It was a common belief among the wolves of Jasper that Alphas, proud leaders, hunters, soldiers and the like would have their duties hampered by the carefree and happy-go-lucky

Omega wolf. Well, thats what kate guessed the reason was anyway. It was a sort of unspoken rule to never discuss such taboo subjects in her strong, proud, alpha family.

Until now...well, she never had much reason to care. Kate was an Alpha. She was loyal to her pack.

She would never dream of defying one of the few laws that held her pack together. It was her duty to lead by example. Her responsibility. No, her birthright.

She was the pack leaders daughter. The daughter of one of the fiercest wolves ever to roam the hills of Alberta and she would do her proud.

Kate contemplated this, riding in the back of a humans camper van thing her Omega travelling companion had gotten her stuffed into. it was a cozy little place

if stuffy. She was laid out on the bed taking stock of her surroundings as she was taught.

She regarded the interior of the camper she was in. Her bed was soft and plush, far above the rocky cave she slept in back home. There was a window to her Left, big enough

to fit through. The main door was towards the back of the truck. In a state of disrepair it swung open without much resistance when pressed upon even by her.

The floor was soft autumn orange coloured carpeting and added to the little mobile-dens feeling of coziness.

His name was Humphrey. He was handsome enough, she supposed. Not rough on the eyes at all. His fur turned darker grey when reaching his haunches

you needed some cheering up or when you need to stop a fight before it began. In that way you could say he serves his pack in much the same manner as her.

She respected him for that.

Still yet, after all her talk of respecting the ways of her pack she had caught herself ogling an omega boy.

She turned her head back to look outside the window grateful Humphrey hadn't been awake to see her make herself blush. Quietly displeased with her own impropriety, she cursed herself.

For Alphas, romance wasn't really the most important thing they had on their plate. She had never really pursued a male nor had she been pursued.

It was maybe that boys just didn't like alpha females. That or, maybe they were scared to approach her because her fathers the pack leader.

Maybe she was just unattractive. Her duties would probably keep her from being a mother or such anyway, so its probably a blessing in disguise.

With her inexperience though, came a curiosity. She had to wonder if the handsome male laying next to her ever had a female before.

Even she had to admit his eyes were quite fetching, a deep beautiful blue. Couple that with his agile looking body, and surprisingly

Kate took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm herself. She really was not used to these emotions. But then again...she wasn't thinking of him in *that* way.

She was just...admiring his looks. Platonically. That's something friends do and humphrey was without a doubt her best friend. He was pretty much the only guy she talked

to. Ever. Aside from her hunting buddies but they were all married. Really, Humphrey was the only boy of her age she had ever felt really close to.

He was here, too. With her in the only time she had ever left the park. Doing nothing but providing comfort by being here.

It suddenly struck the Alpha She-Wolf how exactly alone they were. In the back of this humans camper truck in a makeshift human den barreling down the road with the engine

noise loud enough to drown out whatever sound they made. They could do anything they wanted back here, completely free of consequences.

She clawed into the bed anxiously. Turned her head back to the sleeping Omega and sighed heavily.

She spoke matter-of-factly as a queen would to a peasant. Her tone made it difficult to argue.

"Im just saying we have a long ride ahead of us, so if you want to pass the time with some gossip im-"

Maybe it wouldn't be such a long ride back after all. In such a short conversation he had her smiling and laughing and all her anxieties just faded away.

More relaxed by now, kate had taken to resting her head on her forepaws and watching the male in his mock-theatrical display as she leaned over the side of the bed.

Just then a bang came from the front end of the truck jolting the pair back to reality, and knocking Humphrey off his balance and into one of the tin walls of their

little would be den, kate who had her ears on a swivel swiftly calmed when she realized they had just hit a pothole. Humphrey however, was on his side and glaring humorously

towards the drivers seat, humans up there apparently none the wiser of the damage they had caused to their stowaways.

Noting humphrey's predicament kate simply smiled at him.

"wow so you're a real method actor huh?" She said to the poor wolf, and lifted a forepaw to her mouth to cover her grin.

Groggily, Humphrey took the time to stand up but seeing the effect he had he averted his gaze and smiled.

"im glad one of us enjoyed my performance."

"mhhmm." Kate giggled.

They had joked this way for a time. Teasing each other for a bit before the camper van pulled into a motel parking lot. Where the humans where going to sleep for the night,

kate guessed. Peeking through the window, she mentally ticked off that fact. She saw the couple who were driving them walk into a larger, brighter room than the one

they were in. Why they decided to go to a different den when they already had one on their vehicle kate did not know. Humans were mysterious creatures, but that

means her current ride was unimpeded and they could continue to hitch it all the way back home, hopefully.

It was nearly midnight by this point. Humphrey was asleep in the floor and kate was hungry. This motel was sleepy enough she figured, she could probably nab a few

human left overs from somewhere. She was good enough to get in and out under the humans noses definitely. It was humphrey that would get them caught.

So, she resolved herself. Sneak out while humphrey slept and get them both food. Easy enough.

Dropping into her hunter stance, she tip-toed over the peacefully napping body of her friend and slowly creaked the door open.

It was much colder here, she noticed that immediately. There was a neon sign illuminating the roadway and bright lights coming from the motel rooms. The parking lot

itself was wide and near barren, save for her own ride and a couple others. looking back, she made sure humphrey was still asleep before dropping into the cold night.

Outside she was again struck by the temperature, but this was good. The colder it got, the closer they got to home.

She stole away, mentally ticking off the possible points humans could be hiding behind for the return trip.

Towards the lights, a sign above it read "lobby" she peeked inside. There was a human male asleep at the desk and a half eaten burger beside him.

Perfect.

She quickly scanned her surroundings, making sure no one would see her. All the human-dens had their curtains closed and her mark was out cold.

Very carefully, she started to nose open the push door to the lobby. Her eyes trained on the sleepy human ready to book it if he even moved in his sleep.

But as if the gods themselves were conspiring against her, as she had the door half open a loud "bing" sounded from the door, immediately kate booked it into the

nearby woods, and snuck under a bush. A softer "bong" sounded as the door closed. A very confused human opened the door to peek outside. Kate noticed he didn't follow

her. Was he scarred? Maybe she still had a chance of getting something to eat.

After waiting a few minutes for the now visibly anxious human to relax she snuck into the trash cans nearby nosing around for

anything to bring back. Eventually she had to give up, not eating was honestly better than eating this stuff. It smelled worse than human food usually did.

And that is saying something.

In defeat, kate snuck back to the camper.

As she nosed the door open she saw a very worried humphrey laid on the bed looking out the window waiting for her. She could hear

the relief in his voice when he hopped down seeing her.

Kate stretched and yawned and did her usual morning routine, glancing out the window as the setting for her late night adventure disappeared behind her.

Humphrey below was already awake and glancing upwards at her. Eagerly waiting for her attention. Seeing him so awake and attentive made her jump a little when she finally

met his eyes.

"Uh humphrey...?"

"good morning Kate"

"well the way I see it, we have a long time up until we get back home right?"

"You can sleep with me here if you ever get tired of the cold floor."

Kate had to admit, he had a way of changing your mood.
