What Universe Am I In??? Chapter 1: Confusion
Here Is Chapter 1 of my new series. If you haven't read the intro yet, please do. It will explain a few things you would otherwise miss. I also am going to write chapter one and on in first person, i personally like writing in it better. Its from the perspective of me, James Matrix.
I do not own the Star Trek franchise, or any of its characters, people, or planets. I do however own my characters, so do not use unless you have my permission.
There isn't any yiff in this series yet, but there will be. So adults only.
Enjoy!
I slowly regained consciousness, groaning as my head throbbed and my body tingled. I must have been stunned by that Commander Neven. My eyes focused and adjusted to the light, letting me look around my surroundings. I was sitting on a metal cot sticking out of the wall, with a small, thin cushion on top. The cell i was in had no other features. I walked up slowly to the opening on the cell, there was no door or bars covering the massive opening. I tried to walk through, but i hit the forcefield with a zap, sending more tingling don my spine. I groaned in exasperation. I did not like this situation. I was marooned in a cell God only knows where, my partner was shot and was taken somewhere, i was unarmed, and my jaw hurt like hell from the kick i received earlier.
"Just because you can't see the forcefield, does not mean its there." I heard a youngish male voice say.
A man, about my age, 26, walked up to the forcefield. He was wearing a yellow security uniform, and was armed with one of those blocky pistols. He had the same ridged nose as Neven, and similar ear decorations. He was quite handsome, and was well built. the tight yellow and black uniform fit him well, and lightly accented his muscular frame.
"What? Never seen a Bajoran before?" He said with a smirk, catching me staring. I quickly composed myself and put on a face of calm and control.
"No. I haven't. I have never seen your kind before I appeared here. Wherever this is." I said.
"You are on a United Federation of Planets colony. This is the Elina colony, on Elina II."
"That doesn't help." I said scowling. "United Federation of Planets? What is that?" I asked, figuring it was a good place to start.
"The Federation is a union of thousands of systems and planets and races. The citizens and member systems follow the same trade laws and laws, and receive protection from Starfleet. Starfleet, which i am a member of, is a peacekeeping armada. We patrol the member systems, protect trade routes, and provide safety and diplomacy for our citizens. We..." He said before he was cut off by his communicator.
"This is Commander Neven, to Lieutenant Orias. Is our guest awake?"
"Yes ma'am. He is. Just awoke."
"I'm on my way." Neven said.
"The commander will be here in a minute." Orias said as he walked away and sat behind a desk of computers and screens. A few minutes later, I heard the doors whoosh open, than whoosh closed. COmmander Neven approached me, than ordered the Lieutenant to drop the forcefield. The forcefield disengaged with a buzz.
"So, I would like to know your name and what you are before we begin talked." Neven said with authority, but also curiosity. Under her cold exterior, i could detect a hint of curiosity, even fascination.
"My names is James Matrix. I am a Lieutenant in the United Republic of the Americas Elite Police Squad. I appeared here with my partner, Sergeant Tanya Bondarenko, and my police car and equipment." I said.
"Nice to meet you James. I am Commander Neven, the commander of the security forces on the Elina Colony. Might I ask what species you are? We have no record of you or your partner's species in our database." Neven said.
"On my planet, we are called Anthros. Humanoids that are a mix of human and animal DNA. We have the sense and physical features of our respective species, but mostly human bone structure, and human intelligence. And you are Bajoran as well as Lieutenant Orias?" I said.
"Yes. That is correct. From our database searches, you have the appearance of a husky, and your partner a fox. Correct?"
"Yes. how do you know? I am from the planet earth, how could you know what type of anthro i am, but not entirely know what i am?"
"Earth? That is the Federation capital planet, it is populated by humans. No anthros exist there." She said, as her eyebrow furrowed, the only telltale sign of emotion i have seen on her.
"I don't know. I am from earth, i was last on Earth, now i am here. We can talk more later? How is Tanya?" I asked, my confusion and alarm turning into concern for my partner.
"She is in the sickbay, and has healed nearly completely. The doctor is trying to figure out a way to help her fur grow back on the wound. You can follow me and Orias to sickbay to see her, if you promise to not try any funny business."
