#3 of Adair's new start

Continuing my little series, sorry for the wait to those who were waiting. I hope you enjoy the read.

The sky was enveloped in a dark cloth of clouds, drop of liquid diamond threatening to poor down at any moment. All seemed still as I blinked my eyes. The land was bare, hard and cold. Nothing was in the horizon except the dark clouds that seemed to go on forever, like it was in an eternal embrace with the planet itself. The winds picked up and died every so often as streaking light raced across the sky in an unorganized pattern, only leaving behind its deafening crash.

I shivered as it began to feel cold as it started to rain. On this barren land the rain was suppose to be a blessing, but not everything is as it seems. I saw grass begin to grow, trees sprouting out of the ground towering high. In mere seconds it seemed, this one barren land turned into a lush forest, where a steamy heat that emanated from it replaced the once cold chill. I began to walk as I looked around in mere curiosity, feeling the ground and grass beneath my bare feet and the warm surround my bare fur.

The forest seemed vast and never ending, it made me think of that I might have been going in circles although I only trekked straight ahead. I marked a few spots as I walked through, the main markers were a huge boulder, a moss covered log, a tree that looked like a screaming face (it look quite interesting to me right there) and lastly an old rusted pole. As I walked I smiled, it was a different smile that what I normally had on my face. This one was of true and pure bliss, don't get me wrong I smiled like this before in happiness and friends, but this one felt so much better. As I walked I eventually came across a huge mound, maybe the right words would be a small mountain. I trekked over it and when I reached at the top I gasped in disbelief. I could see the whole forest from on top of it yet it didn't feel all that big, but what caught me off guard was when I looked down. There were stairs of stone present with dirt overlaying them, but it was still prominent there. I climbed down as I headed forward, as I reached the stairs I turned around to see that these weren't mere stairs some ancient built, but a whole ruin was under my feet as I saw numerous doors that would obviously lead to many rooms in this long forgotten ruin. My ears twitched as I heard thunder cracked, the storm was still present as winds whipped up to harsh speeds. The only thing to do right now was to use this temple as shelter as torrential rain began to pelt me, and it wasn't a pleasant feeling there.

As I sheltered just at the entrance of the temple the winds picked up and were blowing hard. The winds were forcing me inside more as though it were a living being. All I could do was go more into the temple as a sense of curiosity washed over me. My legs began to take me inside the forgotten temple, step by step I saw darkness become greater but I still progressed on. I kept moving and made a turn only to notice a small torch lit in the distance giving the whole passage light just enough not to be notice from any other corridor. I heard a crash of lightning behind me and continued my trek onward.

I groaned loudly as I woke from my slumber, the vision of the field and temple still clear in my memory as my body ached all over. Getting the crap beaten out of you the day before didn't really help much either. I sat up and stretched before rubbing some of the pain out of my body, making sure to avoid arousing myself for now. Out of all the dreams I had after a crappy day, this was definitely on the top of my most weird list.

As the kinks in my body were worked out, all the sores easing away I looked at my phone and saw the time. It was only 5 am. The idea of going back to sleep was out of the question now as I knew that it would be a hassle to wake me up a second time. I was tired and restless at the same time, a weird combo that somehow exists. I pulled myself to the edge of the bed and yawned loudly. I looked over to my bag and went over to look through it. It took me a few minute before I pulled out a blue stone pendant with a happy smile. It was really dear to me as it was a gift from Eirwen. She had left Corneria a few years back and I missed her very much. I hadn't realized how much I loved her till she left and now my heart yearns just to meet her again, but at the same time I was also frightened at the prospect. I wouldn't know how to greet her if I had met her again. I had kept up with her online and we are even boyfriend and girlfriend. That much made me happy to continue on here but something in me felt as though it was being pulled thin and was ready to snap.

I hummed happily as I had put on the pendant; somehow it looked good on me but made me look more girly as my frame was rather lithe. I didn't mind it though. I was mostly left alone, preferring to stay out of peoples business and in turn they stayed out of mine.

I stayed there admiring the pendant for a few more minutes before coming back to reality as I realized I was still naked. With a blush to myself I began to dress up for the day that was ahead, knowing full well it was soon going to be time to go to a new school.

"Hey Drahcir, stop teasing us man and come out already we give up" The voice of a male Calico called out as he wandered around the forest. He was brown with tan spots, green eyes, and a left ear that was always lower than his right. With the only clothing that he wore were a green "I love nature" t-shirt, brown short pants and some durable mud crusted sandals.

