Special Assignments - Chapter Thirty
#30 of Special Assignments
Malcolm wasn't looking forward to starting at college. The University of Beldover was not his first choice. However, the arrival of a new Fox professor might just liven things up.
Chapter Thirty One to follow soon...
The remainder of the holiday passed by in a blur and it came to an end too soon.
I felt as if I could still savour the taste of the pizza in my muzzle as I glanced out of the cabin window. We were heading back towards the UK and I felt the lurch in my stomach as we began our descent.
"I wish we didn't have to leave," I sighed. "I don't feel motivated for lectures tomorrow at all."
"We will come back, I promise," Lachlan said. "How about as a graduation treat?"
"That sounds nice, although graduation is miles away," I replied.
"It'll sneak up faster than you think, but when it does we'll do something special for sure."
"You know, I like discussing things far off in the future. It gives me hope," I grinned.
Lachlan nodded thoughtfully before giving my paw a quick squeeze.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we will soon be beginning our descent," an announcement began.
I instinctively fastened my seatbelt while Lachlan stowed his laptop.
The clouds broke and I could see the green fields of England below. Although it was usually a welcome sight, I felt a hint of sadness that my escape with Lachlan would soon be replaced by the usual routine of assignments and classes.
I thought back to the pizza we had eaten. As Lachlan had promised, it was indeed authentic. Takeout pizza to me usually involved multiple toppings and grease. The pizza Lachlan had purchased came from a small but charming looking restaurant. The mozzarella on the top was far more flavoursome that any I'd had before, it barely needed any toppings to make it better.
I was taken back to the present by a second lurch in my stomach. The ground outside was rushing up to meet us. I reached over and clasped Lachlan's paw as the wheels hit the runway with a dull thud.
Soon, we were taxying over to the terminal and Lachlan gave my paw one last squeeze before we followed the crowd out of the plane.
After retrieving our suitcases we walked out to the carpark where Lachlan had left his Audi. The sky above was grey and threatening to rain. It felt a world away from the warmth and exoticness of the storms in Italy, but I forced myself to remember I was with Lachlan and not coming home alone.
We reached his car and as we climbed in rain began spotting against the windows.
"Want to stay at mine tonight or head back to your aunt's?" Lachlan asked.
"Stay with you, of course," I replied.
"I was hoping you'd say that," he grinned.
I returned the smile as I slid out my phone to text my mum.
"I should let my family know we are back."
I sent a quick message to both simply stating Hi, made it back safely. Hope you're well before putting my phone away.
Lachlan navigated us out of the carpark and we drove in silence for a short while as he followed the motorway before turning off down a smaller country road.
"I'm not sure what I have at home for dinner, but we'll find something no doubt," he said. "Did your aunt or mum respond?"
I glanced at my phone.
"Not yet," I shrugged.
"I'm sure they'll be pleased to have you back," he replied with a smile. "Especially as we never got to video call your mum."
I felt a pang of guilt as I remembered that we had never gotten the chance to speak, but in some ways I knew it was probably a good thing. It saved having to answer questions. But the fact my mum had been curiously silent worried me.
"I hope she's okay," I sighed.
"I'm sure she is," Lachlan said. "It's about dinnertime for most people now, she's probably eating."
"True," I replied.
As the word left my muzzle I felt my phone vibrate and looked down to see my mum had texted Great xx and this was followed by Aunt Ruth with Hope you had a good time.
I settled back in my seat and relaxed as we kept driving although the desire to go back to Italy wouldn't go away.
Lachlan had made love to me each night for the rest of the holiday, and each time it had felt a little better. My tail hole felt quite sore, but the having him inside me was a comforting and reassuring thing rather than something that made me apprehensive.
"You're thinking about last night?" Lachlan asked with a cheeky but charming smirk.
"Yeah, how did you guess?" I chuckled.
Lachlan simply pointed at my crotch. There was a noticeable bulge in my jeans. I laughed, not bothering to disguise the fact I was feeling turned on. I felt happy that I could be as open as I wanted with him.
Lachlan seemed to be thinking the same thing.
"That's the most enjoyable trip I've had in a long time," he said. "Not just for the sex, but because whenever I've gone on research trips by myself I've never had anyone to experience the adventure with, and none of my PhD students, no offense to them, would make interesting travel companions like you do."
My thumping tail negated the need to respond with words.
We kept driving until we turned onto the familiar country lane that led to Lachlan's flat.
The sun was setting as we hauled out suitcases from the car and carried them indoors. The air felt chilly and I was glad when Lachlan shut the front door behind us and turned the heating on.
"Now, let's investigate what's for dinner," Lachlan announced.
I watched as he searched around the kitchen.
"My mum either used to make toast or order food after we'd been away," I explained.
"Hmm, how hungry are you?" Lachlan asked.
"Not hugely," I admitted.
Inside, I felt tired wanted to get into bed and sleep beside Lachlan.
"Toast it is," Lachlan said. "I have some bread frozen. It's a climb down from the food we had in Italy I know."
"I'm not too hungry," I shrugged. "I just want to watch some Shepworth and climb into bed with you."
"Y'know, that sounds like an ideal plan," Lachlan said. "Get Shepworth out and we'll begin."
He retrieved the bread from the freezer and slotted two slices each into the toaster. I got the Shepworth discs from Lachlan's bag and inserted the next instalment into my laptop.
I sat on the sofa as Lachlan set the toast down on the coffee table.
"I was reflecting on your mum wanting to call. I think we should be a little cautious, given I was supposed to take a PhD student on the trip and not rent a whole villa, not that it really matters since I organised the trip, not the university," Lachlan said.
