Traptap 8: Waiting for the End
#8 of Ryr'lif Adventures
We're "rapidly" approaching the end of the story, and my writing output is slowing accordingly...
Dragons live a really long time, so they sometimes make plans that take decades to act out.
A dragon couple in human form decides to use a kobold (who is mostly dragon at this point) to expand the family.
Also, plot. Plot happens.
Warnings...
It's my personal belief that what counts as cheating in a relationship should be discussed by the members of that relationship, this time the character voices my opinion, usually my characters disagree with me on big things like that... but now that I'm writing this, I kind of doubt Vin would actually bother discussing this with Dawn, so...
I am still going to count this as "cheating" because of the other character involved.
And I guess this is cuckoldry, but again, I feel like this is more "medieval royalty doing its thing" kind of thing.
Heavy reliance on dialog... I mean... lots of world building!
"The princess is a Werewolf?!"
"An Akuaki," Prince Dawn corrected, "It's curable, I believe."
There was a murmur of voices as the collection of mercenaries, vigilantes, guards, and nobility continued to debate the course of action.
Duke Guffaw announced with his booming voice, "She's also a dragon."
Dawn, standing just to his side, winced in shock. His wife stamped his armored boot to return his face to normal. Korriana wasn't sure what this was about, but somehow her involvement left her next to them at the head of the table. Three dragons stood next to her, and with her scales now sporting a mirrory sheen, many might assume it was four.
The crowd's argument swelled into riot. No one knew what to do, but several ideas were being tossed about. Find a cure; what cure; it can't be cured. Capture and study; they're too strong; they don't deserve it. Kill her with the rest of them; that's inhuman; it's prudent.
"It can be cured!" the Duke assured everyone, but no one was listening, "SILENCE!" sprung from his vocals as though a divine decree, the room complied.
Prince Dawn stood awkwardly for a moment before regaining his charm upon realizing the Duke wanted him to speak, "We will be recruiting experts and taking a team of warriors to scout the area. We will find their hiding place. We will detain those affected until treatment is possible."
The crowd calmed a little.
"Until further notice," Dawn continued, "Do not leave your homes without a lit torch in hand, not even during daylight. Keep a light in your homes at all times. The creatures return to their true form if light is cast upon them."
The audience's murmur became a bit more concentrated and a lot more confident. This evolved into discussions of plans among the various factions. After they calmed down, the duke allowed his guards to escort the majority of the crowd out.
"Hopefully this will stifle the hysteria," Dawn let his shoulders slack a little as the audience was no longer looking.
Vin hid a laugh behind her wrist, "Always the optimist."
After the scouting party was sent out, Korriana was brought to a guest room that had been converted to a holding cell for the princess's mugger. He was tied to a chair. Several guards stood about lazily chatting until Prince Dawn stepped in, they immediately stood to attention.
"You've really done it this time." The mugger's companion, an Orc who was willingly detained, sat next to him on a reading chair. He remained seating as the prince entered, his face treating it like it wasn't a big deal.
Korriana and Lady Vin followed the Prince in, both giving the mugger a scowl.
The rogue looked up at the prince with a cheeky grin, "I didn't do nothing."
The prince, grand warrior in glorious golden, kicked the chair over. He took a step forward, placing a boot on the criminal's chest, drawing a sword which promptly ignited in flame. He let his blade hover an inch away from the man's neck.
"Give me a reason not to kill you," Dawn growled.
"What's it matter?" The bald man with a blade at his throat smirked, "I'll be brought back to life after."
The Orc snorted, "It'd cost less to replace ya."
The captive laughed nervously, "You have your honor, you can't kill an unarmed man."
Dawn's eyes narrowed, "Honor doesn't protect a thief."
Korriana rushed up, "We need him!"
Dawn pulled his blade back and looked at her in query. The thief wore an expression of equal confusion. It was at that moment that Korriana hesitated. Why was she sticking her neck out for this guy? She wouldn't have cared if he died.
Korriana looked down at the guy, "Where did you get that love potion?"
"Love potion?" Dawn's face shook in shock.
The thief's face twisted but managed to still look confused, "What are you talking about?"
Korriana looked up at Dawn, for a moment a knot in her stomach kept her from speaking, but she managed to report, "He forced Laughter to drink a love potion."
Dawn's expression at the man adjusted from disgust to humor. He dispelled the flames and stowed his blade, laughing loudly. The orc soon realized what was so funny and joined in. Korriana glanced at Vin who was visibly annoyed, but provided no insight. The mugger's expression was grim.