"Yeah you win this round, so just come on. Not nice to keep us waiting." Called a softer voice belonging to a female lynx, who had traveled with the calico. Her fur a deep grey with silvery stripe, she also had bright blue eyes and a sinuous tail. She had been wearing a loose fitting white t-shirt that showed of her c cup bust well enough and a pair of jean shorts that clung to her hips to show he curve off. Both of them had a rather happy smile on their faces despite their obvious annoyance. A faint rustle came from the tree as a blue furred fox came out.

"Ok ok, you two sure know how to spoil the fun." Drahcir said laughing happily at the two who had spent a great deal of time playing a game of hide and seek with him. It was fun to mess with Mark and Sarah this way.

"All fun and jokes aside that is why we gave up, so come on, night isn't going to hold back until we get to the cave." Mark said with some annoyance in his voice to which Sarah nodded in agreement. The two were mate and married, and quite a bit older than Drahcir.

"Ok let's head back then. I got some food to warm up earlier while you two were searching for me. It is already back at the cave." Drahcir said walking between the two and forcing them to walk back in a 3 person line. Drahcir had met the duo in the forest one day after building his cave. The two were travelers that had decided to go missing from the urban life and live in the forest, so he offered them a place in his cave to stay. The two were very surprised to see anyone else in the forest, and let alone one with a cave.

"I am still surprised you made that cave yourself. I can't comprehend how long that must have taken." Sarah said to no one in particular. Drahcir had already explained it nearly took him a year to make the cave to live in, and in the mean time was living in a stick and leaf hut that would be destroyed after 3 nights of use. It just wouldn't stay up much longer than that. When it was finally finished it had taken a few months to get wood chops and carved into useful furniture that would last long enough in the new environment.

The trio laughed and talked as they walked back to their home. They had found great friends among each other, and the duo even thought of Drahcir close enough to be family.

Mark and Sarah had left their families and were presumed dead after being missing from civilization for a couple of years. They had cut all links with family and friends to live peacefully together and had survived long enough by nature's own means. They had found the blue and black fox one day looking for a new place to stay and to find more food. They hadn't expected him to have his own cave or a lasting food supply about the area, but the thing that surprised them more was his hospitality to let them share his living space and food, asking nothing in return.

'Well at least the game was somewhat fun today.' Drahcir thought to himself as they walked back home. Night was approaching fast and the forest was no place to be walking around at night. Drahcir could do some venturing on his own relying on some basic survival techniques and also his fur colour helped a lot in the night as well. Even despite this he wouldn't venture too far away from the safety of the cave.

The group continued to walk through the forest at a moderate pace, idly chatting about what they did, what they found and anything interesting that might have went on. Mark and Sarah being a couple would often find a secluded spot somewhere to have some 'alone time' and have some fun. Drahcir knew what they did, but he never pressed on in any conversation to find out what they exactly did. The only give away were the faint smell of sex around them that told him what happened. He had to admit that they did an alright job trying to hide the scent from him. But whenever he would smell that scent on the couple he couldn't help but to feel a stir in his loins, in more than one way. He could manage to hide his excitement around the two but it always bothered him as his cock would throb and there would be moist spot at his groin. He would try his best to hide this from his friends, and so far it always seems that he did it well. There was no way for him to tell if they had scented it on him, or if their own scents masked his.

Soon the party had reached their hole in the wall of a home, not much more at the time than a hole leading into the mountain. The walls were all uneven and rough, in the few spots that were smooth there was intricate carvings too detailed for most chisels to mimic. Drahcir had dug into the mountain a good ways, leaving up support pillars in a few places to keep the artificial cave structurally sound. The cave itself was surprisingly big enough to house all the commodities of a modern home complete with a few extra bedding areas for guests if he ever came across any and in this case Mark and Sarah who had stayed with him for quite a long time.

Once everyone was inside Drahcir moved a larger boulder to cover up the entrance till the morning, but there were plenty of hidden routes in the cave to find a way out to the surface. Drahcir had only let Mark and Sarah knows about one of these just in case, but he had a secret passage of his own. He often took the passage to head to a waterfall deep within the mountain itself, complete with a deep pool of water. All the rain that comes this way filters through the rock and is stored in a reservoir which in turn leaks out to a rather small waterfall. After the 'door' was closed and locked up Drahcir came following behind, the place was furnished with some jungle style chairs and table, even a sofa made out of moss for the cushion, leaves for the volume, vines to hold it together and pelts of animals as the cover.

The couple was happily lying on the improvised sofa; the male was laying across with his head rested on Sarah's lap, who idly played with his hair making twirls and curls in it. Drahcir just sat on the floor and a rather soft rug of moss and look at them. He always wondered how they manage to be so happy together.