I cocked my head, feeling surprised that the comment had come out of nowhere.
"Okay," I replied. "What brought that out?"
"Oh, just thinking," Lachlan mused before fixing me a reassuring grin. "The tired ramblings of a sleep deprived fox."
"So long as you're okay?" I asked, shuffling over to sit closer to him.
"Yes, I'm quite well," Lachlan said with a smile.
"You're not having doubts about us?"
"Not at all, please don't think that," he said, cupping my face in his paws. "I don't doubt us at all."
He pulled me into a hug as I bit into my toast. I felt a sense of relief wash over me, although part of my mind was still concerned.
"Shall we watch Shepworth?" I asked with a yawn. "I mean, I'm down for it but I do feel tired."
"Bedtime it is," Lachlan said. "We'll appreciate the extra sleep before tomorrow."
I nodded and felt the melancholy reminder that I had lectures.
We finished our toast in silence before Lachlan took the plates away. He then picked up his suitcase and I grabbed mine before following him into the bedroom.
I glanced around the familiar sight of Lachlan's bedroom and smiled to myself.
This feels like my room now, more than my room at Aunt Ruth's or my bedroom at mum's house.
Lachlan gave me a kiss before reaching into his suitcase. I grinned again as I saw him retrieve the black pair of briefs he had loaned me before.
"Here, you have them," Lachlan said, holding them out to me. "They fit you pretty well."
"I'll take them after you've worn them," I grinned. "If that's not too weird."
"When you become mated you learn that it's not too easy to weird your boyfriend out," he laughed. "How about I sleep in them first?"
"Yeah, do that," I encouraged. "I want to smell like you."
Lachlan responded with his trademark smile as he undid his jeans and slid them off. I watched my mate undress and I didn't need to look down to know it was making me hard.
The sight never gets boring.
Lachlan undressed fully before pulling the black pair on.
"Shall we brush our teeth?" he suggested.
I nodded before undressing to my underwear and following him to the bathroom. Lachlan had given me a toothbrush that I always kept in his bathroom.
"Here you go," Lachlan said, squeezing me a glob of toothpaste onto mine.
I began brushing my teeth and let out relaxed sigh as Lachlan gently kneaded and massaged my butt with one paw as he brushed his.
"I've gotta be careful not to swallow it," I gasped as Lachlan reached around to feel my balls.
As the words escaped my muzzle I coughed as the watery toothpaste went down my throat.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry," Lachlan said, spitting out his toothpaste before giving me a hug and fixing me an apologetic expression
I shrugged and laughed.
"It's not the worst thing I've had in my mouth," I replied.
"I won't inquire," Lachlan grinned.
He took me by the paw and we walked to bed.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked. "I was reflecting on what you said earlier."
"I'm doing just fine," Lachlan said.
He smiled and kissed my muzzle before reaching over to turn off the lights. I smiled back and rested my head against the pillow. I pushed my concerns aside and closed my eyes. Sleep came almost instantly.
Before I knew it the sun was touching my face through a gap in the curtains. I made a groaning sound and rolled over.
"Can't believe it's the morning already," I yawned. "And I have class."
"I know the feeling, I have work," Lachlan sighed, giving me a kiss. "But still, I'll make sure we have lots of things to look forward to."
"Good," I replied, thumping my tail.
Lachlan gave my paw a squeeze and gently pulled the covers off us.
"Shower time I think."
I smiled and followed him to the bathroom. The showering routine was now passing by in a happy blur.
I never get tired of this ritual - feeling the warm water rushing over me while Lachlan holds me close. The scent of his wet fur combined with that wonderful smelling aftershave he wears is heavenly.
"Feeling clean?" Lachlan asked.
I nodded and he turned the water off.
Lachlan's black briefs were laying on the bathroom floor and I couldn't help but pick them up and press them to me nose again before reaching for my towel.
"How's the scent, about adequate?" Lachlan grinned.
"It's better than that," I said, wagging my tail.
"Excellent, I'll put them in your suitcase," Lachlan said. "I can come via your Aunt's and drop your suitcase off after lectures so you don't have to lug it around campus?"
"Sounds good," I nodded as I dried myself off.
Lachlan led me to the kitchen and I watched as he fixed us some cereal.
"Not exotic again I'm afraid," Lachlan said.
"It's no matter, I'll eat anything you put on the table," I shrugged.
Lachlan responded with his smile.
Damn, it's so overpowering each time.
However, my upbeat mood began to fade as we finished eating.
"I suppose I'd best get ready," I sighed.
Lachlan nodded and we made our way to the bedroom. My laptop bag was sitting by the door, waiting for me to carry it back to class. Oh how boring!
We pulled on our clothes and picked my bag up.
"Shall we?" Lachlan said, taking my paw.
My heart felt heavy as I followed him out to the car and settled myself into the passenger seat.
We started driving in silence and I gazed out of the window. The sky was grey and wintry looking. The fields looked nice but they didn't have quite the same attraction Italy did.
"We'll plan more fun things, I promise," Lachlan said, as if he could sense my thoughts.
I turned to shoot him a smile and give his paw a squeeze.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and I slid it out to see a message from Hudson.
Yo Shep, you alive? :P looking forward to seeing you in class, if Foxybutt didn't wear you out as his love shack that is
I couldn't help but chuckle.
"That's good you're smiling," Lachlan commented. "Who messaged?"
"Just Hudson, being silly as usual," I replied, omitting the ruder part of the message.
Perhaps class wouldn't be so bad after all.