"Well then," Dawn shouted, "It looks like we have some bait."
The eventual plan they developed was to return to the location of the attack, with the bait ready. They had the wizard Ghaf memorizing a long list of countermagicks and light spells, as well as a team of twelve warriors all equipped with some sort of torch that could light up in an instant if you pressed a finger sized switch. The goblin who made these devices refused to talk about them.
They had no evidence that this would work, and found themselves waiting for most of the evening. Dawn was telling stories the whole time, between which he would have to remind people that the scouting parties would be looking for alternatives.
Korriana fiddled with the device the goblin had given her. It was a little tube, with a small smooth crystal on the end that protected the light. For some reason she kept running a finger over the crystal. It was cool and smooth to the touch, and allowed the light through. It reminded her of the crystals that grew back home.
Korriana sighed. She was trying to not think about the task at hand. The incredible danger she'd soon find herself in. The tied up thief she was supposed to be protecting. The princess she was trying to save who was likely to kill her. The small voice in the back of her head told her she deserved to die out here.
The confused, scared kobold picked up her things and walked away from the group. She just needed to clear her head. Maybe some time alone would help.
"Where are you off to?" Prince Dawn had followed her.
"This is my fault," Korriana admitted.
The prince's eyebrows rose, "You turned the princess into an Akuaki?"
Korriana shook her head, "No, I upset her, and she ran off."
"But she is an Akuaki?"
"Yes, but she would have been safe at home."
Prince Dawn pondered for a second, "I don't see how this is your fault. Honestly, I blame Mr. Anonymous," he nodded at the thief who had insisted on never revealing his name, "and I think if you weren't so hard on yourself, you'd be a dragon already."
Korriana bit her tongue. She still didn't know how the process worked. She hadn't learned anything at all about it. Did Dawn know how it worked? He was a dragon, after all.
The prince smiled, stroking Korriana's horn with his hand, "You don't have to tell me how it started, but from where you are, all it takes is finding your aspect."
Korriana shuddered to his touch, trying not to think it meant more than it did, "How do I do that?"
"Well..." Dawn's rugged face scrunched up, "I'm not sure. I've seen it happen, but I was born a dragon. I've been told you must find your essence within you and define it to a form you can attune to. I hear it's very meditative." He pondered for a moment, "You'll need a bit of symbolic material. A coin or a polished stone works."
The little kobold sighed. She didn't want to admit it, but what he said meant absolutely nothing to her. Was it supposed to be like a spell? Would she just know how if she tried? What does one do to start? How does one pick a symbol material? What material symbolizes what and how does it affect the end result? What if she was unhappy with her choice?
Remembering the coin purse she had stolen... from the man they tied up... she found herself asking, "What about a gold dragon?"
Dawn's eyes lit up, "Strength, honor, and-"
"Pride," Vin interrupted, neither had noticed her approach, "They think they're the biggest and the best."
Dawn stared at her for a moment, but was unable to deny her claim. He sighed, "I was going to say vigilance."
Korriana certainly didn't feel strong, or particularly honorable.
Vin pulled an amethyst from her purse, "If you wish to join my flight, we are wise, creative, and..." she looked at Dawn who said nothing, "Subtle." At this word Dawn grinned boyishly.
Korriana considered this. She might not be the best example of wisdom, but she could be subtle. She wanted options.
"What about copper?" She had a few pennies in her purse.
"Like the princess?" Dawn asked.
"Um..." Korriana's face scrunched, "What about silver?"
Dawn and Vin exchanged an appreciative gaze, with the prince returning, "The shield dragons are wonderful allies in battle and great friends when not. Smart, tactful, supportive, and graceful."
Vin laughed, "On second thought no."
Korriana glared at her.
Vin drew another stone out of her purse and bent down to hand it to Korriana. It was transparent and shiny, somewhat white but almost without color at all. A voice in her head demanded that the stone be brought to her dragon immediately. The voice sounded like... like her younger self... like Traptap.
"Yes," Dawn's smile became warm, "Diamond Dragons are caring and honest. Powerful too. They are the most potent healers in the realm, with the power to bring the dead back to life."
Korriana stared at the sparkling stone, "Would I be able to cure Laughter?"
The couple looked at each other with sudden appreciation. "Maybe," Dawn suggested.
Vin smiled at her husband, "No wonder you want her for a concubine."
Korriana blushed furiously. As her hands jumped up to cover her snout, she dropped the diamond into the mud.