"I won't. You seem to be an okay sort, so i will follow you. But if you have hurt Tanya.."
"We haven't. Now follow me." Neven cut me off.
I followed her out of the cell block, Orias close behind. As we walked the halls, many more Federation personel, in yellow, blue and red uniforms, stepped aside to let us pass. Many were curious, some frightened, but most just stared without much expression. I guess they didn't want to piss off and six foot six anthro canine.
The commander walked through another door. The door opened up and as i walked through, i noticed i was in an enclosed walkway above a huge chasm. On either side was the most beautiful rainforest i had ever seen. Bright colors sparkled and reflected the setting sunlight. The sun was setting over a massive waterfall that was dumping water into the chasm.
A hand was firmly placed on my shoulder, snapping me out of my gawking. I turned to see it belonged to Orias. Neven was looking at me impatiently and spoke up.
"You can see the scenery later. SIckbay is just on the other side of the walkway." She said in an annoyed tone.
I continued to follow Neven through a few more doors, and finally into the sickbay. The door whooshed open, and the smell of the sickbay hit me. It smelled of medicines, cleaners, aliens and people of all kinds. It stung my nose. But then i smelled the faint smell of Tanya, making me happy knowing she was actually here. My tail started wagging slightly, hitting Orias' leg lightly, making him step back as he tried to suppress a smirk.
I then saw Tanya sitting up on an examination table wearing a light blue hospital gown. Her armor was sitting in a corner, polished and clean, the silver badge on the breast sparkling in the light.
"Tanya!" "James!" We said simultaneously, quickly hugging each other tightly, our tails wagging like crazy.
"How are you? You look like you were never shot!" I said gleefully.
"They patched me up well, synthesized some blood and gave a transfusion, My fur is missing, the doctor is having trouble calibrating the hair growth thingy to my fur." She said, grinning.
"Great! How have they treated you so far? Any questions or interrogation?"
"Just some questions. Some male counselor asked me a few questions. Said he was a telepath or something and sense i was telling the truth. Neven and him cleared us a bit ago. We are guests now, not prisoners." She said, still smiling and tail wagging.
"Is it true?" I said to Neven.
"Yes." She responded. "You have been cleared." Just than another security officer walked in, carrying a bundle of white clothes, our non combat uniforms. "Here are your uniforms, we got them out of your patrol craft. I took the liberty of having them brought here for you. I figured your armor would be uncomfortable, and unneeded since you are a guest at the colony outpost."
We took our uniforms, and went to changing rooms a green female nurse pointed us to. Once we had changed into our white and silver uniforms, complete with our badges, ID's, rank insignia, and empty holsters, we walked out.
"Where are our sidearms? We hate to be unarmed." I asked, figuring it was worth a shot. Neven let out a short laugh.
"Mr. Matrix, you are our guest, but you don't have our clearance to carry your weapons. It takes us much longer for us to clear you for that, than to clear you as guests. Lieutenant, show Mr. Matrix his quarters, Ensign," she said to the other officer in the room. "Show Ms. Bondarenko her quarters. You two will stay with them, show them around, answer any reasonable questions, and make sure they are safe. Orias, take Mr Matrix's armor and have it cleaned and shined, than have it sent to his quarters." She said, receiving a "Yes Ma'am" from both of them.
We were shown our guest quarters, which were surprisingly large and spacious. We were shown how the replicators worked, how the computer worked, and how everything was set up. We were assured we would receive more clothing at the end of the day, taylored to our sizes, and made to fit our tails. We were allowed to settler in a bit, than asked if we would like to go on a tour. We of course agreed.
As i followed every movement and word of Orias, i found him more and more attractive. I didn't even know what species Bajoran was, but they were a pretty good looking one. All of them i have seen, and i have seen many, were all well built, serious, and tough looking. Yet Orias also seemed graceful in a way, powerful, but well coordinated, and moved with a purpose. I caught him staring at me a few times, but it could have just been the fact he had never seen a upright, sentient canine before.
After he told me how everything worked, we were met outside my quarters by Tanya and her escort, ready to begin the tour.
To be continued.
