what really happened. "So, when did you two start hanging out? I never heard about you until today," she asked, directing her questioning to Luca.

"Well, I guess we met on the first day of school, but we didn't really start hanging out at all until volleyball started," Luca answered.

"Well, it's nice to see another friend of Kara's, usually she's just hanging around Tara. Where is she, anyway? I'm surprised she's not with you two," Raya said, shifting her questioning gaze between Luca and Kara.

"Oh...she's out for now with some family," Kara said, a relatively convincing lie that hopefully would keep her mother from asking any further questions about it. "She should be back soon enough, though."

"Seems odd that she'd go out in the middle of volleyball season...did something happen?"

"She didn't really say, but I'm sure it couldn't be anything that bad."

"Alright...well, when she comes back, all three of you can come over any time, it's always nice having company," Raya smiled.

"Well, thanks for the meal, Ms. Starr, I should probably be gettin' home myself...see ya tomorrow, Kara," Luca said, getting up from the table and waving the two goodbye, catching out of the corner of her eye Kara coming toward her as she began to open the door to go outside after she'd walked upstairs.

"Um...you're not...dating anyone right now, are you?" the mink asked timidly, and both girls began to blush lightly.

"I might be..." Luca replied vaguely, and Kara looked down to the floor, disappointed.

"Can I at least ask who it is, then?"

"Look in a mirror," Luca smiled, hearing a small gasp from Kara as the mink blushed further red. "How about you?"

"...might be..." Kara answered quietly, giggling lightly, drawing out a small chuckle from Luca.

"Then I guess the answer's yes for both of us," Luca smiled, beginning to move her hand before spotting Kara's mother, carrying the plates in a stack and the silverware on top of them, coming up the stairs. "Anyway, see ya tomorrow," she said, giving another wave goodbye as she walked outside, hearing Kara close the door behind her before smirking evilly.

The foolish girl hadn't even realized she was in check. She hadn't realized to the point where she made what, in a normal game of chess, would have been an illegal move, keeping herself in check and thus forfeiting herself to a full checkmate. Game over, and it was most certainly not Kara's victory...

Still exhausted from how much power she'd expended earlier in the night during that battle, particularly with maintaining a full copy for a short while, which had proven to not be particularly strong in itself, Luca opted to walk back to her apartment as opposed to her usual, much faster means of transportation.

The next day after school ended and volleyball practice began, the coach dropped a greatly unexpected surprise on the whole of the team, which was still missing one of its starters, the tabby cat Tara.

"No blues and greens today as you can see from the people at the other end of the gym," the large brown bear said as he gathered the team together. "Today we've got a game scheduled, and Karen, you're taking Tara's place as a starter since she's still not here," he continued, nodding to a brown-furred bunny, a sophomore and thus one of the younger members of the team, who nodded nervously in response.

"Couldn't you have warned us about this or something?" Luca asked, despite Kara trying to silence her.

"No!" the bear said loudly, causing some of the team to wince from the volume, some of the members of the other team across the gym jumping a little in surprise at the sudden shout, looking over for a few moments in curiosity before their coach, a black-furred wolf, tossed a volleyball lightly at one of their heads, snapping the girls' attention back to him. "Now, get in positions, you all know where you're supposed to be!"

Nodding and getting up, the six that were set to start the game took their positions, the bunny taking the spot Tara would normally have filled, not noticing Kara's brief, longing look in that direction, which was snapped over to Luca as the bat placed a hand on her shoulder.

"We'll get her back. Now come on, we've got a game to focus on right now," she said quietly, and Kara nodded, turning her attention to the other team as they gathered in their positions.

The opposing team proved a fair amount easier to face than the team they played in their last game, scoring only twice with an otherwise one-sided match in Valley High's favor. It was still exhausting though, especially for Kara and Luca after the previous night's ordeal, and Kara herself sat around her locker while everyone else was changing, looking around when it seemed everyone was gone and not seeing anyone, giving a light sigh as she walked toward the showers, looking forward to a little relaxation after the game and her rough day yesterday, not to mention all the worrying over her missing friend.

Removing her clothes and leaving them by the entrance to the shower room, revealing her well-curved, athletic body in its fullness, she walked over to the nearest shower and turned the dials to what seemed a good temperature, allowing it to flow over one of her hands a short while as the water temperature steadily changed, stepping under the warm flow of the shower and closing her eyes contentedly once the temperature stopped changing, leaning back just slightly and allowing the water to collide against her chest and part of her face.

Remaining like this for a short while, she gasped in surprise as she felt a hand place itself near the top of her left breast, quickly opening her eyes and looking down to see a black-furred left hand with a thin chain bracelet, an emerald bat-shaped charm in clear view.

"Hope you don't mind a little company?" she heard Luca speak from behind her, and quickly covered her breasts with her arms, her tail wrapping around herself to cover her midsection.

"Oh...um...no, I suppose not..." she said quietly.

"Good...tried waiting for you to maybe walk home together, but I never saw you, so I figured I'd check back here. Guess it's nice taking a relaxing shower with nobody else around..." Luca said somewhat thoughtfully, her hand slowly sliding further down until it reached the area Kara's arms were covering.

"Ah...L-Luca..." Kara spoke quietly, her eyes partly closing as her arms began to lower from herself, her tail still staying firmly in place.

"Relax...listen to your heart, remember?" Luca spoke into one of Kara's ears, placing small nips starting from the top to the point near where it reached her hair, satisfied to see the mink's other ear falling slowly back against her head.