"My lady," Dawn explained crossly, "I only have eyes for you."
Korriana fumbled around for the gem, not finding it. She started to panic.
"No, no," Vin responded, "I would be only fair. After all," she shifted to a mockingly deep voice, "It would be no different than mine."
The kobold's nice sorceress robes were covered in grime as she sifted through the mud.
Dawn growled, "I will not be unfaithful."
Tears started to form at Korriana's eyes. How could she have lost it so quickly?
Vin snapped back, "It wouldn't be unfaithful if you have my permission."
Korriana paused in her search. She arched her head up and in time with Dawn gave a sharp "What?"
"You have my permission," Vin waved a hand at them annoyed, "Get on with it."
Dawn traded a glance with Korriana who was equally surprised. They both looked at her again, wordlessly expressing their lack of confidence in her words.
"Do I have to spell it out?" Vin stepped forward to her husband, getting inches from his face, "You will fill her fertile womb with your seed. She will give you a clutch of eggs. Then we will have allies in your children."
Dawn stared at her blankly for a moment, the cogs in his head turning slowly. His face slowly shifted in color until is was bright red, sweat beading in his face. "You want this?" He asked cautiously.
Vin kissed him. Hard. The prince was so startled that she managed to take him back a step with her embrace.
Korriana wasn't sure what to think at this moment, other than to worry that the violet haired woman was insane. The prince was so worried about his wife's permission, he'd surely listen if Korriana didn't want this. But did she? He was so strong and heroic. A part of her wanted him so badly.
Back home she had Thalthas. What would he think? She had been with other men, but they hadn't given her a choice. This time it would be her decision. Worse, he would be intent on making hatchlings. Korriana blushed at the thought. What if she was already pregnant? What if Thalthas wouldn't take her back? He had seen...
A strong hand stroked her cheek. Dawn smiled down at Korriana, as if waiting for her to speak her mind. Neither said anything. The prince sweeped Korriana into his arms and carried her a distance into the woods. She nuzzled up against his chest without a thought, his heartbeat faintly audible behind the cold metal of his breastplate.
Stroking Korriana's tail, the prince spoke to his wife, "Tell the men to get their things together, after we're..."
Vin interrupted him with a laugh, "No, I intend to watch. It's only fair."
Korriana blushed. Did they both know she had watched them in the woods? The memory caused the kobold's legs to tremble. She didn't much like Vin, but... it was fair...
They found a nice patch of grass, and the prince set Korriana down. She sat, watching the man unfasten his golden breastplate and paulderns, letting them fall to to the ground. After removing his gauntlets, he shook off his mail. Her heart fluttered as he unfastened his gambeson, only to find he was fully clothed beneath. The prince then began removing his lower armor which was equally layered.
Though it was fascinating to Korriana, this display had a different effect on Vin. She was biting her lip as though the man was teasing her with every layer he removed. She traced the top of her dress, with a finger, and Korriana couldn't help but wonder if she intended to do more than just watch.

Above the piles of armor, Prince Dawn finally removed his tunic. His chest was bare, covered in the scars of countless battles. For a brief moment, he stood, letting Korriana take in the visage of incredible strength. He gave his visibly aroused wife a humorous smile, before approaching the little kobold.
Korriana wasn't sure what to expect from the imposingly overmuscular man, and was honestly very intimidated. She was somewhat surprised when his first act was to sit down in the grass next to her and encourage her with a gesture to sit in his lap. Her heart sped, but she complied.
His fingers found her shoulders, massaging her with the gentlest touch. His hands were large enough on her, that he managed to rub the shoulders of her arms and her wings simultaneously. Korriana's body danced to his touch of it's own accord. The chills down her spine were so great, that she didn't even notice him untie the top of her robe before it fell, exposing her scales to the evening air.
A hand reached around to feel her chest. Normally she wasn't much for this, but the way he lightly traced his fingertips across her scales made her shiver. His other hand untied her sash, letting him slowly tease his way downward. His fingertips trailed down her exposed belly, down further until she gasped. He pulled back at the last second trailing back up her chest to her neck. He tilted her snout up with the suggestive touch, and kissed her.
The kiss was light, innocent almost, but the effect it had on Korriana's loins was undeniable. She had been uncertain, but now her body ached for him.
During the kiss, he had managed to guide her to stand, her robes dropping into his lap. He tossed the robes aside and took a long moment to look at her naked form. Korriana watched his eyes glance over her gangly wings, stubby tail, round rump, and glistening silvery scales. His warm smile somehow felt more loving than lecherous, despite his wife watching only a few feet away.