The rain came hard during the night; it had come out of nowhere and caught everyone off guard. Drahcir making his way to the cave while the young couple was still somewhere out in the jungle. They were suppose to gather some wood for the fire but in this rain it was out of the question, he himself just went out to gather some food for them. He waited at the cave for a long time, when 45 minutes passed Drahcir had gone inside only to come back out with a hunting spear and machete in hand, both rather new looking as he hadn't used them that much. He went out in a run, quickly the form of his blue and black fur vanishing in the shrubbery.

His silver eyes searching far and wide while his keen ears listened for any other sound, but that was easier said than done as the rain made plenty of noise on the leave in an irregular pitter patter form. Drahcir had taken the easiest path to follow as there was a system devised by them to follow certain routes to finding certain necessities. Soon enough Drahcir had found the fading scents of his friends and went faster to hasten to pace of his search. Only his nose was guiding him in this search as the scents got stronger. He nearly lost track of them when it trail took a sharp turn, that is when he knew something was dreadfully wrong. As he followed on deeper into the jungle he had the feeling of being watched and danger was about. All his time in the city and being picked and beaten on had left him a sixth sense for danger (although it didn't always work, just most of the time). He soon came across a clearing and took a hiding place, inspecting the area before coming out. As he spied in the cover of the leaves he saw two figures laying in the grass, a fading crimson red on the ground as the rain began to wash it away. It took him a while to figure out who they were. Drahcir looked over the surrounding area, not finding anything of immediate danger and took a chance, slowly leaving his cover to make it to his fallen friends' sides.

Unbeknownst to Drahcir, a wolf was sitting on the branch of a tree waiting for him to show, his black fur blending in well with the dark tint of the stormy sky. He knocked an arrow from his quiver and began to take aim at the lone and exposed fur down below. Even in his aim he kept his eye on his partner, a dragon who was hiding in the grass, keeping its details well hidden in the foliage. The wolf let out a soft, low howl to give the illusion that it came from afar. The dragon let out a soft breath of anticipation waiting for his next victim to walk in closer, like the two before him, to fall at the hands of his short sword, which was well hidden underneath the prone dragon. The wolf that was still high up loosened the tension on the bow, un-knocking the arrow to attach a note. Then quickly knocking the arrow again took aim, and let the arrow loose. The arrow whizzed through the air before burying itself into the corpse of Mark where Drahcir was weeping over his loss.

Drahcir had scanned over the bodies of his now dead friends, after all this time they spent together at the cave, this had left Drahcir heart broken. They had spent so much time together, although not so much when you think about it, but it was still a lot to grow a deep attachment to them. Drahcir had broken down right there, tears forming in his eyes to be shed. He thought of all the time they spent together in the wilderness, all the fun games, hardships, and even a bit of mischivity. They didn't deserve to die like this, not like this at all. Their bodies were stabbed and slashed mercilessly, and even in death they held each other's hands. During the sobs that overcame his body, Drahcir promised to give them a proper burial with a memorial to match, but along with that promise came a pact to get vengeance on the scum who had done this to them. As Drahcir continued his sobbing an arrow appear out of nowhere and buried itself into the corpse of Mark with and audible thud. He was frightened at this moment that he fell backward and looked around in a mix of fear and anger. 'How dare they desecrate his body, even more in death.' Drahcir thought, his metallic eyes scanning everywhere to see where the owner of the arrow might be. When coming up with nothing he turned to the arrow and saw a note attached to it. He reached for it hesitantly, untying it from its twine knots before opening it to read. "Haha, what a pussy... Crying over his dead friends... you're next" the note had read, and even signs, by Grim and Reaper. Drahcir crumpled the note in his hands and threw it away. In pure rage he growled and shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Get your asses out here and FIGHT ME!!!" He exclaimed as loud as he could. He knew they were close by to hear this. He would make sure they paid for what they had done. Grim and Reaper will know true pain...

Drahcir woke up on the couch with a grumble. It was still early in the morning for most people to even consider waking up at. His silver eyes looked up at the ceiling with annoyance. It was the same dream. It never seemed to leave him for long. With a soft sigh he turned over to sit on the couch more comfortably. Why does that dream always come? He just didn't understand.

He looked about the living room, silvery eyes gazing over the small object on various tables and some photograph on the walls. It was nice, and really a definite improvement from when he last saw Terr. He could only wonder what made him reform his ways. The two of them had always been close like brothers, when one was in trouble the other will come to help, usually it was Terr who help Drahcir in the older days.

Time just seemed to drag on as Drahcir sat there. Nothing to do but wait till everyone was up. And by the looks of things it wouldn't be for a while. The light that was coming through the curtains added some warmth and color from last night and helped to ease himself back down. Seconds just seemed to take longer nowadays. As he continued to sit, shifting positions every so often, his thoughts seemed to go back to his dreams. 'Why can't I just forget' He said to himself as tears formed.