Giving a small nod, Kara closed her eyes the rest of the way, taking a small step back and pressing her body gently back against the bat's, sighing contentedly as Luca's other arm slipped around to rest against her stomach, feeling the bat's breasts against her back. Feeling more brave by the moment, she unwrapped her tail from around her own waist, directing it back to wrap around Luca's.

Smirking a little at how much easier Kara had been making this than Tara did, Luca slipped her hand further down along the now fully-exposed area of the mink's left breast, tracing a spiral along it with two fingers, teasingly stroking them along the area surrounding the nipple while not actually touching it.

Whimpering pleadingly as the bat continued to seemingly intentionally avoid the most sensitive spot on her breast, the mink found her plea quickly answered as those fingers finally began by brushing the short fur on them across her nipple, a light moan of pleasure received from the action. Some deep, blurred part of her mind asked her why she'd given herself so quickly to the bat that she once had a mild hatred for, but it was readily ignored given the fact that she was focusing right now on listening to her heart more than her mind, and her heart and body told her, quite truthfully, that she was loving this attention from the extremely attractive bat.

Only too happy to give the mink more, Luca slowly spread the fingers of the hand that was on Kara's stomach, sifting through the soft fur on it as the hand moved steadily from side to side. Lowering her head a little, she placed a kiss on the back of the mink's neck, alternating nipping and licking gently at that spot. Focusing her light red eyes directly on her target, she finally slid her tongue along Kara's neck, stopping when she reached the point she wanted, continuing to lick softly at it.

Losing herself to the bat's apparent skill, Kara herself allowed her to be enveloped in bliss, running water from the still-flowing shower head, and the bat's wings wrapping protectively around her, somewhat surprised to find herself in that vague fantasy she'd had, the first of her heart's desires she remembered truly hearing. "Luca...I...I love you..." she spoke, blushing lightly as she felt the bat cease licking at her neck, instead placing small kisses against that same spot.

"I love you too, Kara..." Luca admitted, pulling away from Kara's neck for a few moments, allowing her hand on the mink's stomach to slide straight downward, to the area that earlier was covered by Kara's tail and was now open to her. Reaching the spot between the mink's legs, she found the slit already opened somewhat for her, and stroked a pair of fingers along the exposed pink flesh, the mink moaning loudly at the action and tilting her head back further.

Seeing her opportunity to strike, Luca smirked lightly, invisible to the mink who'd kept her eyes firmly closed through most of this encounter, tilting her head down and sucking softly at the spot she'd been focusing her attentions on for a short while now, steadily beginning to suck harder at it as one hand continued caressing the mink's left breast and nipple and the other continued stroking a pair of fingers against the exposed area between Kara's lower lips. Slowly, gently slipping her two fangs past Kara's skin, watching her to make sure she remained oblivious to the act, Luca began to drink from the mink's blood, the sweetest and most satisfying she'd yet had, not only for the taste of the light-wielding hero's blood but for the fact that she'd managed to get to this point so easily, to make her plan succeed so well.

"Lu...ca..." Kara moaned softly as her focus and consciousness began to fade, the bat releasing her fangs from her and holding her gently within her arms and wings as she drifted to sleep.

"You see? I knew you were attracted to me..." Luca joked, chuckling, her light red eyes flashing brighter for a moment. "I promised young Tara that you, her knight, would be joining her soon, and I like to keep my word, as I'm sure you well know. Oh, but don't worry, I won't be holding you two now that I've drawn in some of your own power to myself...in fact, I'm rather enjoying my time around here with the two of you..."

Smirking evilly, she used her power to transport the two of them near Kara's house after drying and dressing herself and the mink, using some of the light energy she'd gained from the mink to remove any trace of the bite marks from her neck as the mink slowly came to, finding herself supported by Luca.

"H...huh? Luca, what happened?" she asked somewhat weakly.

"I'm not really sure, I guess you must've passed out from what we were doing, so I carried you back here," Luca replied wholly convincingly.

"Oh...th...thanks..." Kara said, blushing. "Um...did I really say that I...well..."

"That you love me?" Luca offered, and Kara nodded, blushing even further. "Yeah, we both did...I know I meant it...did you?" she asked somewhat timidly.

"I...I did...I do love you, Luca," Kara admitted once more, giving a small smile.

Smiling as well, the bat kissed her lovingly on the lips, her kiss eagerly returned before they slowly parted. "Well, I should be getting home, unfortunately, homework to do and all that."

"Yeah, me too...see you tomorrow at school, then. I'll try looking for Tara more tonight," Kara said, and they parted ways.

Later that night, Kara found the tabby cat surprisingly easily, searching the more abandoned district in costume and finding the tabby in one of the old factories, apparently sleeping on the floor, no trace of any harm having been done to her anywhere that the mink could see. Scanning around cautiously to see if anyone was near, she gave a sigh of relief, fortunately not seeing or smelling anything. Kneeling down by the feline, she used her power to transport Tara to her bed back home, disappearing herself in a flash of light as soon as that deed was done to return to her own room, getting away from that place as quickly as possible. Zura wouldn't be happy, but he had to know that she'd find her friend eventually. Now things would go back to normal aside from her keeping a closer eye on anything Tara or Luca did at night, and once again, she triumphed over the villain.

Well, she thought she did, at least...

(not quite sure if or how I'll continue this, but I suppose it's certainly a possibility)