Dawn lifted Korriana and laid her into the soft grass. She looked up at the man, his long flowing hair tickling her belly as he pulled back. She watched him unfasten his belt. A gasp from Vin, as his pants dropped, revealing his thick cock. Korriana blushed, her thighs already wet with anticipation.
The prince leaned down above her, taking each of her legs under one arm. He lifted her by her knees, leaving her shoulders on the ground, and lined up his length with her entrance. Korriana's breath grew heavy as she waited for him to take her, but it was not her eyes the prince was gazing into.
He slowly pressed into her. Korriana gasped as she felt herself being parted. He was thick enough that it hurt, but he took it slow. He let her grow accustomed to each inch before pressing further. Her body, pinned as she was, could only react in shudders as he spread her. He bottomed out and her senses exploded. They laid connected for a while, a prince and his concubine, tied in the evening light.
He began to pull back, slowly, gently. Korriana reached up to put a claw on his chest, ready for him to claim her. Instead he bucked forward, gingerly. Her body reacted with a shudder, but her heart sank a bit. He continued to hump her softly for longer than Korriana could take.
"I'm not that fragile," she suggested.
The prince smiled, taking her words in, and gave her a little more of a buck.
"You heard her," his wife chastised, "Fuck her good and hard."
Korriana had the briefest moment to consider Vin's change in demeanor before she was flipped over. Her soft butt sticking up, her knees and shoulders in the grass. She had equally little time to adjust to the emptiness before Dawn had thrust in again. Her body shook with the force of his thrust, she could feel the ripples in her ass.
He pounded down into her with a fury that shook the earth. Korriana felt herself scream out, knowing the camp would hear her and not caring. He was without restraint, pushing her to her capacity every second.
She could barely contain her orgasm, which came with little warning and was noticed by no one. Her body twisted to pleasure, as he continued to break her in. His thrusts continued to grow stronger as she tried to recover from her first orgasm, instead slipping into a second almost immediately.
With one final earth-rending thrust, the prince filled her with his royal seed. Korriana's body was so overstimulated, she was barely able to enjoy the warmth and fullness. He dropped her to the grass, her body twitching, sore, and thoroughly satisfied.
She laid for a while, waiting for her heart to stop racing. Eventually her breathing steadied, but she found it too difficult to move her legs. If she died at this moment, she'd die happy.
As if on cue, the lights were cut out. Korriana scrambled to her feet, difficult as was, and found herself surrounded by creatures moving in the shadows. Prince Dawn was still in the process of dressing himself and couldn't manage finding his sword before on the the creatures slashed at his back drawing blood. Vin summoned some sort of energy attack to toss back the closest of the creatures, but there were so many of them it would be hopeless to fight.
The natural light came back as suddenly as it had left, the wizard must have done his work. The beasts evaporated in an instant. Instead the three of them found themselves surrounded by fully armed bandits. In the distance, the sounds of struggle continued, but here everyone was tensely staring.
Prince Dawn counted their number, "I have a plan," he announced.
Vin looked about with an eyebrow raised, "You know what I think of your plans."
"Better be a good one!" One of the bandits heckled him.
"Oh it is," Dawn smiled raising his hands in the air in the least threatening gesture he could manage, "We surrender!"
Vin turned to him in shock, only giving the briefest moment of realization on her face. Korriana was much more confused, though a part of her wondered if he was hoping they'd take them to where Laughter was.
The same bandit heckled "What exactly makes you think we'll comply?"
The prince did his best to look offended, "We're royalty."
The bandits all muttered to each other.
"Think we can ransom them?"
"Surely they'd fetch a high price."
"You better watch them closely."
"They'll be trouble, I say."
"You always expect the worst."
"Shuttap!" The heckler told his entourage, "I say we knock them out, take their things, and drag the womenfolk back with us."
There was a rush of excitement as the men were upon them. Korriana questioned how well this plan would go once they turned back into Akuaki, but the bandit leader lit a torch as his companions grabbed her. She struggled against their grip, hoping that there would be a way out of this.
"I'm the prince of Sunhaven!" Dawn protested.
"Never heard of it!" The heckler sneered, his men had already managed to club Vin with a magic scepter knocking her out cleanly. Korriana struggled against her captors, trying to formulate a spell that didn't require her hands free. The man with the magic club grinned at her, before he slammed it down at her.
